NBC Says You Can Watch All Events Live Through Its Sports App

But the app does not work on PCs.

I don’t want to watch on a tablet or iPhone. I want to watch on my big screen computer monitor. I guess I need to get Chromecast.

By the way, because of the Olympics, I started the $25 a month Sling subscription and I am happy with the app. I can watch on my PC and wherever I go. Unfortunately, my Sling subscription does not yet authenticate access to the NBC sports app on my iPad.

Decider reviews the NBC Sports app:

The NBC Sports app on Roku employs the same random organization as the Xfinity channel guide — or least as I remember it from my cable days — with an endless scroll of channels arranged in no particular order. That isn’t a good way to figure out what to watch on TV or what’s happening in the Olympics.

There have been issues with NBC’s programming, too, and most notably with gymnastics. None of the live feeds of the men’s qualifying rounds on Saturday and women’s qualifying rounds on Sunday had audio commentary, and the Daily Dismount recap shows after both were willfully obscure about the outcomes…

The presentation has been a mess, though, and I’m not turning cartwheels about the gymnastics coverage.

The app got terrible reviews and a minute into viewing my 30 minute free without authentication, the picture froze. Somehow the commercials ran fine, but the real event froze. OK, I restarted the app and I am watching the ending of the women’s marathon. Three East African women are leading. Imagine my shock.

I’ve watch many matches of the women’s soccer even though the quality of the play is below that of Under 15 boys.

What happened to girl power? Australia’s national women’s soccer team the Matildas lose 7-0 to an under FIFTEENS boys’ side

Australia’s national women’s soccer team have suffered a devastating defeat in the lead up to the Rio Olympics – going down 7-0 to the Newcastle Jets under-15 boys side.
What is particularly concerning for the Matildas is that despite resting some regulars, they were still able to field experienced international stars including former AFC player of the year Katrina Gorry.
Despite the embarrassing defeat on Wednesday night at Valentine Sports Park in Newcastle, the Australian team will travel to Brazil as one of the gold medal favourites…

Egmond said that the Matildas are often forced to play against boys teams as trying to find quality female opposition can be difficult.
It may not be the first time that the Australian team have suffered a heavy defeat against school boys with claims that they were ‘smashed’ by an under 16 Sydney FC team last year circulating.
The social media reaction to the defeat has been condemning with many claiming that the result is not good enough for a team that is expected to challenge for a medal at the Olympics.

I’m ecstatic that Sling TV has added the NFL Network to my subscription at no extra charge.

Maybe God Has A Better Plan

I bought a PC (HP Envy 700) two years ago and upgraded to Windows 10 and it gave me such trouble — repeated blue screens of death even when I spent about $200 on a premiere tech repair facility nearby and completely reset the computer, wiping all of my files — I had to ship it away to the repair center last May. I will never buy HP again.

Staring into the evening void without a computer at home, I started going to additional 12-step meetings (beyond my first program, which I started in May of 2011) and they’ve transformed my life. From my first meeting in one new program, I started getting a new outlook on my financial life. My therapist noted that my body language changed. My mood changed. My speech changed. I was more confident about solving some of my problems.

So maybe there is something to that notion that God directs our lives. If my computer had not broken down, I would not have gone to these new 12-step programs, even though I had been thinking about going for a couple of years.

The past couple of weeks, the dreaded blue screen of death is back. I’m getting the critical_structure_corruption message (after updating my HDM drivers, a common problem) and when I tried to return my computer to an earlier date, I got the dreaded 0xc00021a error and couldn’t boot up. So then I reset my whole computer, going back to its original settings and disabling all apps. Now it’s working great.

Why Are the Koch Brothers on the Warpath Against Law and Order?

Comments at Steve Sailer:

* It makes perfect sense if you’re as rich as the Kochs. First off their ilk is rich enough to be immune from the predations of the “no collar” criminals. Secondly they are merely looking out for their kind of sociopath – which is rich and wears a expensive suit and loots the little people.

It’s no different than Zuckyberger supporting open borders. He has his massive estate with a platoon of guards along with several others in secret locations around the world from which to operate. If things go belly up it’s just a matter on evacuating on his private plane.

The point is, what appears insane or treasonous to us helots doesn’t appear so for the elite. They simply have the resources to negate it and party on.

Of course there is a downside if the rule of law vanishes. In that case it’s the guy with the guns who makes the rules and gets the gold. IOW there is nothing stopping the head of security from capping his fat, old, degenerate charges and spreading the spoils among the other guards.

* The other angle here is to increase the labor supply. Granted, most cons aren’t going to be suitable workers, but some will be, and with fewer options, they will be willing to work for little money.

Curing the Black Anti-Cop Cultural Disorder

Robert Weissberg writes: Among the many factors that contribute to death is one that is scarcely noticed: a deadly self-conception. The classic example is the person who defines himself as a fearsome, brave warrior anxious to risk everything—including almost certain death—for personal glory. The pursuit of pleasure can also be self-destructive. For example, in the 1970s and 80’s thousands of young gay males came to believe that being authentically gay entailed engaging in promiscuous unprotected anal sex.

Unfortunately, a similar death-inviting self-image currently flourishes among countless young, underclass black males. Central is resisting police authority, energetically fighting back, or at least fleeing if arrested regardless of circumstances. Eric Garner was the classic example. Surely he must have realized the futility of escape since he was surrounded by multiple police officers and even if he did manage to momentarily break free, he would have been quickly apprehended (and the resisting arrest effort would compound his punishment). Did Michael Brown reasonably expect that wrestling with Officer Wilson and shooting him with the policeman’s own gun was a prudent strategy to escape the relatively minor charges of robbery and obstructing traffic? What is the benefit of taunting and mocking police officers when they try to arrest you? In other words, rational calculations in such police encounters cannot justify the risky misbehavior. Rather, a cultural ethos exists, perhaps comparable to WW II Japanese banzai charges where certain death in battle outshined cowardly surrender.

This “resistance” mentality might even be viewed as an anti-law enforcement “lifestyle.” It is reflected in today’s “ghetto look” where youngsters purposely imitate those who’ve been arrested–beltless trousers, untied shoes, and a scowling angry demeanor. Popular tee-shirts now declare “Snitches Get Stiches.” The anti-cop message is ubiquitous in rap and hip-hop music. Twenty-five years ago the group N.W. A. released what became a classic—“Fuck tha Police” and it has created a multi-million dollar musical genre ever sensitive to the latest incident of alleged police brutality. Following Ferguson anti-police songs were released by G-Unit, Public Enemy, the Game among several others. Indeed, some blacks in Ferguson now celebrate Michael Brown as a hero. And, of course, there’s the anti-cop Black Lives Matter—fry them like bacon–Movement ever anxious to portray those killed by resisting arrest saint-like martyrs. Read on.

ADL Criticizes ‘Blue Lives Matter’ Bill That Would Make Police Shootings a Hate Crime

You rarely find Jews in any movement that seeks to enhance the rights of the majority at the expense of minorities but you frequently find Jews in movements that seek to enhance the rights of minorities at the expense of the majority.

Forward: A new bill that would make it a hate crime to attack a police officer in New York State has drawn opposition from the Anti-Defamation League, which drafted the hate crime laws now in place in many states across the country.

According to the ADL, the proposed law would make it harder for prosecutors to make cases against people who attack police. In a statement, the ADL’s New York Regional Director, Evan Bernstein, said that the law would be “harmful.”

The bill, proposed in the New York State Assembly by Ronald Castorina, a Republican representing parts of Staten Island, would be among the first nationwide to protect a profession under hate crime laws, which were created to stiffen penalties for crimes motivated by racial and ethnic bias. A similar bill, also opposed by the ADL, was recently signed into law in Louisiana…

Yet the ADL believes that Castorina’s proposal would backfire.

The ADL has led the development of hate crimes statues across the United States for decades. Forty-three states have adopted hate crime laws based on or similar to model legislation that the ADL drafted in 1983.

In a June blog post arguing against the new Louisiana Blue Lives Matter bill, the ADL noted that the inherent weaknesses of hate crime laws would make hate crime cases involving police more difficult to prosecute. Hate crime laws, the group wrote, would require that the prosecutors prove that the defendant attacked a police officer because they were a police officer. Otherwise, the hate crime charges won’t stick.

“That additional intent requirement, which is not included in existing laws covering attacks on police officers, would make prosecutions more difficult, not easier,” the organization wrote.

The ADL also argued in the blog post that including police as a class protected by hate crime laws “confuses the purpose” of hate crime legislation.
