This New Generation

Comments to Steve Sailer:

* I realise narcissism is much higher in my generation, partly due to social atomisation and smaller numbers of siblings and extended families, but these pieces all suffer from a serious selection bias. The people who want to talk about themselves and don’t realise or don’t care that they’re being put in a point and sputter article in the NYTs are hardly representative.

“Beckett Delaney agrees. Delaney lives in the Empire State Building, which his parents bought for him …”

They seem much more representative of the scions of the wealthy in the current era, totally oblivious and with no sense of responsibility. (A risk for the wealthy at all times, but the current era seems to endorse it) I’m not American but the few people in my generation I went to school with who were wealthy were some of the dimmest people imaginable. Not that they weren’t intelligent (They weren’t above average though) but they so utterly lacked knowledge or curiosity of the world that it was staggering, I honestly didn’t understand how they could fail to adsorb seemingly any knowledge passively. Each day was a battle not to punch them in the face.

All of them are now employed in essentially make-work, one is a representative with the UNHCR another is running a food cart and has grown a ridiculous mustache, one has become a professional political agitator. (With numerous hilarious contradictory endorsements, I think the common denominator is an esteem for violent protest against the state no matter the context, he actually reminds me of the guy who rushed at Trump, only he is not quite so delusional, but is certainly as aggressive and heavily-built.) All of them seem exceedingly happy, so at least they’ve got that going for them, we’ll see if that smile lasts later in their lives.

But this is the unaddressed problem with my generation, the recession in much of the Western World (And indeed in those nations not in recession) is the lack of jobs for young people, if the effect does not lead to job losses it is somewhat cloaked. The other side is large-scale university graduations which lead to large numbers of people seeking a ‘career’ over a job that their parents would have sought. The smartest girl in my year once told me she was afraid of being overeducated and unemployable and despite her knowing this she is now exactly that, studied French and Classics in undergrad and went on to do a masters in Gender Studies! She is, of course, now insufferable and physically overweight, being smart and driven reduced her mate pool already, but she confounded the problem with radical feminism. (Her sister who seemed normal enough has become some kind of almost parody of something you’d see on an MRA site, I have no idea what happened.) I had a real crush on her when we were teenagers but now she’ll die alone and childless. It’s actually amazing to see how many of the middle class and above girls in our year seemingly forgot to have children. I forgot what the point of this paragraph was, I’m too depressed now to continue.

* I was in an office in NYC in 2000 & they had a pet iguana running around micro-aggressing the hell out of the receptionist who crawled onto her desk when it came running down the hall. I was half-inclined to get up there with her. Both of us were/are from Generation X. The iguana was definitely a millennial.

* It’s not so much the writing, which is okay. It’s the intellectual ability to pack so many tropes into 700 words. Bravo!

* The larger and more terrifying problem is that the article identifies outcast caricatures and not the guerrilla millennials. The guerrillas are substantially more dangerous as they spread their brainwashed ideals while maintaining a normal appearance.

These childish narcissists appear to be functioning and well-adjusted. However, they buy into frivolity and nonsense like universal humanism, systematic racism, anti-racism, critics race theory and the religion of Progressiveanity.

Whether they explicitly understand it or not, their actions and lifestyles spread these memes. Furthermore, these culture terrorists force others to adopt these understandings or they shame them. It’s a disgrace.

For instance, my cousin nearly disallowed his sister from staying at his apartment because he perceived that she was being racist against a black person. Another awful Millennial that I know openly questions free speech because it can damage the psyche of young minorities and cause their poor life outcomes.

* On a serious note interacting with millenials on Twitter has made me realise how damaged many of them have been by the anti-white psychological abuse they receive in the schools and colleges now.

They truly believe – because they were deliberately lied to – that only white people ever did: empires, colonies, slavery, genocides etc.

I’ve seen conversations where a teacher of Arab descent teaching in US schools was berating young white kids about their legacy of empire and slavery – which apart from being particularly ludicrous and hypocritical is outright psychological abuse.

‘Empire’ Flops Overseas as Foreign Viewers Resist Hollywood’s Diversity Push

One of the things that caught my attention when I was interviewing producers in Hollywood was when one said to me that only three black actors can open a film overseas — Will Smith, Denzel Washington and one other person. Otherwise, overseas markets are not interested in watching blacks as leads. I come from Australia and I just can’t imagine many Aussies watching TV shows or movies about blacks.

On September 19, 2002, I interviewed producer Jay Stern (Rush Hour, Horrible Bosses).

Luke: “Did white people go to see movies like Love & Basketball [about middle class blacks]?”

Jay: “I think it did some crossover. There are [urban] movies that do $35 million box office and almost no crossover [into a white or Asian audience]. I’m guessing that Barbershop had an 80-90% urban audience.

“I think we could’ve gotten more blacks into Love & Basketball too. I think black males shied away from it because of the love side of it and black females shied away from it because of the basketball side. In the trailer and the commercials, there was a scene where he said, ‘What are we playing for?’ And she said, ‘Your heart.’ And I think that young black males stayed away from the movie because of it. I tried to get involved in the marketing. I wasn’t able to convince the filmmakers that that was going to have a cooling effect. It was still a good movie, New Line still made money on the movie, but I was a little frustrated it didn’t find a bigger audience. Money Talks did about $40 million box office to an audience that was probably 75% urban. Chris Tucker was not that known a quantity yet in the white world. People weren’t rushing to see Charlie Sheen at the time.

“When there’s a big urban turnout to a movie, it scares whites away. Ten years ago, when there were some fatalities in theaters, there were black people who hesitated to go to a theater house packed with an urban audience. They think there’s going to be trouble. For the same reason they’re not going to a street fair with an overwhelmingly urban crowd. They fear there’s going to be trouble. And plenty of white people are terrified to go to a movie theater where the audience will be largely black.

“Theater owners love Eddie Murphy and Will Smith but if they don’t know the black person in the movie, they’re hesitant to pick up the movie. Booking the theater can be the biggest problem for black movies, particularly in white suburbs.”

Luke: “Have you had any conversations about switching the race of a protagonist?”

Jay: “Many. Brett was interested in doing a movie called Paycheck. Denzel Washington and Nick Cage were interested in playing the same character. Denzel and Will [Smith] are the names that come up as [blacks] who could come in and replace a white lead. You then ask the question if his love interest can be white or do you have to go black all the way. To be safe, you may want to go black all the way, or at least a person of color. It’s easier to go black and latino than black and white because there is a bias in the black community against black men and white women. I don’t think you’re going to have a black man and a white wife that works [in a sitcom or movie] any time in the next few years.

“We may be making strides in overcoming racism but we’re not color blind.”

Luke: “How do black leads play overseas?”

Jay: “That’s a huge consideration. That’s the biggest reason why there aren’t more black leads. The traditional conventional wisdom is that they don’t sell overseas. The economics dictate this. These days, 60% of a studio movie is paid for by overseas. The exceptions are Will Smith, Denzel Washington, Eddie Murphy and Chris Tucker.

“You can make a movie for up to $20 million and turn a profit from just your domestic market but you’re not going to make a $40 million movie starring black people unless one of them is Will or Denzel…”

Luke: “Is there a type of movie you make best?”

Jay: “Certainly multi-racial action comedy is what I’ve done best till now but I swear there’s A Room With A View in me with South American pygmies. People do tend to send me action comedies.”

Luke: “Have you been recognized by the black community for your contributions to black cinema?”

Jay: “I don’t know that I have been but I should be. A friend of mine used to joke that I’m the hottest black executive in town. Occasionally I’ll run into a black writer or black producer…”

Luke: “But not civilians?”

Jay: “Again, it’s all about Brett [Ratner] and Chris [Tucker] and Jackie [Chan]. They don’t know I exist.

“As a producer, you have to put your ego aside. The actors and director will always command more attention.”

Hollywood Reporter: Driven by the ratings success of shows with mainly nonwhite casts — Empire, Black-ish and Fresh Off the Boat — along with political pressure to make shows better reflect their diverse audience, American TV outlets increasingly are greenlighting series that feature black, Asian and Latino leads. Fox’s 24: Legacy, a reboot of the Kiefer Sutherland series, stars Corey Hawkins, famous as Dr. Dre from Straight Outta Compton. CBS has Rush Hour, based on the action movie franchise, starring Jon Foo and Justin Hires, and has cast Sarah Shahi, a former NFL cheerleader of Persian and Spanish ancestry, as Nancy Drew in its reboot of the lily-white mystery franchise.

“It’s color-blind casting,” says Sony Pictures TV casting director Dawn Steinberg. “There used to be a time when it had to be written that way to look for an actor with a specific ethnicity. Now it’s just who is the best actor for the role.”

But when trying to sell overseas, American shows are finding the color barrier is still there. Why? Insiders say it’s because international audiences have yet to truly embrace diversity on the small screen. “These shows are a reflection of our society, but [they are] not a reflection of all societies,” says Marion Edwards, president of international TV at Fox.

Take Empire. Fox’s hip-hop drama appeared to be a slam dunk for the international market: a splashy mainstream hit that felt both of the moment and a throwback to primetime soaps, and global hits, like Dallas and Dynasty. But the show has been a global flop. In the U.K., the first season drew a middling 717,000 viewers on Channel 4’s youth-oriented E4 network, a mere 3 percent share, and season 2 has been worse, averaging a 2.2 percent share with 595,000 viewers. The show first season averaged 181,000 viewers on Australia’s Channel Ten, prompting a shift to the smaller Eleven network, where season two has averaged just 77,000 viewers an episode. In Canada, broadcaster Rogers Media moved Empire off its free-TV network City after season two ratings dipped to 208,000 viewers, shifting the second half of the season to its online streaming service Shomi. While in Germany, Empire, which aired in primetime on Pro7, one of the country’s leading free-TV networks, attracted less than 1 million viewers per show and fewer than 4 percent of the national audience, a fraction of the channel’s regular draw.

“I love the show and we took a big risk on it. But our courage was not rewarded,” says Rudiger Boss, head of acquisitions at ProSiebenSat.1, which bought Empire for German TV.

Adds Edwards: “Having a diverse cast creates another hurdle for U.S. series trying to break through; it would be foolish not to recognize that. We are telling our units that they need to be aware that by creating too much diversity in the leads in their show means … problems having their shows translating to the international market.”

17 Men Reportedly Heard Chanting, Firing Off Shots In Apple Valley Detained, Released

CBS: Federal and local law enforcement authorities Tuesday are investigating after 17 men were detained for reportedly firing off hundreds of rounds in a remote part of Apple Valley.

San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies and an FBI agent were among the units that detained the men–reportedly all of Middle Eastern descent–who were camping out in the Deep Creek Hot Springs area Sunday morning, authorities said.

A 911 caller reported hearing over 100 shots fired and seeing five to seven men wearing turbans and shooting “assault rifles, handguns, and shotguns,” according to a Sheriff’s Department statement.

{snip}

Several handguns, a rifle, and a shotgun were found at the scene, but a records check found all the weapons were registered with the exception of the rifle, which reportedly didn’t have a serial number because it was purchased in parts, an FBI spokesperson told The Times.

Police scanner traffic posted online by the Victor Valley News Group described “a large group of subjects wearing turbans and chanting” at the scene.

“They were up all night chanting ‘Allah akbar’-type stuff,” an unidentified officer is heard saying on the audio recording.

{snip}

All 17 men were eventually released because Sheriff’s investigators say they had no outstanding warrants or criminal histories.

JTA: Five Shocking Quotes From Israel’s Chief Rabbis

I don’t find these quotes shocking. They are basic Torah or a basic function of social identity (the more strongly you identify with your group, the more likely you are to have negative views of outsiders).

(JTA) — Israel’s Sephardic chief rabbi said Saturday that non-Jews who don’t accept Judaism’s basic laws for humanity should be expelled from Israel and sent to Saudi Arabia. But Jews will hold off on doing that until the messianic age because in the meantime Israel needs non-Jews as servants.

“Who will be the servers? Who will be our assistants?” Yitzhak Yosef said. “Therefore, we leave them here in the land.”

Israel’s Ashkenazi chief rabbi, David Lau, last year said it was unacceptable for Israel’s education minister to visit a Conservative Jewish day school.

“To speak deliberately with a specific community and to recognize it and its path, when this path distances Jews from the path of the Jewish people, this is forbidden,” Lau said after Naftali Bennett visited a Solomon Schechter school in New York in 2015.

Lau previously referred derogatorily to blacks at the dawn of his 10-year term, exhorting Jews to spend time learning Torah instead of watching basketball games.

“Why do you care about whether the ‘kushim’ who get paid in Tel Aviv beat the kushim who get paid in Greece?” Kushim is a Hebrew slur for blacks,” Lau said in July 2013.

Former Israeli chief rabbi, Ovadia Yosef, who died in 2013, said in 2005 that Hurricane Katrina was God’s punishment to the “godless” people of New Orleans.

“Hundreds of thousands remained homeless. Tens of thousands have been killed. All of this because they have no God,” he said, adding that the hurricane was God’s way of punishing President George W. Bush for his support of Israel’s evacuation that year of Jewish settlements in the Gaza Strip.

In 2007, Yosef stirred controversy for comments about women.

A woman’s knowledge is only in sewing,” he said. “Women should find other jobs and make chulent but not deal with matters of Torah.”

In a non-verbal rabbinic controversy, former Israeli Chief Rabbi Yona Metzger is under indictment for fraud, bribery, theft, money laundering, income tax violations, breach of trust and conspiracy. Metzger, who was arrested in 2013 as his 10-year term of chief rabbi was ending and was indicted in 2015, is suspected of accepting some $2.6 million in bribes. Israel’s attorney general also has accused Metzger of attempting to silence witnesses and interfering with the investigation into his alleged crimes.

Steve Sailer: Murders Up 84% in Chicago; in Unrelated News, ACLU, White House Cracking Down on Chicago PD for Racism

Comments:

* Watch out Dems! Trump’s call for law-and-order might go over big among respectable folk in the black community.

* Just goes to show you what Obamaniacs really think of black people. They fiddle while the slaughter proceeds apace.

Look! Racist squirrel!

* If the numbers become too inconvenient DOJ “statisticians” will just suppress or spin them.

* I’m seeing a pattern with some of our black inner cities and the Middle East. Without a strongman to oppress people, the ME seems to rise up in civil war and tribal strife to kill each other. In places like Chicago, without an oppressive police force to stop and frisk anyone looking suspicious, the gangs will maraud and rampage and kill each other.

There has a to be a happy medium between oppression and anarchy for these people. Am I dreaming?

* People who live in violent places tend to become paranoid. People who are paranoid tend to blame their chosen victim group for the violence, namely their ‘oppressors.’ They do this because it’s too much of a psychological stressor to blame their own criminal relatives for the rise in crime.

Therefore, you’ll see a direct correlation between anti-racist hysteria and violent crime. “If the police didn’t oppress us so much, we’d be safe,” is their paranoid way of thinking.

* I was reading an article about how Comcast refuses to enter certain Black neighborhoods in Chicago because they have had employees who were robbed at gunpoint.

I doubt Conmcast has this problem when they send their employees to a Polish neighborhood in Chicago.

* Actually, at least part of it has been the weather. Black homicide rates are partly correlated to weather, and Chicago has been having an extremely mild winter.

Heating degree days the last 3 complete months this year: 2855. Prior two years: 3459 and 3996. That is almost 7 degrees warmer on the average day compared to last year.

* Law & Order has several times dramatically driven home one aspect of the Ferguson Effect.

They regularly show officers responding to a call or making an arrest, and a large, jeering, crowd forming around them, with 15+ camera phones rolling in their faces. Is there any person who would not be less effective at their job with that going on?

* Here is a win/win solution. Citing complaints about the police from Blacklivesmatter, pull all law enforcement from black neighborhoods and let nature take its course.

* “The change was imposed after the American Civil Liberties Union raised questions about whether officers were targeting minorities in their stops.”

Officers should be targeting minorities in their stops, since the majority of criminal offenses are perpetrated by minorities who should be stopped before they commit more atrocities, and they are atrocities, not petty crimes. Chicago is a vile, corruption-infested city with little hope of redemption. It is painful to watch the city implode, knowing full well that the officials in charge, in their progressive policies, are simply hastening the day of total chaos and destruction. They will not, cannot, do what is necessary to turn the tide.

* The word “even” in that headline is pretty funny. “Predictably” would be more logical than “even.”

Even the completely neutral “Violence Surges in Chicago as Policing Debate Rages On” has a damning effect they don’t want.

* Here in PA, Senator Pat Toomey is running against BLM, his ads are saying he “denounced the riots” and has some cop lady telling us that he’s a friend to law enforcement. Meanwhile the democrats ads are touting their records on “criminal justice reform” and one guy is bragging that he was the only DA to convict an on-duty cop for something or other. Pretty weird how far apart the 2 sides are.

* So what’s the problem? The black community has spoken loud and clear that they prefer a hands off approach from law enforcement and so this is what they’ve gotten. The people have spoken. The extra casualties are just part of the price of doing business and the community is ok with that. The media reporting focuses on the homicide upsurge from the point of view of the victims and their families and dwells upon how terrible it is. However, the shooters aren’t aliens helicoptered in but are related to other members of the black community. A black is just as likely to be connected to a perp as well as to a victim and they wouldn’t want to see junior go to prison, hence the code of silence. A lot of people in the community are living off the proceeds of drug dealing or other criminal rackets.

* The main reason why blacks prefer to accuse whites than fellow blacks for all the problems of the black community is that whites are the ones who will listen and pay them some heed.

In contrast, a black accused by other blacks will just holler and pull out his gun.

Blacks demand sympathy and justice from whites because they can’t get any from their own kind.

* Dominos faced legal issues because of not delivering to high crime neighbourhoods. They used a green light, yellow light and red light system, for driver safety, where for safe areas they delivered to the door, to risky areas they made deliveries to the curb and to really dangerous areas they didn’t deliver. Naturally due to disparate impact they got critisised for pizza redlining and eventually sued by the US justice department and settled. So now Dominos has to deliver to all areas or follow a onerous procedure if they don’t want to deliver.

Article critical towards Dominos.

Forum posts on Dominos agreement with the justice department (the originals have expired but can be accessed through web archives).

A news article on a driver Corey Lind who probably died because of these policies.

I think his parents lost the lawsuit.

* Crime is up in many cities but one cause in Chicago that you don’t hear much about and may be contributing to the sharp rise in violence is the fact that most of the high rise housing projects in Chicago were torn down over the past decade and half or so. The gangs that controlled the drug trade and other concerns in the projects had to go somewhere. They were spread out randomly through the neighborhoods of Chicago, and even into Downstate Illinois cities, and now the gangs are trying to sort it all out. The gangs lost the lucrative projects but now are trying to reform new turfs in the neighborhoods that they were sent out into. Much of the violence seen lately is just the gangs enforcing their authority over new territory.

The Benefits Of Rounding Up Gangbangers

Steve Sailer writes: According to reporter Sam Quinones, this 11-year-old government program of mass round-ups of gangbangers really works. My recollection was that in 2005, around the time Los Angeles elected its first Mexican mayor in a century, overgrown juvenile delinquent Antonio Villaraigosa, there was a surge in violence and graffiti, which is turf-marking.

Ironically, the former mayor Jim Hahn was defeated in 2005 for the best thing he’d done as mayor — dumping the black police chief and replacing him with Giuliani’s former top cop William Bratton, who is probably the smartest strategist in a field that doesn’t attract all that much brainpower. Hahn’s hiring Bratton broke apart the fragile black-white coalition that had helped Hahn defeat Villaraigosa in 2oo1.

But Bratton had a new trick up his sleeve. According to an article by Quinones a couple of years ago, Bratton introduced to the LAPD a new strategy to crush gangs in conjunction with federal help.

Traditionally, the LAPD had focused on arresting the “kingpins,” the leaders of the gangs. Kill the head and the body will die! This assumed, however, that there were a few really bad criminals and a lot of marginal kids who would straighten up and fly right once the malign influence of the kingpin was gone. Instead, removing the leadership just led to wars to become leaders.

So, LAPD started using federal RICO indictments to round up all the foot soldiers in massive military-like operations and then packing them off to federal penitentiaries in places like Arkansas, where there was no infrastructure for Latino prison gangs like the Mexican Mafia to control the streets of California from inside the joint in the middle of the country.

COMMENTS:

* This is not the Italians. They have tats on their face. Nothing could possibly be easier than arresting these people. They have half the understanding and score settling mentality as the blacks do.

* $20 bucks says that everyone of these guys deported originally walked across the border. And without a fence, they will just walk back in again. This is why the $4-12 billion we will spend on a fence will pay itself back in a few short years. It is not just the quantity of the illegals but the quality as well.

* I wonder why Hispanic on African American gang killings make up less than 10 percent of African American related homicide deaths? Is it because even most Dindus know not to F with MS-13 and Mexican street gangs with direct ties to Mexican drug cartels? Or is it a residential segregation factor where the Hispanic underclass do not interact with the African American underclass very often?

* Hispanics have been ethnically cleansing south central LA for years, with blacks outbred and underbid in job markets. Those actions hurt the black gangs economically as their primary local customers ended up relocating to San Bernardino, Victorville and similar cheaper locales.

* So the feds spend billions of our tax dollars to play Whack-A-Mole against Imported Third World gangbangers, and to use the – completely avoidable – playing of Whack-A-Mole as a convenient cover for constantly ramping up the police-surveillance-security state.

This begs the question: Why do so many Americans submit to our Dear Rulers importing Third World and Islamic haystacks which compel us to hazard our American lives and to spend our tax dollars to search for the needles therein?

* I was in rehab (outpatient) recently. Most of my fellow attendees were there under duress, i.e., court ordered for DUI, shooting shit up (gunz not jus’ needles), etc., but mein Frau’s Versichurung covered it, so I was like the only middle class white dude there. Data point: most of us were, in fact, white.

Anyway, I spent most of my time in a decrepit ranch praying that the oak tree hanging over my property didn’t to commit suicide and fall on my roof, and, like any real gamer, playing Fallout: New Vegas whilst quaffing the sweet, sweet nectar of the children of a lesser god that is Dubra and reading iSteve after the immolation of my third tier toilet legal career for the last couple of years and, thus, I was taken aback by all the young dudes and dudettes with their tattoos who don’t read the news.

I mean, one girl was so pretty that she made yer eyes melt like gazing at the Ark of the Covenant (and had great I was a junkee stories and did craaazzzy shit stories to tell), but had tattoos branded on her neck. I don’t white knight anymore, but, man, I was almost like “Hard to see eye to eye with a girl who only stands collar bone high, but is there anyone I could kill for you?” But, really, all of them were drowning in ink. We had to check in the morning and my fellow addicts were always like “yeah, I went home, didn’t drink, my life still sucks, but, hey, went to a meeting and gottta tattoo.”

The place was run by SJW’s who got offended at the word retard. Good news: most white proles like to say the word retard. Apparently, they did not get the notice. Although, they maybe got the 10% discount from the coupon bug for dumb ass tattoos at “My Life sucks, but I Have a Tattoo, Tattoo Shop, LLC.”

Anyway – based on what I learned about their lives, most of them, in a different time and place, probably would have been fine. Like myself I guess. Now they, aren’t. A lot of it is due to H brought it by Mexican Drug Gangs. Let’s hear it for diversity. Most of the packies my my area are run by Pakis.

I figure it has to do with the end of the white world as we knew it. I get why MS13 dudes are willing to tat up, but yer average white white prole who is 20 years old, never in the service, not a gang member, well, it’s end of days stuff.

* Hillary promises to deport only the illegal aliens who commit violent crimes. So drug smugglers, gun smugglers, human traffickers, identity thieves, medicare and tax fraudsters, and habitual burglars are welcome to stay here and make America whole again.

* Import the Third World, create a fragmented, low-trust society needing saturation-level surveillance. It suits the elites to lord it over a populace that’s a combination of low-IQ non-whites and defeated, demoralised whites, all being watched and herded around by the state.

Trump Is A Realist

From Politico:

Trump’s basic philosophy of living, instilled by his fiercely ambitious, workaholic father, enforced by the tough-as-nails coach at his military high school and honed over a lifetime of ruthless deal-making, is fairly simple and severe: Life is mainly combat; the law of the jungle rules; pretty much all that matters is winning or losing, and rules are made to be broken. It is largely a materialistic worldview; even the brand of Christianity Trump was raised in was fairly materialistic, the product of pastor Norman Vincent Peale, who wrote: “Learn to pray big prayers. God will rate you according to the size of your prayers.”
Thus, for those of us who have followed Trump’s career from the start, the worldview he has trotted out to the public is no surprise. Some people seem shocked that he embraces torture without compunction; openly admires the suppression of freedom by Chinese and Russian dictators; and shows little grasp of ethics, governance or constitutionalism, as evidenced by his insistence that the U.S. openly engage in war crimes (by killing the families of terrorists). Or that he often seems ignorant of history and the economic benefits of free trade, dismissing the U.S. alliance and trading system that won the Cold War as “obsolete,” calling regularly for punitive tariffs and insisting over and over again, “We never win anymore,” as if trade were a zero-sum game (which it is not). Or that he relishes the idea that people at his rallies punch each other, suggesting that his supporters “knock the crap out of” any disrupters.
But, as Trump’s biographer, I can tell you these views fundamentally define the man. And if you’re looking—or perhaps hoping—for something more, you shouldn’t expect to find it. If you are seeking reassurance that the man who could be the next president of the United States possesses a coherent political philosophy or ethical foundation other than this rather pre-Enlightenment code of behavior—that he subscribes to the ideals of the Founders, or has studied and understood American democracy, human rights and our Constitutional system—you won’t get it.
Rare if not unique in American politics, Trump’s views and provocations are consistent with his biography. Trump first became a public figure in the 1970s when, in response to charges of housing discrimination, his lawyer compared federal officials to the Gestapo. From this point on, Trump consistently showed he was willing to use threats, insults, and deception not unlike the kinds of things he says about his political rivals today—if it meant getting what he wanted. His view of life resembled the Hobbesian nightmare of a “war of all against all” with little regard for the social contract that makes for peaceful communities and countries.

‘We may need to have a national conversation about which jobs are simply too rough and tumble for women’

REPORT: Corey Lewandowski, Donald Trump campaign manager, was charged this morning with misdemeanor battery after allegations of forcefully grabbing a reporter at a Jupiter news conference, town police confirmed this morning…

Donald Trump’s campaign released a statement following aide Corey Lewandowski’s arrest saying: He’s “absolutely innocent.”

Lewandowski will enter a plea of not guilty, the statement says.

From Twitter:

* We may need to have a national conversation about which jobs are simply too rough and tumble for women.

* Have to be honest. In Chicago, that’s called being nice. Rahm’s aides and security have roughed me up more than I can count.
