America Has Gone Mad

From JustNotSaid: The US Department Education’s Office of Civil Rights has ordered the Palatine Illinois Township School District to allow a boy who identified as a girl to shower with the girls. Even after the Illinois school district relented and said it would be okay, but that the student should stay in a curtained off part of the girl’s locker room, the Justice Department called this discrimination, and insisted he be allowed to shower in the communal area.

Strangely, this was all done in the name of Title IX, which was formulated to prevent discrimination against girls.

Is this fair to the girls?

Men who put cameras in women’s locker rooms get sent to jail. But, if they want to be there themselves, that’s evidently okay.

For decades now we’ve had the feminists tell us that men who stared at (clothed) women the wrong way are guilty of sexual harassment. That men who comment about women’s looks are guilty of the same. And generally, that men who make women uncomfortable in any way are pigs.

But now the Obama administration — which has done its best to promote the lie that one in five college women is sexually assaulted — is forcing girls to parade around naked in front of a biological male.

I can’t wait for the feminists to weigh in on this controversy.

What is to prevent a heterosexual guy from growing his hair long, claiming to identify with girls, and taking advantage of this policy? What would the girls have to say about this?

“I feel really uncomfortable with Mike, or Michelle as we’re supposed to call him, staring at us all the time. I just put my clothes on as fast as I can.”

“The thing is, if he says he’s a girl, why does he have an erection, or at least half an erection, bobbing around all the time?”

“I was sort of creeped out when Michelle said we should get together for some hot girl on girl action sometime.”

“Michelle spends forever in there changing. He’s always taking his time tying and then ‘accidentally’ untying his shoelaces while looking up at our crotches.”

“Why is he always offering to wash my back for me? I’ve never needed anyone to do that.”

I Hope The Next President Is As Good As Obama

Comment: We’re finally mostly out of Iraq and getting there in Afghanistan, and we didn’t get into a new war in Syria (against Russia) like the Republicans wanted. We have relations again with Iran and Cuba. There are no new nuclear powers and no new effective terrorist networks aimed at the West. Latin America is as democratic as it’s ever been and mostly prosperous. China and the far East are in good economic condition and mutually interdependent trade continues to make war unlikely, including both among themselves and with us. The Ukraine and Russia thing is a mess but we kept our own feet out of the fire in the end. Illegal immigration has slowed: the same estimates of 12-20 MM illegals prevail as did eight years ago.

Back home, unemployment is down and the housing bubble has somewhat liquidated. Inflation is under control and the economy is growing again, though slowly.

That’s pretty good, not a rolling catastrophe.

I’d hope the next president does as well as Obama but I suspect that’s hoping for too much.

* Obama has probably kept the US out of a wider war in the Middle East, and arguably war with either Russia or China. He has given the neocons just enough to have some fun, but been able to take the ball away at the right moments. Look at who his opponents were in the Democratic primaries and the general election.

* The ID Channel had an episode on it a few nights ago on their “Killer Instinct” show. Another oddity was the main killer actually was executed.

The perps drove the car around with the 84-year old white lady bound and gagged in the trunk of the car. They went to their neighborhood and showed a dozen or so ordinary black folks what they had in their trunk. None of them (people Obama, Hillary, Rand Paul, etc would consider salt of the earth African Americans) saw anything wrong with it or asked them to let the lady go, much less contact the police.

* Instead of focusing on the cities where the murder rate went up, I would like to focus on the cities where the murder rate went down. What made Boston decrease its murder rate? Was it underreporting? Or people deciding to behave better? Or was it change in demographics?

My understanding is that the following groups are less likely to commit homicide than the national average:

1. SWPLs
2. Jews
3. Asians
4. White women
5. Young children
6. The elderly

Did Boston experience growth in population in low crime demographics? Did it experience decrease in population of the high crime demographics?

* I don’t understand the far right’s issue with #BlackLivesMatter. They are calling for a de facto return to Jim Crow-era policing tactics, and if they succeed in getting their agenda passed, the result will be increased homicides and violent crimes on minorities in predominantly minority neighborhoods. Probably won’t help property values either, destroying what little wealth in real estate people might have in these places. Just think, if you support #BlackLivesMatter, you can join in the fight against racism while at the same time supporting policies that have a disparate impact on law-abiding minority populations viz. increased crime victimization and murder. It’s like joining an anti-racist chapter of the Klan!

* Has anyone ever corrected those rates for “availability”? Whites do their best not to live around blacks, and so make themselves largely unavailable as murder victims for the black underclass. And whites who can’t afford to move away probably do a much better job of keeping their heads down in those areas.

* Economists Sethi and O’Flaherty pointed out in several papers on the black/white murder gap, small changes in fundamentals can have dramatic changes in murder rates. Fundamentals include policing intensity and methods.

The basic gist is that expectations of violence increases the incentive to act violent first. A simple point that when you bring to the data can have quite dramatic consequences.

* Trump’s stand on law-and-order and more policing in high-crime neighborhoods will play well to the great majority of older, law-abiding residents who are trapped in these inner city areas.

Broken Window Economics

Comment: Just as if I come to your house and take a dump on your floor, that causes growth because you will hire an environmental waste company to come clean the mess. The propagandist admits this when he says the “growth” comes from government spending. So it’s broken windows, redistributionist, and inflationary to the extent the government prints the money rather than confiscating it. But why allow reality to intrude into an otherwise lovely genocide?

* These figures that a particular wave of refugees will be 1% or 2% of a population grossly understate the true impact on the country because the refugees are overwhelmingly young men.

Let’s take Germany as an example. Assume that 800,000 refugees will enter in 2016. With a population of 80 million, the refugees would comprise 1% of the population. However, the refugees’ gender and ages are not spread evenly. Let’s ball park that 600,000 of the refugees are men between the ages of 18 and 33.

Now, let’s ball park the current number of German men between 18 and 33. Well, men make up about half of Germany’s population, so 40 million. Let’s say that the average lifespan is 75 years (of course that means half of German men die earlier but let’s just use 75), so 40 million divided by 75 is ~500,000. So, between the ages of 18 and 33, you’d have ~7.5 million German men (500k X 15). Therefore, if you add the 600k of refugee men to the 7.5 million German men, you’d get 8.1 million. The 600k would comprise 7.4% of that 8.1 million.

Given that the refugee men will likely send for wives and have children at least on pace with the Germans, that 7.4% figure will eventually be true for the entire population.

In one year, Germany will increase its long-term Muslim/non-European population from its current ~6% to 13.5%. In. One. Year. (Actually, if we’re talking about long-term population, that 6% figure is likely too low. I’d be shocked if the percent of births in Germany to Muslim/non-Europeans isn’t much higher.)

A couple of years of that level of immigration plus a higher birthrate for non-Germans would spell the end of Germany as we know it in a generation or two. What’s going on in Europe is astonishing. Has no one done the simple math on the situation?

* Hundreds of thousands of German women will have children with the immigrants and a similar number of ethnic German men will never reproduce because of it. The German Green party thinks it is great.

Paul Gottfried: Jurgen Trittin, who now heads the German Green Party, is already ecstatic that his country is being overwhelmed by Asian Muslim migrants: “Each day Germany is disappearing more and more; and this is a truly wonderful thing!” exults Trittin.

Why America & Germany Can Get Away With Doing Stupid Things

Why does the USA stick its nose in affairs all round the world? Because it can, notes John J. Mearsheimer. The USA is a regional hegemon. It has no fears about its neighbors. So it is free to roam.

Germany also has no fears about its neighbors so it is free to do stupid things like invite in millions of Muslims.

Comment: “Germany is now totally safe with no enemies on its borders, so without external pressure it can go to the opposite extreme from militarism and instead of idealising masculine virtues, go back to the caring and sharing nature worship of its roots. Merkel has acted on this. Unfortunately, and as a German once said, “all higher values devalue themselves”. The outlook of Europeans especially in north Europe is oh-so-advanced (environmentalism, animal welfare, special Olympics) and openness to immigration, which creates a vulnerability. It is not exactly a disparity in weapon technology it is a unilateral moral disarmament or disparity in outlook, but the effect is the same. They can kiss their current values goodbye.”

Hollywood’s Racial Programming

Comments to Steve Sailer:

* I already receive this conditioning on a routine basis: every time I see a commercial or program on TV, everytime I see a movie made after 1990, or look in a trade publication, I see images of black scientists, mathematicians, doctors, computer programmers, judges, generals, all of them paragons of virtue and probity – why I’ve even seen a black God. I also see images of women who are super-competent engineers or battle-hardened warriors, all of them steely-eyed and coldly rational. By the same token, I see images of bumbling incompetent white men who can barely tie their shoe-laces.

And yet, this conditioning seems to have the opposite effect as that found in this study. This conditioning, which we all receive on a daily basis, seems only to reinforce those bad old biases. Propaganda, when recognized, can often have an effect the opposite of what was intended.

* Get with the program. Prejudices are only bad when held by whites and when those prejudices discourage whites from handing over everything they have to non-whites.

* This appears to be an attempt at amygdala training. The brain’s first response team to visual clues sits right behind the eyes, before being sent upstairs for further review. The early warning system. Fight or flight, but much more. A woman drives by a church and sees another woman sitting on the steps, crying. So sad, a death in the family. Upon further review, a wedding, tears of joy.

Like a commenter said, therapy might last until your next experience at 10 am. Or maybe you’ll just be dead and problem solved, because, racism.

* We already have a technology that puts the brain to sleep and installs globalist goodthink: It’s called television.

It’s abuse as a mass brainwashing tool began when two “New Yorkers,” Sarnoff and Zworykin, stole it from the western farm boy Farnsworth who invented it.

Everything’s been downhill since then.

* This altruism evolved in high-trust societies where co-operation with people outside your family was essential. Communities were small enough for everyone to know each other, so cheating or freeloading would be impossible. Unfortunately, the instinct lives on in today’s industrial societies with massive welfare systems, and the results are grotesque.

* Some years back Neil Postman wrote a book about the Cyclops in the room called “Entertaining Ourselves to Death” quite a good read about the mind f**k that is television.

I’m old enough to remember a time before TV targeted young people and left us alone. It was a good time to be alive and young compared to today where every evil corporation is targeting kids for a variety of reasons and none of them are good, both on TV and via the internet.

* I noticed that the series ‘Manhattan’ has brought back the black scientist from last year, the one that saved the Manhattan project from going teats up. Completely made up, but does give the program some imagined diversity. It’s hard to suspend one’s ‘powers of disbelief’ when such obvious propaganda is thrown into historical dramas, fictionalized though they be.

Feminization of America Is Bad for the World

Dennis Prager writes: Last week the New York Times published an article, “Sweeping Away Gender-Specific Toys and Labels,” that contained three sentences that explain one of the most important phenomena in American life.

In discussing the increasing move to do away with gender-specific toys – something the New York Times approves of – the article quoted Tania Missad, the “director of global consumer insights” at one of the world’s largest toy manufacturers, Mattel:

“Mattel’s research showed some differences in what girls and boys wanted in their action figures, Ms. Missad said. ‘For boys it’s very much about telling a story of the good guy killing the villain. . . .’ [Girls] would tell us: ‘Why does the good girl have to kill the villain? Can’t they be friends in the end?’”

Very little academic research on sex differences is likely to be as accurate as research conducted by businesses and advertising agencies. The reason is simple: Businesses and advertising agencies have no social or political agenda; their agenda is profit. Their assessments must be accurate or they lose money; and those providing wrong assessments are fired. Academics, on the other hand, have nothing on the line. When they publish studies that purport to show that boys and girls want the same types of toys, they lose nothing for asserting something so patently false. In business there is a very big price paid for believing what is untrue. Among academics, there is no price – certainly not their reputations, because other academics want to believe the same nonsense.

The Mattel research reveals that male nature wants good guys to kill bad guys (of course, in bad societies the definition of “good guy” and “villain” may well be inverted, but that is a values issue, not a male-nature issue); and that female nature wants the good guy and bad guy to “be friends in the end.”

This difference may be the most important of all the sex differences. Indeed, it can actually shape the future of America and of the world.

Of course, there are women who want evil destroyed – the late Margaret Thatcher, for example. And there are men who oppose confronting evil – the men who lead the modern Democratic Party, for example. (One such man is the president of the United States, whose has a feminized view of those who do evil – talk to them, but don’t confront them, label them, or fight them.)

But these exceptions happen in large numbers under two circumstances: when women get married and when men are feminized.

When women get married, they are often influenced by their husbands with regard to political and moral issues, just as married men are influenced by their wives on a whole host of micro issues. As a result, married women are more likely than single women to prefer to fight villains than to befriend them.

Unfortunately, more and more American women are single.

Daily Signal: How Dennis Prager’s Conservative Online University Reaches Millions

REPORT: Radio host Dennis Prager and his business partner Allen Estrin had a big problem on their hands.

It was October, 2013. Several years earlier, the duo—friends for decades—co-founded PragerU, a small digital university for conservatives with a modest audience. Now, a stranger was suing them.

The man, a photographer in Ireland, alleged through a Houston lawyer that PragerU had used one of his photographs in an online educational video without his consent.

Estrin, a former Hollywood screenwriter with little experience navigating the intricacies of digital copyright issues, calls the episode “traumatic.”

“We had a visual style that used photographs, and someone really almost out of nowhere sued us for the use of a photo,” Estrin recalls in an interview with The Daily Signal. “As a result of being sued, we did a lot of investigation into [how you can] use photos on the Internet, and the copyright ramifications of photos, and what to do going forward.”

What Estrin and Prager did was overhaul their entire visual video aesthetic to a streamlined, animation-based model, abandoning four years of work and 80 educational videos.

“And in one of those things that doesn’t happen very much in life but I’m happy to say I’ve experienced, this very traumatic experience was the best thing that could have possibly happened to us,” Estrin says.

“This year we will have more than 50 million views as confirmed by YouTube and Facebook,” Prager says in an email to The Daily Signal, adding that “the largest single demographic of our videos are people under 35 years of age.”

Porn Star Joanna Angel Says Orthodox Parents Accept Her

Porn star Mila Shegol graduated from Harkham Hillel Hebrew Academy. Many Jewish institutions, including Orthodox Jewish day schools, successfully solicit donations from Jewish pornographers.

Pornographer Joseph Shemesh in the San Fernando Valley sent his kids to Orthodox day schools.

Orthodox professionals I know, such as accountants and lawyers, have no problems doing business with pornographers.

Compared to every other group and religion I know, Jews are the most accepting of porn and pornographers and the natural passions in general (for food, money, fame, success, honor, etc).

Most traditional Christians I know are horrified by pornography but few traditional Jews I know exhibit the same horror.

Porn and sexual excess is one of those vices that people with high IQs can often get away with without visible harm while such indulgences often destroy those with a lower IQ.

Nina Hartley told me about a Shabbat dinner that she and her husband Ira Levine had with a Chabad rabbi in Denver who asked them why they weren’t observant. Ira Levine said, “I’m into S-M.” The rabbi thought for a while, stroked his beard, and finally said, “S-M is not forbidden.”

Forward: American porn star Joanna Angel told a British newspaper that her Orthodox Jewish parents New Jersey have been accepting of her career choices.
In an article on how parents of people working in adult entertainment reacted upon learning about their work, Angel, 34, told the Daily Mail that her parents offered business advice and defended her against judgmental relatives.
Angel runs alternative porn website BurningAngel.com, which according to the Daily Mail is “one of the biggest in the alternative adult industry.”
“There were a few distant aunts, uncles and cousins who got angry at my mom and dad for not disowning me, but all it did was make us closer,” Angel told the newspaper, adding, “They were like: ‘Don’t tell us how to raise our daughter!’’”
In an interview last year with Vice, Angel (her original name is Mostov) told of growing up observant and attending Jewish day schools and summer camps. While she is no longer Orthodox, she told Vice she still fasts on Yom Kippur and avoids eating bread during Passover.

Vogue Hails Orthodox Fashion as Fall’s ‘Sexiest Trend’

Forward: The traditional sexy slip dress for Orthodox women is getting a modern, yet still modest, upgrade that’s bringing it out to the streets, and to the top design house runways.
It is almost 2016, after all.
Vogue reports that Rag & Bone have given the slip dress the modest treatment, “by layering it on top of long-sleeve shirts and slim-fitting cigarette pants, complete with a polished leather topper.”
“Don’t be afraid to layer!” says The Frock’s Simi Polonsky, an Australian Orthodox Jew. “Wear a crisp white shirt or a striped or sheer turtleneck underneath.”
Polansky has some other advice for adding a touch of tomboy sass: “You can totally rock it with high-top kicks and a hoodie,” she and The Frock’s other designer, Chaya Chanin, tell Vogue. “And if you are really into ‘man repelling,’ add a cute sports bra on top.”

Which Place Is More Sexist: The Middle East Or Latin America?

Lourdes Garcia-Navarro writes for NPR:

A semi-naked woman in a sequined Carnival costume. A veiled woman with only her eyes showing in a niqab. Two stereotypes of two vastly different regions — Latin America and the Middle East.

On the surface, these two images couldn’t be more diametrically opposed. What could the two have in common, right? What a woman wears — or what she doesn’t wear, in Brazil’s case — is often interpreted as a sign of her emancipation. The veil, for many, is a symbol of female oppression; the right to wear a bikini, one of liberation.

As a woman and a foreigner who lived in Baghdad and Cairo and worked throughout the Middle East for years, I always felt the need to dress modestly and respectfully. Frankly, my recent move back to Latin America was initially a relief. Brazil is the land where less is more — and it was wonderful to put on whatever I wanted.

But underneath the sartorial differences, the Middle East and Latin America’s most famously immodest country both impose their own burdens on women in the way they are treated and perceived.

On a recent balmy afternoon, I was sitting at a seafront kiosk watching Brazil’s carnival coverage on the biggest broadcaster here, GLOBO. Suddenly, a naked woman popped onto the screen during a commercial break. She was wearing nothing. Literally nothing except a smile and some body glitter. Called the “globeleza,” she is the symbol of GLOBO’s festival coverage, and she appears at every commercial break.

Later programming showed a contest where women from various Samba schools — all of them black — were judged on their dancing and appearance by a panel that was all white. They all had their measurements read out for the crowd. But when one woman said she was studying at one of Brazil’s premier petrochemical departments to eventually work in the oil and gas industry, the male judge smirked in surprise.

And that’s the thing about Brazil: It has a female president, and women are well-represented in the work force. This isn’t Saudi Arabia, where women cannot drive, or Afghanistan under the Taliban, where women could not study.

And yet it is one of the most dangerous countries to be female in.

Statistics show that about every two hours a woman is murdered in Brazil, a country with the seventh highest rate of violence against women in the world.

This juxtaposition of sex and violence isn’t new, according to Rosana Schwartz, a historian and sociologist at Mackenzie Presbyterian University in Sao Paulo. Brazil imported more slaves than any other country in the Americas, and slavery was only abolished in 1888.

“The female slaves were used as sexual objects to initiate the master’s son’s sexuality or to satisfy him. And the result has been that until today, Brazilian women are seen in a sexist way, in a more sexualized way, because she was used as a sexual object for so long,” Schwartz says.

The legacy still affects women of every class and race here.

The Guardian:

Hyper sexual Carnival atmosphere has a dark side for Rio’s women

This notorious festival encourages the objectification of women

…The ‘sexier’ you look the better; a big butt, generous breasts and flat stomach are practically mandatory – especially for the drum queens who dance in front of the samba bands, keeping them motivated with their dancing and yes, their bodies.

Let’s shoot straight: this is objectification of women in its truest form. Using a woman as a figurehead to keep up the spirits of male troops following behind is simply using her. Complete nudity is acceptable, sometimes desirable. But even the least revealing outfits for this position are as small as thong bikinis.

No doubt dancing and walking with a smile on your face for an hour and a half is hard work, a way to celebrate culture and Carnival, and even perhaps a way of feeling empowered, but all that time the woman is dancing she is seen as an object. Her measurements have to be right, perfect, sometimes even “fixed” and inflated by surgeries. She must be an incarnation of the ideal.

Every year the main broadcasting network in Brazil hosts a popular election to choose the Globeleza – a combination of the word ‘Globo’ (the name of the channel) and ‘beauty’ (beleza). The chosen woman is shown dancing naked during advert breaks until the end of Carnival. This is a long-time tradition, and the fact that it’s endorsed by the most watched channel in the country is worrying.

From early childhood, girls watch this nudity on TV as if it’s the norm, as if it’s the highest form of success.

And as for little Brazilian boys the dream is to become a footballer, the dream for little girls is to become a drum queen or a Globeleza.

This idea that women are objects combined with the free-for-all environment of Carnival can have ugly results. During the weeks of the party there is an increase in sexual violence and hate crimes, according to the Observatory of Racial Discrimination, Violence Against Women and LGBT 2012.

There were 429 reported cases of racism, sexism and homophobia in the 2012 Carnival in Salvador, Bahia – an increase from 2011 when 350 cases were recorded. 153 of 2012’s incidents were violence and abuse towards women, bringing out the thinly veiled misogyny that is deeply entrenched in the Brazilian society.

When men approach women on a normal night out in Brazil, it is typically in a belligerent and sometimes invasive fashion; in Carnival it can be even worse. Men often feel up women as if it’s nothing and kiss them against their will, because they feel they have the right to. Perhaps they consider it a joke, or an expression of their “freedom” but this behaviour can escalate to something far more serious. In 2012, the number of rapes in the state of Rio de Janeiro grew by 24 per cent in comparison to the previous year. From January to November 5,542 rapes were reported, in comparison to 4,467 in 2011.

Though this increase might be explained by more women reporting sexual crimes than before, the figure is nevertheless scary. And if this high number only counts the reported rape, who knows how high the real figure is?

Carnival is meant to be a party for all, but it is also, unfortunately, an opportunity for abuse. There is little education or government action to counter it, and women are treated like objects left and right. Sexual violence is an ugly angle from which to consider the biggest party in the world, but it is also true and should be pointed out every year so that maybe one day the party will be safe for every gender, race and sexual orientation.

“Globo TV, I am not one of your nêgas”: Afro-Brazilian woman reacts to latest TV show that reduces black women to their sexuality

Note from BW of Brazil: Sound the alarm, for there’s another fire brewing in Brazil! Once again, the object scorn is the long time nemesis of the Afro-Brazilian community, the television giant Globo TV network. Here at BW of Brazil, since the beginning, we have given example after example of how the image of black women and black Brazilians in general are minimized, stereotyped and made to look utterly ridiculous for the whole country to see; in fact, as Globo’s reach is international, these consistent spectacles are put on for the WHOLE WORLD to see! Brazil’s extremely Eurocentric, blond obsessed media has always sought to keep black women in the “places” that Brazilian society has traditionally reserved for them: the kitchen or the bedroom. Every year, we see naked brown flesh put on display in the one and only time of year that black women are visible: Carnaval. We’ve seen the horrid black faced portrayals. We saw the contest in which black women competed to dance naked on television. We’ve seen them play the secondary role in near silence even in the kitchen, which is supposedly their domain.

And this is every time they are seen at all.

One study recently showed that Afro-Brazilian women only made up about 4% of the protagonists in Brazilian films. And we also know that Afro-Brazilians in general are rarely ever more than 10% of any cast of Brazil’s decades-long success run with the ever popular novelas (soap operas). We’ve seen stereotypes of black women sexuality used to sell beer and we’ve seen campaigns that have re-enforced the Brazilian racist idea that natural black hair is bad. Well, nothing’s changed. As a matter of fact, the Globo TV network is upping the stakes with a new TV series that plays directly into the national stereotype of the hyper-sexual negra or mulata. In fact, the show is actually called Sexo e as nêgas, which could be translated as something like “sex and the negresses”. This new program which hasn’t even debuted yet is the precise reason that black women called for a more dignified representation in the mass media. The media continues to ignore this demand, so black women are coming out to express their outrage.

Below is short intro to what’s shaping up to becoming a battle; stay tuned as we will continue the developments on this latest slap in the face of the black community!

Hey Globo, I’m not one of your nêgas!

By Laila Oliveira

The feeling of indignation made me reflect on this constant and secular sexualization that is imputed upon us black women; an image that has been sustained for decades by the Brazilian literature, the media and by songs in the cultural industry responsible for the cultural construction of stereotypes in the popular imagination such as the hot negra, the moreninha (little brown girl) of the color of sin or the mulata tipo exportação (mulata of the exportation type). I almost fell backwards to learn the newest work of Globo (TV) art, another blow of the racist media, the production of the series created by Miguel Falabella, Sexo e As Negas (Sex and the Negresses) parodying the famous Sex and the City.

The series still has no release date, and according to the author, the version will take place in Cordovil, in Rio de Janeiro. It will consist of a quartet of carioca (Rio natives) friends composed of a maid, a cook, a worker and a seamstress who will experience dilemmas and obstacles to achieve their true goal which is the conquest of a sexual partner.

R. Venturelli, American Renaissance, November 5, 2015:

For many Americans, Brazil means Rio de Janeiro, Carnival, pretty women, and a mixed-race land of no racial tension. This makes Brazil a potential model for the United States: Immigration from the Third World will enrich us and miscegenation will make us one. In fact, Brazil is a nation of low average intelligence, very high crime rates, an aversion to work, and widespread corruption. It is precisely the multi-racial nightmare we must avoid.

The average IQ in Brazil is 87, which is lower than Mexico’s 88.[1] Fifty percent of college students are said to be functionally illiterate–they cannot understand even a basic newspaper or magazine article.[2] With 50,000 murders a year, Brazil comes close to having the highest murder rate in the world: 25.2 per 100,000. For South Africa, the figure is 31; for the United States, it is five.[3]

The Portuguese word for work (trabalho) used to mean “instrument of torture,” and as soon as they have the means, Brazilians do as little of it as possible. They hire people to put gas in their cars. In restaurants, waiters literally stand at your table to cut slices of pizza and put them on your plate. Maids do dishes, wash clothes, cook, and help children with homework.

Corruption is endemic. A common expression is jeitinho brasileiro or the “little Brazilian way,” which means the deeply rooted tradition of taking advantage of others and breaking the rules. Politicians reflect their society, so huge corruption scandals are almost daily news. Brazil’s racial history explains much of its national character…

It was common for the sons of slave owners to have their sexual initiation with slave women. This may be the origin of the sexual promiscuity common in Brazil, though actual marriage among slave owners was usually with whites.

Youthful escapades produced a mulatto class, which often led to a rise in the mother’s status and sometimes emancipation for the children. Mulattos naturally tried to draw distinctions between themselves and enslaved blacks. At the same time, mulattas were seen as much more sexually available than the few, usually Catholic and conservative European women. This is the origin of the almost cult-like carnival symbol of the sensuous, naked mulatto woman.

After independence from Portugal, the ruling class decided that the country would be better if it were whiter. Upper-class Brazilians were embarrassed by foreign travelers who, noting the huge number of slaves and heavily-mixed free population, described Rio de Janeiro as an African city. However, slavery was a huge obstacle to European immigration. Poor whites could not compete with unpaid slaves, who worked in all types of industries and even as low-ranking police officers.

Brazil’s economy was dependent on slaves, so abolition would cause chaos and anger the slave masters. Emperor Dom Pedro II therefore decided to end slavery slowly. He abolished the slave trade in 1850 and tried to promote European immigration. It was not long thereafter that approximately 10,000 Confederates fled Reconstruction, settling the town of Americana in São Paulo state, where they hold annual celebrations of their Confederate heritage to this day…

The Brazilian Republic continued the racial policies of the Empire, importing large numbers of Europeans to make Brazil whiter and replace black labor. Indentured servants worked for a fixed period before being granted land. At first, most immigrants came from Portugal, Spain, Italy and Germany. Later, a more limited number of Slavs and a considerable number of Japanese arrived.

The demographic transformation was remarkable. According to the 1940 census, 63.47 percent of the population identified as white–up from 38.17 percent in the first census, taken in 1872…

For the first time, there were enough women immigrants to make endogamy common. Immigrants married and lived among themselves, retaining their folkways and languages. There was no dominant culture and therefore no assimilation to a larger whole. Brazil was still a broad geographical area with little cohesion and a weak federal government. States had almost complete autonomy and even imposed tariffs against each other…

European immigrants came in such numbers that the Portuguese elite were quickly outnumbered. They may also have been less competitive than the newcomers because of many generations of inbreeding. This decline explains why there are so few Portuguese surnames in the Brazilian upper class today. Instead, Portuguese names such as “Silva” and “dos Santos” are more common among non-whites and the poor.

This is especially striking in the South, which was sparsely populated, and where the demographic change was almost complete. Many small municipalities in the South still recognize Italian or German as an official language. In the 1940 census, the three states of the South–Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul, and Santa Catarina–respectively had populations that were 86.6, 88.7, and 94.4 percent white…

In 1930, Getúlio Vargas took power in a coup that became known as the 1930 Revolution, and implemented nationalist measures designed to turn Brazil into a unified nation. He wanted to break up ethnic enclaves of European immigrants who hired and married each other, and refused to learn Portuguese.[13] He established ethnic quotas on immigrants to stop the growth of these enclaves, and required that employers ensure that their workforces were at least 60 percent native-born Brazilians. These measures effectively ended the era of mass immigration…

To promote a national identity, Vargas limited the autonomy of the states, ordered all state flags burned, and promoted cultural unification. He forbade the use of languages other than Portuguese in public, banned ethnic clubs and schools, and “Brazilianized” surnames and names of institutions in the hope of forcing Europeans and Japanese to integrate rather than maintain their own communities.

Vargas’s measures were inspired at least in part by the policies of the Axis powers, with which he had good relations.[14] Ironically, his nationalist attempts to unify the country damaged his relations with Italy, Germany and Japan. There were many Hitler Youth chapters in Brazil, as well as Italian clubs that worked to preserve national loyalty, and some members opted to return to Europe rather than integrate.

Vargas continued the eugenic policies of the previous republic and prevented the promotion of Army officers with clear African ancestry. Vargas celebrated such things as Race Day and Fatherland Week, and noted in a radio speech on September 7, 1938, that:

A rapid solution needs to be found for the question of strengthening the race, one that guarantees the cultural and eugenic preparation of the generations to come. . . The celebrations of the Fatherland and the Race must therefore show beyond any doubt our struggle to elevate the cultural and eugenic level of the youth. . . For a united Brazil, for a great Brazil.[15]

There is an interesting anecdote from shortly after President Vargas’s coup d’état. Spanish nobles of the same name asked the Pope to check baptism records to see whether Mr. Vargas was a relation. He asked that the research not be carried out for fear of what might be found in his family tree: “In Brazil we always expose ourselves to the risk of ending up in the jungles [being part Indian] or the kitchen [being part black].”[16]

There was a strong fascist movement called Integralismo, which arose outside of Vargas’s control and promoted the idea of a “Brazilian race.” Its more radical elements argued that genuine Brazilians were a mixture of whites, blacks, and Indians, and that only complete mixture would bring forth the true Brazilian race. The movement did not last long, but it influenced many patriotic Brazilians, and its ideas of mixture remained influential.

Despite Vargas’s racial nationalism, his attempts at imposing cultural unity stopped the flow of European immigrants, and the percentage of whites declined after the 1940 census. As of the 2010 census, only 47.7 percent of the Brazilian population calls itself white.
