* Universities and open borders crowd argue that mass immigration is supposed to deliver an economic boon and reduce crime. But we often see the opposite. The open borders types don’t even believe they are telling the truth, they know they are being dishonest, they are just so committed to arguing and winning that the ends justify the means.

The immigrant banlieues in France are very high crime, poverty stricken, social service sponges. They were supposed to reduce crime and provide economic benefit and seem to do the exact opposite. Will the open borders crowd admit that this isn’t working.

US is supposed to be the success story of multi-racial integration, but it really doesn’t feel that way.

* It takes a lot of work to shift the zietgeist. The guys causing the problems love it when you can try something without the modern social mob at your back. You are isolated, ridiculed, and squashed like a grape. Obviously just another crazy fool. Nothing to see here.

An import part of the solution is to actually prove your case. To illustrate your point. To show, not tell. And not just once, but every time. Every time you hear some PC BS, call them on it. Show the whole story. Every time you see something idiotic, point it out. Dwell on it. Rub everyone’s collective faces in it. When they attempt to shout you down, just keep on doing it. Don’t even bother addressing them. Address the rest of the world. Every time one of their thought-leaders makes happy-happy silly-silly, remind everyone that there’s more to the world than the sound bite. Tell the back story. Yeah, a lot won’t get it. But some will. And all this build up over time. Especially today, when everything lives forever on computers.

Slow, steady, smooth. A lot of lies have to be killed first.

* Sailer is wildly entertaining, he’s anything but boring, he’s extremely insightful, he has built a devoted following, but he’s just a fringe writer. He doesn’t have any influence beyond that.

Your action ideas are agitate for policy.

My favorite action ideas:

– Humor and entertainment. No one listens to angry miserable people no matter how strong their logical arguments are. People listen to those that entertain.

– Genetics. Develop better understanding of human genetics and what traits/genes we want and which we don’t. We often think that politicians change the world, but often major structural social changes come from technology. Better human genetics understanding would help this crowd’s goals.

* I think you underestimate the hold that politically correct thinking and the religion of diversity has on the West. Many of the opinions expressed on iSteve are Orwellian Thoughtcrimes against the prevailing approved beliefs in the infinite malleability of all peoples, the notion that freedom requires absolute uniformity and the jest that nothing really important happened prior to today.

Steve and others provide a space where ideas that are considered perfectly reasonable in most of the world but are often considered literally unthinkable in the West can be raised. Liberalism’s quasi-religious death-grip (cf. James Burnham) cannot be shaken off until more people realize that its shibboleths are chimera. The first thing step towards release is to realize that liberal rule is neither inevitable nor normative.

* Before the events of this summer there were less than 1/10 as many Arabs in Germany compared to Turks. Yet in criminal gangs, street crime etc. there are more Arabs than Turks. Also the Hip Hop culture is dominated by Arabs, which shows that Arabs are seen as the toughest. Arabs are clearly the most problematic group in Germany. Now that Arabs rise from a tiny minority to a substantial fraction of the population funny times are coming

* Immigrants are doing the white collar crimes that Americans are simply too lazy to do anymore. Even the Black guy on that list has a Nigerian or other West African sounding name and not a homegrown African American name like Jamal Andre Jackson.

* Russians have been slandered a long time by New York media especially. New York media are quick to point out the knavery of Russian immigrants when indicted for crime but stop short of noting that most Russian criminals are in fact Jewish.

* Violent criminals or white collar criminals? Because there is no way most violent Russian thugs are Jewish. Jews are not responsible for why Russia has the highest per capita murder rate in all of Europe. Russian Gentiles as a group have always been a very violent people. Also bat shit crazy Chechen Muslims help drive up the murder rate in Russia.

If Jews were the main ones responsible for violent street crimes in Russia, than Israel would have a similar per capita murder as Russia but they don’t. The per capita murder rate in Israel is way closer to Western European levels than they are to Slavic Russian levels.

Russian Gentiles are not as law abiding as Vermont and North Dakota Whites for example, that’s just a fact.

Counterpoint: U.S. is wrong place for Europe’s refugees

Roy Beck writes: The United States should not be resettling what would be only a tiny fraction of the current flow of refugees and migrants from the other side of the world. Instead, we should join other nations in providing for the greatest comfort to the greatest number of people fleeing their destabilized countries. By long experience, the United Nations has primarily recommended safe, internationally supervised camps in adjoining countries, or at least the same region, so refugees can eventually more easily move back home.

Offers of resettlement on other continents might at first seem the humanitarian response. But that can easily cause far more suffering, both to migrants themselves and to receiving communities which risk their own destabilization. The United States certainly should not add to the enticements for people to risk their lives and those of their children through dangerous travel to obtain what only a few can be offered.

Here at home, nearly 500,000 refugees have been placed into local American communities through federal resettlement programs since 2009. We have been taking about 70 percent of all the refugees resettled by the United Nations each year. There has been little to assure us that these programs are capable of screening out present and future criminals and terrorists who often exploit the chaos of emergency migrations. And the programs show little regard for the multiple long-term fiscal costs imposed on the local receiving communities that already are suffering from the same depressed wages and low labor force participation rates as the rest of the United States.

Rather than taking in a new wave of refugees, our government should be considering enacting the Resettlement Accountability National Security Act (H.R. 3314) introduced by U.S. Rep. Brian Babin (R-Texas). It would place an immediate suspension on the resettlement programs until the Government Accountability Office completes a thorough examination of the full costs on local, state and federal governments. And as Babin said introducing the bill last month, the suspension “gives an opportunity to examine potential national security issues related to entry and resettlement, particularly as federal law enforcement officials are increasingly concerned about home-grown terrorists.”

Mass Legal Immigration Will Finish Conservatism

Mark Krikorian writes: Conservative luminaries have been warning that Donald Trump poses a threat to the Republican party and to the political future of conservativism. Charles Krauthammer has called him “political poison.” Fred Barnes says Trump has “made the GOP’s future dicey.” George Will thunders characteristically that “every sulfurous belch from the molten interior of the volcanic Trump phenomenon injures the chances of a Republican presidency.”

All this may be true. Trump is indeed a braggart who goes out of his way to antagonize people — not a winning approach in electoral politics. And he’s shown little real commitment to conservative principles — or principles of any other kind, for that matter.

But Trump is not the long-term problem faced by the Right. Ramesh Ponnuru’s assurance regarding Trump that “this too shall pass” may be underestimating Trump’s staying power, but at some point he will pass.

But if mass legal immigration is permitted to continue, the Right is finished regardless of what Trump does or says.

If the federal immigration program continues to operate at its current pace — about 1 million green cards issued per year — it will create nearly 15 million potential new voters over the next two decades, disproportionately liberal, as I will explain below. If Senator Rubio and the rest of the Republican establishment had gotten its way and the House had passed Chuck Schumer’s bill, the number of these potential new voters minted by mass immigration by 2036 would have been more than double that, over 32 million.

What are the likely political leanings of these millions of voters imported by Congress and the president? Conservative immigration romantics imagine them to be natural Republicans, having a right-winger inside just waiting to burst out, if only they’re welcomed with open arms.

Unfortunately, a mountain of survey research gives us no reason to believe that to be the case. Put simply, immigrants and their adult children are disproportionately big-government liberals who vote heavily Democrat because that party’s policies accord with their own views and interests.

This conclusion isn’t based on tendentious survey questions or a one-off poll that doesn’t reflect true views. Rather, survey after survey after survey after survey hammers the point home: Immigration increases the electoral power of the Left.

Immigrants are disproportionately big-government liberals who vote heavily Democrat because that party’s policies accord with their own views and interests.

Let’s look at just a sprinkling of the findings (examine them in more detail in a comprehensive review of immigrant policy preferences published by Eagle Forum). The 2008 National Annenberg Election Survey found that 62 percent of immigrants supported government health insurance, as opposed to 45 percent of the native-born. The 2010 Cooperative Congressional Election Study found 58 percent of immigrants supported affirmative action, versus 35 percent of natives.

The Pew Research Center found in 2011 that Hispanics (mainly immigrants or the children of immigrants) had the most negative view of capitalism of any group polled — more negative even than self-identified supporters of Occupy Wall Street.

Pew also found that 75 percent of Hispanics preferred a larger government providing more services to a small one providing fewer; the figure for the public at large was just 41 percent. It’s true that support for bigger government is lower among the adult grandchildren of Hispanic immigrants, at “only” 58 percent. But not only is even this figure disturbingly high, it’s not clear that it tells us anything about the grandchildren of today’s immigrants — their grandparents arrived at least half a century ago in a very different America.

NYT: As a Boom Fades, Brazilians Wonder How It All Went Wrong

New York Times: “Highlighting the strain, Standard & Poor’s downgraded Brazil’s credit rating to junk status on Wednesday, igniting a broad sell-off of Brazilian financial assets on Thursday. The blow is expected to increase Brazil’s borrowing costs while focusing even more scrutiny on the government’s inability to rein in public spending.”

The average IQ in Brazil is 87, just two points above American blacks, so of course it is going to be a basketcase.

“The difference between us and other international organizations is that we’ve been working in Jordan with Syrian refugees and in Iraq and Kurdistan. We understand their mentality, which is an advantage we bring to the table,” said Zahavi.

And it is this Middle Eastern mentality that is worrisome to Jek of the Central Board of Jewish Welfare in Germany.

“They are people who are taught from birth that Jews are apes or pigs. They need a civil program to teach multiculturalism. And this is a point the German government doesn’t even think of,” said Jek.

Sept 10, 2015, New York, NY – The Union for Reform Judaism (URJ) is urging both international leaders and North American constituents to respond with strength and commitment to the growing and urgent crisis of refugees from Syria and elsewhere in the region.

Earlier today URJ President Rabbi Rick Jacobs sent a letter to President Obama and leaders of the Senate and House urging swift and meaningful action to address the refugee crisis unfolding in the Middle East and Europe. “Our great nation must respond immediately by providing safety, food, shelter, refuge, and dignity. How can a nation built by refugees from political persecution turn our back on refugees fleeing religious and political persecution? It cannot,” said Rabbi Jacobs in the letter.

In the face of the most pressing refugee crisis since World War II, the Reform Movement is calling on Congress and the Administration to act now, appealing on behalf of the millions of refugees worldwide, including more than 11 million Syrian and Middle Eastern refugees who have been forced to flee their homes because of ongoing violence.

“We are heartened by President Obama’s announcement this afternoon that the United States would accept at least 10,000 refugees in the next fiscal year,” said Rabbi Jacobs. “We stand ready to work with the White House as we hope Congress will be as well to meet this urgent challenge.”

“Every human being must ask him or herself what more can be done to help those in desperate need,” said Rabbi Jacobs. “Every human being, including and perhaps especially those who hold public office and make decisions about our nation’s priorities and actions, must act with courage and compassion. I pray that we will rise to meet this challenge, and will all be found to have lived up to our responsibility to care for the poor, the needy, and the stranger among us.”

KAY S. HYMOWITZ: Did Mass Incarceration Destroy the Black Family?

However, if the War on Drugs played any role in shaping the contemporary black family, it’s almost impossible to decipher from the data. Despite Nixon’s early 1970s call to arms, the War on Drugs didn’t lead to many casualties until well into the next decade. As of 1979, only 5.7 percent of U.S. prisoners were incarcerated for drug offenses. Yet as we’ve just seen, by that time, nearly half of black births were already to single mothers. The number of men imprisoned for drug crimes rose only modestly until 1990, four years after Congress passed the Anti-Drug Abuse Act, legislating harsher sentences for crack cocaine, a move often cited as a cause of the disproportionately black prison population. Far from leading to more fatherless children, the growing number of black men imprisoned for drugs coincided with a flattening out of the percentage of black single mothers, after a 30-plus-year upward climb.

In fact, whatever its evils, the War on Drugs doesn’t take us far in explaining prison racial disparities. That’s not the impression you’ll get from the punditry class. “More than half of federal prisoners are incarcerated for drug crimes in 2010,” goes a typical formulation, from the Huffington Post. It’s true, as far as it goes—but “federal prisoners” make up only about 14 percent of all incarcerated men. In the far larger state system, the majority of black men are doing time for violent crimes. Between the federal and state system, almost two and a half times the number of black men are serving sentences for murder, assault, and the like than they are for using and selling drugs. Today, violent criminals continue to make up by far the largest cohort of the freshman class of prisoners—black, white, and Hispanic.

The preponderance of violent prisoners muddies another plank of the missing-men theory: that mass incarceration of black adults has harmed black children. Researchers have made a compelling case that when fathers go to prison, their absence takes a toll on their kids. Boys, especially, have more behavioral problems, including aggressive acting out and lower educational achievement. But the lessons of those findings are far from clear. You can construct a reasonable argument that the children of men sentenced for drug offenses—and the communities they live in—would be better off if fewer fathers were behind bars. When it comes to men prone to violence, though, that supposition is ambiguous, at best.

The difficult truth avoided by most missing-men adherents is that men doing prison time are part of a larger population that doesn’t provide much in the way of paternal care, even if they never were locked up. According to research from the Fragile Families project, the vast majority of poor black fathers are unmarried, though it’s also the case that those in jail are the least likely to be married. That same population is less likely to be living with their children and their children’s mother than unmarried white or Hispanic fathers, a fact that lessens their sons’ and daughters’ chances in life. It’s true that black nonresidential fathers have been found to be more involved with their kids in the early years than comparable white and Hispanic dads. But that only lasts until the kids are nine or so; after that, poor black fathers are actually more likely to have exited their children’s lives than other men—another blow to children’s well-being. Part of the reason for this is “multi-partner fertility”—social-science-speak for having children by more than one partner. Multi-partner fertility, with the complex families it creates, is extremely common in poor black neighborhoods. (Again, it’s twice as prevalent among incarcerated men.) Serial parental relationships, breakups, disappearances, a line of step-siblings and parents: they’re all part of what sociologists Laura Tach and Kathryn Edin call the “family-go-round.” These traits are linked to the same behavioral problems experienced by boys whose fathers have been jailed.

Who Are The Leading Black Intellectuals?

* Who, among black intellectuals, would still qualify as an intellectual if he were white? McWhorter is the only one I can think of, although I’m not the most well-informed so there may be others.

It seems like there used to be many more pre-1960s. Do highly intelligent blacks get roped into non-”intellectual” fields like engineering, or is it simply that they lack the opportunity to hone their reasoning skills because it’s racist to argue with them?

* The right is finding that parody is the ultimate antidote.

Logic is pointless. It’s better to say how you moved your family from the violent Whitebread suburbs to the obviously safe vibrancy of the inner city.

* I’m going to predict a theme about blacks needing to soar, about proud, vast spirits, constantly being wounded by petty and often meaningless ‘norms’ of white society, leading to frustration, anger and noncompliance (what everyone one else in our society calls ‘criminality’). The answer, of course, is for the rest of society to tolerate even more black social pathology. I can also see educated and successful black people reading Coates’, reflecting on some of their own neighbors and relatives and saying to themselves, ‘Oh, hell no.’

One way to broach the uncomfortable subject of black criminality is to start by talking about how, even if you control for demographics, America is more violent than Europe. (Wilson would do this all the time.) And if you present the statistics in a certain way American whites do look remarkably violent. But it’s easy to convey that impression because the violent crime rate (especially the homicide rate) is so low in so many European countries. “The homicide rate of American whites is more than 3x greater than the Swiss rate!” Well, yes, but the Swiss rate is a virtually nonexistent 0.7 per 100k… In reality, white America might as well be Finland in regards to violent crime.

Steve, do you consider it a feature or a bug that your posts, articles, and insights are evergreen, because they axiomatically cannot get absorbed by the MSM? You get to recycle a lot of material, but it must get exasperatingly tedious.

* We may be past the peak of post-Civil Rights black achievement. Think of corporate America, for example, which used to include prominent black CEOs such as Don Thompson (McDonald’s), Stan O’Neal (Merrill Lynch), Dick Parsons (Citigroup, Time Warner), and Ken Chenault (American Express). Of those, only Ken Chenault is still CEO of a major company (American Express). Dick Parsons is the interim chief exec of the LA Clippers, and who knows what the others are up to now.

Thinking of politics, who’s left to follow in Obama’s footsteps? Corey Booker? There doesn’t seem to be a deep bench of black pols with crossover appeal.

* Whether or not one thinks of Coates as especially intelligent, the fact remains is that he has found his professional niche and as long as he gets paid and has slobbering adulation from the elites, its not in his interest to explore new ground or to consider other points of view. He’s found a good pasture (or hustle) and is going to keep grazing there as long as he can.

* A genuine black ‘intellectual’ would know that its all over. The Civil Rights Era has come and gone. That the past 50 years was the ‘Golden Age’ of the American negro and demographic change and economic decline will return the negro to his rightful place in American society and there is nothing to be done about it. This country is no longer rich enough to subsidize 40 million blacks with middle class lifestyles and a shrinking percentage of the population has any historical connection to black historical grievances.

The engine of black prosperity has been government spending and that engine is broken. At the local, state and federal level pension obligations and healthcare costs are going to eat away at a thousand line items in agency budgets that were the bread and butter of the negro middle class. LA is laying the ground work for a city where people walk, bicycle or take a bus to get where they are going. Its being sold as ‘people friendly’ but what it really means is LA is sliding back into the Third World. Daddy didn’t take the T-Bird away, daddy can’t afford a T-Bird for himself much less his kids! Chicago’s school district is on the verge of collapse. It has a budget hole of $500 million and there is no more money to be had anywhere. When the economy is growing ( if you believe) at two percent and state and local governments have to pay more than that to borrow money… its over! The United States is growing poorer and, what is worse, the Latino population is going to be demanding their fair share of the remaining black sinecures and the rules blacks made to carve these niches out for themselves will be ruthlessly applied to cull them from them.

* My experience of black people is in comparison with the lower end of the white demographic so in terms of being impulsively violent, criminally-minded meatheads (between mid-teens to mid-twenties) the gap wasn’t as big as other people have experienced.

The two big differences were

1) much lower monogamy – and this matters as a lot of random violence revolves around that

2) low but much higher frequency of “killers” i.e. people who are inclined to settle disputes with a lethal weapon i.e. white maybe 1-2%, black 4-8% – something like that – still a small percentage of the total population but critical in terms of how things play out on the ground.

I expect this is genetic (MAOA?) and could be figured out but unfortunately no-one will try.

* There’s a definite link between testosterone and criminality. The other factor is IQ. A third factor would be what I’d call impulse control. Most criminals are low-IQ, high-testosterone, and impulsive.

* On any given year the number of homicide victims in the U.S regardless of race who are murdered by a Black male perpetrator is significantly higher than the number of people who died on 9/11.

Americans regardless of race statistically have a higher chance of being murdered by a Black man on any given year than they do of being a victim of a terrorist attack.

* Albanians are Muslims and the BBC does not want to portray Muslim men as being ruthless pimps who treat prostitutes like second class citizens. Armenians are Christians so it okay to portray them in a negative light.

I bet Hollywood would feel extremely uncomfortable disproportionately portraying my people the Italians as being criminals at a much higher rate than we actually are in real life, if we were a Muslim ethnic group and not a Catholic ethnic group, there would probably be no mafia films about Italians.
