Host of $10 Million Bat Mitzvah Sentenced to Prison for Stealing Money

From 2013: A body armor mogul who threw his daughter a $10 million bat mitzvah with performances from 50 Cent, Tom Petty, and Aerosmith, was sentenced to 17 years in prison for his role in swindling $200 million from his company and its investors.

David H. Brooks, who founded DHB industries, the leading supplier of body armor to the US military, was found guilty of securities fraud and conspiracy in 2010.

During his trial, prosecutors said Brooks stole more than $6 million from DHB to purchase — in addition to the usual prostitutes, shopping sprees, exotic trips, and luxury cars — plastic surgery for his wife, a burial plot for his mother, $40,000 leather-bound invitations for his son’s bar mitzvah, and a $101,000 belt buckle encrusted with diamonds, sapphires, and rubies. Brooks also used DHB to purchase tickets to sporting events and concerts, and then made more than $300,000 scalping them.

Brooks also made millions off of falsely inflating the value of the bulletproof vests that he sold to the government, helping the company to meet profit projections.

Brooks spent most of the trial in jail, despite being initially released on bail, after the government discovered he was still hiding millions in San Marino and London (possibly $3.6 million in a safety deposit box, carried in a giveaway bag from the $10 million bat mitzvah).

Steve Sailer writes: Back in 2008, this was a nine-days-wonder story about how the Bush Administration had awarded a giant ammunition contract to a couple of Miami Beach stoners, Efraim Diveroli and David Packouz. This was obviously a conspiracy that went all the way to the top! Surely, Diveroli must have been a huge GOP donor. This would be the scandal that would bring down Dick Cheney!

Except the more I thought about the details of the story, the more it reminded me less of some movie thriller and more about something more mundane. As I blogged in 2008:

In the wake of the NYT’s story on 22-year-old high school-dropout Efraim E. Diveroli, who snagged $202,000,000 in U.S. government ammunition contracts in Fiscal Year 2007 to supply bullets to the embattled Afghan government, many people are wondering how the federal government could have handed out such a big contract to some loser who has been arrested twice in his young life: for drunk driving and for beating up a parking valet.

You would think that somebody in our huge federal government might want to do some background checks on the Internet. For example, the only job Diveroli has ever held besides working for his dad Michael Diveroli was working for his uncle Bar-Kochba Botach’s weaponry shop, Botach Tactical, in South Central LA. So, what kind of lessons did young Efraim learn working for Botach?

Here, unedited, is just the first page’s worth of customer reviews of Botach Tactical on Epinions.com:

QUALITY MERCHANDISE/INEPT CUSTOMER SERVICE REPS!
Botach. Great Prices, Horrible Customer Service.
Shop elsewhere. Poor customer service. NOT WORTH THE AGGRAVATION !
One word “Agonizing”
Please investigate this company on the Internet before purchasing anything!

Worst Shopping Experience Ever!!!

Worst Customer Service Around

A few days later I added a “general theory:”

Have you ever tried to buy a camera from the ads in the back pages of a camera magazine? There are pages and pages in tiny type offering better deals than you could get from any local store. A friend bought a camera from one once, and it turned out to be a horrible experience. The package showed up very late, was missing essential pieces, and when he called to complain the customer service rep acted hostile and tried to sell him more stuff he didn’t want rather than fix his problem. The representatives of the camera shop became highly abusive over the phone.

I asked him what city the shop was located in? Brooklyn.

And what time do they close business on Friday? 2 pm.

Well, there you go …

There are a whole bunch of Hasidic-run photography dealers in New York City. Some of them, such as B&H (which is jokingly said to stand for “Beards & Hats”), are quite honest and have done very well for themselves over the years.

On a bulletin board on Photo.net, customer Steve Levine says:

“Interestingly, B&H was the first “Hasidic” owned camera store that decided to treat customers like human beings. In the pre-B&H days, all of the NYC camera stores were nearly impossible to deal with.”

Many of them still practice bait-and-switch and other simple con techniques. They hook you in with too-good-to-be-true advertised prices, then proceed to make your life a nightmare as you try to get them to live up to their promises and they try to badger you into buying even more junk. …

So, Diveroli was just applying the family/ethnic tradition to federal contracts. You put in a low bid, assisted by Diveroli’s AEY, Inc. certification as owned by a disadvantaged minority (Hasidic, although Diveroli sounds like a Roman Jewish name — i.e., not Ashkenazi, which the Hasidim are — but Diveroli’s celebrity uncle Shmuley Boteach was ordained as a Lubavitcher Hasidic rabbi, although he has since broken with them) for affirmative action purposes. If the feds bite on the bait, well, you hustle like hell to come up with something that will make it so that the feds will be more willing to accept the crap you foist on them than dealing with you and your lawyers.

Here’s Hill in the Cousin Marriage scene from The Wolf of Wall Street (language NSFW):

COMMENTS TO STEVE SAILER:

* It will be interesting to see how they treat the ethnicity in the film. I get the feeling that there is a growing confidence among the new generation coming up in Hollywood – Judd Apatow and his troupe come to mind – when it comes to speaking plainly about their Jewishness.

Scorsese did a weird thing with WofWS in diminishing the Jewishness of Belfort while – to the point of caricature – exaggerating it in Hill’s character. That feels like his old Hollywood instincts kicking in to me.

It’s always interesting to note the way they treat it though, sometimes it can be just outright hilarious. The lead character in ‘Lord of War’ – though not based on a man I could identify as Jewish in real life – was turned into a crypto-Catholic Jewish convert. Is reverse Marrano a thing? Maybe some did do that to escape the Soviet Union but initially it just seemed a bizarre choice and extremely funny.

There’s a show called Happyish starring the exceptional Brit Steve Coogan as a melancholic ad-executive. Maybe ‘alienated’ is the better word. It’s written by a strongly identified Jewish man named Auslander (I think that’s his name!) and the wife is a ‘yenta’ complete with an overbearing and Shaoh-kvetching addicted mother but they, again, have followed that old Hollywood instinct to cast WASP but write him as Jewish.

Makes for frustrating watching because the outlook of Coogan’s character is very typically Jewish. Not that Coogan doesn’t share some of those traits and isn’t a very competent actor, but the effect is still jarring.

I think it’s time to just forget about the veneer. We know!!! It’s alright, you feel alienated and worry that if you just make it explicitly about you we might pogrom you or something but……

As our progressive friends are always saying, it’s 2015 for pity sake.

* Some of it is just that some directors have their stars and they stick with them even if the roles aren’t ethnically appropriate. Scorsese’s guy is DiCaprio (just as it was formerly De Niro) and there are good reasons for that: watch the reaction shots of DiCaprio as Hill rationalizes. DiCaprio is a movie star.

Similarly, Tom Hanks can’t really play an upper crust New York Irish-American in “Bridge of Spies,” but Spielberg and Hanks have made two fine movies together (and one not so good one in The Terminal).

* Franzen’s novel Freedom (2010) included a shady Iraq war arms deal. I wonder if it was inspired by this.

* I saw WofWS this past year on DVD, and I really enjoyed the movie. While watching the movie, something appeared to be a little off. Jonah Hill’s character was obviously Jewish, but Leonardo di Caprio’s character was much less so. Not being especially familiar with the story apart from the movie, I decided to do a little research afterward to find out more, when I made the troubling discovery that “Jordan Belfort,” di Caprio’s character, was Jewish and his company, “Stratton Oakmont,” had a definite WASP tinge to it. Now Hollywood has no problem turning out movies like the “Godfather,” directed by the Italian-American director Francis Ford Coppola, starring Italian-American actors portraying Italian-American gangsters, or TV shows like “The Sopranos” where a clearly identifiable New Jersey Italian-American mobster is portrayed by the late Italian-American actor James Gandolfini, or a movie like “American Gangster” where black mobster Frank Lucas who made a fortune in dealing drugs (law enforcement in the movie had a hard time believing that a Black drug dealer could outorganize the Italian Mafia when it came to drugs) was portrayed by the black actor Denzel Washington. Thus, Hollywood, which everyone concedes is totally dominated by Jews, has no problem portraying mobsters that are clearly identifiable as Italian-Americans or Black Americans and casting Italian-American or Black-American actors to portray them, but when it comes time to portraying “mobsters” (even though his criminal activity involved pushing worthless stocks) who are in actuality Jewish-Americans, such as Jordan Belfort, the portrayal is clearly smudged to obscure the Jewishness of the wrongdoer. Hence we have the very fine Italian-American actor di Caprio playing the Jewish-in-actuality Jordan Belfort. How can he be Jewish is he doesn’t look Jewish or have a Jewish name? We can’t turn out movies that might tarnish the image, can we?

P.S.—I had an older Italian-American man cutting my hair about 10 years ago, and he refused to watch “The Godfather” because of its portrayal of Italian-Americans, despite my strong recommendation that it was truly one of the greatest movies of all time. I wonder how many moviegoers watched WofWS and came out of the theater thinking Jordan Belfort was Jewish.

* My understanding is that putting in impossibly low bids is a normal tactic in federal contracting – they expect you to go over your estimate in both the time and cost so no eyebrows are raised. Personal contacts are important.

The internet has brought down margins in many industries by increasing transparency, but government contracting is still very opaque. I would expect that it stays that way.

* Packouz and Diveroli

Those two morons in the photograph have their fingers on the triggers – a major violation of safe firearm handling. And I am guessing that the muzzles probably are not being pointed at a safe direction either.

Botach Tactical

Infamous in the firearms industry for bait-and-switch and obnoxiously and aggressively bad after-sale service.

* Occam’s Razor suggests Steve’s explanation for the Wolf of Wall Street casting (DiCaprio is Scorcese’s star) is correct. If there were a Hollywood conspiracy to keep Jews from looking bad, the Jonah Hill character wouldn’t have been in the movie. Also, bear in mind that the Jewish Rob Reiner was cast as Belfort’s father.

As someone who had tangential contact with Stratton Oakmont types in the ’90s, the ethnic mix in the movie rings true. Pretty much any type of white guy you’d find in a New York City outer borough could be found working in one of those places, plus an occasional Asian or NAM. Interestingly, although there were firms with faux-WASP names like Stratton Oakmont or one I worked at (a legitimate company) called Barington Capital, there was also at least one firm with a faux-Jewish name: A.S. Goldmen & Co, founded by one Anthony Marchiano.

* Obviously, The Wolf of Wall Street loses a lot of insight into the Country Club Crisis by casting a Slavic-looking gentile like DiCaprio as Jordan Belfort, who emphasized in his memoir how he was driven to cheat and steal by his resentment of gentiles.

On the other hand, holy cow, did DiCaprio ever give an entertaining performance.

Our Multicultural Future

Comments to Steve Sailer:

* The Mexican intellectual is Jorge Castañeda perhaps? The Transom had an interesting review of one of his books that seems on point with your post:

One of the threads in his book which may have some unfortunate and concerning applications for the United States is that Mexico has struggled under what he describes as a “Hobbesian behemoth” of powerful government, which “simply never allowed civil society to flourish” as it persisted over the course of 500 years. Mexican society never developed anything like the “little platoons” of Burke, nor the network of associations that Alexis de Tocqueville credited with American democracy’s vitality – there was the government and the individual, with no civil society in between. This creates and fuels a patronage society, with the attendant social ills of corruption, cartels, crime, and more.

Mexicans simply do not form lateral social bonds, writes Castañeda: they only form bonds upward and downward. As such, Mexican society is extremely difficult to organize.

The ability of major questions to be democratically and peacefully adjudicated is severely constricted. As Tocqueville wrote of those citizens who have the attitudes of colonists: “They submit, it is true, to the whims of a clerk, but no sooner is force removed than they are glad to defy the law with the spirit of a defeated enemy. Thus one finds them ever wavering between servitude and license.” It’s possible that what we see in Mexico is the American future: that as our own civil society is pushed from the public square and supplanted by the power and force of government, it will replace organizations and communities in ways which impact the fundamental nature of the body politic.

* I was teaching math in Tegucigalpa during the first election after the ouster of Mel Zelaya. Out of 25 to 30 professional staff at the school, not one claimed to have voted. In the lead up, when I saw all the campaign posters in the streets, I figured that to a certain extent the election must matter. But on the day of the election, there was almost no one in the streets. Just a few soldiers. No one was voting. I talked politics with lots of people, and didn’t here one person say, “I voted for…” This is weird since there were all sorts of protests and marches in the streets. It may be just gauche or risky in Honduras to mention voting. But mainly, I believe, they (90% plus) don’t involve themselves.

* I’ve noticed an increased arrogance and dismissiveness from federal officials over the years; I suppose from forever, but it seems more pronounced since the Bill Clinton administration. Where bad press and public outrage once seemed to be of concern to federal bureaucrats, they now seem to measure their progress by how much ire they generate.

One little example is the occasional joint federal-local violent crime task force around here that crash the wrong house and shoot an innocent person. The local law enforcement personnel are identified by name in the newspaper, while the federal agents manage to stay anonymous.

* I lived in a suburb just south of O’Hare Airport in Chicago. Throughout the 80′s and into the 90′s there were huge protests against airport noise and many lawsuits. The area was mainly white then, largely Italian and Polish. Today it is mainly Mexican and you really don’t hear much about noise anymore, even though O’Hare has expanded with new runways at its southern end.

* Watch the TV show “Parks and Recreation,” which regularly makes fun of local town meetings just like the one pictured in your post. The ordinary attendees are almost all white and most of them are stooges, but they are all white. Every time it depicts a town meeting, the show pokes fun at democracy, but it really loves local government and the wacky but endearing white populace that enables it.

* Talk show host Michael Savage is coming out with a new book next week, Government Zero. He’s been talking about it and he makes the point that diversity means the end of democracy, a no-party system with an increasingly autocratic rule.

* From Harold Meyerson’s recent article about the Bronx:

Today, the Bronx has no comparable political culture or organizational life. “In my district,” says Ritchie Torres, who represents the central Bronx on the New York City Council, “we have some organizations that have a rich history of community organizing, but in general, civic society in the Bronx is lacking. My district has 160,000 residents, 60,000 registered Democrats, and 6,000 voters. With such a low level of civic engagement, we’ve had a lot of public officials who ended up in jail. And this comparative lack of civic and organizational infrastructure has been a challenge for the Working Families Party.”

* Those 6,000 voters in that Bronx district are almost certainly the ones with the higher IQs. The rest of the district probably totals people blow 100 points. The problem is, the lower your IQ, the harder it is to vote. People below the average have a terrible time just trying to read and understand the language of the ballot initiatives.

* Tom Friedman wrote a column awhile back that extolled the advantages of one-part autocracy. It’s easy to believe that this is what Progressives dream of.

From Tom Friedman, NYT, 9/8/2009:

One-party autocracy certainly has its drawbacks. But when it is led by a reasonably enlightened group of people, as China is today, it can also have great advantages. That one party can just impose the politically difficult but critically important policies needed to move a society forward in the 21st century. It is not an accident that China is committed to overtaking us in electric cars, solar power, energy efficiency, batteries, nuclear power and wind power. China’s leaders understand that in a world of exploding populations and rising emerging-market middle classes, demand for clean power and energy efficiency is going to soar. Beijing wants to make sure that it owns that industry and is ordering the policies to do that, including boosting gasoline prices, from the top down.

* Latino engagement is very low. This is why black politician Charlie Rangel has been able to defeat Latino challenger Espaillat twice even though his district is 55% Latino and 25% black. Its also why Jewish politician Sheldon Silver was able to be reelected for decades after Latinos outnumbered Jews in his Lower East Side district.

Its very frustrating for young Latino politicians in NYC. They want to amass political power using the Latino population as their base. However their base won’t come out to vote while the old Black and White residents do. Young White gentrifiers also seem to prefer to vote for black incumbents over Latino challengers.

* This is the paper you’re referring to.

It’s by Fredo Arias-King, a political insider who was Vincente Fox’s presidential aide.

“While Democratic legislators we spoke with welcomed the Latino vote, they seemed more interested in those immigrants and their offspring as a tool to increase the role of the government in society and the economy. Several of them tended to see Latin American immigrants and even Latino constituents as both more dependent on and accepting of active government programs and the political class guaranteeing those programs, a point they emphasized more than the voting per se. Moreover, they saw Latinos as more loyal and “dependable” in supporting a patron-client system and in building reliable patronage networks to circumvent the exigencies of political life as devised by the Founding Fathers and expected daily by the average American.

Republican lawmakers we spoke with knew that naturalized Latin American immigrants and their offspring vote mostly for the Democratic Party, but still most of them (all except five) were unambiguously in favor of amnesty and of continued mass immigration (at least from Mexico). This seemed paradoxical, and explaining their motivations was more challenging. However, while acknowledging that they may not now receive their votes, they believed that these immigrants are more malleable than the existing American: That with enough care, convincing, and “teaching,” they could be converted, be grateful, and become dependent on them. Republicans seemed to idealize the patron-client relation with Hispanics as much as their Democratic competitors did. Curiously, three out of the five lawmakers that declared their opposition to amnesty and increased immigration (all Republicans), were from border states.

Also curiously, the Republican enthusiasm for increased immigration also was not so much about voting in the end, even with “converted” Latinos. Instead, these legislators seemingly believed that they could weaken the restraining and frustrating straightjacket devised by the Founding Fathers and abetted by American norms. In that idealized “new” United States, political uncertainty, demanding constituents, difficult elections, and accountability in general would “go away” after tinkering with the People, who have given lawmakers their privileges but who, like a Sword of Damocles, can also “unfairly” take them away. Hispanics would acquiesce and assist in the “natural progress” of these legislators to remain in power and increase the scope of that power. In this sense, Republicans and Democrats were similar.

When thinking of populating as a way of obtaining power, perhaps these U.S. legislators, rather than from the statesman Sarmiento, took an unconscious cue from another Latin American leader who used migration and ethnic policy for less laudable goals. Mexican President Luis Echeverría (1970-76), who began the cycle of political violence and economic crisis from which the country has yet to recover, pursued a policy of moving hundreds of thousands of impoverished people from the country’s south to the more prosperous and dynamic northern states, where they remain to this day, mostly in shantytowns. His goal was to neutralize those states’ more active civic culture that threatened his power—as these states were at the time the main source of opposition to his dictatorial ambitions. These pauperized and dependent migrants and their offspring would provide a ready source of votes for the ruling party along with a mobilizeable mass to counter (politically as well as physically) the more civic-oriented middle classes of those northern states and “crack” their will to challenge his corporatist regime. Along with other extra-constitutional tools (he almost succeeded in canceling the constitution to remain indefinitely as president), migration from undeveloped areas was used by Echeverría as “politics by other means.” Echeverría, in other words, was the ultimate knave.”

Steve Sailer has often spoken of a high-low coalition against the middle. He’s also called immigrants the reserve army of the elite. This paper seems to confirm his theories.

* A family I knew well in Winnetka had moved from Evanston, where they were both professors at Northwestern, and liberal politically…One of the reasons, they told me, was that when they went to parent conferences and other parental events in the local grammar school, absolutely no black or hispanic parents would show up. They were disturbed by the complete lack of interest shown by minority parents, and the appearance of segregation at parental events. The school was about 40% minority in fact.

* Just look at California in general, and its three most prominent statewide elected offices: Brown, Boxer, Feinstein. All white (or “white”), the three of them combined are old enough to extend back to the 8th day of creation. Yet, their state is so “young” and “vibrant” and “diverse.”

Steve Sailer: Diversity and the Housing Bubble/Bust: Yet More Data

Report:

Variations in Housing Foreclosures by Race and Place, 2005–2012

Matthew Hall
Kyle Crowder
Amy Spring

Abstract

This study describes the spatial and racial variations in housing foreclosure during the recent housing crisis. Using data on the 9.5 million visible foreclosures (public auctions and bank repossessions) occurring between 2005 and 2012, we show that the timing and depth of the foreclosure crisis differed considerably across regions and metropolitan areas, with those located in the Mountain and Pacific West regions experiencing the highest foreclosure risks. The crisis was patterned sharply along racial/ethnic lines, with metros and neighborhoods with large black and Latino populations—as well as racially mixed neighborhoods—having high rates of foreclosure. Our analysis also highlights the particular vulnerability of Latino households, who not only had very high individual risk of foreclosures but tended to reside in areas hit hardest by the crisis. The race-stratified geographic patterns of foreclosure revealed here are substantially more complicated than a narrative that depicts only the unique disadvantage of black households during the crisis, and likely reflect some level of specific targeting of minority populations and neighborhoods by predatory and subprime lenders.

Comments to Steve Sailer:

* If ACORN were sending agents out into poor neighborhoods, knocking on doors, and asking the poor hispanic or black occupants if they’d ever considered buying a home, then sat them down and showed them step by step of how to secure a mortgage loan with the shitty job and credit score they had, would that be considered “predatory”?

I thought “community organizers” couldn’t be considered predatory. If they were predatory, that means something was horribly wrong with community organizing, and their leaders should be held accountable, shouldn’t it?

* So, after 15 years of pushing loans to minorities as part of a national effort supported by academics, government, non-government agencies, community/minority activists, the hindsight is this was actually ‘predatory lending.’ As if giving someone a free house they paid nothing to rent for a couple years is that horrible.

Anyone given something they don’t deserve, and told they deserved it, will be worse off for it.

WP: A new film asks what would happen if Hitler returned to Germany. The answer is worrying.

Washington Post:

It’s been more than 70 years since Adolf Hitler, the infamous Nazi leader, shot himself dead in a Berlin bunker. In the decades that have passed, Germany seems to have changed beyond recognition. While Hitler’s Germany stood for prejudice and violence, the Germany of today is perhaps better known as a place of rational efficiency and recycling.

What would the Nazi leader make of present-day Germany? And, perhaps more importantly, what would Germans make of him? That’s a question that “Look Who’s Back,” a recently released film based on Timur Vermes’s bestselling 2012 novel of the same name, seeks to answer.

The results are surprising — and perhaps a little disturbing.

The film follows a simple, almost nonsensical plot. For reasons that are never explained, Hitler magically reappears in a housing project in east Berlin, near the site of the bunker where he killed himself. After a chance encounter with a TV producer, he engineers a plot to become a media star.

Much of the start of the film centers on Hitler’s surprise about how the world has changed since 1945. The former Nazi leader, played by actor Oliver Masucci, expresses shock that Poland still exists (“and in German territory no less!”). His disgust for Germany’s modern democracy is clear: Angela Merkel is described as a “clumsy woman with the charisma of a wet noodle.” Only the Green Party, with its aim of conserving German nature, arouses any sympathy from Hitler.

“I’m glad Goebbels never saw this,” he shouts after discovering modern German broadcasting is full of cooking shows and reality television.

This part of the film is funny, but it is fiction. As director David Wnendt explained, the aim was not to be as historically accurate as possible but to take Hitler’s known personality traits and turn them into comedy. “It doesn’t take Hitler too seriously,” Wnendt said.

What’s more surprising is the way that ordinary Germans react to Hitler. The great conceit of the film is that in the scenes where Hitler meets ordinary people for his media project, these people actually are ordinary people. In the style of Sacha Baron Cohen’s “Borat” and other films, “Look Who’s Back” blurs the line between reality and fiction — with real people interacting with a fictional portrayal of Hitler.

The cast and crew drove across the country, having Hitler interact with ordinary people. Most of these people react to the site of one of the 20th century’s most vile leaders with excitement and amusement. They pose for selfies with the feared Nazi leader and perform the famous Hitler salute for him. Even non-European immigrants seemed to be happy to see the Nazi leader, Wnendt said, because “they probably learned about history a little differently.”

Comments at WP:

* Well, apparently he didn’t do anything. It was all the Palestinians….

* Why is this so shocking? He’d probably make a decent showing in the U.S., too, or any number of countries. As would lots of other dictators and monsters from history.

Face it, the collective guilt of the Germans is something of the past. Germans growing up these days if anything resent that they’re still supposed to feel guilty about what past generations did.

* It is incredible how Germany and many European countries have laws that punish people who openly discuss history like Zionist authoritarians in some freaky George Orwell novel

As an American, who doesn’t like Nazis or their Israeli proteges, I find it very offensive.

WP: Camerawoman who tripped Syrian migrant launches (likely fruitless) battle against Internet rage

Comments at the Washington Post:

* Good for her. If I saw a trespasser running from the cops I’d tackle him too.

In a functional culture the police and the citizens are on the same team.

* If I saw someone running from police custody, and knew they were an illegal immigrant in my county–I would trip them, too. Good for you, Petra. At least someone is standing up to this refugee scam. 80% are men–Iraqui army deserters, Syrian draft dodgers and on and on ad nauseum. This is what Hungarian police have had to put up with as they have tried to protect their borders based on EU (and international) law. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0CF9c8B_3M These animals don’t mind holding an innocent child out to get tear-gassed…this is the other side of this media farce–why don’t we see it?

* Just another example of how the CDA needs to be amended to allow for lawsuits against service providers. They should not be allowed to get away with allowing this crap on their services. Newspapers and TV stations can be sued for false or malicious content they publish or broadcast, but internet providers get off scott free while people’s lives get ruined. Does this woman really deserve to be unable to feed her kids? Does she deserve death threats? Does anybody?

WP: S.C. woman escapes rape by biting off her attacker’s tongue

From the Washington Post:

antoine

The attack began shortly before dawn on Friday when the woman heard a knock at her front door. When she climbed out of bed to check on the noise, however, she found nobody there.

Moments later, she heard another knock only to again find her front yard empty. When the doorbell chimed, she opened the door once more.

This time, the yard was not empty.

Instead, a stranger stood to the side of her front door holding a 13-inch serrated knife, according to NBC News 2.

The woman screamed “No” and tried to flee inside her house but the man pushed his way into her house and locked the door behind him. He then tackled the woman and punched her several times in the face.

“Stop fighting and I won’t hurt you,” the man reportedly told the woman before slinging her over his shoulder and carrying her into the bedroom, according to ABC News 4.

The woman, however, had no intention of giving up. And when the attacker tried to pull down her shorts, she kicked him in the groin.

“Now you have to die,” he told her, according to the police report.

The assailant then forced himself on top of her and shoved his tongue in her mouth.

It was the only opening the woman would need.

Faced with a younger, stronger, armed assailant, the woman did exactly what self-defense experts suggest: she went for her attacker’s weak spot. In this instance, it was his tongue.

The woman “bit his tongue as hard as she could until she heard it snap,” according to the police report. Miller then began screaming and climbed off of her.

The woman ran out of the house, but not before spitting out her attacker’s tongue and throwing it on her kitchen floor.

Comments at WP:

* The brain disorder is just setting up his defense. Plenty of non-readers know right from wrong; he was able to tell his potential victim to cooperate and he wouldn’t hurt her. Hope he gets life without parole.

* The only “brain disorder” that this guy has is stupidity. He punched this woman in the face several times to subdue her, and threatened her life. He belongs behind bars.

* Yes!!!! Kudos to this brave woman!!!

Your honor, this dude cannot talk because the cat got his tongue!!

Served your raping behind right!!! Sudden case of loss of tongue!!!

* Wow, wow and wow. What she did was amazing. That survival instinct is something else. I will say she should never have opened the door after the first no-show. I probably would not have opened the door at all, given that it was an odd hour for anyone to be knocking on the door. That said, she is a warrior and this guy will have a speech-impediment and a long jail sentence.

* But he looks like such a nice young man… just a gentle giant.

* But but he was such a nice kid and was going to go to Community College.

* Brilliant!! Disable your attacker, make him easily identifiable, and permanently scar him for life…plus, now he can’t even whine about how unfair his life is that he has to go out and rape people.

* “He has a brain disorder that causes him to act on impulse and do things… he’s only reading at a second grade level.”

When these animals are out raping and killing those intelligence tests show that it’s not their fault.

Yet when they want to go to college those same intelligence tests are culturally biased and invalid.

* This is surely the feel-good story of the day. This tongue-less animal will now have to gesticulate like a monkey to communicate.

* 100% responsible for his actions. Anyone who says otherwise is living in a dream world. This thing needs to be exterminated before it gets released again.

* Wow. I’m speechless. But then so is he.

* Sounds like his disabilities are so severe, that to protect the public, he needs to be institutionalized for life.

Europe Braces For Rape Epidemic From Incoming Migrant Hordes

Novelist Jack Engelhard writes: Swedish school authorities are warning their girls to keep their knees and arms covered for fear of this fresh influx of refugees.

Who might they be, these refugees? People from China, Japan, Canada, the United States?

You win if you guessed Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and mostly, as of late, Syria.

Teachers are saying this new influx into Sweden, which is already the rape capital of world due to a previous influx of the same kind, brings with it men who simply have a different way of looking at girls and women. They are not used to women who – well, they simply are not used to women, period.

Where they come from women are toys, playthings and birthing machines.

So the Swedes are warning their kids to be extra careful because these new people come from a place where women get no respect. They expect to be abused.

They expect to be raped. Raping is normal in that part of the world.

That is not how I read it in the paper just the other day, but since I lost that particular clipping readers will please rely on my interpretation – for in fact the Swedes never used such terms as “abuse” or “rape.” That would be un-Swedish and so un-European. Political correctness must be observed.

Nor will they admit that nearly all these asylum-seekers are men without women.

So what they say is that these new refugees, mostly from Syria, bring with them a different culture – and it is a culture that must be respected.

Therefore it is not for them to adapt to us – it is for us to adapt to them. When they rape, it is our fault. They can’t help themselves.

They see a woman – and she is theirs for the taking. These well-fed lusty men simply cannot control themselves and their thrill-seeking ways.

It is their way of life and they cannot be blamed.

So say the Swedes, but by use of European Talk, which means using metaphors and avoiding any truth that stares you in the face, like the EU’s plague of rapists.

My Swedish waitress Olga — Is she upset about what’s happening to her home country?

“Yes,” she said. “Those poor people. We must have compassion.”

She does not mean the rape victims. She means the brutes. This does not make her heartless. This makes her European. That is how they think.

That is how they are being destroyed from within, and illustrates how absolutely futile it is to reason with Europeans or with American Liberals.

They are entirely too busy being merciful to the wicked…and we know how that ends.

They welcome the predators who can’t control their sexual appetites, as to turn them back would prove that some people are different.

For the typical European and for the typical American Liberal, this is the guiding creed – All people are the same. All people are good.

Rather than face the fact that people are different, that Christians and Jews share no values with cannibals from Islam, Europe is prepared to roll over to accept the virtues of brute force. Europeans are ready to make the switch from the Bible to the Koran; from the belief that women are to be honored and protected to a custom that treats women like cattle.

This is your Europe of today, a place being gobbled up by people, among them savages, who know how to prey upon Western heartstrings. Strangely, Israel’s Arabs are having no part of the stampede onto Europe. They seem quite content to stay put. Very strange.

“The Koran has arrived and it has come to devour the Bible,” we wrote in this book. Finally, we are correct.

One by one they go with the flow of Islam.

An Orthodox View Of Love

Jewish Standard: Both Ms. Brown’s books are written in a child’s voice — a smart, self-aware, limit-testing, often obnoxious little girl, self-centered as happy children often are, secure in her parents’ love and her place in the world. “Hush,” published in 2010, conflates three stories of sexual abuse that she had heard when she was a child. “People find it politically incorrect to say that sexual abuse is endemic in the community, but the simple fact is that the more denial there is in any given society, the more freedom the pedophiles have,” she said. It is not a subject about which most people are particularly forthcoming in most places, although the silence around it in the outside world is lifting somewhat now, but in her time (she was born in 1980) and place (Brooklyn), it was shrouded in ironbound silence.

She does not think that there are more pedophiles in ultra-Orthodox culture than anywhere else, she continued, but those there are find themselves more enabled by the silence.

The title of Ms. Brown’s second book has to do with the place that romantic love has in ultra-Orthodox culture. That place, in short, is no place. God has arranged all matches, and it is up to rebbes, parents, and matchmakers to figure out who belongs with whom. Romantic love, as the Western world knows it, would be disruptive, getting in the way of God’s plan. “It is taboo,” Ms. Brown said. Stories from the outside world are dangerous because they often traffic in tales of love; Ms. Brown’s alter ego in “This Is Not a Love Story,” 8-year-old Menucha, gets her hands on a book of fairy tales, ingests them, revels in them, and is exposed to contaminating ideas through them.

Just Wondering

* Wife: “I could reheat something or honey, you could pick up something on the way home piping hot!”

* How come escorts advertise the complete “Girlfriend Experience” but not the complete “Wife Experience”?

* My friend thinks the worst of everybody, and it bothers me that he’s right about 95% of the time.

* Friend: “All you do is make stupid jokes and stupid posts! No wonder ************* tried to kill you. Anything to stop the monologue.”

* Just pitched a rich Jew that I could be his guide to the Gentile world. “I know how the goy thinks!” I cried.

* Orthodox Judaism and Seventh-Day Adventism do not approve of bachelor parties, so I’m thinking of asking my future mother-in-law to pay for one.

* Friend: “If you had any decency, any self-worth, any strength, you’d drive to her house right now and save her from a bad wedding.”

* Ever been served Ensure in crystal glasses by a butler at a business meeting with an old geezer?

* Friend: “Do you agree with me?”
Luke: “….”
Friend: “I always ask you for your opinion so I can hear a stupid response and you never fail.”

* A friend looks at me: “You look like David Carradine in The Kungfu Kid. You don’t look Jewish. The only thing you can convert is Uncle Ben’s rice.”

* A black and a Mexican are in a car. Who’s driving? The police officer.

* Friend: “You don’t care about me. I’m just in a sea of people you don’t care about, which is basically the whole planet. I know who you are.”

* “Where would Judaism be today if Luke were not here to point out the bad things.” (Miriam Lilian D Or)

* I just tried to extend my empathy by asking a friend, “How are you?”, and she replied, “In what way Luke?” Pfft. I’m tired now.
