Let Putin Have His Way In Syria

Steve Chapman writes: Vladimir Putin is having a field day in the Middle East. He has sent Russian planes to bomb rebels in Syria. He has reached an intelligence-sharing agreement with Syria, Iran and Iraq. At the U.N. Monday, he reaffirmed his commitment to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. He seems determined to fill the regional vacuum allegedly left by the United States.

What should the Obama administration do? Let him.

Republicans regard this as a calamity. But what’s the downside? There are two main ways this gambit could go. And neither would be a bad deal for us.

The first possibility is that he will inflict significant damage on Islamic State. In that case, one of our most vicious enemies would be weakened — at little cost or risk to Americans. The only thing better than defeating Islamic State is getting someone to do it for us.

In that scenario, of course, another enemy, Assad, would survive. But someone named Assad has held power in Syria since 1970. We managed fine before this civil war. If Putin can bring it to an end with the Assad government still in power, we’ll manage fine afterward.

The second possibility is that Putin will fail: His bombing raids will prove unavailing, the insurgents will gain ground, and the regime will be in jeopardy. Then he may be forced to send ground troops.

He could find himself in a costly, bloody war. Or he might decide the prize is not worth the effort and pull back, which would dash his dreams of regional power and discredit him at home. Either way, he’s worse off, and we’re not.

Why should we stand in his way? It’s not as though we have a better plan. President Barack Obama has largely stayed out of the Syrian war because 1) there are no “moderate” rebel factions with a plausible chance of prevailing, 2) he’s never been willing to take the risks of intervening in a way that would matter, and 3) the outcome could be awful even if we somehow got our way.

Critics regard Syria as a colossal tragedy that Obama could have prevented. More likely, it’s a colossal tragedy that he could not have prevented. Removing a hostile regime by force, as we learned in Iraq and Afghanistan, is not a ticket to tranquility. Syria is a disaster. But it’s a disaster that has claimed no U.S. soldiers and very little U.S. money.

Socially And Sexually Atomized Atheist Killers and Absent Fathers

From the Chateau: The developing story of Oregon UCC mass murderer Chris Harper-Mercer (mystery meat, half black-half white) has me thinking about the psychologies of mixed race young men and the invisible influence of their absent fathers.

In Mercer’s case, an interesting twist on the usual miscegenation patterns: his absentee father was white and his mother black. Mercer was allegedly an atheist who hated Christians, and had (Hivemind term) “white supremacist” leanings. He also had a huge stash of porn that he streamed to P2P sharing services, which is a major omega male incel tell.

Why would a milk chocolate moonpie identify with White racial consciousness? My theory calls to mind another moonpie with daddy issues: President Butt Naked Obama.

Both men had no-show biological dads growing up, except Butt Naked’s dad was black. The psychology of men during their formative years is irretrievably warped by the absence of a father. This tendency is amplified for mixed race outcasts who will never have it as easy fitting in as monoracial kids, (another good reason to avoid having mystery meats). What happens then is the boy grows into a man who struggles with his identity. This struggle compels him to either completely reject the father as a presence in his mental and emotional universe…

…to embrace the missing father and “force” an identification with him. The son will undertake preternatural “missions of the mind” to locate within himself what he imagines are the resonances and reverberations of his absent father’s spirit. He will spend his life constantly searching for the soul of his missing father, in big and small ways, even as he tells himself and others that his absent biological father is a footnote in his life.

If his absentee father was black, like Obama’s, the mixed race creation will come to identify with all things black, in worldview and emotional connection, if not in cultural accouterments. His white mother will recede in significance to him. If his father was white, like Mercer’s, he will seek the most material manifestations of “whiteness” as his guide to grounding himself into something larger than his airy atheism and brooding “anti-sheeple” solitude. He hopes, through a psychological osmosis, that carrying what he infers would be the banner of his distant father will lift him from his mixcel loneliness.

Comments:

* These shootings will continue to happen in a random fashion and each time the following predictions about the killer will ring true with astounding accuracy:

– Sexual market worthlessness
– Absent father
– Mental illness and a history of psychiatric medication

Call it the Unholy Trinity.

* Jordan and Kobe had their father’s in their lives; Lebron didn’t. (Hell, I think at one point, a teammater was porking his mother!) It was always brought up that Lebron never had the killer instinct that both Jordan and Kobe had/have; although Jordan was always out for blood.

(I bring up these three guys cause Kobe was compared to Jordan and Lebron was then compared to Jordan as well.)

Lebron never had that guidance or that toughness imparted on him through his father. More than likely it was via older friends, acquintances; in short, the street’s his father, so when the heat’s on, he collapses. It was apparent in his playoff time with Cleveland, before heading to Miami.

Winners always want the ball in their hands; in those later games, the 2010 series versus the Celtics, he withered away, giving the ball up. He wants a title, so he piggy back’s on Wade in Miami; where Wade was the alpha dog/father figure Lebron never had.

He spends four years there, gets two rings and has “graduated” but he’s still just a kid. This all surfaced when I heard him “complaining” that in the Finals they lost two all-stars and it’s hard to replace, yadda yadda yadda.

* I noticed early on that Lebron was very well-spoken [almost erudite] but also overwhelmingly effeminate. BTW, in the real world, you’re seeing what happens when a very well-spoken [and secretly hyper-effeminate] mulatto, Barry Soebarkah Dunham, crosses paths with a true Alpha forged-by-fire warrior like Vladimir Putin, without Eskimo David Axelrod’s teleprompter script to hid behind anymore: Li’l effeminate on-the-down-low colored boy scurries back home to Mama Jarrett with his tail between his legs.

* BB, you’re dealing with Eskimo Psychiatry here – they’re going to throw every possible lie [and multiple contradictory lies] at this mess until they find a lie [or a group of lies] which can create a Narrative which will make this story disappear. And if they can’t make the story disappear, then they will embrace the poor colored boy and GLORIFY him for murdering the Eskimo’s most hated enemy of all: White Christians. Eskimos are psychopaths – they aren’t burdened by a White conscience or by White fealty to Truth.

* Irreligiousness – okay, let’s talk about that. Blacks are the most religious racial group in the U.S., as they are the group with the lowest IQ. Court staff note how the defendants’ mommas pray in the hallways that their sons be acquitted. “That’s not real religion!” you might say. That’s not YOUR religious habit, but religion nonetheless.

Sorry, religion pushers, wouldn’t bring up the facts unless you tried to make something out of this particular Negro’s reported atheism, as expected. If you take a moment to think about it, you will realize that more religious groups like Mestizos, Blacks and Arabs are still more criminal than the less religious group, Whites. In fact, the more religious Albanian and Yugoslav Whites are more criminal than the less religious Western Whites. I recommend you find a different angle than crime propensity.

I noticed that too – as though a beta-male is troubled because he ‘suffers’ from a lack of a woman in his life. If only he’d a had a woman he’d be ok…

I’ve had plenty of women in my life, too many actually. Having a woman or women giving you sex is great – until it’s not. And then it usually comes with an entirely new set of problems, risks and threats. Like constant shit tests to see how you react to insecurity or threats. Constant crisis created to keep you assisting her and saving her from whatever. Attention whoring, monopolizing your time, money and life.

Besides that, in this femcentric culture where the federal gov’t encourages your woman to ditch you and take your shit – the average beta-male is likely to face false charges [sexual and/or violent] and spend his time and money probing his innocence or settling out of court paying the bitch to go away. Jail time. Police records. Divorce rape, child support for 18+ years, female domestic violence and – well – “the juice aint worth the squeeze” anymore. But our simplistic and solipcistic announcer can’t seem to image a world where a woman isn’t the cure for the angry beta male.

REPORT: “Neighbors said Harper-Mercer was a visibly ‘anxious’ and friendless loner who lived with his mother and surfed dating sites looking for love.”

It looks like we may have another case of a beta, possibly omega, male with woman troubles expunging his feelings of worthlessness through the barrel of a gun. Could game have saved the lives of those theater-goers Holmes killed?

James Holmes struck out with three women on an adult sex website shortly before he allegedly perpetrated the Colorado movie massacre, according to a new report.
He described Holmes as “a shy, pretty socially inept person,” and said he tried at one point to introduce Holmes around the institute, taking him to another floor where a high school girl was working.
“He just had no interest,” Jacobson recalled. “I attributed all this to adolescent shyness, maybe feeling intimidated [by] people around him.” […]
On Monday, it was also learned that Holmes was turned down by three women on the casual sex website Adult Friend Finder shortly before he allegedly perpetrated the Colorado movie massacre.
The grad school dropout opened an account on the no-strings-attached sex site on July 5, and quickly reached out to three lusty ladies — but all said, “No thanks” to a hookup, the unidentified women told TMZ.com.
One of the horny honeys told TMZ that Holmes was rather innocent in his approach, claiming he was “just looking to maybe chat . . . nothing sexual.”

If you don’t have much experience approaching women and talking to them, getting shot down one after another by three sluts looking for casual sex is a grievous blow to the ego. Had Holmes had some game and approaches under his belt, he would not have been as fazed by these rejections, (nor would he have been as impelled to use a casual sex website to fulfill his sex and love needs).

In addition, this skank’s recollection implies that Holmes is the classic niceguy, unable to flirt with or entice women except through the niceguy method of chatting innocently about nothing and hoping to elicit a pity fuck through the LJBF back door.

Using the screen name “classicjimbo,” Holmes said he was straight and looking for “casual sex,” either one-on-one or with a group of three or more.

I figured maybe there was a chance this guy might be gay, which would help explain his indifference to women he worked around. But his admission here dispels that possibility (unless he’s lying out of a psychological need).

“Will you visit me in prison?” read a haunting line at the top of his profile page.

This is about the closest Holmes came to using effective game.

His account, which has been taken down in the wake of the horrific attack, lists Holmes as single, athletic and a light drinker. He described his “male endowment” as “short/average.”

An underemployed, undersexed, socially awkward niceguy beta male with incipient schizophrenia and a small ween is a carnage waiting to happen. Again, had Holmes some knowledge of game and success using it on women in the past, would he have ever bothered arming himself to the teeth and committing himself to his bloodlust? I don’t think this question is unreasonable to ask.

“Am a nice guy. Well, as nice enough of a guy who does these sort of shenanigans,” read his [profile] introduction.

Here, Holmes admits that he is a niceguy. Do niceguys generally own up to their niceguyness? I’ve observed that many of them do. They seem to hold their niceguy status as simultaneously both a moral virtue and an unlucky burden to bear. Narcissist niceguys like Holmes love the feeling of martyrdom because it erects in their minds a triumph over their self-inflicted failures.

“After the TMZ incident, I am hesitant to continue using this site. Never know who’s on the other end,” a 30-year-old from Steamboat Springs, Colo., who goes by the screen name “fancydarling,” posted at the top of her profile Monday.

These low class broads who use casual hook-up sites like Adult Friend Finder are test cases of hamsters on overdrive. Really, lady, you log onto a site practically dedicated to anonymous sex and you’re shocked to find out the men you meet aren’t model citizens nor interested in friendly chatting about throw rug patterns? Of course you’re not shocked. You’re just a woman being womanish.

Classmates who knew Holmes at Westview High told The News they had no recollection of the accused killer ever having a girlfriend.

In an increasingly r-selected society like the one America is turning into, beta males without game are going to be left in the dust. Some of them with pre-existing mental disorders may go over the edge.

On Monday, his high school buddies were shocked that the clean-cut brainiac had morphed into the wild-eyed, mop-haired man they now saw.

Does anyone ever see it coming? Serious question. I’ve yet to read an account of some mass killer that someone who knew him predicted would crack one day. That’s the thing with unassuming niceguy beta males: they’re generally invisible to people around them until they snap and go out in a blaze of lookatme! I don’t know there is any way to protect against this happening again, except to issue PSAs that educate the public on the signs to note of someone beginning the descent into homicidal madness. Or maybe make game a required course in all high schools, so that socially invisible beta and omega males get some basic dating experience under their belts before their fuses are lit.

“He looked so dazed. Then it was like his eyes were going to pop out of his head. I never saw that look from him before. This is not the kid I knew playing soccer back in high school,” Brandon Wanda, 23, told The News.

Doctors probably drugged him.

Holmes has shown all the signs of a guy who had a paranoid schizophrenic breakdown. The sudden change in appearance and behavior, and the indiscriminate nature of the attack suggest he has a real mental illness, and advocates for the mentally ill ought to stop shielding the public from the knowledge that crazies can sometimes turn out to be excessively violent beasts. But his mental illness may not be the whole story; if his condition reinforced his failure with women, the two personal insults could have operated symbiotically to drive him to the breaking point. Holmes may have been destined to go nuts, but it’s possible he could have been saved from violent schism by an intervention that helped him navigate social interactions with women; in other words, helped him not be himself. Could game have been the answer? Feminists shriek indignantly, but it’s not such an outlandish thought.

…Many supposed “red pillers” and even some field-tested PUAs refuse to believe that chicks dig the worst sorts of jerks. But the evidence that they do is everywhere. Not all chicks dig mass murderers (NACDMM), of course, but many more are aroused by killers than would be presumed if the addiction was a rare, exotic psychological disorder. And that quite often these death row groupies are attractive, psychologically normal women who simply reside on the far right of an asshole-loving bell curve. You know, the kinds of good-looking thin women most law-abiding beta males would wife up in an instant and ask questions later.

Our society condemns all sorts of male weirdos for their sexual predilections, why can’t we equally condemn these female killer groupies for their sexual predilection? Or is it only men’s sexual preferences that qualify for opprobrium by the feminist industrial simplex? Rhetorical.

PS You don’t have to be a mass murderer to win the love of cute girls, but the sexual attention that killers like the not-handsome Holmes receive from scores of women should clue you in that integrating a little of that jerkboy charisma into your personality will richly reward you in the dating market.

Readin’, Ritin’, ’Rithmetic — After Waves of Immigration, Millions of Americans Lack Basic Skills

Reihan Salam writes for National Review: How have decades of immigration transformed America? Shedding light on this, the Pew Research Center has released a fascinating new report, which finds that the current foreign-born share of the U.S. population (13.9 percent) is very close to the peak of 14.8 percent that it reached in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Assuming current levels of immigration continue, the foreign-born share will reach 17.7 percent in 2065. But this number understates the impact of immigration on the U.S. population, as it does not capture the role played by the children and grandchildren of immigrants. Pew estimates that when we factor in the second- and third-generation offspring of immigrants, the post-1965 immigration wave has added 72 million people to the U.S. population. To put this number in perspective, France has a total population of 67 million, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo has a population of 77 million. Suffice it to say, this post-1965 wave has had profound effects on U.S. society. Most obviously, this wave has changed the ethno-racial composition of the U.S. population quite dramatically.

In the absence of the post-1965 wave, Pew estimates that the non-Hispanic white and black populations would be larger shares of the total U.S. population while the Hispanic and Asian shares would be much smaller. This ethno-racial transformation has attracted a great deal of attention, for obvious reasons. Among immigration advocates, there is a widespread belief that opposition to immigration, including opposition to less-skilled immigration, is driven largely by racial animus against non-whites.

I would argue that a far more consequential effect of the post-1965 wave has been the increase in the number of U.S. residents with low levels of literacy and numeracy. This increase has occurred just as global economic integration and automation have put the wages of less-skilled workers under intense pressure, and as the family lives of college-educated and non-college-educated adults and their children have sharply diverged. Had the post-1965 immigration wave consisted of people with higher-than-average levels of literacy and numeracy, its effect on U.S. society would probably have been markedly different, even if it had been of exactly the same size and ethno-racial composition. One of Pew’s more noteworthy findings is that today’s immigrants have a higher level of educational attainment than those who arrived in 1965.

Specifically, Pew reports that while only half of newly arrived immigrants in 1970 had at least a high-school diploma, by 2013 that share had increased to over three-quarters. And while only a fifth of immigrants had graduated from college in 1970, 41 percent had done so in 2013. Immigration advocates often point to this fact as cause for optimism, particularly when conservatives in particular express concern over the skill levels of immigrants. Are the immigration optimists right: Are the skills of recent immigrants actually quite strong, and are conservative concerns about skills really just a smokescreen for bigotry? To answer this question, we need a better sense of the extent to which years of schooling translate into cognitive skills.

Earlier this year, the Migration Policy Institute (MPI) released a detailed analysis of data from 2012 Program for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies (PIAAC), a comparative study of the cognitive skills of 16- to 65-year-olds in the countries that make up the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). According to PIAAC, immigrants represent 33 percent of adults with low levels of literacy and 24 percent of adults with low levels of numeracy, despite the fact that the foreign-born share of the working-age population is only 15 percent. Even more discouraging is the fact that although native-born U.S. adults outperformed immigrants, both groups are well below the OECD average. In theory, the U.S. could use its immigration system to raise its average skill level by recruiting immigrants with higher levels of literacy and numeracy than the native-born population. Instead, U.S. immigration policy appears to have had a modestly negative effect on the average skill level in the U.S., even though younger immigrants have somewhat stronger skills than their older counterparts.

NPR: In Houston’s Gifted Program, Critics Say Blacks And Latinos Are Overlooked

Ford found that both Hispanic and black students are underrepresented in gifted programs and that black students are missing out the most. She also found that about half the seats in those programs go to higher-income students, even though the majority of the district is poor.
Ford calls it “a waste of a huge number of students’ gifts and talents.”
Ford says Houston’s entire process is laced with problems. She’s seen this in other districts and has ideas on how to improve it, starting with the test.
Houston uses an exam that some educators consider culturally biased, so it may fail to identify a student like Isaac as gifted.
Also, teacher recommendations carry a lot of weight, but can be subjective.
And Ford worries that because the whole selection process is point-based, some families can strategize to get their kids in the program. “Knowing the system, working the system, using that social capital, it does advantage you,” she says.

Comments to NPR:

* I liked that ‘along with Asians’ casually inserted in the course of the usual crude lumping together of all ‘white’ students. The obvious super-achieving of Asian-American kids is routinely ascribed to cultural values by that group. But the poor outcomes for African-American and Hispanic Americans (lumped together, again with crudity) are not. Must be ‘racism’.

The vacuity of this line of thinking is the catch-all ‘white’ category. A Jewish kid from Brooklyn is the same as a Cajun kid from Louisiana is the same as an Appalachian kid from eastern Kentucky is the same as a generically affluent Anglo-Saxon kid from the Chicago suburbs. And on and on. News coverage of ‘race’ seems to be almost willfully, stupefyingly ignorant of subtleties in language, habits, values, etc., that account for differing outcomes. Instead, they stick to a narrative that froze up around 1977, like classic rock radio formats, for cynical political reasons. When their social-engineering brainstorms don’t work, they blame ‘white racism’ and seek even more power from vain and foolish judges and bureaucrats.

* I attribute all of this to Asian and white privilege. I mean how dare those Asians parents teach their kids self discipline, personal responsibility, demand they study, demand they focus and work hard.
They are giving their kids unfair advantages. They should be required by law to teach their kids they are victims and oppressed.

* For a while my kids were at an 80% black school. The turnout at the parent-teacher meetings was 60% white.

* For one reason or another, some parents can’t or won’t prioritize their children’s education. Other factors which could potentially lead to this “underrepresentation” are environmental surroundings (e.g., growing up in economically deprived communities), lacking the drive for higher academic achievement, and – quite frankly (but only in my opinion) – genes. Some of us are just not born with or have access to the brain power to fly in upper academic strata. For those of us who don’t (myself included), we should make every effort to exploit our strengths, curiosities, passions, etc. to make our contribution to and our living from society.

* Entry into gifted programs is not based on educational achievement. It is based on IQ, which is something that blacks and latinos lack in the numbers necessary proportionally to be represented in gifted programs. You can’t teach someone to have a high IQ. Sorry.

* And these people claim they’re coming here for a “better life”. Just who did they think was gonna hand them that “better life”? Did they want it on a silver platter or a gold one?

* If you want to send your children to public schools that are filled with kids who will not or cannot do the work, one solution is to sort them into segregated classes inside the schools. Advanced Placement (AP) classes do that in high schools, when it is much clearer which students are superior. I doubt you will ever meet a first grader who isn’t “gifted,” if you ask his parents. Plus, we have the belief that all children can become gifted if we only expose them to excellent educational programs. Unfortunately, science tells us this isn’t true — most of what we call “giftedness” (where the hell did we get that term) is inherited.

* I posted an article from the Dallas Morning News a few days ago that detailed how poor illegals were flooding the Texas school system and straining it beyond its ability to cope. That article was from 2010 and it’s gotten even worse since then. It explained that forty percent of recent immigrants not only didn’t speak English, they were illiterate even in Spanish. In urban districts here in Texas where up to ninety five percent of the kids are non-English speaking Hispanics, that can cause real problems. We really, really wish we could hand some of that problem off to the states that complain about education in Texas.

California is having an even worse problem than Texas in trying to educate immigrant kids. They used to have one of the best primary educational reputations in the country but they’ve declined drastically in the last decade in the face of the onslaught.

* Flood the country with poor uneducated people and watch things like schools get harder and harder to find. The tax base in Houston to pay for the schools is too often these sprawling hives of low rent apartments that pump kids into the schools. It doesn’t work and then we own the failure and it makes the country worse off.

* Culturally or racially biased questions are the excuse almost universally given to explain the lower performance of blacks and latinos on IQ tests. The truth CANNOT be that there is a difference in IQ among the races, even though the science tells us quite clearly that there is.

* Well, it could not possibly be that there are genetic differences between different groups could it? Such a politically inexpedient fact is simply impossible, because after all, it is the world that must adapt to our expectations and not the other way around. And why is it that the wealthy people are “over-represented”? could it be the same reason why they are wealthy to begin with? The pains NPR took to avoid mentioning the Asian presence is adorable, as was the quick and mumbled cadence the one time it was mentioned. The lack of scientific rigor in these “debates” is getting too embarrassing to even look at.

* 30 years after Charles Murray’s book, The Bell Curve, a peer reviewed, statistically driven explanation of racial diversity. Is the earth flat NPR? We are a product of both nature and nurture. Each of us has our academic limits. If you’re going to follow statistics for climate change, then follow the statistics for everything, including things that may not fit the PC culture. People will be better served to hear the truth.

* “The Bell Curve” should be mandatory reading for all these people. Murray and his work are controversial exactly because the science CANNOT be correct, since the entire liberal world view would crumble if it were. The left only respects science when they think it supports their biases.

* Whites are underrepresented in the NBA and I blame it on not getting enough instruction on basketball fundamentals at home.

* Blacks represent about 17% of the population yet commit about 50% of the violent crime in America. Other groups of poor people don’t commit violence at this rate. In fact, NO other ethnic group commits violence at this rate. It’s a culture of violence not a result of poverty.

* I just heard this story on the radio. It was interesting that the radio hosts, through their vocal patterns, noticeably tried to downplay that ASIANS are also disproportionately represented in students identified as gifted and talented. Guess that doesn’t fit their racism narrative.

* Cultural Marxists need to explain to us three very glaring paradoxes in their victim ideology.

The first:

Black and Hispanic children from the wealthiest families have mean SAT scores lower than white children from families below the poverty line.

The second:

Black and Hispanic children of parents with graduate degrees have lower SAT scores than white children of parents with a high-school diploma or less.

The third:

Cultural Marxists have failed to disprove Spearman’s hypothesis.

* The story is a disgraceful example of the erosion of the meritocracy America was. In our current culture where everyone gets a trophy or as Garrison Keillor might say “everyone’s above average” we are dumbing down accomplishment. Stop with the racist whining. More and more NPR lends its megaphone to people who would destroy effort and accomplishment in the name of fairness.

* I can see how a test could be culturally biases against immigrants, but for children whose families have been in the US for more than one generation, they should have assimilated enough to be part of the general culture.
Also, in the mid-70s, my family sponsored a Vietnamese refugee family who came to the US not speaking English and with just the clothes on their back. By the end of the school year, the kids spoke English and were on the honor roll.

* Another example of NPR’s PC bias. Actually it goes beyond bias. It’s dogma. Educators have defined seven types of intelligence. NPR will occasionally acknowledge that Blacks excel disproportionately in musical intelligence and physical intelligence (athletics). They may even acknowledge that Asians excel disproportionately in math or verbal intelligence. But they are not willing to acknowledge that Blacks and Hispanics do not excel, as an aggregate and in proportion to their numbers, in intellectual abilities. Jensen and Shockley demonstrated this decades ago and for their trouble were drummed out of academia. Lysenkoism was not confined to the Stalin era USSR. It’s alive and well at NPR. NPR needs to have the fortitude to address facts and ideas and conclusions that some people – even designated victim-entitlement groups – may not want to hear.

* James Watson, the twentieth century’s most important biologist, was also drummed out of academics a few years ago for the same observation. We will continue to tie ourselves into knots over racial disparities until we finally face up to what the data have been saying for decades – on average, different ethnic groups have quite different cognitive abilities. Which is not to say that any individuals should be prejudged, but we must recognize reality and stop expecting equal outcomes.

* The big problem here with this news piece is it ASSUMES that the gifted rate should be equal for all racial groups. Until such is PROVEN (and I expect that the results are probably pretty close to equal among racial groups when tested via mechanisms where cultural dynamics are excluded) the authors need to stop making such base statements as they are making regarding the assumed racism.

* “I think it’s a clear case of segregation, gifted education being segregated by race and income.”

If you’re a cultural marxist, that is a religious belief. But it’s simply not true.

At least four major studies have been conducted with remarkably consistent results. They find about 70% of the variance in IQ is associated with genetic variation. Bouchard et al, Science, Oct 12, 1990, present an excellent review of these studies. We can look to the clever experiment of Charles Murray (Income Inequality and IQ, AEI Press, 1998). Murray studied biological sibling pairs selected such that the siblings in each pair differed significantly in IQ, but were reared in the same home by the same parents. Controlling thus for environmental factors, Murray found earnings stratified conspicuously by IQ.

There is much more, but two nails are sufficient to fix the direction of a one-way sign. The arrow of cause points from IQ to income, and not the other way round.

* Houston is swimming in poor immigrants many of whom have parents with minimal education. Over 90% of district students are “Title I”, 80% get free lunch and 30% have limited English skills. Just paying for the schools is a challenge with so many parents producing so little in taxes from their slum apartments (which is where you live when your 8th grade education lands you a job washing dishes). So, combine ultra low sophistication parents with a funding crisis brought on by immigration and there you have it. Yeah, a real shocker.

* U.S. IQ:
Asian 104
White 99
Latino 87
Black 85
End of story.

* Attention NPR: “Hispanic” is not a racial category; it is a cultural-linguistic category, so why are you juxtaposing it with the terms “Asian,” “white,” and “African-American” which denote ancestry? There are white Hispanics (e.g., Ted Cruz and Cameron Diaz), black Hispanics (e.g., Sammy Sosa) and even Asian Hispanics (e.g., former Peruvian president Alberto Fujimori).

The word you’re looking for here is “mestizo.”

“Houston uses an exam that some educators consider culturally biased…”

The leftists at NPR are so committed to a certain egalitarian view of human ability (often referred to as “cultural Marxism”) that they lack the cognitive tools to think clearly about and to discuss honestly racial differences. They think that all talents and abilities are equally distributed across the various branches of the human family even though the scientific evidence tells us that that simply is not the case. The evidence gathered from more than 100 years of psychometrics shows quite clearly that the average African-American IQ is one standard deviation below the average European-American IQ. NPR’s response? The tests – all of them – must be “culturally biased” against blacks and mestizos since the data conflict with their dogma. Are those very same tests somehow biased in favor of Asians since their average score is higher than whites? Is there some invisible “Asian privilege”?

People afraid of science will fabricate excuses all day long in order to stay in denial, but the truth is out there despite the best efforts by the forces of political correctness to squelch an honest discussion.

* The president is black, the attorneys general is black, a supreme justice is black, a senator from the south is black, many congressmen and women are black, there was just a black governor of Massachusetts, there are black big city mayors, heads of Fortune 500 companies are black, brain surgeons are black. * Could this instead have correlation to IQ scores across the races? All reliable studies show that Latinos and Blacks as an aggregate score below Asians and Whites on IQ tests. And with a sizable Asian community in this country, wouldn’t the same test being blamed for “cultural biases” be culturally biased against Asians as well? We have to stop making excuses for different groups, we need to address the fundamental issues and not drag down the quality or thresholds for gifted programs for these programs benefit the truly gifted. Let us not lose sight of helping those that will be societies great contributors.

* Another typical race bait BS. It is GIFTED AND TALENTED PROGRAM! You don’t have the gift and talent, you don’t get it. Simple as that. Latinos and African Americans have the same equal rights to receive education (or more, by AA), but it doesn’t mean you can legislate GIFT AND TALENT. You can’t say Africans and Latinos don’t get a lot of Nobel prize because of racism. You can’t say NBA players are over 90% African American because of racism. Stupid is what stupid does. Not because of discrimination.

* Why do people assume that all racial groups must have equal outcomes? The very same people that slam the political right for being anti-science become religious zealots when they insist that all human population groups possess an equal proportion of talents. I wish Isaac well, I hope he becomes the next Neil Degrasse Tyson. But can we please let go of this progressive version of creationism. Disparate outcomes are not evidence of injustice.

* I’m black and Latino. As a child I was an extremely talented student. I started reading and writing before I started kindergarten. By the time I was in elementary school I was reading and writing at a “college level”, whatever that means. School work was usually review for me since I’d skip ahead whenever I finished my assignments and sat bored in class. When my test scores came back I was placed in the gifted program. My family moved to an all white suburb for a couple of years. Records don’t travel that fast. At least they didn’t 20 years ago. Assumptions were made. The teachers and administrators knew I was different, academically from the other students. They knew I shouldn’t be in the same class as the majority of other students. I was placed in remedial classes for all subjects. The teachers were insulting and openly racist to my face. My favorite teacher, the one who I thought was on my side, made jokes about me listening to gangsta rap and likened it to admiring serial killers. She randomly called me to her desk one day and asked what racial term I preferred to be called. I told her it’s best she call me by my name and walked away. I was proud to have been able to say something slightly witty and brave enough to do so to a teacher at 11 years old. I walked home that day crying the entire time. I took the long way home so I could get it all out. Eventually we moved back to the inner city, where failing schools and a different kind of racism awaited me.

* No kidding, flooding the schools with poor ESL students is a bad idea and creates obvious funding problems and poor outcomes. Shocking, huh?

* The U.S. Government has spent $23 TRILLION on anti-poverty programs since 1965 (more than the spending for all wars since the Revolutionary War). The poverty rate is the same today as it was in 1965.

SUCCESS!

* This entire article distills to one single fact and that is that liberals, progressives and Democrats will NEVER accept that genetics plays any role in determining an individuals intellectual acuity and of course that it is impossible that there could be any differences between racial groups. Liberals, progressives and Democrats “feel” that intelligence is solely due to the environment but the fact is that there is never equality, even after the moment of conception. Unfortunately for all of us this argument will never end no matter how much empirical and statistical evidence is amassed. To accept a role for genetics means that the Liberals, progressives and Democrats will have to abandon their quest for a utopia where everyone is equal. Detroit, Baltimore and Chicago are all perfect examples of the utopias that have come in to existence and collapsed under the thought control and management of these groups.

* For LAUSD, the criteria for gifted if different in “minority and lower income” children. This is a total discrimination to any other groups and income level families. Test should be fair and equal for all races and level of income.
I am tired of hearing “equality” when the means to get some of their ethnic groups to qualify gifted is not fair.
Asian is such a big and diverse group that it is to unfair to treat them as one. Indians and Hmong are two total different groups of people and cultures.
We should strive to provide quality teachers to all children. Those kids who are disruptive and have behavior problems should be provided help and counseling and placed at a level of education that they can handle.

Urban Deliverance

* I’ve commented before about the seeming uptick in heinous incest cases among blacks in Georgia. Incest is big among those weird Nuwabian cultists. I remember reading in the AJC — buried in the Metro section — last year a story about a Nuwabian guy and his wife who imprisoned, starved and sexually abused their daughter. His wife was his other daughter. Not the first time I’ve come across such a story. You can always count an exorcism-gone-wrong case now and then as well. Very urban Deliverance and occupying no mental space among SJWs who are always ready to vilify Southern whites with insults of incest and superstition.

* Europeans, especially northern and northwestern Europeans, have been avoiding cousin marriages for many CENTURIES, over a thousand years in core NW Europe. Meanwhile, cousin marriage at the level seen among Muslims causes a noticeably lower IQ, in proportion to the degree of inbreeding.

* Family unification and chain migration must go. We are always being told today’s immigrants are no different than yesterday’s European ones. Well if that is the case then let’s get rid of family unification. My immigrant predecessor was only allowed to bring his white body into the USA. If any of his family members wanted to come, they had to apply on their on merit and were not green-lighted a visa. It’s only fair that immigrants of today get no advantages over immigrants of the past.

Speaking of which, we should also end all welfare type payments for today’s immigrants. My immigrant predecessor had to prove he would not become a ward of the state before he was allowed entry. The same should happen today. Immigrants are supposed to be hardy, self-reliant individuals. Getting welfare is cheating.

I would also add any immigrant granted citizenship must vote in English. My immigrant predecessor was never offered a ballot or driver’s license exam in his native tongue.

For people who talk so much about equal treatment, today’s immigrants and their supporters sure seem to want special privileges that previous immigrants didn’t receive.

* My daughter (white) and her (mostly white) friends at a college in England were great friends with a muslim lad by the name of Iqbal. Iqbal was a pleasant young man but his family insisted that he should regard his cousins — of which there were many — as more important than any ‘casual’ friendships he might make. When Iqbal’s cousin Ahmed ever entered the college refectory Iqbal was required to leave whatever he was doing and go and shake hands with Ahmed.

Iqbal disliked this, partly because he wanted his own life but mostly because cousin Ahmed was a nasty and unpleasant creature. Family ties mattered so much however that Iqbal had to obey the rule. Privately he would say he hated his cousin, but such was family ‘law’ in his people that Ahmed had to matter more than anyone else. What he knew was that if Ahmed wanted to make trouble anytime, Iqbal would have to back him up.

So there we have one of the unspoken aspects of the Pakistani/muslim obsession with cousins: they all have to follow whatever happens, which may explain why any potential (dare I say) threat to security is magnified by any family ties.

* Back in the early 90′s, I dated a divorced Lebanese-American woman who had been born in the Detroit area. She was not only a Muslim, but a Shiite! I learned from her that she had been sent to Lebanon when she was 15 to marry a man who was her first cousin. The idea was that they were not to consummate the marriage, return to the U.S. so he could get admitted, and then, after a certain period of time, they were to divorce. The best laid plans, as the expression goes. She got pregnant before returning to the States, so they had to remain married and ultimately had three children together.

* Back when I was attending public high school in Washington, D.C., we had something called the “Track System.” Students were assigned to one of four tracks: Track I (Honors track for the gifted student), Track II (Academic track for students planning to go to college), Track III (General track for students not planning to go to college) and Track IV (Basic track for the less academically gifted). Sometime in the early 60′s, a local black civil rights activist named Julius Hobson started filing various lawsuits, one of which challenged the Track System as discriminatory against black students. He was ultimately successful in winning his court case sometime in the mid to late 60′s and the Track System bit the dust. The Honors Track generally had the best students taking courses limited just to like students who were taught by better teachers, and classes tended to be much smaller than normal. In my experience, the Track System seemed to work pretty well, since students who were less than serious were segregated away from more serious students.

* NPR story “In Houston’s Gifted Program, Critics Say Blacks And Latinos Are Overlooked”

Yes — but look through the over 500 comments provoked by that Blank Slate/White Privilege fable. Of the subset of listeners who wrote in, probably 90% aren’t buying what the reporter is selling.

NPR seems to have suspended their policy of aggressive moderation. I expect that the clampdown on ungoodthink will return with a vengeance.

* Americans are extremely weirded out by first cousins marrying, whereas respectable Europeans like Darwin and Einstein married their cousins. I think eugenicists made cousin marriage disreputable among Americans, but maybe it goes back earlier.

* I think you have to distinguish between hatred of white nationalists and hatred of white people in general. Your average Scardsale orthodontist doesn’t have much dislike of the WASP family next door, but would get uncomfortably very quickly if the White Students Union showed up.

Remember, the elite has to convince Jews not to intermarriage or their clout shrinks. So they try to play up Jewish identity.

* Belloc was remarkably prescient about the Muslims, writing that they would one day be a far greater threat to Western Civilization than either Nazism or Communism. Given when this was written (right before WW2), people must have thought he was insane.

* “What one needs to understand about Jews is that their shell game is all based on identity.”

 Replace “Jews” with “ethnic groups” and you are spot on. Listen, why should anyone be surprised regarding identity politics? The coalition of the fringes from both sides of the aisle have been upping the ante for the past two decades.

“The Jewish identity is *one big country club* based on identity. That’s the irony. That’s why they get their shit so torn up on the subject and why they go to great lengths to destroy everyone else’s.”

As opposed to any other group who also engages in similar tactics. There’s no irony, here.

As are the Christians, the Muslims, the white nationalists, the black nationalists, etc.

American history has demonstrated that it ALWAYS has been about identity. Where have you been?

* Right, a commenter pointed out that a boxing analogy applies: you want to get the government to arrange the affirmative action categories so that your family comes in at the top of your assigned weight class, not at the bottom.

For example, the government used to lump Asians and Pacific Islanders together, but for the 2000 Census, Hawaiian activists got Pacific Islanders broken out separately because it wasn’t doing them any good in terms of affirmative action to have to compete with Chinese and Indians.

It would be disastrous for Jews to be administratively broken out from whites in a separate category, because they tend to weigh in near the top of the white weight class. Jewish organizations have vetoed all attempts to have a “Jewish” category, even where it would be obviously applicable, even on the “Ancestry” question where whites are asked to pick a single ancestral nationality, such as German, English, or Scots-Irish. There are no affirmative action benefits tied to Ancestry figures, but you are still not allowed to pick Jewish.

On the other hand, for cultural/psychological/guilt-induction purposes, there are obvious advantages from getting out from under the straight white male bogeyman category.

* When Jews fill out college, job and other applications, do 99.99% put down white? Yes.

If you stop a random Jew on the street and ask him, does he say he’s white? 99.99% of the time yes.

Even when jews know they will suffer from affirmative action in admission and employment, 99.99% say they are white.

But no, let’s highlight the 1 in a million (maybe at most 1 in 10,000) Jew who thinks he’s not white because as a liberal he doesn’t believe races exist since not even he believes that Jews cluster with blacks or Orientals.

Genetically Jews are a different ethnicity from Swedes or Germans, but racially clearly cluster as part of one white race. That an ethnic group differs is always the case which is why the Poles look Polish, not Irish. The Jews are, however, part of the same haplogroup as other Meds: Italians, Greeks, etc. All of them are J-haplogroup, which is part of the white cluster of haplogroups.

Jews look white because they are in fact white. That’s why blacks and Orientals don’t look white even if they are 75% white and only 25% another race. But a jew can be 100% Jewish and in some cases you can’t tell (just look at all the people Jew watch got wrong).

* When Germany was strong (before 1914), most Jews tried to become “good Germans” (undoubtedly “in good faith”); but after Germany had become weak (1918), most Jews were much less interested in being German (even if the Kaiser had been removed).
I suppose, in this case – as in so many others – Jews were only the precursors of a modern tendency: investing in national identity according to the capital (reputation, opportunities) which comes with this identity.

* Saul Goodman from Breaking Bad and the main diamond merchant from Snatch pretend to be Jews. Interestingly, the former does so to trick gentiles into believing that he is a smart Jewish lawyer while the latter does so to integrate with the Jewish diamond trading community.

Indeed, it seems like a minor trope in Hollywood and big budget TV; which makes sense considering how disproportionately Jewish that industry is. Gentile writers and directors, like the British quasi aristocrat Guy Ritchie, seem to have almost considered passing. Then again, the fact that you can joke about it probably means that it is not very important.

* The point about pretending to be a Jew is that no-one would know that you were pretending. I suspect that the only thing you would find is that you have the same level of instant bond with Jews as if you were from the same home town or supported the same football team. Which is significant and useful but not life-changing.

The level of bonding would also be highly dependent on the other person. I benefit from a similar asabbiyah, as I went to boarding school, so I think that I get it. Essentially by just going to boarding school you share a reasonable number of experiences and that creates group feeling and trust with all other boarders not just those at the same school…but not that much! (It’s an easy and fun opening topic of conversation with its own jokes.)

* It is always risky to look for one cause for things, but the book “Resentment Against Achievement” by Robert Sheaffer, comes very close. (I realize that others, like von Mises in “The Anti-Capitalistic Mentality” have made similar arguments).

It explains both black anger and white guilt pretty well.

And the beauty of Sheaffer’s theory is that it does not need to take either race or IQ for its explanatory power.

* How does it work? Show up at your local Reform temple and tell them you’re interested in the religion. They’re pretty lax about it (they’re lax about everything). Even the Orthodox will let you in if you pester them enough. You’ll have to waste a lot of time reading arcane religious texts though.

* My best friend’s dad was in the garment business in L.A. He wound up with an accent just like Milton Berle’s, though he had been Irish Catholic who dropped out of Yale on 12.8.41 to join the Army.

* On the one hand, it’s true that people (not just Jews) tend to tout their experiences, no matter how lame, to prove their in-group membership. My father was a concentration camp survivor – one of those guys you see in the documentaries with the striped uniform and their ribs showing). When he first came to the US, one of his first jobs was in a kosher butcher shop. One day one of his customers said to him something like, “You know, we didn’t have it easy here either during the war – we had ration cards and you could only get chicken once per week.” This to a man who had spent four years living on watery turnip soup (he never ate a turnip again in his life). He wanted to say to her, “Lady, you have no f-ing idea”, but he held his tongue.

On the other hand, one should not gloss over the pervasiveness and effect of anti-Semitism in America in its heyday (’20 thru ’50s) and which persisted in some respects into the 1970s. Compared to Europe and compared to the treatment of blacks in America (or Japanese Americans during WWII) , American Jews were certainly lucky, but that just means that instead of being atrocious, their treatment was just nasty. The “country club” thing is just one aspect of pervasive anti-Semitism that meant Jews were excluded (sometimes except for small quotas) from top universities, jobs in big business and major law firms, living in certain neighborhoods, staying at certain hotels, etc. Of course American Jews were able to create their own “separate but equal” institutions, but being a 2nd class citizen in a country that was, according to its founding documents, non-sectarian, was no small thing and it is right that we not sweep this history under the rug or poo-poo it as no big deal.

* A lot of Jewish pundits who criticize European Americans, aka, “whites,” as a group (Frank Rich for example) and celebrate its passing as the majority (fill in the blank) certainly act like they don’t consider themselves white. These columns somehow comes across as being more about “them” than “us.” Similarly, when the alpha male economist Paul Samuelson advocated for NAFTA and free trade with low-wage Goliaths like China, it seemed that he had already calculated in the back of his mind, perhaps unconsciously, that none of the people he knew, including his relatives, would be adversely affected. This is an argument for selecting our elites, as in Ivy League admissions, to better reflect the ethnic and geographical and, yes, the socio-economic diversity of America. In other words, affirmative action for all! Though it is largely forgotten, Charles Murray touches on this theme — in fact it is the theme — in his book, The Bell Curve. Ethnic and racial diversity is a bitch. A meritocracy in an ethnically and racially diverse society is even bitchier.
