John Derbyshire, Charles Murray & Immigration

The late Lawrence Auster wrote in 2006:

John Derbyshire asked Charles Murray for his views on immigration. Murray wrote him back a point-by-point e-mail, which Derbyshire posted at The Corner. Among Murray’s points was:

3. I am not impressed by worries about losing America’s Anglo-European identity. Some of the most American people I know are immigrants from other parts of the world. And I’d a hell of a lot rather live in a Little Vietnam or a Little Guatemala neighborhood, even if I couldn’t read the store signs, than in many white-bread communities I can think of.

Derbyshire commented:

Pure Murray—clear, succinct, data-based, no punches pulled. And not a thing I can see to disagree with [emphasis added].

Ok, Murray couldn’t care less if Anglo-European America disappears from the universe. We knew that he’s a libertarian social scientist, and as such is indifferent to cultural and ethnic realities except insofar as they can be reduced to data points. But what about Derbyshire’s agreeing with Murray? Wasn’t Derbyshire a paleoconservative on immigration, meaning someone who is attached to America’s and the West’s historic cultures and peoples? I noted a couple of months ago how he had urged that conservatives refuse to vote for the House Republicans, which, I said, would lead to the passage of Bush’s amnesty and “guest-worker” program. But now Derbyshire has gone much further, explicitly opting for a non-white America. In the past, Derbyshire had said he likes the social company of New York liberals more than that of Red State conservatives. Now he says he prefers a non-white America to white America.

Also note how race-blindness or race-neutrality never remains as such. Among Murray’s earlier points was that “English should be the only language … in which the public’s business is conducted.” But then Murray turns around and, backed by Derbyshire, says that he prefers the non-Western communities springing up in America, even when their signs are not in English. In other words, Murray’s (and Derbyshire’s) endorsement of an American cultural component that is safely race-neutral, such as the English language, instantly gives way in the face of Murray’s (and Derbyshire’s) active preference for non-whites and active dislike of whites.

By the way, Derbyshire is married to an Asian woman, and Murray’s first wife, with whom he had two daughters, is Asian. Not that marriage to a non-white is a necessary basis of race-treason, since race-treason is the prevalent belief system of the contemporary West. But it is virtually impossible for a white married to a nonwhite to maintain a sense of identity with the white race.

I know what I’ve said above will make some people uncomfortable with me. Which leads to the question, is it illegitimate, is it morally wrong, is it disgusting to speak of our attachment to the white race of which we are a part, the white race without which our entire civilization, and we ourselves, along with everything we have and everything we love, would not exist? This is the question of questions, which I’ve addressed many times, for example, here.

Let’s put the question of morality this way. Given that there is at present a vast movement which has the inevitable effect and often the explicit aim of turning every white majority country on earth into a white minority country, what would a moral response to this movement consist of? Today’s belief system, both among liberals and conservatives, is that there is no moral response to it, except either to applaud it or accept it. In other words, those who wish to eliminate the white West from history have the perfect moral right to do so, while those who oppose this project have no moral right to do so. Can anyone fairly say that such a view of morality is—moral?

Thank you, Mr. Auster. Too many people are too “politically correct” (and I’m talking about people on the race-realist right here) to speak openly about the Asian-marriage fetish as being influential with respect to specimens such as Derbyshire and Murray. But, obviously, it is so.

Let’s take Derbyshire, for whom we have more data, since he has posted family pictures on his website. The man married a Chinese woman and has two mixed-race children with her. That’s where his genes are, that’s where his family is—in half-Chinese children. He wakes up in the morning married to someone from a population group separated from his own for at least 40,000 years—a person of markedly different genotype and phenotype, of a different culture, civilization, mindset, upbringing, everything. Derbyshire mocks his own anglo-saxon appearance as being “something from Deliverance”, while stating that this is counter-balanced by the (presumably superior) alien features of his wife.

Why should anyone think a man like this would have the slightest interest in promoting specifically white racial interests? His whole life has been a choice to bury his own whiteness under the orientalness of his new family.

EG continues:

He may have removed the “Deliverance” comment from these photos, I no longer seem able to find it.

He was publicly criticized for that on the “Majority Rights” blog, so I am not sure if that influenced anything.

In any case, these photos are clear evidence of a man who has decided to jettison loyalty to the West.

Gintas J. writes:

We live in a nation of rootless mercenary individuals. Maybe these guys see pockets of illiberal but ordered and cohesive immigrants, and it’s attractive to them in a visceral way.

Rick Darby writes:

Other points made by Charles Murray—that is, 1, 2, and 4 on legal immigration—are pretty sound, and you still have to credit him for being willing to acknowledge the significance of IQ, which most social scientists and pundits won’t touch with a barge pole.

Item 3, which you have quoted, is out of character with the rest of his answers and extremely muddle headed for someone who believes social issues can be argued scientifically:

“I am not impressed by worries about losing America’s Anglo-European identity.” Ambiguous. Does the think America’s Anglo-American identity is being lost, or is he just not bothered about it? Any decent editor would query him to clarify his meaning, and he is capable of writing fastidiously when he feels like it, so I’ve got to think he’s hedging.

“Some of the most American people I know are immigrants from other parts of the world.” Ambiguous again, but if he means there are some immigrants who have American values (besides getting rich), that is no doubt true, but in the context it is as irrelevant as saying that some immigrants are serial killers. The issue is not whether some individual immigrants are this or that, but the social changes we are already experiencing from a vast influx of immigrants from fundamentally different cultures than the traditional American one.

Murray, number cruncher par excellence, doesn’t even look at the number of immigrants now and the greater number to be expected in the future if El Jefe Bush gets his way. He reduces the issue to the personal and anecdotal—he might as well say, “My wife and I have a Guatemalan cook and she’s a very nice person.” Again, he is more intellectually sophisticated than that, so I’ve got to think he’s blowing smoke.

“And I’d a hell of a lot rather live in a Little Vietnam or a Little Guatemala neighborhood, even if I couldn’t read the store signs, than in many white-bread communities I can think of.” He may be sincere about the second part—and there are white-bread communities I wouldn’t choose to live in either—but I don’t for one split second believe the first. If he had to make the choice for real rather than rhetorically, no white midwestern-bred academic/scholar/writer would choose an Asian or Latino area for a permanent residence over an all-white neighborhood, even if he found some aspect of the white neighborhood unsatisfying.

Finally, who gives a snort what his personal taste in ethnicity is? If he moves to South Africa and lives with Zulus it’s fine with me, but Americans should be able—at any income level, not just if they’re super-rich—to live in the ethnic environment of their own choice, even if that’s a “white-bread” world with not enough variety for some of us. Thanks to mass immigration, many poor and even middle class Anglos have no option except to live where Hispanics or members of some other group predominate.

Murray and his ilk have no business making their personal preferences into national policy about the ethnic makeup of the country.

LA replies:

Yes to Mr. Darby’s points, but the question is, why does Murray suddenly go muddle headed? Here’s why: Race is the determining factor in the immigration issue. Given contemporary ideological and demographic realities, if you’re not for the white race, you’re ultimately going to be against it, and then all your logical arguments will yield to the anti-white imperative.

Gintas writes:

With regards to Derbyshire’s family, what’s done is done. There was a cluster of things that made for a healthy West, whiteness isn’t the sum of it. [LA interjects: Gintas must be aware that I have never that whiteness is the sum of the West and that I have repeatedly and at great length said just the opposite; so why does he throw in this straw man? Why is it so hard for people to grasp the idea that something can be an indispensable condition of something else, without being the sufficient condition?]

Derbyshire could promote these other things, all of which are important. He could promote healthy family life; he could be a rooted traditionalist, he could turn his family into good Westerners grafted in to the Western tradition.

He could promote man as something more than economic man, he could promote a Transcendant under which life is ordered. He could love his Western heritage, and the inheritance he enjoys, and be grateful. And there are many things like that.

But he’s not doing any of that, is he?

Carl Simpson writes:

I’m curious. Since both men have explicitly stated that they find both Asian (Vietnamese) and Central American (Guatemalan) neighborhoods vastly superior to white ones, why don’t they take their families and move to Vietnam or Guatemala? Both countries are surely superior to any nation with lots of white folks, no?

They’re behaving as liberals typically do when it come to such professions of racial guilt and self-hate—like laughable parasites.

They probably are at least dimly aware of what life would really be like if they actually did move to Guatemala or Vietnam. The fact that such places aren’t very livable is the fault of Whitey’s colonialism, of course! We forget that they were multicultural paradises—like the fabled land of Al-Andalus—before the white man spread his evil religion, environmental disaster, racism, sexism, homophobia, etc.

(We’ve all heard the litany a million times before.) The whitest neighborhoods in the USA are the gated communities where rich liberals who prattle on about their racial guilt live. The whitest schools are the expensive private schools attended by their kids. Why, exactly, would any rational human being of any race take their remarks on this subject seriously?

LA replies:

Well, I’m sure they would reply that it is America they prefer, not Vietnam or Guatamala, but the America they prefer is an America constantly reinvigorated by the energies of recent immigrants.

Gintas writes:

I’m sorry I made a straw man, I certainly wasn’t thinking of you as a monomaniac in that respect, your breadth of coverage on the cluster of conservative and traditionalist issues is the reason I like your site and bother to interact. Sometimes I make points to clarify thinking in my own head, because I don’t understand something until I can explain it.

My intent, badly made, was to suggest that Derbyshire, even with what he has done in his personal life—and it’s a big irreversible thing, it’s not just an idea he needs to change in his head—could still contribute, and he’s not doing anything positive at all. I gather the point of your post was to show that here is yet another way Derbyshire is betraying the West. Agreed.

I keep having MajorityRights.com on my mind … it’s messing me up. I saw comments yesterday slagging on The Inverted World already.

Shrewsbury writes:

Charles Murray writes, “And I’d a hell of a lot rather live in a Little Vietnam or a Little Guatemala neighborhood, even if I couldn’t read the store signs, than in many white-bread communities I can think of.”

What a crock. He wouldn’t last two days in a Guatemalan neighborhood before he fled to the very most bleached and enriched Wonder Bread community he could find. Let him live in Shrewsbury’s half-Mex neighborhood here in God-forsake SoCal and try to work on his ponderous tomes with the thumping of ranchero music always in the background. See how he likes the continual combat against shopping carts, trash, rats, and graffiti, to say nothing of people being casually murdered within half a block of his front door (in Shrewsbury’s case, two since he’s lived here).

Can we trade domiciles? Can I go live in his “hideously white” world, while he comes here to get down and boogie with los muchachos?

What a crock. And yet there are legions of white folks who really believe that they think this way. It’s difficult to simulate the abstract fantasy Flatland mental universe they must inhabit, but it sure doesn’t have much to with any reality I can perceive….

And these are the people who tell us how to live.

Feh.

Paul W. writes:

The brother of a friend of mine is married to a Chinese girl, has two children by her and has lived in China for the last ten years. Not withstanding this, he has retained a British sense of humour, and every year applies in person for a Chinese passport. Every year the official at said passport office summons his colleagues over in order to observe this peculiar alien and every year their reply, accompanied with great mirth is: “How can you think you qualify to be Chinese when you are clearly a white man!”

Although he does this in a tongue in cheek manner, he is of course aware that within fifty years or so the people who do this to him will still survive, whilst he and the rest of his civilisation may well not.

Mark A. writes:

Great comments so far. I think this is another case of liberalism out of control. Derbyshire and Murray are, like most libertarians, liberals at heart. They don’t have a conservative belief system that balances individuals’ desires with obligations/loyalty to a group/tribe/society/religion. When a liberal wants to do something, his only concerns are concerns for himself. That is what is refreshing about VFR and many of the comments. The comments are actually concerned about the tribe! Concerned about something larger than themselves! This line of thinking is totally foreign to the liberal.

Many conservatives may be thinking, “But aren’t liberals are always crying about the poor, global government, etc. That is larger than themselves, no?” This is true, but I think this is much more an expression of their own personal emotional needs regarding those issues than clear rational thought. (Ever notice how anti-gun liberals are always wimps? Their political expression is one of their own personal weakness, rather than any concern for the society/tribe.)

Murray is so muddleheaded about the issue because he can’t even believe that someone would think like this. Murray said, “I am not impressed by worries about losing America’s Anglo-European identity.” Heck, Murray has probably never even thought about losing America’s Anglo-European identity. This makes perfect sense. The libertarian/liberal is always a narcissist who thinks of nothing more than himself. Why would it ever occur to Murray or Derbyshire to think of the white Tribe?

Alan R. writes:

Your latest post on John Derbyshire reminds me of something I’ve wanted to share with someone who’d appreciate it. There is good reason to believe that I was the trigger of Derb’s NRO piece “God & Me.” Allow me to explain.

Several months ago I wrote Derb asking him to clarify his position on Darwinism. The main thrust of my e-mail was that Darwinism requires atheism, or at least deism, since it is premised on the belief that God does not interfere with the material world, not even to create or develop life. I also pointed out that a conservative ought not be enthusiastic about Darwinism, because it is corrosive of our society, with its implication that we are purely material beings. The subject line of my e-mail was “Are You a Theistic or an Atheistic Darwinist?”

Derb wrote a brief reply in which he said that the reason he thinks creationism (undoubtedly his term for any anti-Darwinism) is “nonsense” is that it requires the sudden appearance of new species; “poof,” as he put it.

I responded by pointing out that his response to me implied, but did not openly say, that he is either an atheist or a deist. In addition to providing brief arguments against both positions, I said that he owes it to us his readers to clarify his religious beliefs.

About one week after I asked him to clarify his religious beliefs, he made his apostasy from Christianity official with “God & Me.” In response, I sent him an e-mail in which I pointed out that he is being irrational: Darwinists simply assume that God is not involved, and then he gives Darwinism as his only evidence that Christianity is not true, which is circular reasoning. [Presuppositional apologetics in action.] I also said “I appeal to the scientist in you to correct the circular reasoning,” and asked him if he had any actual evidence that Christianity is false, or that the arguments for Christianity are invalid. Finally, I pointed out that Christianity is his heritage as a member of Western Civilization, and I referred to the Thirty-Nine Articles of the Anglican Church to correct a specific misapprehension about the teachings of Christianity that his article had shown. I have not received a reply, and I don’t expect one.

One reason I asked him to clarify his religious beliefs was to mitigate his bad influence: if he openly expresses his rejection of Christianity, perhaps his erroneous beliefs will begin to look less appealing to the undecided.

Derb is a fascinating case. I feel a certain affection for him, but his fundamental worldview is clearly secular liberalism, to which he adds a few unprincipled exceptions based, presumably, on feelings rather than consciously articulated fundamental principles. He is, unfortunately, more of an opponent than an ally of proper conservatism. On the other hand, the Sovereign Lord of the universe has brought repentance to many people who were even further lost in unbelief, so let us pray that He has mercy on John Derbyshire by giving him the gift of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Van Wijk writes:

You said: “Well, I’m sure they would reply that it is America they prefer, not Vietnam or Guatamala, but the America they prefer is an America constantly reinvigorated by the energies of recent immigrants.”

They want all the fat and none of the calories. But is this not the very essence of liberalism, that there is a panacea out there somewhere, a New Man just waiting to come to the fore if only we’d drop all of our prejudices? Unfortunately, we are being invaded by peoples who are not liberals by any stretch of the imagination; their ethnic and cultural loyalties are very much intact, and once Whitey is put out of his misery they’ll be free to Balkanize utterly what was once a sovereign nation.

Asher M. writes:

Murray’s third point about legal immigration seems to be in part a consequence of his first, that immigration contributes to the dynamism of a society. And I suppose the 20’s after the 1924 immigration restriction act were not “dynamic,” nor were the early 60’s, before the 1965 immigration act? Those periods weren’t exactly known for strengthening the average American family either. Where once Murray wrote with a tone of prudence and social concern in The Bell Curve, he now seems to embrace the dynamist dogma of Virginia Postrel, of “a forward-looking and change-seeking philosophy.” Murray certainly knows that the ills he often cautions against, principally illegitimacy, would be far more frequent in a “Little Guatemala” (if white-bread isn’t code for “white trash”). He reminds me of Steve Sailer’s depictions of economist-aesthete Tyler Cowen:

“Thus, when Tyler calls for the creation of Hispanic shantytowns in the U.S. because of all the good music they will produce (as he memorably did in Slate), well, that’s pretty cool. Granted, it’s demented and sociologically nonsensical (good music comes out of black shantytowns, not Mexican ones), but, still, it’s cool in a cruel, decadent aesthete sort of way.”

His comments are of the vague and therefore vacuous species, so it’s hard to take him seriously. Does he honestly prefer a Little Guatemala to egghead-strewn Washington D.C. and Manhattan? Maybe for the novelty, as Tyler Cowen does, but once he steps through AEI’s doors, it’s clearly “Albion’s Seed,” broadly, Western Civilization, he prefers.

Derbyshire seems increasingly unfocused and sporadic; his manner is often effeminate, discussing his personal life and views, as you’ve discussed, more in the context of himself than in pursuit of knowledge or truth (whether you agree with his conclusions or not). He is getting quite sloppy in his writing, as he did briefly in The New English Review, writing that “girls are encouraged to act like boys by taking up advanced science, math, and strenuous sports, which few of them have any liking or aptitude for;” which, while not egregious, is inaccurate. Though I think your treatment of his comment that he prefers the company of liberal Manhattanites to evangelicals was disingenuous. As Derbyshire said elsewhere, he prefers whites to others, but: “I have lots of preferences and identifications that trump race for me though, in lots of circumstances. It certainly isn’t the primary way I identify myself, or even one of the top five. I would feel MUCH more at ease in a roomful of black African mathematicians, than in a roomful of white English soccer hooligans.” http://www.theamericanscene.com/2006/06/derb-i-believe-that-there-are-few-men.php

Just as Jared Taylor might well prefer the company of say, pscyhometricians and social scientists, to those who merely agree with him. The appeal of the former lies in their discussion of ideas, not their agreement with Taylor.

LA replies:

How was my treatment of his statement that he prefers liberals to conservatives disingenuous?

Robert C. writes:

Murray is intellectually inconsistent with his remark about not minding the disappearance of Anglo-European culture. In his book “Human Accomplishment” he notes how almost all intellectual advances since Greece have come from Western society. He also notes that he was surprised to find that Christianity was crucially involved in this superiority. That is, European and Anglo-European culture has been critical to the intellectual advances for the past 2000 years.

Yet he doesn’t mind if that culture is destroyed? Maybe he thinks immigrants will fit right in, but does he not worry that there might be some risk and therefore, first do no harm?

LA replies

Thanks to Robert C. for reminding us of Murray’s Human Accomplishment. And the explanation for Murray’s muddle-headed self-contraction is, again, that it is forbidden for modern people to believe that race matters. So, Murray could write a vast tome showing—without drawing practical conclusions from his findings—the hugely disproportionate contribution of whites and Christians to the higher achievements of mankind. But when it comes to something of great and immediate practical consequences for our society—the question of whom shall we admit as immigrants—Murray turns around and professes total indifference to the historical white Christian nature of our country and, sounding like a typical liberal snob, snottily lets us know about his preference for those lively and vital immigrants over those boring white-bread Americans.

And to repeat my earlier observation, Derbyshire, in echoing Murray, graduates from his previous treasonous statement that he prefers the company of liberals over the company of conservatives, to saying that he prefers the company of nonwhites over the company of whites.

Where will Derbyshire wander next on his journey into liberaldom and its demotion of all values? Having echoed the reductionist atheist Darwinians at Steve Sailer’s Bio-Diversity list who say that Darwinian natural selection explains everything and that there is no God, and having echoed the libertarian Charles Murray who commented that he prefers nonwhites to whites, maybe Derbyshire will next echo the Marxist paleontologist Stephen J. Gould, who said that humans are no better than, and indeed inferior to, bacteria. Gould wrote:

Evolution is a copiously branching network, not a ladder, and I do not see how we, the titular spokesmen for a few thousand mammalian species, can claim superiority over three quarters of a million species of insects who will surely outlive us, not to mention the bacteria, who have shown remarkable staying power for more than three billion years.

Tom S. writes:

I’m not going to criticize John Derbyshire too much for marrying a Chinese woman. Given the depredations of feminism on many Western women, a lot of Anglo guys are probably tempted in that direction (I was fortunate—I found a traditional Anglo girl, but it wasn’t easy… ). More significant, I think, is the fact that Derbyshire’s wife is a liberal Democrat—and her father is a high official in the Chinese Communist Party! I wouldn’t argue that the personal is political, but a person’s politics tells us something about their personal values, and that JD can choose as the mother of his children a non-Christian liberal whose Father is a Communist official, and who seems to find nothing wrong with her father being a Communist official, indicates, I believe, what kind of a conservative he is. I’ll bet there are interesting conversations around the dinner table; “So, Honey, how’s your Father? Ordered any executions of Falun Gong members to sell their organs recently? Or just the usual beatings and torture in the Laogai? How’s that preparation for war against the U.S. going? Any new arms sales to Al Quaeda? “ For Lord’s sake…

I hope that this doesn’t sound too personal, but JD has openly discussed his wife’s affiliations and beliefs, and hence has made them fair game. If he had not, I would not be making them an issue, but a supposed “Race-Realist” patriot immigration restrictionist being married to the daughter of a Chinese Communist Party member is just too much.

Cuck-Slapping Charles Murray

From Vox Popoli: Charles Murray has done some genuinely good and courageous work in the past, but with regards to immigration, he jumped several sharks this day:

Charles Murray @charlesmurray
It could be the 1850s and the Know Nothings. Same fear, same rhetoric, same fascist tendencies. And I don’t use “fascist” loosely.

Mike Cernovich ‏@Cernovich
Fascism in 1850?  Did you have a stroke, Charles?

Ken Zimmern ‏@KenZimmern
Opposing uncontrolled immigration is not fear, it’s national preservation. Sensible immigration necessary.

zerg_rush ‏@zerg_rush01
why not replace Charles with a cheaper, more eager Eritrean equivalent?

SpookyGoyScaryToy ‏@WorldWarMeme
only thing you can be too conservative on is immigration apparently.Old cucks are wasting rhetoric, they’ve lost

Jack Hanson ‏@jhansonwrites
600k plus Americans died because of Yankee “altruism”. How many millions are going 2 die this time?

Preston S. Brooks ‏@Rebel_Bill
So is this willful blindness or are you signalling that the Koch Brothers have bought you?

Enlightened Cow ‏@bendiestraw
Why is it always the people that live in HUGELY white areas are for diversity and mass immigration? His town is 99% white.

Vox Day ‏@voxday
Not to mention the worst thing about the 1850s, when the Know Nothings rounded up the Jews and killed them at Auschwitz.

Charles Murray doesn’t use the term “fascist” loosely. He uses it ahistorically and incorrectly.

COMMENTS:

* Charles Murray caught heat from John Derbyshire, Steve Sailer and the late Lawrence Auster some ten years ago as a participant on NRO’s The Corner for saying that he’d rather live in a vibrant Guatemalan neighborhood than a boring white-bread one. It was almost immediately pointed out to Murray that his exurban Maryland town is something like 99.6% White.

* Murray can read. He can look things up on the net. He can see the streams of migrants overwhelming Europe on television station. He ain’t stupid. I just saw on Breitbart yet another beating and rape of a woman by an illegal immigrant. From Honduras. He had been arrested for violent crimes twice, came back over the border twice, the third time he kidnapped a woman and her two year old, beat her and raped her repeatedly. Near Kansas City. I have elderly relatives living there. And young goodlooking girl relatives there. Murray is a son-of-a-bitch. He is now privileged and contemptuous of the ‘stupid’ common people. I don’t care if he wrote The Bell Curve or the Bible, he’s a piece of shit now. As far as I am concerned he’s the Enemy.

* I think it noteworthy: after Murray divorced his Thai wife he married a white woman from solid midwestern stock, apparently of his own hometown. My suggestion: after Murray shook his bout of yellow fever he determined that he didn’t much like asian women that much, despite their legendary sexual charms. Oh, they are quite good for a traipse through a brothel (which is what the entirety of Thailand essentially is for white men), but not something to build a legacy on.

* What good does immigration do for the average person?

If you are a Democrat politician, it is about votes.

If a Republican businessman, you get cheaper labor.

If an immigrant, it’s obvious.

But for anyone else not looking for praise for being so wonderfully tolerant, there is simply no advantage.

So here we are, immigrants being forced on us for the benefit of very few. 98% – the rest of us -get no benefit.

The rest of us will have huge problems with which to deal, high costs, crime, and NO BENEFITS at all.

* Derb isn’t a cuckservative. No cuckservative would have written the article on race that got him booted from NRO — a cuck would have flogged himself for even thinking of it — and you’ll notice he didn’t apologize for it.

But I’m sure he’d freely admit to some cuckservative beliefs in the past. Heck, he’s admitted to being a liberal in the past, such as when he believed that blacks would soon rise to even levels of achievement with whites once they got civil rights and a bit of a boost to get them started. He observed reality and learned from it. One thing I like about Derb is that he’s not too proud to say, “Man, was I wrong back then.”

* The feeling I get about older gentlemanly guys like Murray is that they simply don’t grasp the proportion of the problem. The danger of immigration is entirely a matter of proportion. But people are very bad at applying proportionate thinking to the fate of their nation or culture. So when immigration is at 1% of the population and one defends the fair treatment of foreign immigrants and the vibrancy of the cultural interchange… fine. This absolutely has merit. No culture benefits by being utterly insular. But when immigration slips into the double digits and begins to affect everything about the culture, the livelihood of its citizens, and even the future of the nation as a whole, the old platitudes and bromides just do not apply. And to keep using them only encourages the other side.

* Since jews are for a secure border fence, no black/brown immigration, chemically sterilizing any blacks already in, & a machine gun in every hand, why is that a bad thing? Oh yea they only want that in Israel.

Washington finally united — in hatred for Donald Trump

Charles Hurt writes July 7, 2015:

Finally! A great, unifying figure emerges in American politics to bring the endlessly bickering factions here in Washington back together again.

Not since 9/11 has everyone in Washington rallied in such unison as they do now — vehemently opposed to the presidential campaign of Donald Trump. But unlike 9/11, the sophisticates and kleptocrats in both parties of Washington find themselves wildly out of step with actual American voters.

People in both parties and even those resolutely unaffiliated here in Washington twitch and tremble at the mere mention of the Trump name. Refer to him as “President Trump” or repeatedly reference “the Trump administration,” and these people go into a smoldering tailspin.

Eyes bug out of heads. Professional Republicans denounce him. Conservative commentators mock him and insist he is no part of the Grand Old Party. Professional Democrats abhor him and smear him as a racist boob. Liberal commentators predict that he will destroy the Republican Party.

Truth is, the fact that people here in Washington fear and loathe Mr. Trump so much is final proof that these people here in Washington fear and loathe you; the great unwashed voters of America.

People here in Washington despise voters and think you are stupid and not to be taken seriously. You are rude and vulgar and uneducated.

Take Mr. Trump’s comments about the illegals streaming across the border from Mexico who commit these heinous crimes.

“When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best,” he said in announcing his campaign. “They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists.”

This was not a polite thing to say. But it is absolutely, incontrovertibly true. Just ask the grieving family of Kathryn Steinle out in California. And polls show that American voters in both parties agree with Mr. Trump and desperately want the crisis to be fixed.

But in this ever-lying world of Washington politics, it is wrong to speak the truth if it is shocking or unpleasant. Which, of course, is how this country has gotten into the terrible fix we are in today.

So Mr. Trump is denounced from every corner, branded as a racist and excommunicated by proper politicos of every stripe.

Even the “severely conservative” Republican Mitt Romney got into the game, saying: “I think he made a severe error in saying what he did about Mexican-Americans.”

Whoaaaaah, Nelly! Who said anything about legal “Mexican-Americans?” Nobody is talking about people of Mexican extraction who are living and working legally in America. This is about illegal Mexicans illegally crossing the border and illegally committing atrocious crimes, in many cases even after they have been deported — repeatedly! It is about a broken border and a broken immigration system.

Americans are not anti-Hispanic or anti-Mexican. They are simply anti-insanity!

Was Donald Trump Too Nice At The Third Debate?

Comments at the Chateau:

* The late Lawrence Auster observed that a major factor behind Mitt Romney’s poor performance was his lack of killer instinct, demonstrated by things such as not pouncing when the opponent exposes a weakness.

* Trump doesn’t really have strong debate or speaking skills. He’s hoping to get elected based on his TV show popularity, plus the single issue of immigration policy. So I’m not very surprised that he seems unprepared for even softball questions like H1B.

I get the feeling he doesn’t really care about being prepared for policy questions. He thinks he can sit down as president and just wing it, day to day, making snap decisions from the gut. Call this confidence, or call it arrogance.

Every other candidate is owned, OWNED, by lobbyists. Someone who can honestly decide what’s best would be a big improvement, even if we wouldn’t always agree with those choices.

* A few thoughts: 1) Folks whom I have talked to LOVED Trump’s debate performance – consider the possibility that he is moving well into the “Comfort Game” zone of the LTR. 2) Some of Trump’s tweets are so consistently obsessively vicious that they feel Eskimo-ish to me, so consider the possibility that one of the Eskimos on his staff, such as Michael Glassner, is sending the tweets. 3) When confronted, Trump backed down on his “Look at her face” criticism of Fiorina, but it WORKED – people realized that they didn’t want to stare at a plastic-surgery-ed albino-salamander-ette of a President for four years. So tying [possibly Sephardic Eskimo?] Rubio with Ashkenazic Eskimo Phuckerberg might be some JYC passive-aggressive tactic of simply getting the accusation out there and PUBLICIZED. 4) Neither Trump nor Carson are getting into details at all – they’re both dealing strictly in psychologicals – and it could be, not just that they know that the American people are sick and tired of wonks, but also that they themselves are disgusted with wonkishness and want nothing to do with it.

* Also, my understanding is that there were signs of physical warmth between Trump and Carson [N0 H0M0] at the debate, which is a huge sea change in their relationship. Early on, Trump was belittling Carson as only having experience in leading NURSES [i.e. herding cats, as opposed to running with a pack of wolves as their Alpha], but the tenor of the relationship seems to have changed now. And my guess is that when Trump learned of the story of 14-yo Ben Carson stabbing a man in a street fight, Trump might have done a 180 in his opinion of Carson [as being a whole lot more than simply a herder of cats], and maybe now Trump is strongly considering Carson as his VP. Trump spending his formative years at New York Military Academy and Carson spending his formative years in knife fights on the streets of Detroit could tie them together emotionally in a very powerful way [AGAIN N0 H0M0] – in that they both spent the 1960s, as teenagers, studying the Fine Art of K!LLING.

* I think Cruz scares both republicans and democrats a lot more than TRUMP because he is a very smart ideologue who will burn everything down in accordance with his view and his view only while TRUMP is a clever pragmatist who will still do some deals to get things done. The former is a non starter for everyone, the latter at least they have some hope they can hang on to something.

* Cruz is playing it smart. He knows he’s not getting dick in the way of favors from the establishment, so he’s rolling the dice with voters as a renegade candidate, and by not attacking Trump he could end up with a cabinet seat or good favor with a Trump administration.

Cruz has an elfish face and a bit of an annoying voice which will definitely hurt his electability, but he is definitely a very smart guy and if it somehow ends up Trump vs. Cruz for the nomination it is a huge blow to the GOP establishment cucks and a win for all of us.

* I really like Cruz. If he had more charisma, he would be my No. 1. He has solid ideas, and solid conviction, with latter being something very few in Congress (or politics in general) have these days. Also, to my knowledge, he is not surrounded by Eskimos, and has a beautiful family.

I think that Trump needs to freshen his message a bit. He is beginning to sound like an old record repeating the same things over and over, such as “We don’t win any more….”, “Nabisco is moving to Mexico….”, etc. He needs to solidly learn a new area each time he makes a major speech or debate, and hammer it home with conviction. Still, Trump 2016.

* He has done business with Jews and hired Jews. Now he is against immigration, which is the number one issue for Big Jewry. He also opposes much of the neocon agenda in the Middle East, which is the second issue for Big Jewry. Which is why the media Jews hate him and have attacked him for 130 days now.

* It is a real possibility that Hillary will win. It is also very possible that she won’t. No one can claim to know for sure at this point.

Yes, she has liberal Whites and she has non-Whites. But as Steve Sailer has shown, merely a few more percentage points of Whites deciding to vote GOP on election day would mean the GOP candidate wins in a landslide. This is called the Steve Sailer Strategy. Mitt Romney would have won handily had he been able to make just a few more percent of Whites leave home and go to the voting station. Remember how many just didn’t vote.

I have always said that the recipe for defeating the establishment is to be a coalition candidate for Whites: against immigration, but moderate on everything else except crime. Immigration is what really matters anyway, everything else can be solved later.

* Trump’s platform will build a formidable white coalition of voters not seen in ages. Tough on crime and immigration, no need to go all Ayn Rand on “small government” and free trade and tax cuts.

Every other issue is reversible and repairable. Immigration is not*, it is irreversible.

*Unless we deport the millions of children of foreigners who are born on US soil, which would require no less than AH in the White House.

* I almost clapped when I watched a video clip of Cruz’s attack on the moderators’ questions, and I don’t have any particular fondness for him. Rather than take the bait (and fail the shit test), he threw it right back at the moderator and brought the discussion into his own frame, offering a flash of alpha that would otherwise serve him well if he were like that the whole time.

One wonders if he was inspired by Trump’s mockery of Megyn Kelly’s questioning and realized he too could bring the conversation into his own frame.

This an area where Trump might have also impacted the presidential race. In 2012, the candidates entertained the stupidest questions. Now, they might actually call it stupid and mock the moderator for asking it (to the applause of the crowd).

In other words, moderators don’t always necessarily establish the frame anymore; now the candidates can establish the frame if they’re willing, irrespective of the question asked. The same way a man should with a woman.

* Watched a trump speech from Iowa this morning. I don’t really think he’s any different from the other political figurehead puppet masters, but The man is a master of seduction.

He worked the crowd, hard. Called young men handsome and young women lovely. Reframed his lack of knowledge on specific issues as “not playing all his cards” and “hitting the enemy where they least expect it”. Used powerful, simple language.

The dude is a public speaking genius. He had me fascinated. Even the sound of his voice was soothing. Yes, Donald, make me a real and take me to the promised land.

* Trump’s business success is based on making the correct decisions on the big issues, and then delegating the implementation to well chosen subordinates.

In modern politics, that is not enough. The boss needs to master the important details, and he needs to be able to eloquently defend the plan. Until yesterday, had he even read his own plan?

I admit, he’s put his peculiar talents to good use so far in this campaign. He correctly determined that immigration was the most important issue of our time, and he recruited Jeff Sessions to craft a detailed plan. These two wise decisions advanced him from 9th place in the polls to a commanding double-digit front-runner position. Ever aside from immigration, he has shown an uncanny ability to identify the most important issues and make the correct decisions: campaign finance, political correctness, relations with Russia, trade, taxes – (although he’s struggled on taxes, there being no equivalent to Jeff Sessions and Numbers USA ready to craft the details of the populist tax system he instinctively favors. When Norquist, Kudlow and the Wall Street Journal praise your attempt at populism, you know you’ve failed)

He needs to understand, everything he’s done in life up till now is child’s play compared to the task before him. Amnesty and increased legal immigration could destroy America. A war with Syria/Iran/Russia and a continuation of the “refugee” invasion of Western Europe could destroy European Christian civilization. President Clinton/Rubio would be a catastrophe.

If Trump rises to the occasion, however, he could be the greatest American president. Indeed, he could be one of the greatest leaders in the history of European civilization, on par with Themistocles and Urban II. Or he could be a cartoonish footnote in the history of a vanished civilization.

The Double Standard On Sex

From the Chateau:

* I had to explain last night to a group of men the “double standard” of sexuality. They wondered why a man is championed for multiple sexual partners, but a woman is chastised for it.

I told them this “double standard” is because women are the gatekeepers of sex. Men are visual and a man will walk into a room and pick out which women he wants to have sex with simply based on how they look. Women are not nearly as visual, and when she walks into a room she may find a man visually appealing, but will not have sex with him simply based on his looks. She needs to have an attachment beyond the physical. Because of this, when a man approaches a woman and says “let’s have sex,” she will say “no” a vast majority of the time. End of story. When a woman approaches a man and says “let’s have sex,” he will likely oblige immediately a vast majority of the time.

* I always liked how it was phrased in City Slickers: “Women need a reason to have sex. Men just need a place”

The Reason Women Initiate 70% Of Divorces

From the Chateau: The divorce rate and the female fertility rate, if superimposed, are practically IDENTICAL. Divorce is, to a great degree, a function of a woman’s sexual desirability and her options in the sexual market. The more romantic attention from desirable men a young wife can command, the more unstable her marriage.

If stable marriages are a noble societal goal, then encouraging later marriages would work to lower the divorce rate. But, this strategy also works to lower the marital fertility rate, as older mothers have fewer children than younger mothers. Plus, beta males with rising SMV (sexual market value) don’t much like marrying road worn and put away hard women in their 30s, and they won’t if they don’t have to.

A better social strategy would be to instruct young men in the ways of seducing women — both premaritally and maritally — so that they can better tame and redirect their young wives’ hypergamous compulsions to themselves and away from alpha male interlopers. Still another possibility is pairing off younger wives with older husbands, for a balanced SMV match. Or, removing the disincentives to stay married that have become part of divorce and family laws.

(FYI, women will always receive the bulk of child support, and child custody, because women are naturally disposed to the task of child-rearing in a way that men aren’t. Most men don’t much like the drudgery of child-raising, but for that minority of ex-husbands and fathers who crave the joys of being a full-time dad, the family court system should be reformed to better sympathize with their needs.)

NYT: Where Are Black Children Safe?

Comments at NYTimes.com:

* They are safest living in communities where there are very few other black youth.

* Where are black children’s manners? This young woman was disobeying her teacher and then refusing to cooperate with a police officer and—there are indications—was even hitting him. Did he overreact? Yes. Should he be a cop? No. But was the young woman free of any blame? No! In most of these sensationalized stories the so-called victim’s behavior and lack of respect for authority is what sets the events in motion.

* Did the officer act inappropriately? Yes, he did. He has lost his job and may face criminal charges for his actions.

Does the fact that the girl who is involved in the case is black and has a complex story that includes being in foster care mean that she should not be held to the same standard of behavior as her classmates? No, it does not.

Rules in school are “expressly designed to subjugate” ALL of the students, who are held to a “standard of absolute obedience” in that environment. I know defiant teenagers and I know cops. That is a pairing that will consistently lead to violence, irrespective of the color of their respective skin unless the police officer has been specifically taught to deal with the situation.

Her defiance — not her black skin — was what precipitated the extreme over-reaction from the school safety officer. That does not excuse his behavior, which was inexcusable. But if we turn this into a bias incident, we run the risk of missing what it really was and losing the opportunity to ensure that everyone from teachers to “safety officers” are better trained to deal with teenage defiance.

* Once again another police & black incident resulting from said black person refusing to obey a police officers instruction. You can also put this one in the “not only ignored but took a swing at the cop as well” column to boot.
All these Oh-the-racism! articles… you do realize that EVERY SINGLE ONE of the ‘incidents’ you cite BECAME incidents because the black “victim”(criminal?) involved ignored the police officer involved and/or attacked him. Every single one. That’s the problem. Don’t disobey/run from/attack/resist police and none of these incidents would have EVER occurred. Problem is on your end Roxane.

* It’s sad to say, but black children, for the most part, are not safe because they have to live right in the middle of a black community, where children born to unmarried folk comprise about 80% of the number. Where so many kids have to grow up without a father, often raised by an unfortunate maternal grandmother, their sense of discipline won’t be too great, and the street gangs are a result. We should feel nothing but sympathy for these black children, and it’s strange that our federal government doesn’t try to do something about this.

* The answer is that they’re safe where they obey the rules.

* Well we should measure progress in even the smallest steps: Michael Brown evidently has fallen off the list of black bodies worthy of complaint. She looked abused and she’s black. Brown was black and is dead and after much hoopla I guess it has been decided that those are not related facts. Don’t terrorize little girls is sound policy, but deciding it is because of her black body has no substantiation in this story. It reminds me of the riots in Cincinnati in 2001: after the curfew was announced complaints came in that arrests of black people were higher than white people, so the police were ordered to go to peaceful neighborhoods and find white people to arrest, which they did. So how long is going to be until South Carolina is under DOJ orders to make sure that suspensions and expulsions of white and others get more in line with the number of students?

* It seems everyone commenting agrees: the officer was wrong to use such force.

This beg a question or two:

Why do we as a society believe that an arrest by the authorities should be a pleasant and non-violent act? It rarely is, even under the most accommodating circumstances.

Also, how does one FORCE someone to comply (physically) who refuses to, once a situation escalates to that level. These are fair questions in light of the commentary here along with the news coverage this story has received.

Separately, the entire premise of this editorial is beneath publication by the Times. There is surely a place for this rhetoric on some blog, somewhere on the web.

* Dear Ms. Gray,
In response to your statement that Black children are not allowed to be children, it seems more accurate to say that black children have no respect for authority or rules of civil behavior. What happened in the classroom in South Carolina was horrendous and unacceptable. However, that a student refused to put away her cell phone speaks to an on-going problem of people not responding to authority in an acceptable manner. People that I know were taught at an early age to obey rules and that disobeying rules results in consequences. For instance when the teacher says put away cell phones and electronic devices, that means put away cell phones and electronic devices. When the police say, “Stop.” That means stop. When someone does not stop when the police say to stop, then the expectation is that one will be shot or detained in some unpleasant manner. We are taught to stop. When the teacher says to put away electronic devices or stop talking in class, or pay attention, or stop disrupting class, the expectation is to do what the teacher asks. Why do some people refuse to do what they are supposed to do in a civil society. Why have any children not learned to behave themselves in class and in public (or at home). Whose responsibility is it to teach children (and adults) to follow instructions, especially when the instructions make sense, like stop when the police say stop and put away cell phones in class. It’s a no brainer.

* Teacher asks student to give up cell phone be used AGAINST THE RULES during class. Student says no. Teacher orders student to leave class. Student says no. Administrator is called in and asks student to leave class. Student says no. SRO is called in and orders student to leave class. Again, student refuses. Violent incident ensues resulting in loss not by student but SRO. It is not about a cell phone. It is about the refusal of yet another black to follow rules and orders by authorities. Black attitudes are mirrored in the words of the Baltimore mayor who gave rioters “room to destroy” during the looting period after a drug dealer died. Either live in our civilized society under civilized rules and laws or pay the penalty. White, black, green or blue is irrelevant. Follow the rules and no one will bother you. Rule number one: do what a police officer tells you to do. Brown, Garner, Gray etc. would all be alive if they followed orders at the beginning of their interactions with police. Fight the police and you will lose every time!

* “Why didn’t she comply with white authority? The question should be “Why didn’t she comply with black authority?” The video shows the only adult in the classroom besides the police officer is a black man, who is either the schoolteacher or the principal who the teacher called to the classroom. for all we know both the teacher and the principal are black. They, not the police officer, decided to eject the student from the classroom. The police officer was merely doing their bidding.

* When I went to school, merely “being passive” after a teacher or principle told us to do something wasn’t tolerated. It’s not “what has happened to schools,” it’s “what has happened to families who don’t teach their children how to behave”.

* Color is irrelevant when a student refuses to obey school authority; I know a number of white students who have been forcibly restrained for this reason, and I’m tired of the race card when a black student has misbehaved and is justifiably disciplined (I do not approve of beatings by authorities, but I know restraint is sometimes required to keep order). From what I could see of this video, and from news reports, this black student repeatedly disobeyed the teacher and was disrupting the class. She created, perhaps intentionally, her own situation and her whining about it is inappropriate, as are the bleeding hearts comments in sympathy with her. Tough love, folks, not enabling, please.

* My daughter teaches in an almost all black school in DC. Truancy is about 50%. Students who have to take a test that takes more than a single page to answer complain about their rights being violated. One student in an all-black class accused her of discriminating against him because had dreadlocks. There are virtually no consequences for disruptive behavior.

When there are no consequences you get more disruption. These kids have been taught from kindergarten they are victims and they will not face any responsibility for their action.

* Let’s start with where black children aren’t safe. Black children are not safe in run down urban neighborhoods where they get caught in the cross fire of mostly black-on-black crime.

Could white America do a better job of investing in black lives, black neighborhoods and black potential? Of course. But what rational person is going to invest in a people that has torn itself apart with drugs, sex and violence?

The color of ones skin does not determine who a person is or who a person becomes, the environment they grow up in does. The environment that most black children grow up in encourages disrespect for authority, pushes an ‘I’m a victim’ mentality and doesn’t give black kids an opportunity to grow up in a good, strong family.

Get your act together and start being civilized. This isn’t white America trying to force its values on you, its common sense. Don’t let your rebelliousness and grievances stop you from doing whats right just to spite authority.

* It is an apparently irresistible impulse among some Americans to ascribe any unhappy encounter between a white person and a black person to racism.

The sheriff seems to be the one person in this whole chain of events to have gotten it right. The young woman’s refusal to leave the classroom after having been formally ejected by school officials amounted to trespass and directly escalated the situation to one necessitating physical extraction. Her resistance to physical extraction resulted in a struggle which overturned her chair. Only at this point did the deputy act unprofessionally, by throwing her across the floor.

For his single wrongful act in an otherwise lawful detention the deputy has been fired. Meanwhile, the troublesome teen is now lawyered up and accumulating race-baiting supporters like a cheap suit picks up lint.

Here’s a thought: how about we grow up, and maybe thereby help our kids to do likewise. The over-entitled brat at the center of this episode is not Rosa Parks, and this will not be a footnote, much less a chapter, in any honest history of civil rights in America. Roxane Gay could have written a much longer piece about this episode, and she still would not have been able to make it into something it is not.

* Roxane Gay continues to infantilize Blacks.
Because this 16 year old girl has the emotional maturity of a temper tantrum throwing 2 year old, she should be allowed to refuse to compy with the teacher’s order to put her phone away. She should be allowed to not comply with being told to leave the class twice.
Why? Because she is Black.
Ms Gay enables childish behavior over learning adult coping skills.

* People of all races can enhance their safety with a relatively simple formula:
1. Stay within the law, avoid risky behavior.
2. Avoid situations where you even APPEAR to be outside the rules extant
3. Be respectful to authority figures at all times, even when you disagree with them.
4. Do not fraternize with those who take delight in rebellion, or acting outside the law/rules extant.
5. Avoid travel except when necessary.
6. If you have nothing kind, or productive to say, say nothing.

There you have it, safety in a nutshell. Of course, I’m just an old fuddy-duddy.

* If black children are allowed to violate rules and defy authority, because they are given a special victim privileged status by our nation’s 1% media elites (who do not have to live or go to school with them) – then who will be safe from the violent behavior of these black 12 – 18 year old big enough to maim/kill others “children”? Certainly as the murder and other violent victim statistics indicate, the other 99% of law abiding black children and adults will not be safe from being shot or beaten by this criminal few that this author seems to think should be able to “be children” run wild and abuse everyone around them, because why …. they are black? What everyone seems to forget is how glad most of us were when a teacher would discipline of throw a criminal in the making out of a class so the rest of us could get back to learning something. Particularly since that “child” was often the “bully” that intimidated and beat up so many of our friends … that by the way the politically correct are supposed to be so very concerned about reigning in and stopping now a days. Pundits need to make up their minds! If they want minority children to have any chance of advancing themselves the bullies and future criminals are going to have to be punished until they obey, or be removed for the safety of the other children. Now of course if our ‘oh so liberal media don’t really care if the poor & minorities get a good education they can continue with this self pitying narrative.

* If a white kid is disrupting my daughter’s class, I am all for a police officer using force to remove him or her from the class.
If an asian kid is disrupting my daughter’s class, I am all for a police officer using force to remove him or her from the class.
If a black kid is disrupting my daughter’s class, I am all for a police officer using force to remove him or her from the class.
I care about the kids who want to learn. I do not care about the kids who want to impose their behavorial issues onto other students & hard working teachers. Stay home if you don’t want to learn.

* What the writer fails to mention is that there are reports that other students in the classroom say the student was disrupting them and their educational process. She was was busy texting, which is not allowed in class.
Whatever the case, we do know that she was violating the rules and not cooperating. That much is known.
We must ask: what else can the teacher do? If the student is disciplined or dismissed, officials will be called “racist.” If nothing is done, everyone suffers and the school and staff is told it isn’t doing its job.
Is it any wonder that responsible parents of children of all colors — white, black, Asian and Hispanic — who can afford to do so flee schools in which there are constant discipline problems? As a parent, I would quickly yank my kids of such a school and move far, far away.
Another question could be why is she, like so many of her black peers, in foster care? Where are the parents? Where, especially, are the fathers? Some 70 percent of black children today are born to a single mother.
Why is this not a problem among the Asian community? They certainly aren’t white. If there was a basis against non-whites, wouldn’t Asians be the “target,” too?
The key, of course, is intact families vs. non-intact families.
Until people such as Ms. Gay start tackling the problem of the lack of a black family structure, she has little ground to base her complaints on.

* The disrespect and misbehavior of many students today make it impossible to teach. I noticed 2 things in the video; the teacher who called the police officer is Black, and the other students were not upset at the police officer coming in. Apparently, this is business as usual at the school. My experience in the public schools showed me that 60-80% of students are in school only to pal around with their friends, and show off their defiance of the teachers. They flatly resist any attempt to teach them anything, passively or actively, and expect the kind of coddling that is appropriate only to toddlers.

* “Where Are Black Children Safe?”

In homes where their parents provide a safe, stable environment?

Whatever the skin color or ethnicity…start with that, eh?

* I try to keep my children safe. I try to practice positive parenting in the home. My wife and I eat dinner with our children almost every night. We closely monitor their exposure to television and screen time. They do not watch professional wrestling. We check their homework, meet with their teachers and go to museums. I remind my children to obey authority figures, even if they disagree with them. My children are taught to respect teachers, police officers, and bus drivers.

My child would have been safe in that situation because he would not have taken his phone out in class.

My child would have been safe because he would not have been playing with a realistic looking toy gun.

My child would have been safe because he would not have been selling loose cigarettes on street corners.

My child would have been safe because he would not have shoplifted from a store.

My child would have been safe because he would not have been walking the streets in the middle of the afternoon on a school day trying to rob cigar stores.

We can teach our children to act in a way that males them safe.

* There are three videos of the Spring Valley High School incident. All the videos clearly show that the officer did not apply force because the student was black, disrespectful, or disruptive. What would have been a simple arrest turns into a wrestling match because of her physical actions, not her race or attitude. The student desk in the video in a “combo desk” with the desktop attached to the seat. The desk design is what made it difficult for the officer to lift the student out of her seat. Had the desk been detached from the seat, there would have been no viral video and no controversy. One video shows that, as the officer attempts to lift her from her seat, she swings at him multiple times, trying to punch in the face, but ending up punching him in the chest. Rather than going limp, as protestors are taught to do in peaceful protests, she bucks and braces her legs against the bottom of the desk top. It is her violent bucking and twisting—not the officer—that upends the desk. He drags her across the floor only to loosen her grip on the desk. The videos show that he never struck her—even though he was being punched—and that he never applied a chokehold. The widespread media lie that the officer “tossed,” “threw” or “pitched” the student across the room is absurd. The officer is powerfully built, but he is not superhuman. The only violence in the videos is the direct result of the student’s physical actions, not her race or demeanor.

NYT: ‘Redlining’ Home Loan Discrimination Re-emerges as a Concern for Regulators

Comments at NYTimes.com:

* The Democrats’ obsession with continuing to capture black votes led directly to the “sub-prime mortgage” meltdown. Give loans for those who cannot afford to repay them (ditto with Obama’s takeover of student loans, now over $1,200,000,000,000 with 20% delinquency!). That makes no economic sense but mucho political sense. Elect Democrats and kill the economy worked in 2007-2008 and will work now.

* Media: “Bad banks are not lending to minorities!”
Banks: “OK, we’ll start lending more.”
Media: “Bad banks pushing loans to minorities, saddling them with debt!”
Banks: “OK, we’ll be lending less.”

Rinse, repeat.

* I think the issue with the media today is that it firmly believes cultural groups act the same, behave the same etc on average. That’s just not true. I don’t know if the reporters aren’t coming across that in the personal life or their reporting forays simply don’t uncover them but often times I read articles in the NYT and I’m left wondering what country or place are they describing?

It’s well known in underwriting circles that Blacks on average have worse credit and financial profiles. Heck this paper goes on daily about this inequality or that one involving blacks. Do you want banks to make loans to people that have are likely to pay back the loans or you just want them to make them on the basis of race?

* Hmmm, didn’t the banks in the mid 2000s lend to borrowers who lied about their incomes to qualify for a mortgage after the banks came under pressure from Democrats in Congress to extend credit to low-income people? From what I understand didn’t this help precipitate the Great recession. Now Congress is back forcing banks to lend to people who have no ability to afford any type of mortgage. As Yogi said, Deja Vu All Over Again.

* I am quite liberal, aware of widespread racial discrimination throughout our society and opposed to it. However, what this article describes is or could be a simple consequence of (1) geographic segregation by race, combined with (2) income disparities by race. When neighborhoods are predominantly populated by low-income minorities living in low-value properties, lending in those areas becomes economically unprofitable. A bank is a for-profit institution, and cannot be forced or expected to lend where it does not expect a profit.
The only viable solution is to break up geographic segregation by race, and help people who live in those neighborhoods move to better ones. This, BTW, is also the only proven solution that reduces the school achievement gap, and therefore lifts people out of poverty in the longer term.
There is no point in treating the symptoms without treating the cause.
Our society as a whole has failed to address the profound race-based, race-driven discrimination that continues in so many forms. This is the work ahead of us, not beating up on private actors whose mandate is profit, not social justice. Congress (acting on our behalf) has the mandate to create “a more perfect union” in practice, not just on paper.

* And at the other end of the lending spectrum, you have cities like LA and Miami suing lenders, such as BofA, Chase and Wells Fargo, for having the temerity to lend in poorer neighborhoods. And then when the economy went bust, those neighborhoods and cities allegedly suffered blight, lower tax revenues, and other harms due to defaults and foreclosures. So the banks are generally screwed no matter where or if they lend.

* For the past seven years, the administration and its progressive friends have been screaming at banks to reduce their risks, to take less risk. The venerated Elizabeth Warren and the Dodd – Frank law have been forcing banks to reduce their risks, make fewer sub-prime loans and to stop risking money on poor credits. So is it any surprise when banks do exactly what President Obama, Elizabeth Warren and other progressives have been demanding? Oh, they may never admit that they intended to reduce lending to minority borrowers, but that is the effect of their demands.

* Banks restrict lending to certain groups because they like to be paid back. There is no other logical explanation.

* I don’t feel comfortable with the government forcing companies to open branches and advertise where they see fit. I would assume that another bank would see an opportunity and try to make money in an underserved market. Just the thought of the government micromanaging any market seems odd.

* If there are so many profitable minority mortgages out there then why doesn’t a liberal like George Soros start a bank and scoop up all of this profitable business?

It would be a mitzva if Jenna Jameson would go around Orthodox Judaism giving classes to women-only in husband pleasing

Think about how many marriages would be saved if Jenna gave classes to women only on how to make love to your husband like a porn star!

I’ve had a wide and varied dating life. I’ve dated actresses from Jenna’s genre and I’ve dated civilians and each had things to teach to the other.

I probably would have married by now if each group had more of the attributes of the other group.
