New York’s Surge In Crime

Comments to Steve Sailer:

* You know who I blame for the rise in homicides in New York City? I blame it on the Hasidic Jews with their sagging pants and the way they hold their guns sideways gangsta style. Hasidic Jews are thug life riders East Side till they die. Gangbangin is a way of life for them.

* Well there’s a new sheriff in town, except, he’s not a law and order type of guy. De Blasio runs on an extreme liberal agenda, with a implied anti-police bias and the bad guys take note. The ultra libs voters don’t care because the crime isn’t in their neighborhoods…yet. When the crime and shootings happen in the gentrified neighborhoods things will change quickly.

* Notice how the NYT did not mention the killing of the unarmed black man in New York.

* Notice that the problem is the fault of the police force, for being “skeptical” toward Hizzonner de Blasio.

* So the police take a more hands-off approach to policing as our cities get less white and more black and latino, crime goes up…no, nothing to talk about here.

* New Yorkers, it’s simple:

You can have stop and frisk.

You can have segregation.

You can have high violent crime.

Pick one.

Black Vs White Smarts

Comments to Steve Sailer:

* …the in-depth research done by Harvard’s admissions department in the 1970s, as summarized in Klitgaard’s “Choosing Elites.” Initially, Harvard figured there were black diamonds in the ghetto rough that they could find. But soon realized there were very, very few black individuals from bad backgrounds who could make it at Harvard, and the ones they did let in had a nasty habit of committing crimes against their fellow students. So Harvard went back to pretty much only admitting Obama-type blacks, which has worked out well for Harvard.

* I was thinking more like guys who would have an 80 IQ but under optimal conditions could have a 110 IQ and be leaders of men with IQ’s of say 120, maybe 125, because of good instincts, presence and attitude. One thing that guys who basically have never spent time socializing with black people don’t get is what I mean by instincts. You’ve mention before how their facile at the kind of small talk that makes girls smile. That’s very true. They also have that sixth sense, like a dog that can smell fear. Which is why they’re so sensitive to white racism, even know. They really can feel how you are receiving them beyond reading body language. How many old black guys have told you apropos of nothing that they miss segregation when they had theirs and we had ours? Three have said that to me, because slight socially awkward moments bother black people A LOT, its totally opposed to their instincts, and that’s what they have to live with now in little ways every day, most of them. Anyhow, I’d be shocked to learn there were shrinking rich white boys at Harvard who didn’t take their lumps and go get their stuff back from the out-of-towners, but I suppose it’s conceivable that they tattle-tailed to Dean Pamperme, and you def have the encyclopedic mind on me, so I’ll trust your recollection. Really though what intrigues or rather almost intrigues me about the issue is a site like thyblackman.com. If only we could teach them to aim at the right targets instead of aiming at their own…the future of the media could maybe become more interesting, I think. Cause they tend not to be scared of smoking Js in public.

* I think your question can be partly resolved by looking at the literature on compensatory education, particularly that targeted on black children. For early childhood the results are variable, and at least one meta-analysis suggests that the best known studies, such as the Abecedarian project, are outliers showing much better outcomes than most of the other projects. I am working on a post about that topic at the moment. For later interventions there are many reported studies, but most of the better evaluations are more guarded about whether there are big effects on intellectual ability. There is also a literature, race aside, about whether more years of schooling in late adolescence have a positive effect on intelligence. Many first class researchers believe that to be the case, but I find the statistical arguments somewhat complex, and I am not yet convinced.

* I believe that IQ research shows that any early IQ gains due to the usual interventions wash out and by the time you are in your late teens, it is fixed for life.

* 50% of the racial gap difference is non-genetic, but no one knows what that means : chance, random, unmeasurable events, even an in utero event. It has nothing to do with talking more to your babbling infant or placing a copy of Shakespeare’s works on the coffee table.

Are Men Smarter Than Women?

Dr. James Thompson writes: “The paradox about sex differences in brain being greater than for intelligence has, to my imperfect recollection, been attempted to be resolved in three main ways. 1) Men are in fact brighter than women, though girls are brighter than boys, because men mature much later (Richard Lynn’s work) 2) Men’s greater brain size is due to better visuo-spatial skills, which ought to be given greater weight in intelligence testing (JP Rushton) 3) sex differences items have been dropped from intelligence tests, thus blurring real sex differences in intelligence…”

The Decline Of Christianity In America

I had this discussion on FB.

Luke: As a churchgoing Christian, Tom, do you welcome the decline of Christianity in America (eg that Pew Research poll)? As an outsider, I don’t understand why any country that was once dominantly one religion would welcome that decline and displacement by frequently hostile other religions.

Larry Cohen: How do you define “one religion” Luke? If you remember your colonial history, there was frequent hostility between very different sects and denominations of Christianity. For example, puritan Roger Williams was banned from Salem, MA and founded Rhode Island in large part as a colony for people who wanted to freely practice their religion (usually their non-Puritan brand of Christianity). William Penn, founder of Pennsylvania, was an ardent English Quaker who attacked the Catholic/Anglican doctrine of the Trinity and was imprisoned in the Tower of London for doing so. Charles II issued Penn a charter for Pennsylvania essentially to rid England of its troublesome Quakers (Christians, though treated as heretics). Several of our nation’s founders, in particular the brilliant Thomas Jefferson, were Deists, uncommitted to any Christian denomination. In opposing the civil establishment of any religion, Jefferson wrote: “I am for freedom of religion, and against all maneuvers to bring about a legal ascendency of one sect over another.” I can go on with more examples. Basically, America was predominantly populated by people who considered themselves Christian, but their beliefs were expressed by many sectarian variations, often at extreme odds with each other. That’s why our constitution endorsed the separation of Church and State and the acceptance of ALL religions as well as the right to not believe in a god or gods at all.

Luke: I assume that others have the same desire for group cohesion that my group does. I can assure you that if Israel were 99% Jewish, it would not welcome a decline in those numbers. My understanding is that the creators of the USA were predominantly Protestants or from that background. Why they would welcome eclipse of power and numbers is beyond me. I don’t know why any cohesive nation would want more diversity because that always results in increased conflict.

Larry Cohen: Your understanding is correct, but those predominantly Protestant “creators,” or at least the consensus that was formed, agreed that no religion should be established by the State and that tolerance for all religions (and for lack of religious belief) was necessary for a free society (not counting slaves, of course). By the way, “group cohesion” is an acceptable desire, but it does not justify imposing one group’s interpretations and beliefs on others or directly frustrating their different tenets and expressions of belief or actions, provided that nothing illegal is being undertaken by such other group (i.e., fraud, discrimination, slander, assault and battery, etc.).

Luke: I can’t think of any successful cohesive groups that do not do all the things you deplore. Can you? I’m not an expert, but I think this religious liberty was meant to only include Protestants. There are no rabbinic conceptions of a Torah state that do not do all the things you deplore, but perhaps it is only appropriate for Jews to do these things, not goyim.

Tom: I don’t necessarily welcome it, Luke Ford, but neither do I view it as a catastrophe. I believe God is in control and will care for all of us in the end. The only point of church is to help us find a workable relationship to the Eternal, which cares nothing for demographics and doctrinal fine points. Being in a shrinking congregation doesn’t make a belief untrue, and I’m not threatened by the beliefs (or not) of others. I’m suspicious of those hawking “church growth” strategies, tearing down other faiths and getting all panicky about the future. It strikes me as immature and it makes me wonder if those folks are more worshipful of the balance sheet than they are of the unchanging God.

Luke: As an outsider to Christianity, I do not welcome America and the world becoming less Christian, seemingly, every day and I am very concerned about demographics. I see our trajectory as a catastrophe. I love the countries that Protestants have uniquely created and I hate to see the decline of the WASP. I believe we have to act as though God is leaving things entirely up to us. I am more concerned with the present than with “the end.” I don’t give a toss about doctrinal fine points and I don’t care much about theological truth. I hope I don’t sound rude. I’m trying to say I love what Protestants created and I hate seeing them decline in power. America was better when it was ruled by Protestants. As for tearing down others, the stronger your in-group identity, the more likely you are to have negative views of out-groups. It’s easy to be tolerant and not strongly identifying. Count me as one who is panicking about the future.

Tom: Be of good cheer, my friend. God is in His Heaven and all is right with the world — no matter what the newspapers say and no matter what lapels we put on each other.

I Don’t Notice Israel Taking In A Lot Of Boat People

How come it is a big deal when Russia does hasbara but not when Israel does it?

Comments to Steve Sailer:

* The sad part was getting my vaguely not exactly entirely pro-Israel comments deleted multiple times from Instapundit multiple times because they weren’t sufficiently deferential to the Tribe. It was an article about the S.S. St Louis in which the author slammed FDR for not taking in a handful of boat people 76 years ago while conveniently not noticing that Israel ain’t exactly taking in a lot of boat people today.

* The passengers on the St Louis were fleeing a country — Germany — that was determined to kill every last one of them. African migrants into Israel are hardly in that situation. At most, they’re escaping home countries that have a lot of violent chaos and random murder, and in any case once they reach Israel they’ve crossed through at least one more country (Egypt and possibly Sudan too) so technically they’ve already escaped their home country.

As it happens, back in the 70s and 80s Israel took in a fair number of Vietnamese boat people (not Jewish, in case you’re wondering), who really were refugees in a meaningful sense.

* Google the column by Phyllis Chesler. It is brazenly dishonest in every respect. She falsely reports the number of St. Louis passengers who died in the Holocaust and claims that only some of them were accepted by other countries. She does not mention that the passengers did not seek refuge in the Dominican Republic, despite that countries offer to accept 100,000 Jewish refugees (must have been afraid of vibrant Dominican neighborhoods).

Her article mentions both boat people and the current situation in the Middle East, but does not mention that Israel ain’t taking in a single goddamned one of them, while viciously criticizing FDR and America for not taking in a few Jewish refugees 76 years ago. She attacks American anti-Semitism but mentions the Syrian Jewish community in New York without noting their viciously racist practices which Steve has posted on over the years. She insinuates that American immigration policies of yesteryear were racist without mentioning how rich, corrupt Jews have used their money and influence to secure favorable immigration rights for themselves – see the Cremieux Decree, the Lautenberg Amendment, etc., etc.

I fail to see how the current situation isn’t relevant. We didn’t have any better information regarding the dangers to Germany’s Jews back in 1939 than we have on today’s refugees, and Israel has as much moral obligation as Europe to take them in.

* Aren’t the governments’ hasbara/agitprop efforts similar to what the corporation do to “maintain presence online”? I.e. essentially opening a website and asking people to “like us on Facebook” or “follow us on Twitter”? I think the same “social media director” types would be in charge of both efforts.

* Far more useful to control the media outlet itself than a few comments underneath. However clearly the presence of a few dissenting opinions seems to terrify the media gatekeepers.

* To tie this theme with the Bruce Jenner story: the Russian Wikipedia article on Bruce Jenner uses male pronouns and other grammatical forms (conjugation of verbs, declination of nouns and adjectives) throughout, and refers to him as “Bruce”. The Hebrew page has changed its name to “Caitlin”, but within the article all pronouns and other grammar are masculine forms. (In both Russian and Hebrew, it’s impossible to go on for more than a few words without implying something about gender. All past tense verb forms have a gender, just for starters.)

* Israel spends money on Hasbara not because blog comments change a lot of minds but because all the real mind-shaping instruments – big Western media companies – are already pro-Israel. Blog presence is mopping up after the big battle.

I’m sure that an oligarch connected to the Kremlin would not be able to buy a big Western media company for any price. Western elites only pretend to be capitalist. Ideology always trumps profit with them. So Russia isn’t really a participant in the big media battles in the West. I don’t think my cable company even carries RT. Is Russia a participant in the nearly-irrelevant blog comment skirmishes?

* A thriving volunteer thought police doesn’t preclude the existence of a paid thought police. Online trolling is part of modern psy-ops. I see no reason some government agency does not engage in hasbara.

* Eh, I’d post pro-Putin comments for money. How do I apply?

* Where is all this supposed pro-Putin troll propaganda at? I don’t see any. Most commenters who defend his actions are doing so in response to the tidal wave of absurd anti-Putin propaganda that’s been inundating the public and the defenses have been somewhat tepid and measured. There’s little need for Russian propaganda to undercut the American homestead when all these lefty-liberal sites run by our own citizens are doing such a good job along with media and government elites who are busy engineering demographic disaster. Same with Netanyahu, most defenders seem to be pro-Zionists who are quick to jump on any criticism anywhere and are voluntary. The actual paid professional trolls employed by the various governments pale in comparison to the high ground held by the mainstream media who create a cultural environment of Jenner & Kardashian 24/7 along with spreading fear and moral panics along with jingoism.

* One ray of hope for me is that the Kremlin has backed Marine Le Pen in France rhetorically. I wouldn’t even be surprised if they’re backing her financially. The Kremlin sees itself hammered by Western governments, so when it notices someone in a Western country putting up a serious challenge to the local government, it backs the challenger. I wish they were more ideologically consistent than that. Like you, I wish they understood the West better.

If someone similar to Pat Buchanan mounted a serious campaign for the White House today, winning the New Hampshire primary as Pat once did, the Kremlin would have noticed him and backed him. The neocons bankroll the anti-Kremlin forces in Russia, so it would just be a matter of reflex for Putin to do the same here.

Report: Brooklyn, NY – Black School Bus Driver Sues Borough Park Satmar School Over Slurs, Owed Back Pay

I cannot believe this. Not the Satmar I know.

Chaim Amalek writes: Nebech, when Moshiach comes the shvartzes will get down on their knees and BEG us to hire them to drive the kinder to Yeshiva with only a smile from the Rebbe in payment. Only we won’t bother with them. We’ll have Mexicans.

Luke, why don’t you have any “Monkey Friends?”

And what’s wrong with a yeshiva bachur calling an Black Man “Blackie?” Did Whitey Bulger whine when people started calling him “Whitey?”

Do Whites Have Legitimate Group Interests?

North Carolina’s second largest newspaper publishes this letter to the editor:

“We believe that all people in all communities deserve to have their human dignity respected and valued,” wrote UNC-Chapel Hill professor Hong-An-Truong and Duke professor Nayoung Aimee Kwon in the May 24 letter “A dangerous myth.”

One wonders whether “all people” includes white people given the professors’ impassioned moral indictment (“structural racism,” “white supremacy”) of this majority-white nation – which is a magnet for nonwhites the world over.

The letter signed by 26 Asian-American faculty and students illustrated the skewed multiculturalism of majority-white nations. This asymmetrical multiculturalism favors the group interests of minorities over the group interests of the white majority, the founding group. It encourages minorities to organize to pursue racial/ethnocentric agendas. Typical examples: Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus, Congressional Black Caucus, Congressional Hispanic Caucus, among myriad ethnocentric minority organizations.

Meanwhile, the establishment – political, academic, media, religious – suppresses any expression of the group interests of the majority. This is a glaring double standard. It has a profound negative effect on the majority.

A solution is true, democratic multi-culturalism that recognizes that every racial/ethnic group, including the white majority, has legitimate group interests.

NBC: Google Preaches Diversity But Hiring Numbers Still Lag

Shocking!

NBC reports: Google’s workforce is still dominated by white and Asian men even after the Internet company hired a woman to fill one out of every five of its openings for technology jobs last year. The ongoing lack of diversity emerged in a demographic breakdown that Google released Monday. Just 18 percent of Google’s technology jobs were held by women entering 2015, up a mere percentage point from the previous year. The rest of them were filled by men who were mostly white or Asian.

… black and Hispanic employees… made up for only 2 percent and 3 percent of total workforce

Don’t show what you don’t want others to look at

Ladies, it does not seem complicated to me. Don’t show off your body if you don’t want guys staring. I often see professional women wearing ridiculously short skirts and then tugging them down all our therapy session. Don’t wear clothing that sexualizes you if you don’t want that attention. Don’t act and speak in ways that sexualize you if you don’t want that attention.

WP: It’s safe to say that Science Magazine’s career-advice column doesn’t usually scorch up the Internet.

But a well-known molecular biologist and senior faculty member at Caltech touched a raw nerve when a young researcher asked for advice about handling her adviser’s repeated attempts, whenever they met in his office, to peer down her shirt.

“As long as your adviser does not move on to other advances, I suggest you put up with it, with good humor if you can,” wrote Alice Huang, a regular columnist for Science, whose profile says she has always advocated for women in the field.
