I’m not sure what motivated it, but your comment on Munich not being so bad a word is directly contrary to what historians who have gone back and determined the absolute and relative strengths of the nations of Europe in 1938 have determined. (E.g., see the writings of Nial Ferguson on this topic.) It was Germany that was unprepared for waging war in 1938, especially against a Britain allied with France AND a Soviet Union that was willing to send troops in defense of Czechoslovakia in ’38. In fact, top Nazi leaders later conceded that they really had no good plan for forcing their way through Czechoslovakia’s formidable natural defenses in 1938. War in 1938 would have meant that Germany had to simultaneously defend itself against the British, the French, AND the Soviets at a time when they simply were not ready. Likely, they would have lost this war. We also know that elements high within the German military were contemplating a coup against the Nazis, and had this war been forced upon them, perhaps it would have happened, his regime would have come to a swift end, and there would not have been a Holocaust (or an Israel in 1948 – at least not in the mideast.) Instead, GB folded, and Hitler marched into the Sudetanland (where those defenses were) unopposed, opening up the rest of Czechoslovakia to easy conquest, and giving the Nazis additional routes for their later invasion of Poland.
I understand your comment to be your way of saying that Israel should leave Iran alone and hope for the best. Also, you are miffed that the Zionist Jews have expelled you from yet another shul because of your inability to play nice. This must be a very heavy blow because, after all, wasn’t the communal warmth of Judaism (certainly not its doctrines or rituals) what attracted you to it in the first place? And so here you are, a lump of coal that is growing cold, seeking a flame of human kindness that the enemies of Christ have once again denied you. I ask – have you no Satmar community to turn to? What about Chabad – they will take anyone, won’t they?
I say you should either:
1. move to New York, where you could be the toast of the town in certain Jewish circles;
2. move to Israel;
3. return to Christianity and begin eating meat.
