“I was curious how they would handle the Lara Logan incident,” Chamberlain continued. “Go here http://english.aljazeera.net/ and search ‘Lara Logan.’ ” When you do it, your reaction might be the same as mine to Chamberlain, “um…..crickets.” There was and continues to be nothing there. Or at al-Jazeera’s Arabic-language site.
By contrast, the New York tabloids were all over the story:
A group of women rescued her with the help of the Egyptian army? Where was the army while the attack was going on? Who were the 200 men who attacked Lara Logan? The story from CBS News seems inadequate to what happened.
From the beginning the “official” story from CBS smelled like week old fish remains. The story as CBS told it consisted of three primary parts:
1. A “dangerous element of 200″ surrounded Logan and her team.
2. She was separated from her team and brutally assaulted.
3. A “group of women and about 20 Egyptian solders” rescued her.
So we have several eyebrow raising points. A “dangerous element of 200″? What does that mean? Were they wearing Raider hats? In what way were the “dangerous 200″ different from the other thousands in the crowd? If only 200 bad people were there they would have been outnumbered by something like 99.9 to 00.1 so how did the attack continue for 20 to 30 minutes?
A “group of women” rescued her? How did that happen? A “group” suggests fairly small numbers. If a regiment of 300 women suddenly burst on the scene I don’t think anyone would refer to them as a “group of women”. What is a group? 10? 20? 50? How could even 50 women “rescue” a woman from 200 “dangerous” men intent on a sexual attack?
If in fact it was the Egyptian army that rescued her, why was the “group” of women mentioned? Its almost as if CBS wanted to evoke a scene where some bad boys picked on a girl and the women present came to her rescue and consoled her. Sounds a bit like a scene out of Dr. Quinn or Little House on the Prairie doesn’t it? Sort of like things just temporarily got out of hand but nothing really BAD was happening outside of this one little regrettable incident. After all how bad could it have been if a “group of women” could effect a rescue? CBS certainly mentioned nothing at all about a bunch of radical Islamic sexual predators shouting “Jew Jew” as they circled a lone woman for the attack.
There are legal ways to bring in cheap labor from overseas to do brutal work for low wages.
Immigration attorneys typically earn at least $10,000 per immigrant (because the application process is labor-intensive). Unskilled immigrants typically work for close to minimum wage.
According to Wikipedia: “ProjectUSA is an immigration reduction political advocacy group. According to the group’s website, it is “a nonprofit social advocacy group based in Washington, DC and dedicated to raising public debate about the important issue of mass immigration. We advocate ending illegal immigration, reducing legal immigration to traditional, sustainable levels, and a ten year time-out while the country reassesses immigration in terms of the long-term consequences of present policy.””
I first picked up the Agriprocessors story in May, 2004. It began far from Iowa’s cornfields with the arrival of a Chinese national named Hu Yao Bin with his wife and two children on Cathay Pacific Airlines Flight CX872 at San Francisco’s international airport .
The paperwork Mr. Hu presented to immigration inspectors at the airport was in order. It showed that a US employer named Aaron Rubashkin, president of Agriprocessors, Inc. of Postville, Iowa, had petitioned successfully for the visa that Mr. Hu and his family presented to immigration inspectors.
It should have been another rubber stamp entry. But no sooner had Mr. Hu and his family been cleared to enter the United States, permanently, than Mr. Hu blundered badly. As they were leaving he asked the inspecting officer to forward his Legal Permanent Resident card to his intended address in San Francisco’s Chinatown—not to the kosher slaughterhouse in Iowa that was to be his place of employment.
Oops. That’s one heck of a commute. Mr. Hu was promptly referred to a second agent for questioning.

In a sworn statement, Mr. Hu said that his friend, Mr. Hu Shu Bin, had obtained the immigrant visa from the American consulate in Guangzhou, China. Mr Hu had paid his friend US$30,000—the standard fee “snakeheads” charge for a valid visa in China.
In the statement, Mr. Hu Yao Bin stated that Mr. Hu Shu Bin had arranged for the family to immigrate through an American immigration lawyer named Christopher A. Teras, who, Mr Hu told the agent, had processed hundreds of these cases.
When the interview was over, Mr. Hu received a “deferred inspection”. He was released with a request that he reappear voluntarily at a later date.
After Mr. Hu and his family left to start their new lives as Americans, an ICE agent telephoned Agriprocessors. It happened to be a Jewish holiday, so the plant was closed. But a security guard named Warren Timmerman was on duty, and he showed no reluctance to talk to to the agent.
He told the agent that, yes, “hundreds of Chinese” immigrants come to Postville to work at the slaughterhouse for a couple of weeks in order to fulfill their visa requirement, then disappear.
Interesting.
The agent then called Mr. Hu’s attorney, Christopher Teras, a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Assn whose office in Washington, DC, as it turned out, was just five blocks from my own. A “Ms. Kim-attorney secretary”, answered the telephone at the law firm. She too was very forthcoming. In a heavy Asian accent, she told the agent that $30,000 was a typical fee for someone like Mr. Hu, and that, yes, the firm “has successed for hundreds of such”.
Poultry and meat processing firms such as Agriprocessors have a hard time recruiting workers because the work is so brutal and the pay is so low. See my interview with Stephen Bloom, author of the book Postville.
Even with high unemployment, these firms still have difficulty finding full staffing. This creates a lucrative demand for skilled immigration attorneys such as Christopher A. Teras.
In 1995, Christopher Teras set up a shell company, Worldwide Personnel, to recruit foreign workers out of his law firm (used to be Christopher Teras PC, now he works — according to this link — for Lohrmann & Rim, P.C. in Virginia, even though he has no license to practice law in Virginia).
Until 2007, these recruiters could pick a name, file for these work visas, and then substitute somebody else who will pay the fee. Teras had made millions of dollars providing foreign workers to American companies.
In July 2009, a recruiter Christopher Teras worked with filed a bar complaint against him in Washington D.C. for fraud, misrepresentation and double-dipping (violation of rule 8.4C).
Teras was let go by Carolina Turkeys.
Many immigration attorneys would see a conflict of interest between being an immigration attorney and a recruiter.
On his radio show today, Dennis Prager said: There are a fair number of Arab Muslims who believe that the victims of sexual assault are the guilty party.
Why CBS withheld it? Because it does not comport with its narrative of peace-loving, democracy-loving wonderful human beings in Tahrir Square in Egypt?
You get news filtered through the left-wing prism. They don’t print lies. They withhold that which is distasteful and exaggerate that which they want to exaggerate, such as Abu Ghraib. It was wildly exaggerated to give the military and the Bush administration and the military a black eye for its invasion of Iraq.
Caller: If a reporter were assaulted by a Tea Party member, how fast would CBS report that story?

The sex assault on Lara Logan could ‘turn her into a target’ for future attacks, her former boss warned today.
Janet Leissner, who ran the CBS Washington bureau for eight years until 2009, told MailOnline that the foreign correspondent was at risk of copycat attacks now that she is ‘very well known’.
She also urged Miss Logan to ‘take a strong measure of herself’ before going back to war reporting and to consider the welfare of her two young children, her husband and her ‘responsibilities as a mother’.
Ms Leissner revealed that Miss Logan had once before been ‘roughed up’ in Baghdad and left with broken teeth and a bloodied mouth, but carried on with the job in hand.
…Hints as to how horrific the attack was have slowly started to be revealed as the network say she is nowhere near ready to come back to work after suffering from ‘serious’ internal injuries.
A colleague at CBS revealed to MailOnline: ‘Every day is a struggle right now for Lara. It’s going to be a long time before she gets over this, but we are all here for her.”

There’s a Wikipedia user (Kalonymous) who only makes positive changes to Professor Samuel Heilman‘s Wikipedia entry and negative changes to Steven I. Weiss‘s entry.
Kalonymous wrote on Steven I. Weiss‘s Wikipedia entry: “He also runs the blog The Canonist, known for its attacks on intellectuals and other public figures.”
“His [http://canonist.com/ Canonist] blog is known for its personal attacks on journalists, public intellectuals, and others in the media.”
All of these attacks by Kalonymous come between July 19-30 in 2010 until the user is finally told to knock it off.
Not many people make changes to the Steven I. Weiss Wikipedia entry, so these malicious attempts stand out.
This reminds me of Rabbi Y.Y. Rubinstein who in 2009 edited my Wikipedia page to try to make me look bad.
Rabbi Rubinstein emailed me in June 2009: “In the interests of truth and journalistic accuracy I shall be editing the wikipedia entry about you when I get back from a break here in the Lake District with two of my children, so that no one reading your blog, (which is I believe the most anti-jewish thing I have ever seen,) will think a Jew is responsible.”
In 2006, Steven I. Weiss wrote a negative review of Samuel Heilman’s book Sliding to the Right. Samuel Heilman responded angrily on Weiss’s blog Canonist.com.
The New York Times reports June 14, 2010: “Other critics take the authors to task for not relying more on published material. Steven I. Weiss, the head of news at the Jewish Channel, a cable television network, criticized the book for presenting what he called lurid details and ignoring a vast amount of “primary material which would frequently contradict its assertions.” He also chastised the authors for not noting outright that Mr. Friedman served as an expert witness against the rebbe during a lawsuit in the 1980s over ownership of the Chabad library. Mr. Heilman said, “We have no ax to grind.””
After this New York Times article, the assault on Steven I. Weiss’s Wikipedia entry was launched by Kalonymous.
On July 27, 2010, Kalonymous removes a Wikipedia citation in an article on Agudas Chassidei Chabad to a 2006 Steven I. Weiss article.
I’ve sent off an email to Samuel Heilman inquiring about this.
He replies: “I believe a person cannot make entries in his own wikipedia listing. So no. As for Steven Weiss, I have no real knowledge of the fellow. I do know he was a blogger who had a negative opinion of me.”
