The Insights Of Comic Bill Burr

From his 2012 show on Netflix, You People Are All The Same.

Bill: Only white people get face lifts, because black people know about lotion.

That’s why you’ve got to hang out with everybody. There’s too much information in the world and every people miss a little bit. White people totally missed the lotion seminar… We missed that like black people missed the whole ‘Register Your Weapons’ summit. Just never got the information. The number of rappers busted for an unregistered glock in the car blows my mind. Why would you do that to yourself? Do you want to make an album over the phone? It breaks my heart every time I see it. If he just had one white friend in his entourage, dude would have been sitting there saying, ‘Is that thing registered? Are you out of your mind? Yeah, it’s illegal. It’s three to five mandatory.’

* Where are those old school women you could just take your day out on?

* There are no reasons to hit a woman? I could give you 17 off the top of my head. Women, how many times this week did you think about slapping your guy in the head?

* “I’m passionate.” That’s what they say when they flail away.

LET IT GO:

* Women are constantly patting themselves on the back over how difficult their lives are and no one corrects them because they want to **** ’em.

I’M SORRY YOU FEEL THAT WAY

* 85% of you have to go… This will not be arbitrary. This is not multiple choice. Under your seats is a questionaire. If you did not bring a pencil, you’re already out.

* F*** you and your group. There’s two million in your group? There are 400 million in this country.

*********************

* “It’s kinda hard to enjoy heaven when your family and friends are burning forever.”

* You can date them, you can take them to shul, you can Facebook them, just don’t put it on Instagram! (Donald Sterling via Bill Burr)

* I’m having a Holocaust themed pool party. Everyone get in de pool!

* “You know what makes women happy? Nothing.”

* “The commissioner could punt a baby across his office with his wingtips on and I would still watch football.”

* “Jesus likes hookers and lepers but doesn’t like the queers.”

* “You give me freedom of choice. You make whores. You make me bad at math. You think this thing is not going off the rails?”

Is Call of the Shofar Kaput?

This EST-ripoff has not held any seminars for months after encountering stiff opposition from Chabad rabbis. The Call of the Shofar website is still live.

Call of the Shofar is a form of Large Group Awareness Therapy. It’s like a Jewish hippie version of EST and Landmark Forum and Possible You.

Sometimes you have to know only one thing about one person and it is all you need to know about a program. For me, once I knew Call of the Shofar founder, Simcha Frischling, claimed semicha (rabbinic ordination) from Perchei Shoshanim in Israel, created by crooked Orthodox rabbi Fred “Fishel” Todd of Lakewood, New Jersey, who gave semicha to Antony Gordon, once I knew that, it was all over for me. Perchei Shoshanim is basically a mail-order scam like becoming a pastor through a Rolling Stone ad.

Xeni Jardin wrote in 2009: “A number of companies are reported to have corporate ties to est/Landmark, for instance: Bay Area vegan restaurant Cafe Gratitude (See: East Bay Express, and SFGate). And Lululemon Athletica, the company that makes all that trendy yoga gear (see Fast Company, this blog, and the CEO’s testimony on the Landmark Forum website). Some former employees at both companies have stated publicly that if you want to become a manager or keep your job, you’d pretty much better be prepared to join Landmark.”

Don’t Expect A Rabbi To Honor Your Request For Confidentiality

A rabbi, unlike a priest, has no binding religious law compelling him to confidentiality. I keep seeing people again and again confiding in rabbis, asking for confidentiality, only to have to it blow up in their faces when the rabbis share what they’ve been told with everyone they see fit. Some rabbis may well honor your request for confidentiality, but that is not the norm and there is no demand in Torah for them to do so.

In my experience, rabbis are as trust-worthy as car mechanics, neither more nor less.

As one rabbi wrote: “The first important principle is that unlike the medical and legal profession, the clergy, especially as noted by halakha, has, no special oath or rule proscribing the revealing of private, personal matters to others. In other words, there is no specific rabbi rule against violating confidentiality.”

Jews & Gentiles

When I hear a view from within one in-group, I like to wonder out loud how it would be received if the identical view was expressed by another in-group.

I’m listening to a Dec. 25 lecture by Orthodox rabbi Shlomo Einhorn on Judaism and other religions.

What is one reason that Hasidic Jews don’t learn Torah on Christmas Eve? “The forces of impurity are awaken in the world on the birth of [Jesus]. Because they are magnified, we don’t want to do anything to give extra oomph to the powers of impurity. Wherever you have greater levels of holiness, therein you have greater impurity.”

So, how would it go over in America today if Christians said that the birth of some leading Jew represented the awakening of forces of impurity in the world? These Christians in particular and Christianity in general would be denounced for anti-Semitism.

So what is the term for Jewish contempt of Christians? There is no term. There is no sin. There is no bigotry. On Christians, it is open season. The goyim are always fair game. Jews? You may never criticize Jews as a group.

When you compare the sacred texts of these two groups, there’s equal contempt. The one difference is that you don’t have much instruction in the Jewish tradition about doing physical harm to Christians.

Rabbi: “Pragmatically, it was a dangerous night for Jews to be in the Bais Medrish (House of Study). There was drinking. There were festivities. And the non-Jews were out for blood. They were angry for Jews who they blamed for the death of their savior and they went down the streets looking for a Jew.”

And yet they weren’t out for blood everywhere at all times in Christendom. I wonder if in places with higher average IQs, there were fewer pogroms? I wonder if Jewish behavior had anything to do with whether or not the goyim were out for Jewish blood in a particular town?

A major reason this time was dangerous for Jews was that the goyim had particularly strong in-group identity on Christmas. All strong in-group identity contains hostility to outsiders (even though not every member of the in-group may share this at all times). So a strong and united goyim is more challenging, perhaps, for Jews while a goyim who don’t feel their racial, religious and national identity strongly are easier to deal with.

A goyim that is 99% white, like Nazi Germany, is a formidable enemy while a goyim that is only 62% white like America today is not.

As for the remark about goyim getting drunk on Christmas Eve, I wonder who was making and selling the alcohol? Much of the time it was Jews who were making money from goyim getting drunk (just like today Jews are disproportionately in the hospitality business, in entertainment, bars, clubs, hotels, restaurants, discos, movies, TV, pornography, music, prostitution, etc).

Later in the lecture, the rabbi notes that we are not allowed to drink wine that’s been touch by an idolater, but if any restaurant or hotel were to say it does not serve Jews, oy vey, the tumult we would cause! We Jews are allowed to shun non-Jews and their food and drink, but if non-Jews ever say they want to shun Jews, that’s anti-Semitism? Well, what’s the word for Jewish animus towards goyim? Or can Jews only be victims and never perpetrators of hate?

All civilization depends upon discrimination. Jewish civilization depends upon discriminating against outsiders and Christian civilization depends upon discriminating against outsiders.

On Domestic Violence

assaultMartin van Creveld writes:

In about fifty percent of all cases the violence is mutual. The remaining fifty percent are initiated almost equally by people of both sexes. Poof! Goes myth number one.

Again judging by the media, women suffer more serious injuries than men (men’s injuries, in fact, are hardly ever mentioned). Not true. According to other investigators, it is men who usually suffer the more serious injuries. The reason is that women are more likely to use weapons, whereas men hit with their fists or their feet. Poof! Goes myth number two.

Domestic violence directed by men against women is often said to be underreported. True or not, there is no doubt that violence directed by women against men is even more so. The reason is simple: should a man dare complain, then if he is lucky he will be laughed at. If he is not then there is a good chance that he will get himself arrested, charged, tried, convicted and punished. I personally knew one such case, and there must be many others.

Furthermore, whereas a man who beats up or kills his woman is said to commit domestic violence, women who do the same are said to engage in “reverse domestic violence.” Thus the stereotype, to use an expression feminists love so much, consists of men hitting women. That in itself may very well lead to over-reporting of such cases. Poof! Goes myth number three.

Supposedly men kill their girlfriends and wives, whereas the opposite is rare. Not true, or at any rate true only up to a certain point. Depending on the country, the ratio is about three or four to one. In other words, for every three or four women killed there is a man who
loses his life. However, as is the case with domestic violence as a whole, there is some reason to think that the statistics fail to present the full picture. There are two reasons for this. First, more women than men use covert means such as poison which may not be
detected. Second, more women hire other people (men) to do the killing for them. Though it is almost certainly true that more men kill their spouses than women, the ratio may not be as skewed as the headlines claim. Poof! Goes Myth number four.

Most people of both sexes who commit crimes of any kind try to cover their tracks as best they can. Not so men who kill their wives. To be sure, there are exceptions. However, most of them, instead of trying to escape, turn themselves in. Others commit suicide. They do so either on the spot, immediately after having committed the deed, or soon afterwards. No other class of criminals has displayed similar behavior. The question is, why?

I want your help in compiling a list of ten Palestinian tech ideas that changed the world in 2014

Aryeh: “Their greatest accomplishment: Co-development of the world’s greatest defense force – the IDF. Their generous contribution in relentless scrimmage helped Israel become the world’s best Air Force, and develop so many technologies (such as the Iron Dome). They have been instrumental in demonstrating Israel’s top tier human rights and humanitarian efforts by providing real life examples of restraint and consideration every day, sometimes many times per day. Their generous contribution and sacrificing the lives of their men, women and children in differentiating Israel and Jews from the rest if the world is immeasurable. But most of all, they are clearly in partnership with Hashem by revealing His miracles every day, for without darkness there can be no appreciation for light. The Palestinian / Hamas leadership is an example to all those countries surrounding Israel.”

Breitbart: “A video being widely circulated in Palestinian social media networks teaches jihadists how to stab a Jewish person in a manner that ensures their speedy death.”

Chaim Amalek: “You see? The ‘do it yourself’ movement has caught on even among the Palestinians.”

Luke: “Is stabbing your enemies what you do when you don’t have your own media company (to stab your enemies)?”

Chaim: “I’m convinced that in each case, if the stabber had his own Hollywood movie studio he’d have found an alternative to stabbing a Jew to death. We as Jews have an obligation to open up Hollywood so that no Palestinian feels so disenfranchised that he is forced to shove a blade into a Jews guts.”

Evolution & Orthodox Judaism

A secular friend of mine stayed with some Orthodox Jews for a couple of days and then got in touch with me:

“Ok so I’m having this crisis. I am staying with these religious people and I really like them and everything and then they try to tell me evolution isn’t real and we didn’t come from apes! I started crying because I know that’s not true. I can’t be willingly ignorant like that
I don’t understand what is wrong with people. Please tell me you don’t believe that crap that it didn’t happen.”

Luke: “Oy! Can you enjoy what is good with these people and ignore the rest? Many orthodox jews believe in evolution but it is never worth an argument.”

Two days later, my friend says: “I’m still having an anxiety attack about it because this other guy who I thought was cool just told me he doesn’t believe humans evolved from the same thing as other animals
Christ. What the **** is wrong with people? I thought he was smart!
Now not so much. I don’t think you can be smart and believe that
or maybe I’m too judgey? I’m just flabbergasted.”

Luke: “Some Orthodox Jews believe the earth is the center of the universe and the sun revolves around the earth.”

Friend: “STFU! I can’t believe in magic! I can’t believe in things which contradict the laws of physics. Sorry not happening. I think I just like these people’s lifestyle but I think a lot of their beliefs are bonkers. For example, ‘the world to come’.”

Luke: “You can behave like other people without taking on their beliefs, you just have to keep your trap shut.”

Friend: “Ugh! I have such a hard time with that. Can’t I just go someplace where people are completely honest about things?

“Why do people need to believe in magic and things that are proven to be false? Does it comfort them or something? Also – if humans are divine, what even is a human? Are Neanderthals human? Are homo erectuses human? These things aren’t so clear cut. What makes a creature human / not human?”

“I’ve never been so confused in my entire life. These things torture me and I can’t sleep at night. I wish I was one of these people who could just sleepwalk through life and not care. I will literally be in the middle of a bar and a party and I will just be sitting there staring at everyone in disbelief wondering how they can be so carefree and loose.”

Chaim Amalek: “Evolutionists do not believe that humans evolved from apes, but that humans and apes (and every other living thing) evolved from a common ancestor. Nice people can believe crazy, ahistorical things. Consider the Mormons. Much of what they believe isn’t just wrong, it is provably wrong a dozen times over. But does that make Mormons evil or personally stupid? They are a nice people, and Mormon women tend to be very pretty and make good wives and mothers. And much of what they teach is nonsense. On the other hand, most of what the murderous atheistic Reds taught about evolution (once they had gotten Lysenko out of their system) was correct, or at least more correct than what your orthodox Jewish friends believe. Such is life. My advice to you is to marry, have children, and not fret over these matters until you are old.”

Jeffrey: “Those religious people who are not necessarily careful scientific thinkers resist basic Darwinism because it is so frequently associated with atheism, and militant atheism to boot (as in the bumper sticker that mocks the Christian fish symbol by reproducing it with legs and “Darwin” inside. [Fish = Icthys = “Ίησοῦς Χριστός, Θεοῦ Υἱός, Σωτήρ”, (Iēsous Christos, Theou Yios, Sōtēr), = “Jesus Christ, Son of God, Saviour”). It is not so much a matter of natural philosophy right or wrong but of ideas as symbols of group identity and values. That’s why after a meeting of US Rabbis with Pope JP II on his American trip, R. Avroham Hecht, a much respected Orthodox leader and the only Orthodox Rabbi in the group–most were lefty and essentially secular–quipped that he felt a lot more comfortable with the Pope than with his co-religionists.”

Foxcatcher

This movie ripped me up inside. Growing up in foster care for most of my first five years, I’m susceptible to cults and charismatic father figures.

I can’t recall a movie that was more painful for me to watch because I so identified with the Channing Tatum character (Mark Schultz) and I saw how he was going to bring misery to his family.

I kept saying to myself while watching the movie, “If I can just limit the damage I do to my family with my shenanigans.”

The movie also reminded me of vast swathes of fundamentalist religion and New Age cults where you can get love and support, but only if you sign on with an insane program and insane authority figures.

Wikipedia: “It is based on the true events surrounding John du Pont’s efforts in hiring the Schultz brothers to help train US wrestling and swimming Olympians, and du Pont’s subsequent murder of David Schultz.”

Many Women Love Their Pets & Their Kids & Their Phone More Than Their Men

So if a woman with cats met a guy she liked who was allergic to cats, would she choose the guy or her cats? A cat allergic friend of mine was passed over as a potential boyfriend so this Jewish woman could stick with her cats. This seems crazy to me. I may be wrong, but in my experience, Jewish women are more susceptible to this type of craziness. I had a GF who was frequently more attached to her dog (which she shared with an ex-boyfriend) than to me. Taking care of her dog frequently took precedence over taking care of me and I have immense needs (which is why she fled after a year).

I never want to attach myself to a woman who is going to put her pets and her kids before our relationship.

Beth: “I’d choose my cats. They were there first and when I got them it was a lifelong promise. Most “allergies” to cats are actually just dislike. And if the guy is actually severely allergic, he can get allergy shots. Rehoming a pet is difficult and usually ends with the animal being euthanized. A man who expects me to kill my pet for him isn’t worth my time.”

Brandy: “Cats. Sorry, they were there first and I made a forever promise to them.”

Lisa: “I’m with Beth. I know my dog will be here no matter what another human being does or does not do.”

Hes: “Her cats. I know this thanks to a friend of mine in this exact situation.”

Sara: “It’s not about liking cats or not. I like cats but allergic to some of them. Guy I’m currently dating has a cat I’m allergic to and its a problem and the reason why I rarely go to his place.”

Male friends of mine feel like their wives love their iPhones more than they love them. The wives certainly more attentive to their phones. I refuse to compete with an iPhone. If I am talking to someone who’s looking at her phone, I stop talking and I move on. I’ve left dates when this happened. It’s only happened on first dates.

I remember meeting one woman at Sinai Temple over Succoth. We went out for the first time and she kept jumping on her phone. I never wanted to date her again. She pursued me for years afterward, but I couldn’t take her seriously. I always had severe reservations about her from the disrespectful way she treated me on our first date.
