Cruz Calls for Immediate Halt to Syrian Refugees in US

He seems a tad behind Donald Trump.

From Breitbart: Tuesday in wake of the terror attack in Brussels on the metro and airport killing 31 and injuring hundreds, Republican presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz called to “immediately halt the president’s ill-advised plan to bring in tens of thousands of Syrian Muslim refugees.”

Cruz said, “This is not an isolated incident. This is not a lone wolf. This is a war with radical Islamic terrorism. ISIS declared jihad on Europe, and on the United States of America. They have declared their intention to murder as many innocents as possible. And it is long past time that we had a president who will acknowledge this evil, will call it by its name, and out lights the full force and fury of the United States to defeat radical Islamic terrorism, to defeat ISIS. Until they are defeated, these attacks will continue. Until ISIS is utterly destroyed they will continue to carry out acts of terror, continue to murder, whether in a subway station, whether at an airport, whether in an opera house in Paris. Whether in a community center in San Bernardino. Their target is each and every one of us. and we need a president who sets aside political correctness. In the wake of Brussels we don’t need another lecture from President Obama on Islamophobia. We need a commander-in-chief who does everything necessary to defeat the enemy, and we need to immediately halt the president’s ill-advised plan to bring in tens of thousands of Syrian Muslim refugees.”

“Our vetting programs are woefully insufficient,” he continued. “This administration has no means of preventing those refugees from being ISIS terrorists. ISIS stated its intention to infiltrate those terrorists, those refugees with terrorists come fog America to commit acts of jihad. And the time for the president’s political correctness has passed. The first priority of the commander-in-chief should be keeping America safe. It is time for us to implement serious vetting and we should not be allowing anyone to come to this country that we cannot vet to make sure that they are not radical Islamic terrorists. That’s part of the problem of not defining the enemy. When you don’t define the enemy, then you don’t have screening programs designed to keep them out.”

Halting Islamic Immigration Is Commonsense

Reverend Franklin Graham says on Facebook: Join me in praying for the victims and families of the Muslim terrorist attack in Belgium today. Islamists have told us we will see more of these attacks and we have to take their threats seriously. I have long supported a temporary halt to immigration, especially for those coming from Muslim countries, until we have a vetting program that works and we can know who these people are. If we can’t get an accurate background check, they don’t come in. It’s as simple as that. What happened in Brussels, in Paris, and in New York on 9/11 will happen again inside our borders unless something changes because the current administration has lowered the standards and our President even refuses to acknowledge this as Islamic terrorism. Our country is in trouble─we have a void in leadership. Pray that God will give us a strong leader for this nation.

Man says he slashed woman because she’s white

New York Post: A man who was arrested for randomly slashing a woman’s neck earlier this month in Brooklyn told police he attacked her because she is white, police sources said.

Gregory Alfred, 25, told police he set out to find white people to slice back on Mar. 10 because he blamed them and “the system” for preventing him from freely smoking weed, sources said.

The slasher chose to take out his anger on 53-year-old Janina Popko, and cut her across the neck as she was walking near the corner of Beverly and Rugby roads that morning in Ditmas Park, sources said.

“He’s just a sick person,” Popko told The Post on Tuesday. “I’m very lucky to be okay. I am still shaky.”

“I never was racial. I grew up in Poland , they never teach us to be racial,” she added. “I didn’t grow up with this racial thing.”

Alfred discarded a large kitchen knife, black plastic bag and an American flag bandanna after the attack. Cops were able to lift fingerprints from the items, the sources said.

“He had bought paring knives and kitchen knives and said he was going to stab people,” NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce said at a Tuesday press conference at police headquarters.

Europe’s Fear Of ‘Islamophobia’ Led Directly To The Belgium Attacks

From The Federalist: These attacks come five months after the Paris attacks that shocked the world and took the lives of 130 men and women. These terrorists had pledged their allegiance to ISIS and were carrying out what they believed to be holy jihad. Although most of the perpetrators were killed during the attacks or in the days after in a suburb of Paris, one man eluded the police. That man, Salah Abdeslam, was captured on Friday after a months-long manhunt.

The city has been on high alert since his arrest. They knew Abdeslam had a large network in Brussels, and that he had been planning more attacks. They feared his network of operatives would lash out. They also discovered detonators in a safe house last week before his arrest. Presumably, today’s bombings in Brussel were a reaction to Abdeslam’s apprehension, either out of concern that he would talk or that the police would soon be on to them, too.

What is shocking the Brussels police, however, is the scale of Abdeslam’s network and its capacity to help him avoid capture for so long in a city that authorities were scouring for him. On the night of the Paris attacks, Abdeslam crossed the border into Belgium with the help of a friend. Although his name was flagged as a person of interest, the border guards’ system had not yet been updated with the information that he was one of the suspects. From there, it’s presumed that he returned home to Brussels, where he continued planning more attacks.

How is it that in a prosperous European country there can be enough support within the Muslim community for a man who had pledged his allegiance to ISIS?

In the months before the Paris attacks, he and the Syrian fighters with whom he linked up were helped by Abdeslam’s family, childhood friends, and other petty criminals to remain concealed. In the months after the attacks, he was helped by what it seems is a massive network of “friendlies” who were willing to shelter, hide, and perhaps even work with him on the next terrorist plot. When Abdeslam was finally apprehended, he was living a few hundred yards from his family’s home—right under the nose of the police.

Here we come to the crux of the problem. How is it that in a prosperous European country there can be enough support within the Muslim community for a man who had pledged his allegiance to ISIS, has already successfully completed one terrorist attack and is planning others, to be protected and aided?

The answer is that this is a problem of Europe’s own creating—and it’s not going away. Beginning in the post-World War II era, Europe was in need of workers to pad its depleted work force. A natural place to look was North Africa, in former colonies of Spain and France. While it was assumed that migration would be short-term, the reality is that the men who came to work stayed, and later brought over their families. Europe made no plan for how to house and assimilate these families (see Christopher Caldwell’s excellent book, “Reflections on the Revolution in Europe,” for an in-depth discussion of this topic).

More to the point, Europe was uncomfortable asking its Muslim communities to assimilate. European leaders felt that would be too reminiscent of the colonial era. Their guilt and newfound “enlightenment” guided them to leave these people to their communities, culture, and religion. At the same time, however, they also ostracized them. What resulted was tight-knit majority-Muslim enclaves often on the outskirts of major European cities (like Saint Denis on the outer edge of Paris, where one of the Paris attackers was found).
