Mama Mia – She Has A Nazi Abba

From The Jewish Channel:

While the smash-hit musical follows the lead character’s search for her father, in real life ABBA singer Frida didn’t know of her father’s existence until she skyrocketed to fame in her 30s.

Her father was actually a Nazi, and she was actually conceived as part of Hitler’s program to propagate the Aryan race.

Her shocking story, brought to you by The Jewish Channel.

Comfortably Snuggled In Orthodox Judaism

From my live cam chat:

palestine4ever:  "Engineering sweeping moral change" leaves little time to clean the hovel 🙂
palestine4ever:  That is a suspiciously feminine comforter for a bachelor.
palestine4ever:  Unless it’s part of the pick up king tricks.
palestine4ever:  "Come see my flower comforter, babe."
palestine4ever:  I like the new title graphic up front
palestine4ever:  A crucified Luke would be the best though
palestine4ever:  Yay. 🙂
palestine4ever:  "This Goy Died for Your Sins. And He’ll Rise and Print a Retraction on the 3rd Day"
palestine4ever:  Luke, are you a fan of b-movies?
YourMoralLeader:  no
palestine4ever:  damn
palestine4ever:  I was hoping to share some of my Italian amphetamine mad max rip-offs to ease your illness.
palestine4ever:  I otherwise have no useful links
palestine4ever:  I did sort of wonder why you weren’t consulted for Wired’s current cover story:
palestine4ever:  http://www.wired.com/culture/lifestyle/magazine/16-08/howto_allison
palestine4ever:  I believe you were a microcelebrity before anyone knew what a microcelebrity was
palestine4ever:  i hope that’s a kosher magazine
palestine4ever:  blessed by the cohenim
palestine4ever:  you should twitter tho
palestine4ever:  you’d probably have a lot of followers
palestine4ever:  tech dorks obsessed with money like to show off their "eccentric friends"
palestine4ever:  I believe you and the Tron Guy from Youtube are the only two reasonably qualified to critique that wired story
palestine4ever:  Anyway, how are the Jews treating you?
palestine4ever:  You weigh weighty moral issues all day.
palestine4ever:  Your brain needs a rest, to renew itself with lighter fare.

Rebbe:  show me your tongue
YourMoralLeader:  you’re right
Rebbe:  if u talk will I hear ou?
guest116:  yeah why not marrrry
Rebbe:  say something

Rebbe:  I think this is a prerecorded webcam. Say something Luke.
guest116:  you dont have one?
Rebbe:  Great!!
RabbiGadol:  Have you been to the mikvah?
Rebbe:  I am a virgin
Rebbe:  no need for mikva
RabbiGadol:  I would not want to have sex with a needah
RabbiGadol:  Yes there is, if you have been bleeding.
Rebbe:  Ok I have been to mikvah
RabbiGadol:  Of course, you might be a homosexual
RabbiGadol:  Gays need not go to the mikvah
Rebbe:  luke, get rid of this lewd guy
RabbiGadol:  But the torah teaches that your kind must be exterminated if you lie down with a man as with a woman, unless you are a woman
Rebbe:  yeah, thetorah is rubbish
RabbiGadol:  The torah is fine with lesbians
RabbiGadol:  Because after all, it was written by a guy.
Rebbe:  torah is primitive fake
RabbiGadol:  And guys like lesbians.
RabbiGadol:  Luke, that beard is perhaps your greatest achievement in life.
Rebbe:  most of torah is based on superstotion
Rebbe:  luke yo are f**king manic depression
RabbiGadol:  Rebbe, which school of thought are you part of?
Rebbe:  rebbigadol. where are you in the world
RabbiGadol:  Near New Jerusalem
RabbiGadol:  Luke, what on earth are you watching/listening to?
RabbiGadol:  And why?
Rebbe:  I was brought up ultra orthodox. I am married, 3 kids ultra orthodox, but inside I believe nothing. You?
RabbiGadol:  Rebbe, how does your spouse feel about these matters?
Rebbe:  she doesnt know
Rebbe:  what is your school
RabbiGadol:  Tell her, and let the chips fall where they may
Rebbe:  what is you school of thought Rebbi
RabbiGadol:  Sister Theresa too, did not believe, and yet here she is a saint in the eyes of the Church.
RabbiGadol:  Litvish-Reformed
Rebbe:  ultra orthodox?
RabbiGadol:  Criminy, what is this in the background?
YourMoralLeader:  that was cheryl shuman
RabbiGadol:  Me?  No, I’m ultra-modern orthodox
YourMoralLeader:  she’s been in a bad car accident
RabbiGadol:  What happened to her?
YourMoralLeader:  but made a video she emailed me and friends
RabbiGadol:  Why is she sending you videos?
RabbiGadol:  I thought she hated you.
Rebbe:  luke, you have a sad life
YourMoralLeader:  loves me too
YourMoralLeader:  help me rebbe
Rebbe:  do tsuvah. go to uman etc.
RabbiGadol:  Luke, you would make a fine reform Jew.
RabbiGadol:  You could be the most observant reform Jew in all of Christendom.
Rebbe:  luke either orthodox or atheist. Reform is rediculous
RabbiGadol:  Reform is fine for those for whom it is a good fit.
SATAN:  i think he looks like a muslim imman
Rebbe:  If orthodox arent true, then the whole thing is a myth…
RabbiGadol:  Or maybe some of it.
RabbiGadol:  Ask Luke.
RabbiGadol:  He struggles with these problems.
Rebbe:  f**k religion and f**k the god scam
RabbiGadol:  Rebbe, why live a lie?
Rebbe:  luke, is there a god??
RabbiGadol:  Get out of the closet.  Where do you live?
SATAN:  he dont struggle wit food do e
Rebbe:  I am too deep in it. Changing would mess everything up. Its a comfortable lie
RabbiGadol:  where are you?
RabbiGadol:  Many New York haredim find solace in hookers.
Rebbe:  If i come out, i would lose my wife and kids and happy life, so its nbot worth it. I can get porn etc. on the net so there
RabbiGadol:  Where do you live?
Rebbe:  NY
RabbiGadol:  Are you a hassid?
Rebbe:  you?
Rebbe:  yes
RabbiGadol:  Which strain?  Satmar?
Rebbe:  Cant say. Protection
Rebbe:  where do you live
RabbiGadol:  Oh, unless it is some tiny little branch, don’t be so paranoid
RabbiGadol:  NY
RabbiGadol:  You are in Brooklyn?
Rebbe:  if i would come out there would be an earthquake. I am actually in a very high position in my community. Enoiugh said 🙂
RabbiGadol:  OK
RabbiGadol:  Get yourself a pelegesh
Rebbe:  Anyone for cybersex?
RabbiGadol:  A Dominican
RabbiGadol:  Dominicans make great pelegesh
Rebbe:  I am not the way I am because of lust. I genuinely think its all crap
RabbiGadol:  Luke, what should Rebbe do?
SATAN:  go muslim
YourMoralLeader:  what he is doing
RabbiGadol:  Luke is much like you in that he really does not believe many core doctrines, but wants to remain part of the community for social reasons.
RabbiGadol:  What do you make of a Jew living in a closet like the Rebbe?
Rebbe:  I am back baybelech
RabbiGadol:  Is the closet any place for a Jewish man?
Rebbe:  luke, would u like me to leave
Rebbe:  look at lukes ampty life
RabbiGadol:  It is not all that empty
Rebbe:  rabbi gadol, would u like to meet?
guest118:  As opposed to everyone here
SATAN:  i think hitler was a very misunderstood man listenin to you w**kers
RabbiGadol:  Rebbe, because of the social implications of two strange men meeting, I, as a matter of public decorem, only meet with women from the internet.  Just so that there are no misunderstandings.
Rebbe:  satan, you need to get a life. Your train of thought hows us that u are unhappy wih your present self. seek help. good luck
guest118:  119 The smartest guest in the room. Image watching an empty cam
Rebbe:  rabbi, i meant meet as in so that you see who i am, not in the sexual way…
SATAN:  yeaaaa
RabbiGadol:  I was kidding. I never meet anyone through the internet.
RabbiGadol:  I know there are support groups for Jews who are closet atheists.
Rebbe:  and even in that context, i was just teasing. If I come out, my life would be over in an important sense
Rebbe:  where are these groups?
Rebbe:   I am happy for someone to prove me wrong, i even yearn for someone to prove me wrong, but all theevidence that I see shows that god is just a myth
SATAN:  ill buy that
RabbiGadol:  I’m sure many practicing Jews agree with much of what you say here

Too Sick To Treat?

Rabbi Gil Student writes:

I’ve been very busy for the past few months and haven’t been able to follow every major story. However, I knew something had happened about a Mr. Golubchuk in Canada, who was very sick and the medical establishment wanted to cease treating him despite his still being very much alive. I recently came across an essay about this by Jonathan Rosenblum (link) and was surprised to learn that almost no Jewish organization had risen to defend Mr. Golubchuk, with the notable exception of Agudath Israel of America. According to Rosenblum:

Dr. Zacharowicz, who initially entered the case at the urging of Agudath Israel of America, denied the claim of the Winnipeg doctors that Mr. Golubchuk was in any significant pain from any of the treatments being rendered, and noted that his medical charts show no evidence of significant pain management…

Despite the obvious importance of these issues to all Torah Jews, there was no well-organized campaign to aid the Golubchuk family. The Golubchuk children were forced to rely on the services of a dedicated solo practitioner, whose primary expertise is in criminal law, against the hospital’s team of corporate attorneys, and have been left to bear the immense legal expenses alone. (Agudath Israel of America was in the process of arranging pro bono research assistance from a major firm at the time of Mr. Golubchuk’s passing.) Nor was there any organized effort to counter the hospital’s media blitz.

Can it be that the entire Jewish community of the US and Canada were as busy as I was and therefore did not follow the story or intervene in any way? I found that hard to believe so I investigated a little and learned that Rosenblum’s account is very misleading (and that is a generous evaluation). Someone who followed this situation closely wrote to me that Rosenblum’s account is "patently untrue".

It turns out that this issue generated a good deal of defense and assistance from the Jewish and general community. However, for PR reasons, the defenders of Mr. Golubchuk (which included both Jewish and Christian organizations) chose to frame this issue as one of human rights rather than Jewish rights. Additionally, there was a conscious effort to keep the public activity Canadian, with advisors from the US remaining deep in the background. This was all part of an organized strategy to achieve the best results (which unfortunately did not come about because of Mr. Golubchuk’s passing).

In fact, many rabbis and organizations were attempting to assist and advise the Golubchuk family. There were a number of PR efforts (see, for example, this Op-Ed by R. Reuven Bulka in the (Toronto) Globe and Mail: link 1, link 2) and Canadian communal leaders were closely monitoring the situation, even if they didn’t agree with every one of Dr. Zacharowicz’s (or the Golubchuk family’s) conclusions.

Just because a family is in a distressful situation does not mean that they have the final word on what is an appropriate reaction to every article or action related to the subject. It is truly sad if they feel that their father was not adequately defended. However, that should not lead others to reach the same conclusion without objectively evaluating all of the effort that was expended in this matter.

I Want To Help Orit Arfa Learn To Become Vulnerable

She writes in the Jewish Journal:

What applies to acting also applies to dating.

For instance, if I meet a really good-looking and charming guy at a party whom I want to impress, I go into acting mode. I ask myself: How should I behave? Should I walk up to him and say "Hi"? Should I stand there nonchalantly and wait for him to make the first move?

When I e-mail him, I overthink the timing and wording of the letter. I become a playwright. Should I think of a creative subject line or keep it casual? Should I open it with "Hey" or "Hi"? And how should I sign it? With "Best regards"? With just my first initial?

I know I’m really infatuated in a bad way when I actually think of implementing the advice of that lame book "The Rules," such as: "Don’t stare at men or talk too much" or "Don’t call him or rarely return his calls" or "Don’t accept a Saturday night date after Wednesday."

Then, if we go out on a date, I try to be, or at least act, put together, cool, perfect. I don’t allow myself to become vulnerable. I don’t honestly share my likes and dislikes, my strengths and insecurities. I worry too much about what the guy wants to hear rather than what I truly want to say. In short, I’m not myself. I’m acting.

Contrast this behavior with a guy I’d consider only as a friend. I can chat it up with him for hours and talk about whatever concerns me, without worrying about what he thinks of me. I write whatever I feel like in an e-mail without proofreading it 10 times. I complain about my day, my problems, my hopes, my dreams. Strangely, my guy "friends" are those who end up falling in love with me.

I think it’s because when I’m myself with the opposite sex, I create real moments — the Oscar-worthy moments that light up a screen or a stage because the audience sees the real character — her pain, joy, uncertainty, triumph. I let go of the script and show what’s between the lines — and what’s inside my heart.

So I’m learning to change my approach — not only in acting class, but in the real-life drama of my dating life. I think part of the challenge is finding the right "scene" partner — the supporting male who can bring out my true character, who doesn’t make me feel the need to read from a script or follow rules.

Maybe by learning to be more natural and hence creating authentic moments not only stage, but also over coffee or dinner with the men I date, I’ll earn my real Oscar — a shining golden man to take home.

The reason that Orit’s guy friends fall in love with her isn’t because she’s natural but because she breathes. Any guy who doesn’t fall in love with Orit, that I don’t understand.

Israel’s Hostage Exchange

Jonathan Rosenblum writes:

Of all the many bizarre elements of hostage exchange approved this week by the Israeli cabinet by a vote of 22-3, the most bizarre was that Israel negotiated as if did not matter whether Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev are dead or alive. Hizbullah never provided any information concerning the condition of its two captives and did not permit any international body access to them. Thus Israel allowed itself to be placed in the position of negotiating without even knowing what it was negotiating about.

The negative implications of this approach for the future are obvious. By entering into negotiations in such circumstances, Israel lowered the standard for treatment of its POWs. Israel should instead have attempted to raise an international outcry against Hizbullah’s violation of all accepted international standards for the treatment of prisoners. In the likely event that Hizbullah showed itself immune to international pressure – something at which its excels – then Israel’s next move should have been to show that two can play this game with prisoners, and cut off all communications between Palestinian prisoners and their families.

When the Confederacy started to kill captured blacks fighting for the Union Army, President Abraham Lincoln threatened to reciprocate against Confederate prisoners. And that was the end of the matter.

The principal justification offered for the release of Samir Kuntar, an unrepentant murderer of four Israeli citizens, who has vowed to return to the battle against Israel as soon as he is released, is that IDF morale depends on soldiers knowing that everything will be done to bring them back if captured.

But it is far from clear how relevant that consideration is with respect to the return of dead bodies. At least one petition of reservists called upon the government not to offer anything in return for the bodies of any of the signatories. Moreover, it is hard to believe IDF morale will be improved by a negotiating strategy that will have the inevitable effect of removing all incentives for the proper treatment of Israeli POWs.

Worse, by treating the bodies of Israeli soldiers as valuable bargaining chips, the Israeli government has removed one of the primary incentives for captors of IDF soldiers to keep them alive. Not exactly a major morale booster.

Nor do the negative consequences of the hostage exchange end there. Israel has enhanced Hizbullah’s status in Lebanon. Nasrallah can now crow that he succeeded in doing what no one thought possible – forcing Israel to return a vicious murderer, who shot a father in the head in front of his young daughter, bashed the girl to death with the butt of his rifle, and caused the terrified wife and mother to inadvertently suffocate her infant as she hid.

The precedent of releasing murderers whose hands are dripping blood further lowers the deterrence factor against terrorists. Once terrorists knew that if captured they would spend the rest of their life rotting in an Israeli jail. No longer.

Air Supply’s First Concert In Israel

Nearly 30 years after Air Supply (www.airsupplymusic.com) first charmed the world with their ultra-romantic hit parade (“All Out Of Love,” “Lost In Love,” “The One That You Love,” “Making Love Out Of Nothing At All,” etc), the continuously globetrotting duo of Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock are happy to discover an exciting truth: there are still new spots on the map to conquer and a never ending flow of new fans to inspire with their live performances.

Beyond their always exhilarating shows, their latest jaunt overseas (from early June through mid-July) had its share of transcendent, once in a lifetime moments. They had dinner with former Philippines First Lady Imelda Marcos; performed for the King and Queen of Malaysia; and had drinks with the U.S. ambassador to Singapore and her husband.

Air Supply also got to play a concert in the venue (Areneta Coliseum) where “The Thrilla In Manila”—the legendary 1975 boxing match between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier—took place. Later, after their first ever performance in Tel Aviv, they enjoyed the sacred dual experience of visiting the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem and appearing on Israel’s version of “Dancing With The Stars”!

Air Supply’s tour first brought them back to Asia for the first time in several years, where they played six cities in the Philippines, including a few they had never hit before: Cebu, Davao and Ilo Ilo. Right after they left, there was a major hurricane that left one of the venues they had just performed at underwater.

“We’re always dodging hurricanes,” says Hitchcock, referring to their July 2005 concert for 175,000 in Havana just before Hurricane Dennis swept ashore; at the time, Graham Russell offered evacuees an impromptu acoustic show in the ballroom of Hotel De Nacional.

From the Philippines, it was on to rock and romance their fans in Singapore, Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, Taiwan and Bangkok before heading for the first time to Israel, where Russell and Hitchcock were mobbed by fans and press almost every moment they were not performing.

“Everyone was asking why we had never come to Israel before,” Hitchcock says, “and the reason is very simple: we had never been invited! We got to play two shows in Tel Aviv, the first of which was at the Shunni Fortress, an ancient Roman amphitheatre discovered in 1986. Both shows were sold out and we had a blast. We were also able to visit Jerusalem, where we visited many Christian holy sites and later, the Wailing Wall. I’m not a very religious person, but I put in a prayer anyway! It was a wild experience.”

After touring those sacred spots, the duo had the unique opportunity to perform “All Out Of Love” on a segment of “Dancing With The Stars,” which features contestants who are Israeli TV and sports stars.

Next up, Air Supply will be finishing their summer with a large handful of U.S. dates (everywhere from Biloxi, Mississippi to Oklahoma and New York) and will hit Brazil again in the fall.

“It’s always exciting for us to play for new audiences and have these extra-musical adventures that most people never have the chance to experience,” adds Hitchcock. “After all these years, we love when the fans are having fun at our shows and are touched by our music. That’s the whole reason we’re out there.”

Massive Condo Scam In New York

Zevulun writes:

According to a Letter by Rabbi Avrohom Osdoba, a Snitch, a ‘Moser’, who causes a Jewish persons arrest, Rabbi Avrohom Osdoba letter proposes that he may be executed, (Killed) literally by Jewish Vigilante Executioners, according to Halacha, Rabbi Osdoba says. Rabbi Osdoba letter is in Hebrew but that’s what he is implying in his letter, indirectly. Now Rabbi Avrohom Osdoba (one of two elected Rabbi’s of the community) is between a Rock and a Hard Place because his prior Halachic Rulling to execute a Snitch could backfire on Rabbi Osdoba now, since currently his own son Rabbi Y. Osdoba is the Snitch which caused the Ezagui Arrest.

From the New York Daily News:

No bail after fugitive developer busted, charged in massive condo scam

BY JOHN MARZULLI AND WILLIAM SHERMAN
DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITERS

Wednesday, July 16th 2008, 4:00 AM

A Brooklyn developer accused of swindling some 40 Crown Heights families out of millions was ordered held without bail Tuesday night after returning from his Israel hideout.

Eliyahu Ezagui, 47, pocketed $15 million in mortgages on condos he sold to families living in two buildings he developed in the Brooklyn neighborhood. Authorities said it was the biggest local case of subprime mortgage fraud on record.

All the families are Hasidic, like Ezagui, and face eviction because Ezagui stopped making payments on the buildings at 770 Lefferts Ave. and 613 East New York Ave. He obtained the mortgages because he kept the apartments’ deeds, rather than turning them over to buyers.

Ezagui fled to Israel late last year after his scheme started unraveling and was arrested on a warrant Sunday at Kennedy Airport.

Federal Magistrate Marilyn Go rejected bail backed by a building owned by Ezagui’s brother Solomon after prosecutor Jonathan Green argued Ezagui was a flight risk, entering The News articles as evidence.

Meanwhile, tenants facing eviction, most of whom knew Ezagui, had mixed emotions about his arrest. Jeff Minsky, who lives at 613 East New York Ave., said, "He has a wife and children, and I don’t like to see anyone like that go to jail, but he did something that is getting us thrown out after he had chances to fix it. He has the money."

Robert Tolchin, lawyer for 17 tenant families facing eviction, said litigation with mortgage lending banks and Ezagui is continuing in Brooklyn Civil Court. Numerous foreclosure notices have been served, but no tenants have been evicted.

"Ezagui passed up many chances to straighten out this mess. The law finally caught up with him," Tolchin said.

In April, Ezagui told The News he was bankrupt, that he had tried develop the buildings properly and transfer the deeds to the tenants, but ran out of money.

In a telephone interview from Israel, Ezagui said he obtained the mortgages, including 13 in his mother’s name, to pay off more than $3.3 million in loans he took out to finance construction of the buildings.

"I’m bankrupt. I hurt my parents, my family and I destroyed everything," Ezagui told The News.
