Whatever Happened To Jessica Simpson?

I no longer envy Tony Romo.

I don’t want anyone mocking Jessica for putting on weight. She’s clearly dealing with some heavy emotional issues right now and she needs us just to listen and be supportive. Or it might be something glandular. This is not her fault. Obesity is a disease, not a decision.

Congruence With Orthodoxy

Joe emails:

As I have told you for a long time, Orthodox Judaism is for married couples, preferably where the male carries a spare tire and the woman carries two.

Going to shul and having a place where your kids can wild with other kids so you can take a snooze or pay attention during the rabbi’s speech makes the ritual worth it. Seeing your children say the four questions makes it worth it. Having your children know the rules of hanuka makes it worth it. Orthodox people with children in a community are living in congruence.

Single people in their 40s, are just not being congruent in being Orthodox. I mean, it is fine and I love single people, but, as a single person, you have needs that are really not met by Orthodoxy. You are not in congruence. And you can only be incongruent for so long, which I estimate at just short of your entire lifespan, and when you think about it, do you want to be here in twenty years having to deprive yourself but get to learn daf yomi, or do you want to live congruently, humming some mantra and in a milieu in which your needs are addressed.

I notice that probably no orthodox shul in L.A. sponsors an official singles group. Sure, singles can go to daf yomi and shiurs and come to shul, but it lacks congruence at some point.

YIBH Lockout

I understand that the regular membership of YIBH (Young Israel of Beverly Hills) on Pico and Shenandoah has been locked out by a court order acting on the request of the caterers (Sue and Lawrence Mischel).

She Felt My Stare And Turned Around

I tend to be an intense person and my stares are particularly long and longing.

I just love too much. I can’t help it. Judges just don’t understand.

I often notice women turning around to face me when I stare at their backs.

Damn me to hell for it, but I enjoy the sight of a shapely back.

According to this new book I’m reading, stares can be felt — though they should never be criminalized.

From page 31 of The Secret Source: The Law of Attraction is One of Seven Hermetic Laws by Maja D’Aoust and Adam Parfrey:

Rupert Sheldrake has laid forth his considerable research into this matter in his book Seven Experiments That Could Change the World: A Do-It-Yourself Guide to Revolutionary Science. Sheldrake asserts that "Vision may involve a two-way process, an inward movement of light and an outward projection of mental images."

This means that our minds reach out and "touch" the things we see. If this happens, our minds can have some influence on what is within our vision. This is also corroborated by findings of quantum physicists such as Heisenberg, that our observation of electrons alters their behavior. In 1898, the psychologist Edward B. Titchener tested what people can sense when they are being stared at by another person; his findings were later corroborated by several scientists. That we can physically "feel" a stare certainly implies some form of energy exchange. This energy can be either helpful or malicious, accoridng to various folk traditions, especially in the Middle East. The "evil eye" has been used for centuries to send bad energy to people, such as cruses and diseases.

The NJG:  so, I have to do things, but I watched your vid about prayer/yoga/etc
The NJG:  and, well, though you start off just taking the piss about everything, as I know many males do , I think you did hit upon some interesting things
The NJG:  ok, just thinking now
The NJG:  you think you might have asperger’s?
The NJG:  as well as NPD?
Luzdedos1:  no
The NJG:  see, I think you might
The NJG:  I’ve noticed people that have it, have a bit of an unsocialized thing going on with them
The NJG:  that you have in a similar way
The NJG:  ie
The NJG:  you can write, sometimes, in a really interesting way
The NJG:  but other times, you get oddly obsessed
The NJG:  and you don’t have proper social skills
The NJG:  which you should have
The NJG:  that the social skills thing puts you on that asperger’s spectrum
The NJG:  but it’s not an excuse
The NJG:  ie
The NJG:  staring at a woman’s back
The NJG:  and being and saying inappropriate things to women
The NJG:  you KNOW what you’re saying and doing is fucked up
The NJG:  yet you continue
The NJG:  or if you DON’T KNOW then you’ve got some serious brain issue going on that would probably amount to being somewhere on that asperger’s scale
The NJG:  however
The NJG:  I do think that if you continue in yoga
The NJG:  almost all of your mental issues will get sorted out

Dennis Prager Changed My Life

CJ posts: "Hi. I fully understand what you said regarding the change of your life because if this amazing man. He changed mine too. I took a flight from L.A. to N.Y. back in 2006. I sat next to him. Never heard his name before let alone his show. He sat on my left side and said "hi" to me. I replied. Somehow he opened a conversation with me and he began talking with enormous wisdom about the human condition, happiness and evil. Now, I listen to his show everyday. God bless this man."

Sanskrit Prayers Are More Powerful

Kring emails:

sanskrit prayers are indeed more powerful… i’ve prayed in hebrew, english, and spanish using jewish as well as catholic prayers…. but what you’re using there in sanskrit are not prayers, but mantras, more precisely.

sanskrit is the language closest to human primordial thoughts…thus, it is the perfect language for telepathy… sanskrit, being least evolved (least processed), is the quickest way to communicate on the nagual or spiritual level….

i’ve had it work wonders for the last six months that i’ve been chanting…

My Soul Is For Sale

ChaimAmalek:  You need to turn the tables on the Jews.
ChaimAmalek:  Make it clear that unless some good things start coming your way as a result of your deep investment of time in the faith, you will be leaving it for yoga
ChaimAmalek:  Start a bidding war for your soul
ChaimAmalek:  It is a good thing that my unelected governor did not appoint Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg to Clinton’s Senate seat

I Just Had An Energy Shower With My Qigong Instructor

And she balanced my chi!

I feel great.

My kundalini is rockin.

I just covered the mirrors in my hovel.

My Qigong instructor says mirrors suck energy out of you.

Then I had to uncover one mirror for three minutes so I could stare into it for three minutes — per Guru Singh’s instructions — without wanting anything to be different.

Can Qigong mend a broken heart?

Yes!

Report:

Qigong is known to be very effective in reducing stress and balancing the emotions, hence making one less vulnerable to all kinds of psychological impacts.  Their reactions become less emotional (or should we say less dramatic) and they are able to think things through.  Not only can they choose to forget the past but they become more optimistic towards the future, more relaxed, even more loveable.

Example 1: A twenty odd year old person who took up Qigong primarily because of a relationship breakdown that made him suffer badly, got over it within a month’s time and was happily married a year later with another.

Example 2: A thirty year old male who did Qigong for less than a month had just ended a long relationship, admitted feeling strange for not feeling down as a result.  "Previous relationships, that were not as strong, used to cause me much more pain and heartache, but this time I feel as if am over it the very next day", he said.

Even more strange is feedback that came from a Qigong practitioner who is happily married, but for some reason started becoming a magnet to many women wherever he went, ever since he started practicing Qigong.  A few of them approached him and asked him out, he had to refuse them.  "It has never happened before", he said. "I don’t understand it."

Free Life Advice

Bob emails: Luke, This is perfect for you. Get life advice from a celebrity advisor on a new TV show. Free guidance plus an opportunity make an ass of yourself on national TV. You could kill two birds with one stone. http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac/tfr/1006131088.html

Fred emails: I notice that the Craig’s list ad says that applicants should be normal men. (Query whether Luke meets that requirement.) However, that only applies to the people seeking advice. It says nothing about the men giving advice. The ad also says that you should only apply if you believe your life will be improved by the celebrity advisor, but it does not say who the celebrity advisor will be. I’m not sure that celebrities like Marilyn Manson (or for that matter, Charles Manson) would be be able to provide advice that will improve my life. In any event, I think our boy would do fine in this role. After all, he has been our moral leader for several years now.

Khunrum emails: I believe Luke needs a sales advisor. Someone who will coach him to "close the deal" during those steamy make out sessions on Mulholland Drive. Our boy is always running the bases but never crossing home plate.
