The Left is happy to go on endlessly promoting policy prescriptions for racism and justifying state control of anything and everything along the way. Conservatives do not have that luxury. Racism undermines conservative ideals of individual responsibility, freedom of speech, and limited government in ways it does not with progressive ideals. The Left believes it can coerce equality on a racist population. Conservatives do not. Conservatism demands that we overcome this problem ourselves.
Implicit in the demand for limited government is a responsibility to treat people fairly. Conservatives are not anarchists. We do not eschew moral norms, we insist upon them. Any concept of conservative morality must contain the duty to treat people as they are, not as symbols or reflections of their racial caste. On that moral principle, we have not been insistent enough. But there are ways for conservatives to tackle this issue, and they hold much more promise than the tired digital privilege theory pamphlets so pervasive on our Internet feeds.
The first step is mostly symbolic. It is simply to accept the racism that exists in our society and to call it an important problem. On its own, this admission will do nothing. But it will lay the groundwork for positive approaches and assure people of color that conservatives are not blind to their concerns.
A second and vital step is for conservatives to start developing a competing anti-racism agenda. The focus of this agenda should be the irrational nature of racism, not its immorality. It should harken back to the outdated but much more successful color-blind model, which demands we treat people as individuals, not as representatives of a demographic. Our think tanks and foundations should develop curriculum around this ideal and demand equal access in education. We must demand that diversity and race in culture be treated as a conversation, not a lecture.
It’s always amusing to see cuckservatives roll over, play dead, then wag their tails, hoping to win that elusive left-liberal approval at last. But, as he’ll find out soon enough, the color-blind model is not only outdated, it is has been deemed irredeemably racist by the very people whose favor he is attempting to curry.
Sorry, cuckservative. Even your anti-racism is racist. But this piece does serve the useful role of pointing out that there is no proper “conservative” ideology, as it is nothing more than “what the Democrats said, only a little less of it and 20 years later.”
So forget conservatism. It is an abject failure and has conserved nothing. The only thing that has the capability of surviving and taking down the left is a strongly nationalist American party.

* Much of what Sailer does is meta-journalism. He writes about how journalists are spinning things. This killing relates to what he has already written about: journalists bizarrely claiming it’s silly not to want to let muslim immigrants in because it’s their children who are dangerous.
Also, Sailer is not a news service. If he doesn’t have anything interesting to say about a certain event why should he write about it?
If you are going to criticise Sailer, at least make it a reasonable criticism such as how he has let another anniversary of Paul Walker’s death pass by without commemoration. I thought maybe he was just late, but it has been like three days. Shameful!
* The Washington Post story on the article reports that he shot up an “annual gathering” of department employees. That “annual gathering” appears to have been…a Christmas Party. And it appears to have been a planned attack.
In other words he murdered them because they were practicing their culture and celebrating Christmas. God forbid.
Muslims murdering non-Muslims who were having a quasi-religious/cultural celebration. That qualifies not only as terrorism, but as a “hate crime.”
* Early on in the investigation into the Boston Marathon bombings all we knew was that the bombing occurred on tax day, there were two men involved, and they were both white. Lots of speculation, of course, that due to those facts they were probably right-wing extremists. I commented, however, that there were three reasons why it still probably wasn’t: first, they had used bombs; second, they had chosen a random group of people rather than a political target; third, more than one person was involved.
Bombs generally imply some limited amount of training. A random target implies you hate everyone, instead of having some specific political agenda.
The latter point – multiple perps – is especially important. Every group has its kooks. Those groups where large numbers of people seem to feel comfortable sharing their violent fantasies with their fellow ideologues are the ones you really need to fear. It’s how you identify a group where hatred is truly part of the ideology. Hatred is truly an essential element of Islam.
* The killer has a dating profile:
“religios but modern family of 4, 2girls 2boys I work for county as health,safety and envorimental inspector. Enjoy working on vintage and modern cars, read religios books, enjoy eating out sometimes travel and just hang out in back yard doing target pratice with younger sister and friends. ”
His literacy level is about that of a 7th grader. Maybe worse, using the word “religios” twice. He made $70,000 in his mid 20′s last year working for the local government, no doubt with some very expensive pension and benefit plan. While an environmental inspector of some sort, he also does not know how to spell “environmental.”
* My thoughts and prayers are with those who are devastated by the news that the shooter was not a white male.
* In the picture I have seen of the identified male shooter he looks quite handsome.
This seems to be a genuine difference between Muslim terrorists and white mass shooters – the latter are usually goofy-looking, often insane losers while the former are sometimes rather dashing and have girlfriends or wives which they’re willing to throw away for a perceived greater cause.
* They planned this out – dropped off their baby with the husband’s mother, falsely claiming they had a doctor’s appointment. The kerfluffle at the Christmas Party (I thought those were unconstitutional on government property, these days?) was most likely a provocation to provide an excuse for them to leave and suit up (didn’t want to leave the guns out in the car, wanted to ensure maximal number of potential victims were present).
Yet again, nobody rushed the shooters while they reloaded (they weren’t disciplined enough to maintain continuous fire by alternating their reload cycles), nobody tried to interfere by throwing objects, etc.
The only shooting incident in recent memory where the attacker was foiled was the one on the train in France. It was US servicemen who subdued him.
In addition to all the negative social effects of having a ‘professional’ military set apart from the citizenry (out of sight, out of mind; far easier to launch wars of choice), the end of conscription means that the vast majority of the citizenry have no conception at all of how to defend themselves.
Going up unarmed against an active shooter is something that most people who haven’t received the relevant training and conditioning simply haven’t the intestinal fortitude to contemplate. All these ‘active shooter’ drills – like the ones which reportedly took place at the San Bernardino shooting site – are essentially ‘cowering-in-place’ exercises, and are as wrongheaded and harmful as pre-9/11 airline hijacking institutionalized submission and conciliation on the part of airline crews and passengers.
And I will point out the obvious; if only one or two citizens in that facility had been armed (no security guards?), this massacre could’ve been cut short.
* Muslims cannot integrate into Western Germanic (a.k.a. northern European) society … period. There is too much of a gap in religious and social beliefs and values. The new Muslim communities in Europe and North America will remain insular and separated from society at large. If the immigration continues, the animosities and inconsistencies between Islam and Western culture will eventually reach a critical mass and precipitate civil strife and civil war in the Western countries.
My religious evidence? The Koran. My experience? Two decades of working and living in the Middle East in the military and as a contractor.
Islam does not distinguish between church and state … hence, the widespread Muslim belief (even in the West) that apostates should be executed for religious and political treason. Muslim societies have been described as societies of “married monks”. There is truth to that. Just as Benedictine monks live by the Rule of St. Benedict, Muslims live by what they believe is the Rule of God (the Koran). If there is a question about religious or social issues, you refer to the Rule. Muslim religious, social, and political beliefs are completely antithetical to Western democracy and the rational traditions we inherited from the Greeks and Romans.
Since Moslem societies are family, clan, and tribal based, they have a weak concept of the nation state and majority rule. As a result, on the model of the first Caliphates, they tend to be ruled by strong men who keeps the peace by force of arms. Peter Frost correctly describes these as “clan-based, balance-of-terror ” societies. The need to maintain social and political peace through the threat of terror is real. (Sounds like everything we know about the Middle East, right?) The strong men get their legitimacy from religious councils of imans who judge that they rule the social and political order in accordance with the Koran. To conquer a neighboring state and imposed the Koran on the religious, social, and political order with the “sword” is to spread the Kindgom of God on earth.
Through two decades of experience, most of the young Moslem men I knew in the Middle East went through a stage of “testing the waters” with Western culture. However, by the time they were in their 30s, they seemed to suffer anomie — an identify crisis — and harden themselves in their Moslem faith. They became Muslim evangelists; they devoted the rest of their lives to jihad. Many of the young Moslem men I knew who spent their time in the West gambling, drinking, and whoring had became muṭawwi by their 30s … Muslim religious police enforcing Islamic social standards on the rest of the community. (These same mutawwi are now walking the streets in some neighborhoods in the UK and France.)
The Islamic view of women and human relationships is 180-degrees from the West. They believe that women (rather than men) have uncontrollable sexual desire and therefore must be restrained under lock and key and hidden from the public … hence, the hijab, to the chador, to the burqa. There is no such thing as dating. Women are bought and sold among families and clans in the pursuit of business and political alliances.
CONCLUSIONS
1. A Muslim living and trying to integrate into Western society cannot help but eventually suffer anomie, defined as a breakdown of social norms and values. Islam and the West are that different. (Yes, having one foot in the 21st Century and one foot in the 7th Century can drive a young person crazy.) They must, it seems, eventually choose to be Muslim or Western. They cannot be both. Hence, iSteve is correct that it is the descendants of Muslim immigrants who are the greatest threat to Western societies. It should also be no surprise that young Muslim men and women are streaming by the thousands from the West and neighboring Islamic states to join ISIS’ war on the West . Eventually, we will see the violence spread en masse to the West … perhaps sooner than we think.
2. Muslims (as believing Moslems) can never integrate into Western society. Their religion prevents it. Their religion requires them to war against unbelief and unbelievers, and the West and its culture represents everything that Islam considers sinful. Hence, they must continually work to keep local Islamic communities in the West hermetically isolated and Islamic as they try, as a religious duty, to Islamisize Western society and its religious and political culture.
* Any devout Muslim working as a restaurant inspector in California and traveling to one haraam, pork-serving establishment after another is likely to go unhinged.
* DailyMail initially had headline of ‘Guns kill 14 ….’. It was the guns that did it, not the people using them. This has many bizarre aspects, including the participation of a young mother in a mass shooting; bizarre from our point of view, not from theirs. They just had all these guns and tactical gear laying around the house? How does one just suddenly spring into action with their wife on short notice for something like this?
Media spin is already whirring. They’ll put it into context along with other mass killings so as to downplay the Muslim aspect even as it seems to be the primary driver of this. Perhaps they’ll claim he was discriminated against and that made him snap. CAIR swung into action pretty fast to help shape the public perception of of this sudden jihadi eruption.
* Had the wife Malik survived after murdering fourteen innocents and firing on police and tossing bombs at them, she’d have been one of those widows whom Republicans, Obama mocked, are so unreasonable as to fear.
But since she’s dead we’ve no one to fear without reason except her orphan.
* Just as there are statistics on rates of murder by blacks, whites, etc. it would be useful to have statistics on *rates* of mass murders by individuals or groups of white Christians, black Christians, Muslims, Asians, immigrants, native Muslims, immigrant Mislims, etc. A simple comparison of numbers of mass murders by natives and immigrants does not allow for the fact that there are many more natives than immigrants. And there are many more Christians than Muslims, just as there are many more whites than blacks.
* I’m a little confused; should these shooters be classified as widows or orphans?
* You could feel the frisson of excitement in the media class at the thought they were white shooters, maybe even Trump supporters. Reminds me of the Boston bombing or the live TV shootings, the disappointment you could sense in the reporting when it turned out it was the usual suspects.
* “Cool AK-47, Farooq. Want to bring it by the White House?”
* The news channels are trying to propagandize the shooting as another example in a series of events of gun violence. None of them will give a timeline of Muslim violence over the last two decades. Why aren’t journalists questioning Obama on the Syria refugee policy?
* And their child is now one of those orphans Obama ridiculed us for being fearful of. And yet, isn’t it rational to be worried about what the child of two shahids will grow up to be?
* If you look at the racial breakdown [in US mass shootings compiled by Mother Jones]:

It shows clearly that whites are underrepresented compared to their proportion of the population (especially since this goes back to 1982, when whites were an even larger percentage).
However, Asians are vastly over-represented.
* Black lives apparently don’t matter to Mother Jones. There was a “mass shooting” (Negros-on-Negros) at Bunny Friend Park in NOLA. Seventeen victims. I didn’t see it listed.
In fact, Mother Jones does not list any of the birthday party, graduation party, gangsta funeral, and drive-by “mass shootings” so common in the Negro and Mexican community.
I have to think there is some SJW political reason they ignore all this black suffering. Or maybe black lives don’t matter to Mother Jones unless enough of them actually die in a single incident (as opposed to being perforated by bullets and living their lives as a gork in a wheelchair).
* There have been innumerable NON-deadly mass shootings by more than one shooter. Most recently, several Negro males shot up crowded Bunny Friend Park in NOLA, perforating at least 17 people.
The reason they limit their reporting to “deadliest shootings” is to carve out Negro mass shootings like Bunny Friend, which are much more numerous. Negros are impulsive and notoriously bad shots. Their preferred mode of mass shooting (at funerals, parties, graduations and street gatherings alike) is “spray-and-pray”.
* The New York Times is suggesting that an “American” committed the crime, not a sainted foreigner, immigrant, or illegal alien.
As an “American” from birth, his homicidal impulses must be a product of his “American” upbringing.
Ergo, if you hate the shooter you should really hate your “American” self and your “American” culture too, and not Muslims, foreigners, immigrants, or illegal aliens.
* “American dream” has long been used sarcastically by the Brits as one of their essential put-downs of the US, to be inserted as needed in any story involving 1) a shooting or 2) someone in economic distress. I’m not surprised it’s caught on with our media commentariat.
* They want “gun control” to disarm law abiding white Americans and make them defenseless against their minority thug street soldiers. Illegal weapons coming in across the border would find their way precisely into the hands of the type of people they want to see armed.
* Inviting muslims into your country is kind of like building on the shore in Florida. It invites disaster.
Maybe insurance companies could start offering Jihad riders on their policies. But they wouldn’t pay out for muslims, because – for them – it would be an act of God.
* Some of my lib Facebook “friends” have been posting that there have been more than 365 mass shootings in the U.S. this year. They cite this Reddit page, listing every mass shooting.
For each mass shooting on the list, they have a link to a news article about the shooting. Having randomly clicked on several links, I was shocked, SHOCKED to find that virtually all of them are blacks shooting other blacks.

* Though the lead shooter wasn’t technically an immigrant, had he been one who was granted legal status, he could have done the same thing, bring in a direct relative through family reunification. Thanks to the 1965 Immigration Act, legal immigrants and permanent residents are allowed to bring in certain direct family members in what some term chain migration.
This is why post 1965 immigration has been on steroids. Earlier, overwhelmingly European migration periods did not allow this. Hence, most of us palefaces always had stories about family ‘back in the old country’. Today family left behind in the third world will probably eventually make it here thanks to family reunification.
To allow for family reunification means that existing Americans gets little to no say over who comes in. So long as a newly minted citizen or permanent resident decides to invoke the family reunification rules, they get to determine the next batch of Americans.
Someone once compared this to a country club whose membership policy involved bringing in new members, and then immediately letting those new members select the next batch of members. Then the newest members in turn would be the only ones allowed to select the next members, and so on. Of course no club would do this. What long-standing members would allow such a policy that removes their right to choose new members?
But family reunification in effect does this to the US. Our newest members get to determine, without our consent, who the newest Americans will be.
Let’s discuss this NYT. Why was he able to bring in this woman? Did ICE get to check her out, or was she green-lighted because of family reunification?
* You have to understand that this is a great victory — for Muslims. I expect a ban on all Christmas parties — they cause Muslims to go on shooting rampages, etc. Also inch-by-inch bans on pork, alcohol, and unveiled women. That stuff will happen gradually, likely by a pork ban in all government agencies.
As it stands now, Muslim society is far, far more successful than White ones BECAUSE IT IS VIOLENT. Yes, Muslim peoples live in a nest of scorpions like Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Libya, and Pakistan. Excuse me, Paaaahhhhk-eeeee-stan (the correct media pronunciation). BUT — their way of life does not get erased. On the contrary, it has conquered or is in the process of conquering other people’s way of life save perhaps Japan, and possibly China (which has both repressed and surrendered to Muslims).
Muslims ability to get various other Muslims to band together to kill people to assert territorial control and crush competing ways of life is their critical advantage. White shooters are lone nut cases, and they don’t accomplish anything.
Speaking “beyond good and evil” ala Nietsche, the failure of White shooters to act in concert with other White shooters and critically to not have a drip-drip-drip of inspired murders creates a one-way street of fear. Governments know they cannot under their PC strictures get rid of Muslims, deport them, imprison them, or do much of anything other than respond to the latest shootings — so they Islamify society to cut off future shootings as their is no Big Man to make a deal with. Governments have to make their society Islamic to satisfy the mass of Muslims who are willing to band together to kill.
By contrast, there is no penalty for crushing White men because each is atomized. You don’t have constant territorial killings to preserve or expand their way of life. You don’t have organized punishment campaigns to expose the dirty dealings of elites and governments and make them pay in that form. The “best” White men can do is Anonymous which just targets big corporations and governments from a Left Wing perspective of not having more anti-White male stuff on hand.
* I knew within a hour it was terrorism, specifically the Muslim kind. The attack style was as Robert Baer pointed out common in the ME. Classical hit and run, the couple fully intended to get away. Fact is most Jihadis aren’t into suicide – they just prefer to murder people like any good psychopath.
I also saw how the MSM turned into a circus, refusing to release any details about the people involved – they always fall into this mode when the shooters are either Muslim or black, otherwise they release the info ASAP.
FoxNews was going nuts trying to spin this event as a workplace shooting and even as the authorities released the names of the suspects they continued to spin. Their reporters were literally oozing desperation. Never mentioning Islam or Jihad once. The other networks were just as bad. At least CNN had on Robert Baer who called it correctly.
And they all talk about finding the mysterious “motive”. They won’t mention ‘Islam’, they won’t mention ‘Jihad’, they can barely mention ‘terrorism’. Just like the Chattanooga shooting or the two community college rampages. No motive was ever found.
FoxNews is probably the worst, still calling yesterday’s jihadi incident possible “workplace violence”.
On one level the media and government response is a obscene joke but on another level it means we’re screwed as a nation. Because we’re not confronting the problem and that is Muslims. And in particular the notion that the more devout a Muslim becomes the greater the chances of him/her becoming a jihadi or supporting those who do. Jihad is part and parcel of Islam, it is mandated.
Recent PEW polls put support for jihad among American Muslims at 25%. With all those “Syrian” males being brought in it’s probably like 50%.
They just can’t wrap their tiny secular minds around the notion that Islam is a hyper violent and totalitarian system that cannot tolerate opposition of any kind. There is no golden rule in Islam, there is no notion of tolerance, compassion, etc.
* I think it’s worth pointing out that pre-”Militarized Police” in California might’ve had a much harder time dealing with these two than the post-”Militarized Police” did. The sort of trouble the former had with those two bank robbers who were armed to the teeth and wearing body armor, said trouble being one of the things that led Cali police to “Militarize” in the first place.
* I have noticed that severe and blatant paradox in the list of demands that the Black Autumn extortion mobs are giving to college administrators that largely agree with them anyway. They want no armed cops, no private policing, no policing period, private or public, yet they are demanding various things that can only happen via public or quasi-public force. I guess what they presume is that since they live in a high social trust high altruism world where people naturally and without coercion or force abide by laws or quasi-laws or edicts, they presume that all of society can behave that way without the need for even one armed or unarmed cop.
* I don’t think it’s a bad idea to slow down the gun buying process for the lone nut category like the guy who shot Rep. Giffords. Why not require that gun buyers need to be accompanied by a friend who would sign a register? This would slow down that type of shooter. On the other hand, organized, serious minded groups of individuals willing to die in a cause will always be able to obtain some kind of weapons.
* Turkey has been a firmly secular country for a fairly long time, but unfortunately, it is eroding, because Islamists form the majority of the population, and soon the secular population won’t have a stronghold on power, if they even do now. (Turkey latched onto Kemal Ataturk in a religious way, but that’s another story.) For those who will bring him up, it may seem crazy in hindsight, but Erdogan initially ran as a politically moderate, Western-friendly businessman, and he swore up and down that that his personal religious beliefs would not interfere with his upholding the values of secularism.
* How about rolling back citizenship and extending ownership rights to citizens. But that’s the opposite of what the global elite want – if you swamp the country with people who are not connected to the culture that brought forth the constitution, the constitution, and nation-state will be no more. that’s the goal.

Besides the glaring own goal of basically admitting that the number of total mass killings in America could be seriously curbed (at least by a third) by kicking out Muslims back to their countries, there is the evasive little shit maneuver of neglecting to mention in their cutesy graphics how many jihad mass murders were thwarted by the surveillance state that, if left to execute unhindered, would have greatly increased the Muslim representation among mass murderers, right into a significant majority of all bloodbaths.
Evidence: Fifty (!) terror plots have been foiled since 9/11. With few exceptions, almost all these thwarted attackers were Muslims putting the lie to the shitlib “religion of peace” mantra of impotence. The total number of American deaths from these 50 thwarted “shadow jihads” could have easily gone into the tens of thousands had the attack planners remained undiscovered by authorities and free to execute with extreme prejudice.
So, adding thwarted Muslim terror attacks to successful Muslim terror attacks makes it quite clear to all but those with their heads in the oil-rich sand that the mass migration of Muslims into America has been a
NET NEGATIVE.
The US borders should have been closed to the Middle East decades ago. But we no longer have a ruling elite looking out for the best interests of normal, mentally sane White Americans still clinging to their common sense and functioning amygdalas.

Washington (CNN)Donald Trump touted his pro-Israel bona fides and tried to connect with the audience of wealthy Jewish donors, repeatedly referring to them as “negotiators” during his Thursday address at the Republican Jewish Coalition’s Presidential Forum.
“I’m a negotiator like you folks, we are negotiators,” Trump said, drawing laughter before pivoting to how he would renegotiate the Iran deal. “Is there anybody that doesn’t renegotiate deals in this room? This room negotiates them — perhaps more than any other room I’ve ever spoken in.”
The comments were largely met with laughter and smirks, and RJC spokesman Mark McNulty downplayed suggestions that Trump’s comments pointed to Jewish stereotypes.
“Donald Trump is well aware of the composition of our board and our audience — one that includes many successful businessmen and women as well as deal makers like him,” McNulty told CNN.
But while Trump tried to win over the audience of wealthy Jewish Republicans, the billionaire presidential candidate said he didn’t believe the assembled crowd would support him.
“You’re not gonna support me because I don’t want your money. You want to control your politicians, that’s fine. Five months ago I was with you,” Trump said, pointing to his recent past as a much sought-after political donor who filled the campaign coffers of both Republicans and Democrats. “I do want your support, but I don’t want your money.”
Trump also faced boos from the crowd when in the question-and-answer portion of his appearance he would not pledge to keep Jerusalem as the undivided capital of Israel.
“I want to wait until I meet with Bibi,” Trump said, referring to his upcoming meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu when Trump is scheduled to visit the country later this month.
As he faced boos, Trump fired back at the crowd, singling out one man who booed Trump: “Who’s the wise guy? Do me a favor, just relax, OK?”
As Trump leaned into elements of his standard stump speech, he came face to face with a very different reception than what he is used to on the campaign trail.
Instead of roaring applause, the candidate’s lines touting his front-runner status in the polls and his great successes in business were met with chuckles. And his broad platitudes as to how he would handle certain issues were met with blank stares and not whoops and cheers.
Trump’s refusal to vow Jerusalem would remain Israel’s undivided capital — a sticking point in negotiations with Palestinians — came as Trump defended himself from remarks he made in an interview with The Associated Press.
Midday on Thursday, Donald Trump gave a speech to the Republican Jewish Coalition. These are three real things that he said:
“Stupidly, you want to give money. …You’re not going to support me because I don’t want your money.”
“I’m a negotiator, like you folks.”
“Is there anyone in this room who doesn’t negotiate deals? Probably more than any room I’ve ever spoken.”
The nicest thing that you can say about these comments is that they play on ancient stereotypes of Jews as money-grubbing merchants. The meanest thing you can say is that they’re outright anti-Semitic. The crowd appeared to laugh it off, but observers watching the speech were struck:

That wasn’t the end of Trump’s problems during the address. When asked about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the candidate whiffed. He refused to tell the strongly pro-Israel group whether he thought Jerusalem should be the undivided capital of Israel, and was outright booed. He appeared to apportion blame to Israel for the failure of the peace process, and the room was dead silent.
Democratic and Republican presidential candidates have long appreciated the importance of tapping into the pool of Jewish donors, who are among the most generous political contributors in the nation.
But until recently, Orthodox Jews have been an elusive target.
Like their Democratic counterparts, Republican candidates chose to go after more secular — albeit more conservative — Jewish donors, many of whom were hawkish on Israel; a demographic embodied in the old-line Republican Jewish Coalition, founded in 1985.
But now, Republican hopefuls from the right end of their party’s spectrum are beginning to discover the potential of a separate new breed of Orthodox Jews — wealthy enough to make significant donations, secure enough to pronounce their conservative social preferences and fueled by their anger at the Democratic administration’s policy toward Israel.
The emergence of these new donors has moved libertarian-leaning candidate Rand Paul to take interest in the Talmud studies of yeshiva students; it has motivated Ted Cruz to read up on the weekly Torah portion, and it has sent Jeb Bush to a Modern Orthodox high school to celebrate Israel’s independence day. Outreach to the Orthodox community is no longer a novel idea in the Republican camp — it has become a must.
Tevi Troy, a former official in the administration of George W. Bush and a leading voice among Orthodox Republicans, described the dual attraction Orthodox donors have, especially to candidates on the right end of the Republicans’ already conservative spectrum: “Orthodox Jews like the story Republicans have to tell on Israel,” he said, “and at the same time they’re not frightened by the Republicans’ social agenda.”
Described by some as “Modern ultra-Orthodox,” these potential new donors and activists are, according to a longtime Orthodox political operative, typically “very successful in business, very prosperous, with a yeshiva background and deeply involved in public life.”
It’s a description that fits Richard “Kasriel” Roberts perfectly. Roberts, who is now viewed as the biggest Orthodox name in Republican political giving, lives in an ultra-Orthodox enclave of yeshivas and synagogues in Lakewood, New Jersey. In the previous presidential election cycle, he gave $750,000 to the pro-Romney super political action committee Restore Our Future and $1 million to Treasure Coast Jobs Coalition, another Republican Super PAC. His total political giving in the 2012 elections exceeded $2 million.
This time around, Roberts has been spreading his support between the libertarian-leaning candidate Rand Paul and Wisconsin’s governor, Scott Walker, a potential presidential candidate who has yet to declare his intentions.
In 2013, Roberts invited Paul to visit his home and a nearby yeshiva in Lakewood, and accompanied and funded the senator’s trip to Israel the same year. Paul’s views on Israel have been so cool that he was shunned by the RJC, but they have warmed considerably. As he toured the Lakewood yeshiva, Roberts described him as “real” and “authentic.”
On April 27, Roberts’s courtship with Paul continued at the offices of Torah Umesorah, an association of religiously right-leaning Orthodox day schools headquartered in Brooklyn. During a meeting with Paul that Roberts sponsored there, the GOP candidate focused almost exclusively on Israel and the Iranian nuclear deal. Only one participant asked about schools, an issue where Paul’s stand in favor of government-funded vouchers for private schools pleases many Torah Umesorah members.

Joanna Angel was raised an Orthodox Jew and went to yeshiva. James Deen grew up in an assimilated Jewish family.
A Jew tells me:
You are correct about Deen growing up in an assimilated Jewish family. In fact, his father is not technically Jewish. Sevilla is a Sephardic name, but Grandpa Sevilla married a non-Jewish woman. Deen is Jewish because his mother is from 100% Ashkenazic stock. She never took the name Sevilla, but in any case, Deen’s parents split up in 2001, shortly before he turned 15.
Assimilated or not, Deen did attend the Chaim Weizmann Community Jewish Day School in Pasadena for a few years. So he’s had a modicum of Jewish education. The current Head of School was the Judaica principal at the time, and might have some recollections to share. He was very bright and charming, but had a dark side even then.
Deen has claimed in interviews that someone gave him a dirty magazine when he was seven years old. That person technically committed a crime, and might have contributed to young Bryan Matthew (Baruch Menashe) Sevilla becoming the monster he is today.
Daily Beast: In a radio interview Wednesday, adult actress Joanna Angel said her ex-boyfriend and fellow porn actor James Deen made her fear for her life.
“There were times that I did fear for my safety, but I felt trapped,” adult actress Joanna Angel revealed today of her allegedly abusive six-year relationship with fellow porn star James Deen. “I didn’t know what to do. I felt very worn down and beaten down.”
A shaken Angel went on the Jason Ellis SiriusXM radio show Wednesday to break her silence on Deen, who is facing damning claims from several women who have accused porn’s “boy next door” of rape and assault.
Angel, the porntrepreneur whose Burning Angel label frequently featured Deen after the two met at the start of his career, described Deen’s behavior while they were dating from 2005-2011 as extremely controlling and emotionally manipulative.
Her most harrowing story revealed a moment in which Angel says she feared for her life as she and Deen were having sex at home. According to Angel, Deen dragged her by the hair and held her head submerged in a sink filled with water as she tapped for air. “At some point he dunked my head underneath and it started to feel like forever. I started to think, ‘I’m gonna die here,’” she said.
“I started to get really scared and I was tapping and I was tapping, and finally he picked my head up. I started crying and he threw me on the floor and said, ‘You’re a horrible submissive. I’m bored, I’m gonna go fuck someone else.’ And he just left the house.”
She also remembered waking up on numerous occasions to find Deen on top of her. “More than once I woke up to him choking me in his sleep… He really is a scary person.”
“He got more violent and scary the more famous he got … He knows there’s something wrong with him,” she added.
Deen’s ex-girlfriend and scene partner Stoya was the first alleged rape victim to come forward last week, triggering an avalanche of testimonies from other women in the adult industry.
“James Deen held me down and fucked me while I said no, stop, used my safeword,” she Tweeted. “I just can’t nod and smile when people bring him up anymore.”

Lowell Cohn writes: During the year I researched my book about his return to Stanford football — 1992 — Walsh would take me places or put me in situations he wanted me to see, understand and write about. Sometimes, he didn’t say what he was doing. He just presented me with life unfolding.
One time, he was explicit. This was not about officiating. I’ll get to that. It was just before Big Game at Memorial Stadium and he was disgusted with the facilities for the visiting team at the old stadium, now spiffed up. He took me by the arm, showed me the two toilet stalls for an entire football team, both stalls without doors, showed me toilet water flowing along the floor.
“This is an insulting locker room,” he said. “It’s a sophomoric trick to present a team with something like this. The Pac-10 should say you have two years to bring it up to standard. But they don’t care about the players. They wonder where they can hold their meetings next year.”
OK, so you have an idea about Walsh, how he showed me things. Cut to the Blockbuster Bowl against Penn State, Jan. 1, 1993, at Joe Robbie Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla. Stanford won 24-3. Walsh and I were alone before the game in the coaches’ room, a sterile, small room with cubicles. The other coaches already were on the field, but Walsh lingered, sitting in a chair. I didn’t know why we weren’t outside with everyone else.
“I don’t get nervous for games anymore,” Walsh confessed, his voice dreamy. “That’s neither good nor bad. I just don’t get nervous.”
Pretty soon, the head official walked into the room. Oh, Walsh had been waiting for him. And I had been waiting for him without knowing it. Walsh did not stand up for the official. They did not shake hands as I recall. The official asked in an official voice if Walsh planned to run any special plays, gimmick plays, stuff like that. The official wanted to know what was coming so he and his crew wouldn’t assess a penalty because they saw something they didn’t understand, hadn’t been prepared for. Turns out this is standard procedure, but I didn’t know.
Walsh mentioned one play where the offensive tackles split off the line. “We like to play around with that,” Walsh said. “We don’t expect much from it.” Then he described a few play-action passes in an uninterested, pro forma way. The official made a mental note, turned around and walked out. When the official was gone, Walsh said to me, “That’s so the officials won’t screw it up.”
I had been with him for months and never remembered discussing officials. So, I asked about penalty calls. He stood up — wearily, I thought. “Penalties are like the weather,” he said. “If it’s going to rain, I don’t say, ‘It’s raining. It’s unfair.’

Zuckerberg immigration group launches 2016 reform blitz
Fwd.us is renewing its push to overhaul immigration laws after a failed effort two years ago.
The Mark Zuckerberg-backed group that spent tens of millions on a failed bid for immigration reform is reigniting its efforts for the 2016 election.
Fwd.us is launching a multi-pronged campaign that could spend as much as $10 million over the next year on digital and TV ads, research and polling, according to plans first shared with POLITICO. The initiative includes an expansion of its ground operation into 12 states, focusing on presidential battlegrounds and targeted House seats held by Republicans.
The push comes as GOP front-runner Donald Trump has campaigned on mass deportations and building a wall across the U.S.-Mexico border. After the terrorist attacks in Paris, Trump called the Obama administration’s plan to allow Syrian refugees in the country “insane.” GOP 2016 hopefuls like Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas and Ben Carson have followed suit.
Fwd.us is looking to counter the anti-immigration reform rhetoric in the GOP primary and lay the groundwork for an overhaul of the country’s immigration laws in early 2017 once the next president takes office. Formed in 2013 by tech giants including Facebook’s Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, Reid Hoffman and Eric Schmidt, among others, the group accounted for 75 percent of all paid media spent in 2013 and 2014 to support immigration reform and had field operations in 29 states and 149 target House districts at the peak of the debate.
“It’s a good time to inform people of the stakes,” said Rob Jesmer, a veteran Republican political operative and campaign manager at Fwd.us. “There is a lot of focus on one candidate, frankly,” he added of Trump, “(but) there are several who are out of the mainstream. … From a policy situation if we nominate any of those people we are going to lose. No two ways about it.”
