I Just Interviewed A Hero Of Mine

On October 25, I sent off this email:

Dear Dr. [Lowell] Cohn,

I would love to interview you (about your writing) by phone for my blog Lukeford.net. I have interviews on there with dozens of authors. My work has been featured on 60 Minutes, ET, NYT, LAT, etc.

When I was a kid, I wanted to be a sportswriter when I grew up. The closest I came to this was working for radio stations KAHI/KHYL from 1985-1987. I covered the 49ers among other things. I read your Chronicle column religiously. Your writing is amazing.

In 1985, I was just 19. I’d look at you with awe at Sierra College, where the 49ers trained. I remember you pulling aside Eric Wright for an interview.

I never introduced myself. I was too in awe.

Reading David Harris’s new book on Bill Walsh prompted me to take this trip down memory lane and to reach out to you.

I went to Placer High School (1982-84). Scott Hamelin was in my class. He’s the oldest son of then Sacramento Bee sports editor Joe Hamelin. Joe and I would broadcast Placer High basketball games. Joe and I were good friends for years. He was a mentor.

I’ve now made my living as a blogger since 1997. I rarely write about sports. I’m best known for my writings on porn stars and Orthodox rabbis.

Thank you for enriching my life,

Luke Ford

I’ve always had a huge need for father figures. When I was in school, it was often more important to me to get close to the fathers of my classmates than to my classmates. This was true, for instance, with my fellow Placer High School buddy Scott Hamelin. It was his father Joe (then Sacramento Bee sports editor) I’d call almost every day for an hour to chat about sportswriting and life. Here’s video of me from 1983 broadcasting a high school basketball game with Joe Hamelin.

I just interviewed sports columnist Lowell Cohn for 90 minutes. It went great.

No Wonder Obama Thanked The News Media For ‘Gracious’ Coverage

Jonathan Rosenblum writes:

Senator Barack Obama owes the mainstream media (MSN) credit for a big assist in his election victory. And the U.S. media will, in turn, owe a round of applause to the Israeli media for its pioneering efforts to determine the outcome of national political debate and elections.

In the 1996 election pitting Binyamim Netanyahu against Shimon Peres, Ha’aretz’s political reporter Orit Galili described the press as “completely mobilized for Peres.” On the eve of the elections, Peres responded to Israeli Arab criticism to Israeli bombing in southern Lebanon, “Those stupid Arabs.” Given that Peres’ chances of being elected depended on a large Arab vote in his favor, the spontaneous outburst was tantamount to political suicide. Realizing that, the large cohort of journalists present decided among themselves to kill the story and it went largely unreported. Suppressing damaging utterances of its favorites was by then already reflexive on the part of the Israeli media. When then Court President Aharon Barak told a group of reporters that the Supreme Court could not add more Sephardi justices without diluting it professional quality, the slur went virtually unreported by the mainstream media.

After Binyamin Netanyahu was elected prime minister in 1996, Maariv’s Ron Meiberg confessed “as journalists and as opinionated people, we were never so mobilized to bring down the Prime Minister and to hold up him up for ridicule.” Those efforts included the Israeli Broadcasting National News editing almost a minute out of tape of Netanyahu speaking to Betar Jerusalem fans to make it appear that he was smiling and waving in response to chants of “Death to the Arabs,” even though those chanting were out of his hearing range.

But by then faked tapes were almost a habit with Israel’s media, including public broadcasting. Just prior to the Rabin assassination, the Israel Broadcast Authority broadcast what purported to be an initiation ceremony for a radical right-wing group. But as the Shamgar Commission investigating the assassination determined, the swearing in ceremony was entirely staged “and anyone who was there had to be aware that it was staged.” Yet the journalist responsible for filming the ceremony continued to be employed by the IBA long after the Shamgar Commission Report, and the fake clip to be shown by the IBA as an example of right-wing incitement leading up to the assassination.

What is most astounding about the Israeli media is the total lack of shame of journalists about their efforts to use their positions to determine the public debate. Veteran IBA news presenter Chaim Yavin once boasted, “Without the Israeli press, there would have been no peace process. Without the Israeli press the Intifada would not have led to Oslo.” Prior to the Gaza withdrawal, Aharon Avramovitz, one of IBA’s principal commentators, said publicly that the media must protect then prime minister Ariel Sharon like “an esrog” from the various corruption charges swirling around him.

I Question The Orientation Of McCain’s Advisors

What kind of wimps would be upset by Sarah Palin answering the door in nothing but a towel?

It wouldn’t faze me in the least.

I’d look her right in the eye and say, "Evening, Governor."

Apparently the McCain aides felt uncomfortable.

Oy ve.

This would’ve been the happiest moment of my life.

From Newsweek:

At the GOP convention in St. Paul, Palin was completely unfazed by the boys’ club fraternity she had just joined. One night, Steve Schmidt and Mark Salter went to her hotel room to brief her. After a minute, Palin sailed into the room wearing nothing but a towel, with another on her wet hair. She told them to chat with her laconic husband, Todd. "I’ll be just a minute," she said.

Rabbi’s Son Rediscovers Judaism By Going To Church

From JewishSF.com:

After experiencing a crisis of faith, Benyamin Cohen found a unique way to rekindle his enthusiasm for Judaism.

He spent a year touring Bible Belt churches.

Cohen’s new book, “My Jesus Year: A Rabbi’s Son Wanders the Bible Belt in Search of His Own Faith,” is the result of that journey.

It was shortly after his bar mitzvah, when his mother suddenly died, that Cohen started to feel he was losing his religion.

“We had a good cop and a bad cop,” the Georgia native says about his parents in a phone interview. “I lost my good cop.”

Cohen acknowledges that his disaffection from Judaism wasn’t due to any one thing. There was the authoritarian attitude of his father, an Orthodox rabbi he calls “Dirty Harry” in the book. In addition, the young Benyamin seethed over what he thought was his father’s hasty remarriage two years after his mother’s death.

Unable to cope with his anger, Cohen started to feel his prayers were more rote than heartfelt.

“I was never taught the meaning behind the rules of Judaism,” Cohen says. “I was just taught to do this and do that.”

As he grew up, his feeling of estrangement from his heritage also grew, especially as he watched Christians going to and from the church across the street from his Atlanta home. They seemed to have it easier and to have more fun. And they could eat anything they wanted.

“It was something I always fantasized about, this untouchable thing I could never attain,” Cohen says about the “forbidden fruit” of Christianity. “I knew I’d have to tackle that if I was to grow.”

So Cohen spent the summer of 2005 going to Christian churches, to explore just how green the other side’s grass is. He believed he was “tapping into something many Jews living in America feel,” and since he was the editor of two (now defunct) Jewish magazines, Atlanta Jewish Life and American Jewish Life, he turned his spiritual odyssey into an article.

“That summer whet my appetite,” Cohen recalls. “I didn’t really gain any insights and grow ‘Jewishly’ from it. But I recognized if I wanted to allay my doubts about Judaism and grow, I had to spend more time [in church].”

Cohen laughs when considering if his quest was prompted by spiritual or material concerns, admitting it was “a little of both.”

He doubts that he would have embarked on this journey without a book contract in hand, and says that without the book contract, he wouldn’t have received permission from his rabbi, who also instructed him to wear a kippah and carry press credentials whenever he went to church.

His wife, Elizabeth, also approved the project, knowing firsthand what he was getting into. She’s the daughter of a Methodist minister whose own crisis of faith prompted her to convert to Orthodox Judaism before she and Cohen met.

Live Torah Talk – Lech L’cha

Click here to join the fun on my cam.

Rabbi Ari Kahn writes about this week’s Torah portion:

Why was leaving his hometown a test? Avraham was not exactly the most popular character back home; in fact the opposite seems true. He was vilified, persecuted, attacked and almost killed – until he was miraculously saved from a fiery furnace. Why would leaving such a place be considered a “test”? When we continue our reading of the next two verses, the “test” seems mitigated by a bounty of blessings:

(2) "I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. (3) I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you."
This certainly doesn’t sound like a challenge; in fact, it sounds as if Avraham has “hit the jackpot”! The promises are of incredible proportions. Where is the test?

A more careful reading of these verses reveals an almost untenable tension, which may be the key to understanding the angst which Avraham experiences in fulfilling the Divine imperative. Verse 2 is a blessing which introduces a new entity, a new concept which from this point on becomes the focus of the biblical narrative: the nation, specifically “the Nation of Israel”.

The joyous, nearly incredible news that a nation will emerge from the loins of Avraham, is tempered by the knowledge that a certain tension will always surround this nation. As this nation emerges, we learn that others will never be indifferent. The nation of Avraham’s children will never be “pareve” in the eyes of the world. They will always elicit some sort of reaction from others, always will serve as a source of blessing or a curse for others.

Furthermore, this blessing may be limiting: it is particular in nature, it is directed exclusively to the people who will become known as the Jewish People. In Avraham’s eyes, universal dreams may be challenged by particular nationalistic aspirations. Whereas Avraham has seen himself as a citizen of the world on a mission to help elevate all of mankind, his mission now becomes linked exclusively with this new entity, “the Children of Avraham.”

At this juncture, what are Avraham’s aspirations? Is his dream to start his own nation, or does he wish to impact the people of his hometown? Has his initial failure dissuaded him from continuing his original mission, or does he still dream of local success?

By: Rabbi Eli Teitelbaum:

Let your imagination flow freely for a moment. Imagine you were born in a small town down south. Your parents are devout Catholics, as are all the people in your town. You attend a good Catholic school which teaches you all about the Catholic religion. Every Sunday your parents take you to church to pray. Never in your life have you heard about Hashem or the Jewish religion. What chances are there that you would suddenly wise up and realize that all that your parents are teaching you, and all that your priests in school teach you is totally false? It’s completely meaningless. Would you ever think of questioning what people far older than you say is the true religion? Would you dispute what all the wise men and professors’ say is the real thing? Probably not! After all, you would probably do what everybody else does, whether you understand the reason or not. Why be different? If that’s what everybody believes in then it must be true. Why even bother questioning it?

Beside, being different is certainly very difficult. It would mean fighting your parents, friends, and everybody else. Who’s looking for trouble? Just do what everybody does. It makes life a lot easier! So what if it doesn’t make sense? Big deal. Who cares? You can’t fight the establishment. Besides, would it really make a difference to you what or whom you worship? Would you care if it made sense or not? You never studied philosophy. How are you supposed to figure out that what everybody is doing is wrong. These are people much older than you. These are people much wiser than you. You’re busy watching television or playing baseball. You’re certainly not too concerned or too interested to find out who the real G-d is! So, if things don’t make too much sense, who cares? Even if you’re convinced that all you’re being taught is foolish nonsense, why tip the apple cart? It’s not going to make any difference, is it? Why fight and argue with everybody and make lots of enemies over nothing.

Just imagine what would happen if you told your parents that you refuse to go to church with them, or you refuse to go to Catholic school anymore because you believe that everything you are being taught is just a big bunch of nonsense. You’d be asking for real trouble! You’d be called a real weird and sent to a psychologist for some counseling to set you straight. Or perhaps a few slaps across your face and a good hard spanking will set you straight. After all, you can’t fight the entire establishment. How can a young kid like you dare refute what everybody else says is the truth? Who do you think you are?

Bearing the Body: Poverty, Humility & Chastity At UCLA

6:30 p.m. The traffic’s stuck on Westwood Blvd. I want to go west to UCLA but I pull over at a free parking spot near Westholme (?) and walk 30 minutes to the Faculty Center for tonight’s lecture.

I huff and puff as I struggle uphill.

"You again," says the girl.

I’m wearing the same ratty long-sleeved shirt.

I plough through a couple of pages of The Decameron until a plump lady in her fifties interrupts me.

"Seven thirty? That’s a bit late, isn’t it?"

"You miss the traffic that way," I say.

"I know, but it’s late. It’s dark out. The time changed. It’s time to go to bed. What did you think of the lecture Monday [by Ilan Stavans]?"

"I liked it."

"It didn’t live up to its title."

"You wanted more sex?"

"Not sex. Eroticism. I wanted more eroticism but he hardly talked about that."

"He just mentioned the naked lady. Wasn’t particularly erotic."

Nudity is not erotic, I think. The naked female body needs lingerie and the right mood and lighting to be erotic.

Penthouse knows how to capture this stuff best.

"He had a strong Mexican accent," she says. "When he talks about the purity of the Spanish language, he means Castillian. In the United States, we’re used to the people who come across the border and don’t speak Spanish very well.

"It’s like the blacks. I’m not racist or anything. You can’t even say black any more. It’s African-American. My grandmother used to call them colored. That was in segregation days. Nobody even thought about it.

"The NAACP. That was started with Jewish money. Colored People."

"United Negro College Fund," I say.

"Negro," she says. "Nigger is just short for negro. Negro is Spanish for black."

"Shvartze is Yiddish for black," I say.

"I’m glad for the blacks," she says. "That one of their own because president. I hope that they stop complaining now and start working.

"I’m tired of walking on eggshells, having to watch everything I say in case it is interpreted wrong. I’ve been doing that for 30 years. I’m tired of it. Why don’t they just grow up?"

"It’s payback for slavery," I say.

"I haven’t kept any slaves," she says. "I used to live in Riverside. There was a librarian from Germany. He was very proper as the Germans are. And he got fired because the blacks used to come in in packs and they’d be disruptive and he lost his temper trying to shush them and he got fired.

"My ex-husband was in the Armed Forces. He worked. He didn’t wait for someone to tap him on the shoulder and tell him it’s time to work. And he had to wait two years to get into medical school because of affirmative action even though he passed the MCATs."

The room is filled with students from a Jewish-American literature class. I’m worried that they’re going to overhear our conversation and riot.

I turn away from the old lady and bury myself in a conversation with a PhD student in English.

"He‘s here," says a girl.

I look around and spot a small frail man walking up. His hair is cut close to his scalp, like he’s just had brain surgery. His front top teeth are all false. He must weigh no more than 130 pounds.

I remember him telling me in June 2006 that he’d had serious health troubles.

Oy, he looks like he’s got one foot in the grave.

There’s a reverential hush. Everyone fears he’s not going to be around long. Everyone believes he’s bringing a message from the true world.

The class has been studying his novel "Bearing the Body."

I grab his hand. "I’m Luke Ford. I interviewed you two-and-a-half years ago."

There’s a look of recognition on his face. "A lot of people cite your interview," he says.

"I feel so proud," I say. "Proprietary. I did that interview before you got huge. When I saw that big New York Times review of your novel, I felt like I was invested in you because of that long interview and that my investment had paid off.

"Hey, that shocking scene at the beginning, was that rape?"

"Yes."

"I remember reading the New York Times say it was rape and then I read the scene and I thought it was more complex, but I guess it was rape."

"It was rape.

"My wife, my agent and my editor wanted me to remove the scene," says Ehud. "So I took it out and then I realized that the book just didn’t work without it. So I put it back in."

"I’m so glad you did. It was so brave. People don’t want to struggle with complexity."

"I could talk about that scene for two weeks," says Ehud.

I want to talk to him about how rapists can be good people too but there’s no time.

Literature professor Eric Sundquist does the introduction. He’s big and ruddy, the very picture of health and a cruel contrast to the frail Havazelet.

Eric: "David Myers sends his regards. He’s just now returning from doing good work for the campaign in his home town of Scranton…

"I just want to remind you that there is to be no recording of this event. We are recording it for possible use as a podcast. We ask you not to record."

Hey white man, take your foot off the neck of the secret recorder! Information wants to be free!

Sheesh, I tape and broadcast one little lecture 18 months ago and eversince they have to make announcements about no recording.

Well, how am I going to get my quotes accurate if I can’t record?

If I bungle things up, it’s their fault.

I don’t want to take responsibility. I don’t want to be wrong. I want to hate and to blame.

The gays. I want to hate and blame the gays. If anything is wrong on my blog, it’s their fault. Their gay marriage upsets me so.

Dr. Sundquist talks about a woman who will be presenting a dance interpretation of the Holocaust. It’s her MFA project.

He bemoans how "Nazi genocide is not considered safe ground for artistic interpretation."

Damn straight, he’s right! On Torah talk Thursday afternoon at 3, I’m gonna present my own interpretative dance about the six million. Beat that sheila to the punch and reap all the glory. She’ll be just a footnote in dance history.

Ehud takes the podium. "You’ll have to forgive me. I have a cold."

We’re all madly willing him enough health to stand and deliver tonight.

He reads from his book for 40 minutes. Normally I hate it when authors read from their books. It’s boring. I want them to talk spontaneously.

Yet Ehud’s very frailty quiets the room until you can hear the ice clink in people’s glasses. We’re all hanging on his every word.

He talks about a bloke named "Medium" who got his name from a drug deal gone bad.

Some tough guy said to him, "You think you’re big brave guy?"

And he replied, "Medium."

I’m the only person in the room to laugh.

"Thank you," says Ehud.

The room erupts.

I ask the first question of the evening. "Who in your life was most surprised by the success of your novel?"

"I was," he says.

"How did your dad react?" I ask.

"My dad is quite a character. He has a big ego. He assumes that everything is all about him. My previous book had a lot about me and him, including a scene of a brutal beating in grandpa’s shul in Borough Park."

A female student asks Ehud if he was using foreshadowing at the end of his novel. Ehud says no. He was trying to evoke tashlich.

"Once you read it, it’s yours," Ehud says.

What does he want his novel to accomplish with people?

"Great writing changes you," he says. "I don’t think my novel will change your life. But if it can nudge you a bit…"

Ehud says there’s some of him in the two sons in his novel. "I was around in the seventies and I’ve had some trouble with women."

Me too, mate.

A lecturer asks if his writing was influenced by his Talmudic background.

"It did absolutely," says Ehud. "I tell all my therapists that my mind is Talmudic. I’m always arguing with myself. I don’t know if I wouldn’t have ended up that way anyway. Part of it is a chemical imbalance, I’ve learned."

"Everyone expected me to become a rabbi. At age six, I was given a chumash. I stayed up all night reading it in Hebrew. I remember being hooked by the storytelling, by how wild it was. Rape and a talking snake."

Afterwards, I boast to a friend about my horrible blog.

"You’re not going to be horrible tonight, are you?" she says. "Please don’t be horrible tonight."

There’s a long line of students waiting to get their book autographed by the rebbe.

They speak to him softly and urgently.

He’s patient and gentle and kind.

I hover until the last autograph seeker is satisfied.

Then I jump in front of him and demand, "How many friends did you lose when your novel became such a success?"

He looks at me and says, "None that I know. I don’t have many friends."

Me too, mate.

But I dig ya. And you dig me. We get it. We understand how things really are. We can live with complexity. We understand how a man just has to have ass sometimes and will rape to get it.

Doesn’t mean he’s a bad man.

He just did a bad thing.

Sorry.

I walk out to Hilgard and pause before the St. Alban church. It offers "student-led worship and free dinner" Sunday evening.

Sounds tempting. Hot chix, free eats.

Ass.

I walk down Hilgard past the sororities. If I ever get a professorship at UCLA, I’m gonna demand an apartment near sorority row so I can walk by every day handing out tracts on the virtues of poverty, humility and chastity.

The road to enlightenment ends at the hovel.

9:37 p.m. I drive by the last shul to eject me. Two rabbis talk outside.

Oy, how they must miss me!

Jane emails:

B”H Reb Luke, Having just stumbled across your many sites while searching the blogosphere for Orthdox Jew…..and many hours later…..I chose to write. (The thought was, “I just HAD to write”, but that’s not the truth; all we truly have in this world are our choices.) I don’t know where you are currently holding, but I sure hope you’ve still got a shul, a good chevrusa, and some community around yourself. I want to give you chizuk to do what you know is right and keep dragging your yetzer hara to the beis medrash. You are not only a ger, but a baal tshuvah…again and again and again. Keep working on it til you get it right! You’ve definitely had some rough breaks (childhood tragedy, multiply disrupted bonding, CFS, etc.), so it would be a little odd if you WEREN’T a bit disturbed; you come by it honestly! Yes, I think you are probably at least a shadow syndrome of borderline personality. And that you can become spiritually great anyway. Maybe even healthy in mind, body and soul. And that you could perhaps become a good married baalabos someday too.

They say it’s good to excel in the mitzvahs in the areas where you went off the path. So I look to you to become a role model and a light to the world in the areas of tznius and in rightful speech. Please, do it. Then where you stand, no tzadik will be able to stand. And maybe it won’t earn you a living. And you probably won’t get that delicious attention that I bet you still crave. But your spiritual reward will be ENDLESS. And I will have such nachas from you. (but that’s MY trip.) And who am I? ONE WHO CAN RELATE TO YOUR STRUGGLE, TOTALLY. So, kol tuv, chazak chazak; hoping to hear good news soon.

PS Have you checked out the Jewish 12-step movement? There might be something there that could give you both the community you need and deserve, and the support in resisting your addictive pulls.

Cowards Die Every Day

Joe emails: "Do you look over your shoulder when you walk down the street worrying that someone may be following you? That someone has put a hit out on you? That someone you have insulted or embarrassed will beat the shit out of you? That eventually you will piss someone off to the point where they will sue you and bankrupt you with litigation costs? I know you probably have nothing to lose financially but I can’t imagine that you would want to sit through days of depositions where all your secrets are uncovered and you are the subject of some other Luke Ford’s hate blog."

LA Orthodoxy Is Weird

From my live cam chat:

Josh:  LA orthodoxy exists in a bubble, you guys are so weird.
Josh:  In NY, orthodox converts tend to be super-fanatic, whereas you behave like a FFB (frum from birth)
Josh:  luke, dude, i’m ffb.  i dont wear my yarmulkah to work, i dabble in the finer things on occassion (sex, drugs, etc.), but…
Josh:  i keep that s**t private for the most part
Josh:  i like porn, but i dont broadcast it to the world
Josh:  my cousin was dating an orthodox guy from LA, and he worked as an agent for porn stars
Josh:  i find that a bit absurd
Josh:  that wont happen here NY
Josh:  i wont say his name, but he happens to be a descendant of a great jewish mystic, supposedly
Josh:  here we’re all doctors, lawyers, or bankers…well not bankers anymore, they’re all out of work
Josh:  we may screw around in private on occasion, but we try to publicly sanctify G-d’s name by behaving appropriately
Josh:  everyone here at my office knows i’m orthodox, so i feel it’s my duty to behave a certain way publicy as to not tarnish our rep
Josh:  but you guys friggin rep porn stars!
Josh:  it’s a chillul hashem!
Josh:  you’re a smart dude, and i’ve read your rationale and justification for what you do/did on your blog, and i get it
Josh:  but how is it that you convert and not go off the deep end like other converts / baal teshuvahs
Josh:  it’s like you’ve been frum from birth
YourMoralLeader:  I was raised v. religious, only it was SDA so I am a bit blase about religion
Josh:  SDA?
YourMoralLeader:  Seventh-Day Adventist, i am a preacher’s kid
Josh:  sda’s have the longest life-expectancy of any faith
YourMoralLeader:  yeah, it is a cool religion, just dumb as rocks
Josh:  you shouldnt have converted
YourMoralLeader:  why not?
Josh:  you’re taking years off your life
YourMoralLeader:  ahhhhhhhh
YourMoralLeader:  jews live long too
YourMoralLeader:  if they keep the mitzvot
Josh:  i guess you are a fanatic
YourMoralLeader:  lol
YourMoralLeader:  just testing you
Josh:  my father-in law is a baal teshuvah fanatic, and he’s always talking torah at the shabbat dinner table
YourMoralLeader:  is he learned ?
Josh:  and i’m like, "dude, can’t we talk sports or business?"
Josh:  he tries, hes a good man
Josh:  but he’s got that glaze in his eyes when he talks torah, kinda like he’s been brainwashed
Josh:  but he’s probably more learned than i am, i’m a ramaz graduate
YourMoralLeader:  i doubt it
YourMoralLeader:  can he open a chumash and parse the hebrew?
Josh:  he tries
YourMoralLeader:  too hard
Josh:  he’s dedicated, he’s got the passion, the zeal
Josh:  that’s what FFBs lack
Josh:  we’re like you, blase
Josh:  i envy converts and baal teshuvahs because of this
Josh:  but if i were a goy and were doing some soul-searching, i would most definitely not choose judaism as my spiritual path
Josh:  it’s so unhip
Josh:  i would definitiely rock the kafiyeh and go Muslim
Josh:  that’s a friggin hip religion
ChaimAmalek:  Monica? Emma?
ChaimAmalek:  Back in the old days, there would be all manner of women in a luke ford chat room.  ALL MANNER
YourMoralLeader:  oy
YourMoralLeader:  josh is cool
YourMoralLeader:  i will see monica tonight
ChaimAmalek:  I don’t care about cool
ChaimAmalek:  under what pretext?
YourMoralLeader:  lecture by ehud havazelet
ChaimAmalek:  Is she Jewish or just a sympathizer and fellow traveler?
ChaimAmalek:  You know, like Obama around the communists
YourMoralLeader:  i want an ethiopian wife, white just wont do for me anymore
ChaimAmalek:  I see you going Abo
ChaimAmalek:  Abo is the new black
ChaimAmalek:  Today is a black day for white men
ChaimAmalek:  Once you have had an Abo woman blow your diggereedoo, no other woman will do
ChaimAmalek:  have you heard this latest fad amongst the youngermen of african american culture in NY?  It is to walk around in public with one’s pants two third the way down one’s boxer shorts
ChaimAmalek:  I don’t get it.  I mean, even by Negro standards this is bizarre
ChaimAmalek:  What will they think of next?
ChaimAmalek:  Reading books?
ChaimAmalek:  nahhhh
YourMoralLeader:  I fear them
ChaimAmalek:  You are a racist
ChaimAmalek:  You need to make some black friends
RolfHarrisburg:  So, Chaim, how will life change with the new president?
ChaimAmalek:  What about that rotund black blogger chick you knew back in the day?
ChaimAmalek:  Mine sucked under Bush II, so ef the Republicans
ChaimAmalek:  I never got any bonus points for being pale
ChaimAmalek:  or for being a Jew
ChaimAmalek:  I’m going black.
ChaimAmalek:  I’m certainly swarthy enough to pass as a half breed
ChaimAmalek:  And I’m going to hook up with some black chick from Craigslist and see where that takes me
Josh:  persian?
ChaimAmalek:  No, just dusky looking
ChaimAmalek:  I look like a caricature out of Der Sturmer
ChaimAmalek:  short, swarthy, hairy palms, lots of ermine like hair on my back
Josh:  you must be really popular with the ladies
ChaimAmalek:  All I gots to do is spend more time in the sun and I will be able to pass for half black.
ChaimAmalek:  If I were running a movie studio I’d be popular
ChaimAmalek:  My family is dusky
ChaimAmalek:  Dark, hooded eyes and complexions
ChaimAmalek:  gypsies, I think
ChaimAmalek:  But the negresses of craigslist are so damn picky
ChaimAmalek:  They want their white man to have lots of money
ChaimAmalek:  like we all have it.  Negro please
ChaimAmalek:  Luke and I are fortunate in that our lives cannot be too adversely impacted by Obama, so long as his reign does not lead to or end in marauding negroes in LA or mushroom clouds over new york
ChaimAmalek:  Luke, do you know any neocons?  Do they have them in LA?  They are all in hiding in NY/Washington
ChaimAmalek:  Luke, do you think McCain would have done materially better if he’d picked Romney to be his running mate?  I do.
ChaimAmalek:  Romney had the cash and the mormon zeal to press any advantage
welshdragon:  RUNNING MATE? ALL TYHE BLACKS VOTED FOR OBAMA ON THA BAISI OF COLOUR NOT POLICY?
ChaimAmalek:  McCain, and I’m sorry to say this since I’m fast approaching him in years, was just too old
ChaimAmalek:  I mean it would’ve helped him among white people
Josh:  my friends, it’s all min-hashamayim
ChaimAmalek:  Whites still went for McCain, for what that was worth
welshdragon:  I’M FROM UK AND CAN SEE THat from here!!
ChaimAmalek:  But there are not enough of us left here
ChaimAmalek:  Because women like MONICA are squandering the most fertile years of their lives getting an education that nobody but themselves cares about
ChaimAmalek:  It is a kind of self-genocide that has been going on for 30 years
ChaimAmalek:  MONICA, we need you to procreate, not to waste time talking about Levinas

Josh:  haredi jews will be the face of judaism 100 years from now
Melchiades:  What’s this about?
ChaimAmalek:  Unless their inbreeding destroys them first
Melchiades:  seems pretty extremist
ChaimAmalek:  Looking to the future, MONICA MUST BREED
ChaimAmalek:  Ditto Emma, with a strapping young Shamus
Melchiades:  wow this is messed up
Melchiades:  more please
YourMoralLeader:  how would i be treated on the Upper West Side?
Melchiades:  that dude on the cam has a nice beard
YourMoralLeader:  Would I get respect or dissed?
Melchiades:  pedo-look
ChaimAmalek:  Like a Prince amongst the secular Jews
Melchiades:  pedo-beard + pedo-laugh = one succesful cam
ChaimAmalek:  96% of the black vote went for Obama, and I think around 54% of the White vote went for McCain, but young whites went for Obama in a big way

ChaimAmalek:  Luke you might clean up in New York.  You could support yourself here the way Mark Twain did, by conducting lectures on porn and torah
ChaimAmalek:  What the hell is he laughing at?
ChaimAmalek:  I don’t see why you stay in LA, living in your gutter home
welshdragon:  i’d vote for luke on the basis he can pull teenagers from europe-lmfao!!
ChaimAmalek:  he has not proven that yet

Josh:  luke, on another note, how do you reconcile your religious beliefs with your new-found friendship with Marc Gafni
ChaimAmalek:  You know, I don’t think he is laughing at anything here, just at some internal dialogue that only he can hear
YourMoralLeader:  josh, it’s just a dialogue, i do that with all sorts of people
Josh:  Gafni scares me
Josh:  i watched parts of your dialogue with him and he has a tremendous charisma which is frightening
ChaimAmalek:  I would rather watch Monica
ChaimAmalek:  What a fine shiksa!  Luke sure can pick ’em
ChaimAmalek:  I think I like her even better than Holly
Josh:  you may talk to lots of people, but your body language indicates sympathy for the fellow
ChaimAmalek:  I’m seeing lots more interracial personal ads on craigslist
Josh:  luke, the reason why i am saying this (and please don’t misundersatnd what i am trying to get across), is that, as a convert to judaism, you are more susceptible to the seduction of such a character
YourMoralLeader:  i am much more likely to be seduced by women
ChaimAmalek:  He’s right.  As for me, I am susceptible to the seduction of Emma.  I’d convert for her
ChaimAmalek:  Mighty is the young shiksa’s pheromones
YourMoralLeader:  josh, i hung out in the porn world for 12 yrs, i don’t get seduced
Josh:  mental, emotional, and religious seduction is far fiercer than sexual seduction
ChaimAmalek:  What about that 50 year old chick you banged 15 years ago?
YourMoralLeader:  a mere moment of weakness
YourMoralLeader:  investigative journalism
YourMoralLeader:  participatory journalism
