Washington finally united — in hatred for Donald Trump

Charles Hurt writes July 7, 2015:

Finally! A great, unifying figure emerges in American politics to bring the endlessly bickering factions here in Washington back together again.

Not since 9/11 has everyone in Washington rallied in such unison as they do now — vehemently opposed to the presidential campaign of Donald Trump. But unlike 9/11, the sophisticates and kleptocrats in both parties of Washington find themselves wildly out of step with actual American voters.

People in both parties and even those resolutely unaffiliated here in Washington twitch and tremble at the mere mention of the Trump name. Refer to him as “President Trump” or repeatedly reference “the Trump administration,” and these people go into a smoldering tailspin.

Eyes bug out of heads. Professional Republicans denounce him. Conservative commentators mock him and insist he is no part of the Grand Old Party. Professional Democrats abhor him and smear him as a racist boob. Liberal commentators predict that he will destroy the Republican Party.

Truth is, the fact that people here in Washington fear and loathe Mr. Trump so much is final proof that these people here in Washington fear and loathe you; the great unwashed voters of America.

People here in Washington despise voters and think you are stupid and not to be taken seriously. You are rude and vulgar and uneducated.

Take Mr. Trump’s comments about the illegals streaming across the border from Mexico who commit these heinous crimes.

“When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best,” he said in announcing his campaign. “They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists.”

This was not a polite thing to say. But it is absolutely, incontrovertibly true. Just ask the grieving family of Kathryn Steinle out in California. And polls show that American voters in both parties agree with Mr. Trump and desperately want the crisis to be fixed.

But in this ever-lying world of Washington politics, it is wrong to speak the truth if it is shocking or unpleasant. Which, of course, is how this country has gotten into the terrible fix we are in today.

So Mr. Trump is denounced from every corner, branded as a racist and excommunicated by proper politicos of every stripe.

Even the “severely conservative” Republican Mitt Romney got into the game, saying: “I think he made a severe error in saying what he did about Mexican-Americans.”

Whoaaaaah, Nelly! Who said anything about legal “Mexican-Americans?” Nobody is talking about people of Mexican extraction who are living and working legally in America. This is about illegal Mexicans illegally crossing the border and illegally committing atrocious crimes, in many cases even after they have been deported — repeatedly! It is about a broken border and a broken immigration system.

Americans are not anti-Hispanic or anti-Mexican. They are simply anti-insanity!

Was Donald Trump Too Nice At The Third Debate?

Comments at the Chateau:

* The late Lawrence Auster observed that a major factor behind Mitt Romney’s poor performance was his lack of killer instinct, demonstrated by things such as not pouncing when the opponent exposes a weakness.

* Trump doesn’t really have strong debate or speaking skills. He’s hoping to get elected based on his TV show popularity, plus the single issue of immigration policy. So I’m not very surprised that he seems unprepared for even softball questions like H1B.

I get the feeling he doesn’t really care about being prepared for policy questions. He thinks he can sit down as president and just wing it, day to day, making snap decisions from the gut. Call this confidence, or call it arrogance.

Every other candidate is owned, OWNED, by lobbyists. Someone who can honestly decide what’s best would be a big improvement, even if we wouldn’t always agree with those choices.

* A few thoughts: 1) Folks whom I have talked to LOVED Trump’s debate performance – consider the possibility that he is moving well into the “Comfort Game” zone of the LTR. 2) Some of Trump’s tweets are so consistently obsessively vicious that they feel Eskimo-ish to me, so consider the possibility that one of the Eskimos on his staff, such as Michael Glassner, is sending the tweets. 3) When confronted, Trump backed down on his “Look at her face” criticism of Fiorina, but it WORKED – people realized that they didn’t want to stare at a plastic-surgery-ed albino-salamander-ette of a President for four years. So tying [possibly Sephardic Eskimo?] Rubio with Ashkenazic Eskimo Phuckerberg might be some JYC passive-aggressive tactic of simply getting the accusation out there and PUBLICIZED. 4) Neither Trump nor Carson are getting into details at all – they’re both dealing strictly in psychologicals – and it could be, not just that they know that the American people are sick and tired of wonks, but also that they themselves are disgusted with wonkishness and want nothing to do with it.

* Also, my understanding is that there were signs of physical warmth between Trump and Carson [N0 H0M0] at the debate, which is a huge sea change in their relationship. Early on, Trump was belittling Carson as only having experience in leading NURSES [i.e. herding cats, as opposed to running with a pack of wolves as their Alpha], but the tenor of the relationship seems to have changed now. And my guess is that when Trump learned of the story of 14-yo Ben Carson stabbing a man in a street fight, Trump might have done a 180 in his opinion of Carson [as being a whole lot more than simply a herder of cats], and maybe now Trump is strongly considering Carson as his VP. Trump spending his formative years at New York Military Academy and Carson spending his formative years in knife fights on the streets of Detroit could tie them together emotionally in a very powerful way [AGAIN N0 H0M0] – in that they both spent the 1960s, as teenagers, studying the Fine Art of K!LLING.

* I think Cruz scares both republicans and democrats a lot more than TRUMP because he is a very smart ideologue who will burn everything down in accordance with his view and his view only while TRUMP is a clever pragmatist who will still do some deals to get things done. The former is a non starter for everyone, the latter at least they have some hope they can hang on to something.

* Cruz is playing it smart. He knows he’s not getting dick in the way of favors from the establishment, so he’s rolling the dice with voters as a renegade candidate, and by not attacking Trump he could end up with a cabinet seat or good favor with a Trump administration.

Cruz has an elfish face and a bit of an annoying voice which will definitely hurt his electability, but he is definitely a very smart guy and if it somehow ends up Trump vs. Cruz for the nomination it is a huge blow to the GOP establishment cucks and a win for all of us.

* I really like Cruz. If he had more charisma, he would be my No. 1. He has solid ideas, and solid conviction, with latter being something very few in Congress (or politics in general) have these days. Also, to my knowledge, he is not surrounded by Eskimos, and has a beautiful family.

I think that Trump needs to freshen his message a bit. He is beginning to sound like an old record repeating the same things over and over, such as “We don’t win any more….”, “Nabisco is moving to Mexico….”, etc. He needs to solidly learn a new area each time he makes a major speech or debate, and hammer it home with conviction. Still, Trump 2016.

* He has done business with Jews and hired Jews. Now he is against immigration, which is the number one issue for Big Jewry. He also opposes much of the neocon agenda in the Middle East, which is the second issue for Big Jewry. Which is why the media Jews hate him and have attacked him for 130 days now.

* It is a real possibility that Hillary will win. It is also very possible that she won’t. No one can claim to know for sure at this point.

Yes, she has liberal Whites and she has non-Whites. But as Steve Sailer has shown, merely a few more percentage points of Whites deciding to vote GOP on election day would mean the GOP candidate wins in a landslide. This is called the Steve Sailer Strategy. Mitt Romney would have won handily had he been able to make just a few more percent of Whites leave home and go to the voting station. Remember how many just didn’t vote.

I have always said that the recipe for defeating the establishment is to be a coalition candidate for Whites: against immigration, but moderate on everything else except crime. Immigration is what really matters anyway, everything else can be solved later.

* Trump’s platform will build a formidable white coalition of voters not seen in ages. Tough on crime and immigration, no need to go all Ayn Rand on “small government” and free trade and tax cuts.

Every other issue is reversible and repairable. Immigration is not*, it is irreversible.

*Unless we deport the millions of children of foreigners who are born on US soil, which would require no less than AH in the White House.

* I almost clapped when I watched a video clip of Cruz’s attack on the moderators’ questions, and I don’t have any particular fondness for him. Rather than take the bait (and fail the shit test), he threw it right back at the moderator and brought the discussion into his own frame, offering a flash of alpha that would otherwise serve him well if he were like that the whole time.

One wonders if he was inspired by Trump’s mockery of Megyn Kelly’s questioning and realized he too could bring the conversation into his own frame.

This an area where Trump might have also impacted the presidential race. In 2012, the candidates entertained the stupidest questions. Now, they might actually call it stupid and mock the moderator for asking it (to the applause of the crowd).

In other words, moderators don’t always necessarily establish the frame anymore; now the candidates can establish the frame if they’re willing, irrespective of the question asked. The same way a man should with a woman.

* Watched a trump speech from Iowa this morning. I don’t really think he’s any different from the other political figurehead puppet masters, but The man is a master of seduction.

He worked the crowd, hard. Called young men handsome and young women lovely. Reframed his lack of knowledge on specific issues as “not playing all his cards” and “hitting the enemy where they least expect it”. Used powerful, simple language.

The dude is a public speaking genius. He had me fascinated. Even the sound of his voice was soothing. Yes, Donald, make me a real and take me to the promised land.

* Trump’s business success is based on making the correct decisions on the big issues, and then delegating the implementation to well chosen subordinates.

In modern politics, that is not enough. The boss needs to master the important details, and he needs to be able to eloquently defend the plan. Until yesterday, had he even read his own plan?

I admit, he’s put his peculiar talents to good use so far in this campaign. He correctly determined that immigration was the most important issue of our time, and he recruited Jeff Sessions to craft a detailed plan. These two wise decisions advanced him from 9th place in the polls to a commanding double-digit front-runner position. Ever aside from immigration, he has shown an uncanny ability to identify the most important issues and make the correct decisions: campaign finance, political correctness, relations with Russia, trade, taxes – (although he’s struggled on taxes, there being no equivalent to Jeff Sessions and Numbers USA ready to craft the details of the populist tax system he instinctively favors. When Norquist, Kudlow and the Wall Street Journal praise your attempt at populism, you know you’ve failed)

He needs to understand, everything he’s done in life up till now is child’s play compared to the task before him. Amnesty and increased legal immigration could destroy America. A war with Syria/Iran/Russia and a continuation of the “refugee” invasion of Western Europe could destroy European Christian civilization. President Clinton/Rubio would be a catastrophe.

If Trump rises to the occasion, however, he could be the greatest American president. Indeed, he could be one of the greatest leaders in the history of European civilization, on par with Themistocles and Urban II. Or he could be a cartoonish footnote in the history of a vanished civilization.

The Double Standard On Sex

From the Chateau:

* I had to explain last night to a group of men the “double standard” of sexuality. They wondered why a man is championed for multiple sexual partners, but a woman is chastised for it.

I told them this “double standard” is because women are the gatekeepers of sex. Men are visual and a man will walk into a room and pick out which women he wants to have sex with simply based on how they look. Women are not nearly as visual, and when she walks into a room she may find a man visually appealing, but will not have sex with him simply based on his looks. She needs to have an attachment beyond the physical. Because of this, when a man approaches a woman and says “let’s have sex,” she will say “no” a vast majority of the time. End of story. When a woman approaches a man and says “let’s have sex,” he will likely oblige immediately a vast majority of the time.

* I always liked how it was phrased in City Slickers: “Women need a reason to have sex. Men just need a place”

The Reason Women Initiate 70% Of Divorces

From the Chateau: The divorce rate and the female fertility rate, if superimposed, are practically IDENTICAL. Divorce is, to a great degree, a function of a woman’s sexual desirability and her options in the sexual market. The more romantic attention from desirable men a young wife can command, the more unstable her marriage.

If stable marriages are a noble societal goal, then encouraging later marriages would work to lower the divorce rate. But, this strategy also works to lower the marital fertility rate, as older mothers have fewer children than younger mothers. Plus, beta males with rising SMV (sexual market value) don’t much like marrying road worn and put away hard women in their 30s, and they won’t if they don’t have to.

A better social strategy would be to instruct young men in the ways of seducing women — both premaritally and maritally — so that they can better tame and redirect their young wives’ hypergamous compulsions to themselves and away from alpha male interlopers. Still another possibility is pairing off younger wives with older husbands, for a balanced SMV match. Or, removing the disincentives to stay married that have become part of divorce and family laws.

(FYI, women will always receive the bulk of child support, and child custody, because women are naturally disposed to the task of child-rearing in a way that men aren’t. Most men don’t much like the drudgery of child-raising, but for that minority of ex-husbands and fathers who crave the joys of being a full-time dad, the family court system should be reformed to better sympathize with their needs.)

NYT: Where Are Black Children Safe?

Comments at NYTimes.com:

* They are safest living in communities where there are very few other black youth.

* Where are black children’s manners? This young woman was disobeying her teacher and then refusing to cooperate with a police officer and—there are indications—was even hitting him. Did he overreact? Yes. Should he be a cop? No. But was the young woman free of any blame? No! In most of these sensationalized stories the so-called victim’s behavior and lack of respect for authority is what sets the events in motion.

* Did the officer act inappropriately? Yes, he did. He has lost his job and may face criminal charges for his actions.

Does the fact that the girl who is involved in the case is black and has a complex story that includes being in foster care mean that she should not be held to the same standard of behavior as her classmates? No, it does not.

Rules in school are “expressly designed to subjugate” ALL of the students, who are held to a “standard of absolute obedience” in that environment. I know defiant teenagers and I know cops. That is a pairing that will consistently lead to violence, irrespective of the color of their respective skin unless the police officer has been specifically taught to deal with the situation.

Her defiance — not her black skin — was what precipitated the extreme over-reaction from the school safety officer. That does not excuse his behavior, which was inexcusable. But if we turn this into a bias incident, we run the risk of missing what it really was and losing the opportunity to ensure that everyone from teachers to “safety officers” are better trained to deal with teenage defiance.

* Once again another police & black incident resulting from said black person refusing to obey a police officers instruction. You can also put this one in the “not only ignored but took a swing at the cop as well” column to boot.
All these Oh-the-racism! articles… you do realize that EVERY SINGLE ONE of the ‘incidents’ you cite BECAME incidents because the black “victim”(criminal?) involved ignored the police officer involved and/or attacked him. Every single one. That’s the problem. Don’t disobey/run from/attack/resist police and none of these incidents would have EVER occurred. Problem is on your end Roxane.

* It’s sad to say, but black children, for the most part, are not safe because they have to live right in the middle of a black community, where children born to unmarried folk comprise about 80% of the number. Where so many kids have to grow up without a father, often raised by an unfortunate maternal grandmother, their sense of discipline won’t be too great, and the street gangs are a result. We should feel nothing but sympathy for these black children, and it’s strange that our federal government doesn’t try to do something about this.

* The answer is that they’re safe where they obey the rules.

* Well we should measure progress in even the smallest steps: Michael Brown evidently has fallen off the list of black bodies worthy of complaint. She looked abused and she’s black. Brown was black and is dead and after much hoopla I guess it has been decided that those are not related facts. Don’t terrorize little girls is sound policy, but deciding it is because of her black body has no substantiation in this story. It reminds me of the riots in Cincinnati in 2001: after the curfew was announced complaints came in that arrests of black people were higher than white people, so the police were ordered to go to peaceful neighborhoods and find white people to arrest, which they did. So how long is going to be until South Carolina is under DOJ orders to make sure that suspensions and expulsions of white and others get more in line with the number of students?

* It seems everyone commenting agrees: the officer was wrong to use such force.

This beg a question or two:

Why do we as a society believe that an arrest by the authorities should be a pleasant and non-violent act? It rarely is, even under the most accommodating circumstances.

Also, how does one FORCE someone to comply (physically) who refuses to, once a situation escalates to that level. These are fair questions in light of the commentary here along with the news coverage this story has received.

Separately, the entire premise of this editorial is beneath publication by the Times. There is surely a place for this rhetoric on some blog, somewhere on the web.

* Dear Ms. Gray,
In response to your statement that Black children are not allowed to be children, it seems more accurate to say that black children have no respect for authority or rules of civil behavior. What happened in the classroom in South Carolina was horrendous and unacceptable. However, that a student refused to put away her cell phone speaks to an on-going problem of people not responding to authority in an acceptable manner. People that I know were taught at an early age to obey rules and that disobeying rules results in consequences. For instance when the teacher says put away cell phones and electronic devices, that means put away cell phones and electronic devices. When the police say, “Stop.” That means stop. When someone does not stop when the police say to stop, then the expectation is that one will be shot or detained in some unpleasant manner. We are taught to stop. When the teacher says to put away electronic devices or stop talking in class, or pay attention, or stop disrupting class, the expectation is to do what the teacher asks. Why do some people refuse to do what they are supposed to do in a civil society. Why have any children not learned to behave themselves in class and in public (or at home). Whose responsibility is it to teach children (and adults) to follow instructions, especially when the instructions make sense, like stop when the police say stop and put away cell phones in class. It’s a no brainer.

* Teacher asks student to give up cell phone be used AGAINST THE RULES during class. Student says no. Teacher orders student to leave class. Student says no. Administrator is called in and asks student to leave class. Student says no. SRO is called in and orders student to leave class. Again, student refuses. Violent incident ensues resulting in loss not by student but SRO. It is not about a cell phone. It is about the refusal of yet another black to follow rules and orders by authorities. Black attitudes are mirrored in the words of the Baltimore mayor who gave rioters “room to destroy” during the looting period after a drug dealer died. Either live in our civilized society under civilized rules and laws or pay the penalty. White, black, green or blue is irrelevant. Follow the rules and no one will bother you. Rule number one: do what a police officer tells you to do. Brown, Garner, Gray etc. would all be alive if they followed orders at the beginning of their interactions with police. Fight the police and you will lose every time!

* “Why didn’t she comply with white authority? The question should be “Why didn’t she comply with black authority?” The video shows the only adult in the classroom besides the police officer is a black man, who is either the schoolteacher or the principal who the teacher called to the classroom. for all we know both the teacher and the principal are black. They, not the police officer, decided to eject the student from the classroom. The police officer was merely doing their bidding.

* When I went to school, merely “being passive” after a teacher or principle told us to do something wasn’t tolerated. It’s not “what has happened to schools,” it’s “what has happened to families who don’t teach their children how to behave”.

* Color is irrelevant when a student refuses to obey school authority; I know a number of white students who have been forcibly restrained for this reason, and I’m tired of the race card when a black student has misbehaved and is justifiably disciplined (I do not approve of beatings by authorities, but I know restraint is sometimes required to keep order). From what I could see of this video, and from news reports, this black student repeatedly disobeyed the teacher and was disrupting the class. She created, perhaps intentionally, her own situation and her whining about it is inappropriate, as are the bleeding hearts comments in sympathy with her. Tough love, folks, not enabling, please.

* My daughter teaches in an almost all black school in DC. Truancy is about 50%. Students who have to take a test that takes more than a single page to answer complain about their rights being violated. One student in an all-black class accused her of discriminating against him because had dreadlocks. There are virtually no consequences for disruptive behavior.

When there are no consequences you get more disruption. These kids have been taught from kindergarten they are victims and they will not face any responsibility for their action.

* Let’s start with where black children aren’t safe. Black children are not safe in run down urban neighborhoods where they get caught in the cross fire of mostly black-on-black crime.

Could white America do a better job of investing in black lives, black neighborhoods and black potential? Of course. But what rational person is going to invest in a people that has torn itself apart with drugs, sex and violence?

The color of ones skin does not determine who a person is or who a person becomes, the environment they grow up in does. The environment that most black children grow up in encourages disrespect for authority, pushes an ‘I’m a victim’ mentality and doesn’t give black kids an opportunity to grow up in a good, strong family.

Get your act together and start being civilized. This isn’t white America trying to force its values on you, its common sense. Don’t let your rebelliousness and grievances stop you from doing whats right just to spite authority.

* It is an apparently irresistible impulse among some Americans to ascribe any unhappy encounter between a white person and a black person to racism.

The sheriff seems to be the one person in this whole chain of events to have gotten it right. The young woman’s refusal to leave the classroom after having been formally ejected by school officials amounted to trespass and directly escalated the situation to one necessitating physical extraction. Her resistance to physical extraction resulted in a struggle which overturned her chair. Only at this point did the deputy act unprofessionally, by throwing her across the floor.

For his single wrongful act in an otherwise lawful detention the deputy has been fired. Meanwhile, the troublesome teen is now lawyered up and accumulating race-baiting supporters like a cheap suit picks up lint.

Here’s a thought: how about we grow up, and maybe thereby help our kids to do likewise. The over-entitled brat at the center of this episode is not Rosa Parks, and this will not be a footnote, much less a chapter, in any honest history of civil rights in America. Roxane Gay could have written a much longer piece about this episode, and she still would not have been able to make it into something it is not.

* Roxane Gay continues to infantilize Blacks.
Because this 16 year old girl has the emotional maturity of a temper tantrum throwing 2 year old, she should be allowed to refuse to compy with the teacher’s order to put her phone away. She should be allowed to not comply with being told to leave the class twice.
Why? Because she is Black.
Ms Gay enables childish behavior over learning adult coping skills.

* People of all races can enhance their safety with a relatively simple formula:
1. Stay within the law, avoid risky behavior.
2. Avoid situations where you even APPEAR to be outside the rules extant
3. Be respectful to authority figures at all times, even when you disagree with them.
4. Do not fraternize with those who take delight in rebellion, or acting outside the law/rules extant.
5. Avoid travel except when necessary.
6. If you have nothing kind, or productive to say, say nothing.

There you have it, safety in a nutshell. Of course, I’m just an old fuddy-duddy.

* If black children are allowed to violate rules and defy authority, because they are given a special victim privileged status by our nation’s 1% media elites (who do not have to live or go to school with them) – then who will be safe from the violent behavior of these black 12 – 18 year old big enough to maim/kill others “children”? Certainly as the murder and other violent victim statistics indicate, the other 99% of law abiding black children and adults will not be safe from being shot or beaten by this criminal few that this author seems to think should be able to “be children” run wild and abuse everyone around them, because why …. they are black? What everyone seems to forget is how glad most of us were when a teacher would discipline of throw a criminal in the making out of a class so the rest of us could get back to learning something. Particularly since that “child” was often the “bully” that intimidated and beat up so many of our friends … that by the way the politically correct are supposed to be so very concerned about reigning in and stopping now a days. Pundits need to make up their minds! If they want minority children to have any chance of advancing themselves the bullies and future criminals are going to have to be punished until they obey, or be removed for the safety of the other children. Now of course if our ‘oh so liberal media don’t really care if the poor & minorities get a good education they can continue with this self pitying narrative.

* If a white kid is disrupting my daughter’s class, I am all for a police officer using force to remove him or her from the class.
If an asian kid is disrupting my daughter’s class, I am all for a police officer using force to remove him or her from the class.
If a black kid is disrupting my daughter’s class, I am all for a police officer using force to remove him or her from the class.
I care about the kids who want to learn. I do not care about the kids who want to impose their behavorial issues onto other students & hard working teachers. Stay home if you don’t want to learn.

* What the writer fails to mention is that there are reports that other students in the classroom say the student was disrupting them and their educational process. She was was busy texting, which is not allowed in class.
Whatever the case, we do know that she was violating the rules and not cooperating. That much is known.
We must ask: what else can the teacher do? If the student is disciplined or dismissed, officials will be called “racist.” If nothing is done, everyone suffers and the school and staff is told it isn’t doing its job.
Is it any wonder that responsible parents of children of all colors — white, black, Asian and Hispanic — who can afford to do so flee schools in which there are constant discipline problems? As a parent, I would quickly yank my kids of such a school and move far, far away.
Another question could be why is she, like so many of her black peers, in foster care? Where are the parents? Where, especially, are the fathers? Some 70 percent of black children today are born to a single mother.
Why is this not a problem among the Asian community? They certainly aren’t white. If there was a basis against non-whites, wouldn’t Asians be the “target,” too?
The key, of course, is intact families vs. non-intact families.
Until people such as Ms. Gay start tackling the problem of the lack of a black family structure, she has little ground to base her complaints on.

* The disrespect and misbehavior of many students today make it impossible to teach. I noticed 2 things in the video; the teacher who called the police officer is Black, and the other students were not upset at the police officer coming in. Apparently, this is business as usual at the school. My experience in the public schools showed me that 60-80% of students are in school only to pal around with their friends, and show off their defiance of the teachers. They flatly resist any attempt to teach them anything, passively or actively, and expect the kind of coddling that is appropriate only to toddlers.

* “Where Are Black Children Safe?”

In homes where their parents provide a safe, stable environment?

Whatever the skin color or ethnicity…start with that, eh?

* I try to keep my children safe. I try to practice positive parenting in the home. My wife and I eat dinner with our children almost every night. We closely monitor their exposure to television and screen time. They do not watch professional wrestling. We check their homework, meet with their teachers and go to museums. I remind my children to obey authority figures, even if they disagree with them. My children are taught to respect teachers, police officers, and bus drivers.

My child would have been safe in that situation because he would not have taken his phone out in class.

My child would have been safe because he would not have been playing with a realistic looking toy gun.

My child would have been safe because he would not have been selling loose cigarettes on street corners.

My child would have been safe because he would not have shoplifted from a store.

My child would have been safe because he would not have been walking the streets in the middle of the afternoon on a school day trying to rob cigar stores.

We can teach our children to act in a way that males them safe.

* There are three videos of the Spring Valley High School incident. All the videos clearly show that the officer did not apply force because the student was black, disrespectful, or disruptive. What would have been a simple arrest turns into a wrestling match because of her physical actions, not her race or attitude. The student desk in the video in a “combo desk” with the desktop attached to the seat. The desk design is what made it difficult for the officer to lift the student out of her seat. Had the desk been detached from the seat, there would have been no viral video and no controversy. One video shows that, as the officer attempts to lift her from her seat, she swings at him multiple times, trying to punch in the face, but ending up punching him in the chest. Rather than going limp, as protestors are taught to do in peaceful protests, she bucks and braces her legs against the bottom of the desk top. It is her violent bucking and twisting—not the officer—that upends the desk. He drags her across the floor only to loosen her grip on the desk. The videos show that he never struck her—even though he was being punched—and that he never applied a chokehold. The widespread media lie that the officer “tossed,” “threw” or “pitched” the student across the room is absurd. The officer is powerfully built, but he is not superhuman. The only violence in the videos is the direct result of the student’s physical actions, not her race or demeanor.

NYT: ‘Redlining’ Home Loan Discrimination Re-emerges as a Concern for Regulators

Comments at NYTimes.com:

* The Democrats’ obsession with continuing to capture black votes led directly to the “sub-prime mortgage” meltdown. Give loans for those who cannot afford to repay them (ditto with Obama’s takeover of student loans, now over $1,200,000,000,000 with 20% delinquency!). That makes no economic sense but mucho political sense. Elect Democrats and kill the economy worked in 2007-2008 and will work now.

* Media: “Bad banks are not lending to minorities!”
Banks: “OK, we’ll start lending more.”
Media: “Bad banks pushing loans to minorities, saddling them with debt!”
Banks: “OK, we’ll be lending less.”

Rinse, repeat.

* I think the issue with the media today is that it firmly believes cultural groups act the same, behave the same etc on average. That’s just not true. I don’t know if the reporters aren’t coming across that in the personal life or their reporting forays simply don’t uncover them but often times I read articles in the NYT and I’m left wondering what country or place are they describing?

It’s well known in underwriting circles that Blacks on average have worse credit and financial profiles. Heck this paper goes on daily about this inequality or that one involving blacks. Do you want banks to make loans to people that have are likely to pay back the loans or you just want them to make them on the basis of race?

* Hmmm, didn’t the banks in the mid 2000s lend to borrowers who lied about their incomes to qualify for a mortgage after the banks came under pressure from Democrats in Congress to extend credit to low-income people? From what I understand didn’t this help precipitate the Great recession. Now Congress is back forcing banks to lend to people who have no ability to afford any type of mortgage. As Yogi said, Deja Vu All Over Again.

* I am quite liberal, aware of widespread racial discrimination throughout our society and opposed to it. However, what this article describes is or could be a simple consequence of (1) geographic segregation by race, combined with (2) income disparities by race. When neighborhoods are predominantly populated by low-income minorities living in low-value properties, lending in those areas becomes economically unprofitable. A bank is a for-profit institution, and cannot be forced or expected to lend where it does not expect a profit.
The only viable solution is to break up geographic segregation by race, and help people who live in those neighborhoods move to better ones. This, BTW, is also the only proven solution that reduces the school achievement gap, and therefore lifts people out of poverty in the longer term.
There is no point in treating the symptoms without treating the cause.
Our society as a whole has failed to address the profound race-based, race-driven discrimination that continues in so many forms. This is the work ahead of us, not beating up on private actors whose mandate is profit, not social justice. Congress (acting on our behalf) has the mandate to create “a more perfect union” in practice, not just on paper.

* And at the other end of the lending spectrum, you have cities like LA and Miami suing lenders, such as BofA, Chase and Wells Fargo, for having the temerity to lend in poorer neighborhoods. And then when the economy went bust, those neighborhoods and cities allegedly suffered blight, lower tax revenues, and other harms due to defaults and foreclosures. So the banks are generally screwed no matter where or if they lend.

* For the past seven years, the administration and its progressive friends have been screaming at banks to reduce their risks, to take less risk. The venerated Elizabeth Warren and the Dodd – Frank law have been forcing banks to reduce their risks, make fewer sub-prime loans and to stop risking money on poor credits. So is it any surprise when banks do exactly what President Obama, Elizabeth Warren and other progressives have been demanding? Oh, they may never admit that they intended to reduce lending to minority borrowers, but that is the effect of their demands.

* Banks restrict lending to certain groups because they like to be paid back. There is no other logical explanation.

* I don’t feel comfortable with the government forcing companies to open branches and advertise where they see fit. I would assume that another bank would see an opportunity and try to make money in an underserved market. Just the thought of the government micromanaging any market seems odd.

* If there are so many profitable minority mortgages out there then why doesn’t a liberal like George Soros start a bank and scoop up all of this profitable business?

It would be a mitzva if Jenna Jameson would go around Orthodox Judaism giving classes to women-only in husband pleasing

Think about how many marriages would be saved if Jenna gave classes to women only on how to make love to your husband like a porn star!

I’ve had a wide and varied dating life. I’ve dated actresses from Jenna’s genre and I’ve dated civilians and each had things to teach to the other.

I probably would have married by now if each group had more of the attributes of the other group.

Steve Sailer: Ross Douthat gets the Charles Murray book’s biggest oversight

Steve Sailer writes in 2012: To avoid inflaming his liberal critics, Charles Murray specifically states that he won’t talk about illegal immigration in discussing the state of changes in the white working class over the last 50 years. Fortunately, Ross Douthat in the NYT points out how unrealistic this is:

Third, if we expect less-educated Americans to compete with low-wage workers in Asia and Latin America, we shouldn’t be welcoming millions of immigrants who compete with them domestically as well. Immigration benefits the economy over all, but it can lower wages and disrupt communities, and there’s no reason to ask an already-burdened working class to bear these costs alone. Here the leading Republican candidates have the right idea: We should welcome more high-skilled immigrants, while making it as hard as possible for employers to hire low-skilled workers off the books.

Comments to Steve Sailer:

* The white American underclass has been created by many of the same trends that created the British underclass: deindustrialization and loss of high-wage work, increasing real estate prices and decreasing “affordable family formation” for everyone, anti-family welfare policies, pop culture, changing social mores, more competition in the labor market from immigrants.

Many are unaware just how much alcoholism, addiction, family breakdown, property crime, and poverty are in plenty of predominately white rural areas. No you won’t get shot by the Crips and the Bloods, but you’ll encounter a fair number of marginally employed substance abusers and are at risk of theft from meth heads.

There are even some white urban areas which have tipped from working class into the underclass. Mostly around the rustbelt (Cincinnati, Columbus, Cleveland, Jackson, Flint, upstate NY, Baltimore, Scioto County, etc). Charles Murray’s industrially decaying Fishtown, which is based on a white neighborhood in Philadelphia, has a crime rate almost 4x the national average.

* I can’t imagine that loss of decent jobs, whether through off-shoring or by importing cheap foreign labor to take the jobs that can’t be off-shored, isn’t a big contributing factor in pushing down the white working class. It doesn’t take too long either.

I live in SW Virginia. About 5 years ago when things started downhill, a Volvo plant nearby laid off a bunch of workers. These folks were making $20+ an hour with decent benefits. Down here that’s good money. You can live very well, especially if your spouse also has a reasonably decent job and you’ve been more or less prudent in your personal life.

Last year, Volvo started calling back some workers. Great news!! However, a surprising number couldn’t be hired back because they couldn’t pass the drug test. The likelihood of their finding anything that could touch those wages plus benefits are slim. Volvo, of course, had no problem filling those jobs with others.

The amazing thing is, these guys were clean when they worked for Volvo and it isn’t as if Volvo dropped by their house unexpectedly to give them a pre-hire-back drug test. They knew what was coming.

It’s just like the young women I see at social services and emergency assistance where I do some volunteer work. They can barely take care of themselves and they have two stair-step children and are pregnant with their third.

These people may not be dumber than their parents and grandparents, but, boy, do they lack judgement, and you don’t get that at college!

* Back in 1960, a large fraction of the working-class was employed in very well-paid auto industry and other industrial jobs, and these have been devastated. Meanwhile, the wages of other once-well paid jobs in construction have been greatly reduced due to immigrant competition. Finally, the private sector unions, which had kept those wages high, have been almost completely annihilated. I think about the only really well-paid working-class jobs left are the elite public sector ones such as police or fire departments.

Probably Murray is playing games with statistics, and comparing two-income blue collar households of today with one-income blue collar households of 1960. But that completely ignores the huge additional family costs incurred when wives enter the workforce. And I’m sure Murray’s also leaving out the enormous rise on the expense side of the family budget ledger, including health care and education. Elizabeth Warren has a great YouTube lecture covering most of these issues that can be found on the Internet.

* Germans went through hell in WWII but didn’t become trash after the war. 15 million Ost-Germans were uprooted, up to 2 million died, and they resettled in Western Germany with only clothes on their back.
Americans suffered far greater economic duress in the 30s. Yet they didn’t become trash.
Blacks suffered discrimination and poverty for a long time, but their family was intact until the 60s.
Chinese went through hell during Warlord period, WWII, Civil War, Great Leap, and Cultural Revolution but they’re working to build new China.

While it’s true that there has been economic hard times for poor whites in UK and US, what explains the total cultural and moral rot?

* Short answer: modern liberalism.

People of the middle and upper classes were no longer expected to hide their bad behavior and people of the lower classes were no longer expected to emulate the good behavior of their betters.

People were also encouraged to express themselves rather than repress themselves. The primacy, even the supremacy, of the individual was trumpeted unceasingly. When everybody is a somebody, then nobody has any reason to behave better than anybody.

Respectability, neatness, dress appropriate to the occasion, good work habits, intact families, the uncomplaining assumption of one’s personal and social responsibilities were all disparaged as risible and undesirable holdovers from the repressive and racist 1950’s (and earlier, of course, but the 50s really lent themselves to the left’s condemnation and ridicule).

The whole thing has been awful, which, I suspect, was the left’s intent all along.

* My wife works as a proofreader. Recently, there’s been a trend in the industry at farming out “low-level” copyediting and proofreading to workers overseas and paying them pennies on the dollar.

Most of these new outsourced employees don’t speak good English, and some don’t speak any at all. Instead, they go by a series of instructions and rules that they recognize by sight, without comprehending what the mistake in the text is or why they’re changing it. This process must take a great deal longer than native-speaker recognition and comprehension, but clearly the extra time is outweighed by the greatly reduced wages.

This kind of thing is getting more common (see sites like this one about outsourcing writing to India, and note the ‘diversity’ shout-out in the title.

People in the industry are uncomfortable about getting pushed out of the market, but don’t want to speak out because it makes them look racist. And of course, the bosses love it. It saves them money, and unlike other cost-cutting measures, it’s almost too easy to shame anyone who complains (“you don’t appreciate diversity!” “what have you got against helping non-Americans into the middle class?”) No one’s going to stop it until it’s too late, and they’re already being lectured by the shrinking minority of Americans with good jobs about being too uppity and demanding more than $4/hour. Everyone at this level of the industry is holding back a South Park-esque “THEY TOOK OUR JERBS” moment.

* Where is the Studs Terkel of the white working class? Maybe some of the elites might want to know what it is like for the whites working in fast food restaurants, as security guards, as delivery men or as cab drivers.

The bleakness of the white lower class is rarely portrayed without irony.

Statistics are bloodless. A story can imprint a image for a lifetime.

* I remember when i had a ‘gold’ server contract with dell – one day i picked up the phone during an emergency and got near incomprehensible Indinglish on the other end of the line. Worse still, the only thing that was clear is that the ‘tech’ on the other line had never even seen a real server.

I called sales -(always the way to actually get through to a company) and got routed to ’emergency’ customer complaints – when I complained i was berated by the woman on the other end “we’re committed to diversity”

I called her on her BS though, and got routed to the small “a-team” of american techs. After four plus hours (this while the server was down) I got to an american tech, problem solved in less than 20 minutes.

* True story: A friend of my college-age daughter’s, definitely from Fishtown, developed a heroin habit at age 20. He’s a smart kid, reads Emerson and William James on his, but in a moment of stupid desperation “:held up” a convenience store with a toy gun.

He was arrested but, without a lawyer, was sentenced to one year in county jail first offense. He got out owing the state $18,000. Plus he had lost his two front teeth in a fight while in jail.

With no transportation he was forced to walk miles to work washing dishes in local restaurants at minimum wage.

A few months later he was arrested for driving without a license. This was a parole violation, so he got five more months in the slammer.

Now he is 22, off drugs, but is virtually unemployable because of his record. He’s going to the local community college where he studies liberal arts and is, so far, $1800 in dept to the school. He has to bum rides or walk miles wherever he goes. He’s fit — was a championship boxer in high school — and reasonably good looking except for the teeth. No one will hire him.

He comes to me as a mentor. What can I do.? I’m an old man. All I can do is advise him: To learn a trade instead of studying English; join a Baptist church to find a girl friend (belief is not the issue), and go to the local newspaper in the hopes that his story will be told.

If he climbs out of the hole he is in it will be a gigantic achievement. My knees buckle at the thought. Otherwise he’ll be back in jail I imagine, at God know what cost to the state.

* Immigrants recruited to America tend to be in unskilled jobs or when they are bright, tend to be in STEM fields like computers/engineering. Immigrants are almost never recruited to flood the market in highly verbal fields that Jews do genetically best in like media, the social sciences etc. As a result verbal occupations see their relative prestige and pay rise because they are the only occupations where the market is not over saturated by immigrants. If this is intentional, it is a very clever strategy to gain more power by those with high verbal IQ Ashkenazi genes.

* There’s a substanial white underclass in America. It tends to be spread out and less visible, but it’s substanial enough in size. Go to any small town and you’ll encounter plenty of whites who drink too much, get involved with meth or oxycontin, and have problems with the law. It’s not comparable to the black underclass, but it’s depressing to look at these people.

The tendency of underclass whites to not form urban slums reduces the attention they receive, but there are more white slums then you might think. The rustbelt (Baltimore, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Detroit) has its share of high crime white hoods.

* In the US, Lower-income rural white areas have quite a bit of drugs, alcoholism, dysfunction, and property crime. Lower-income urban white slums have all those issues and also major problems with violent crime (assault, robbery, rape) and social breakdown (not working, broken families, etc). However, random lethal violence (shootings, stabbings, murders) is not too problematic. It does tend to occur at an unreasonably elevated rate in urban white slums, but it’s not so absurdly high that the neighborhood becomes a war zone.

White urban slums can match up to black slums in dysfunctionality and breakdown. They can surpass black areas in drug (meth, oxycontin) and alcohol abuse (trust me). For whatever reason, though, horrendous levels of lethal violence don’t seem to go through the roof, except in rare situations (South Boston and southwest Detroit come to mind). Some have attributed this to the widespread use of crack cocaine in the black areas, but maybe genetic factors are at work too.

The worst aspect of the white urban slums is that they’re falling apart. The people, the buildings, the community, the economy, etc. For the white rural areas, the situation is milder, but not good either. As our recession goes, and immigration continues unabated, maybe things will get worse. Take a trip through south Ohio (especially Portsmouth) to see what our future could look like. It might shock you.

Critiquing Charles Murray

Ron Unz? writes in 2012: Look, Murray has a long track-record, and that track-record shows him to be an incompetent and a shill. When you’re the most prominent public figure writing about extremely serious and controversial topics, this is a huge problem. Let me cite a few examples.

Back in late 1980s, I read Murray’s anti-Welfare “Losing Ground,” which I thought was quite good. Obviously, I noticed he’d left out any mention of the absolutely crucial HBD/IQ role and framed his entire critique in Ayn Randian terms, but I certainly didn’t blame him. After all, authors need to eat, don’t they?

But then after his big IQ book “The Bell Curve” came out, he was asked about that in an interview, and claimed that when Losing Ground came out, he’d been totally ignorant of IQ/HBD, and never dreamed it was a factor in anything until Herrnstein had contacted him, and unfortunately, I tend to believe him. Herrnstein/Jensen/etc. had published their stuff in the late 1960s and had gotten *massive* media attention, yet Murray had spent decades as a professional social scientist focusing on welfare/underclass type issues, and had never heard of any of that research. This is not a good sign.

Next, Murray’s Bell Curve book was extremely long and full but not very good and got lots of things confused. Anyway, it didn’t really say much that his co-author Herrnstein (a very serious scholar) hadn’t already indicated 25 years earlier back in 1969. In fact, I suspect Murray was really just writing up and popularizing Herrnstein’s research, which he didn’t fully understand in depth, and this turned out to be a *huge* problem since Herrnstein died just as the book came out. I remember seeing Murray on some TV show getting hostile questions from opposing scholars, and he didn’t really handle himself very well, since Herrnstein wasn’t around to pass him the answers.

Recall also that Murray claimed that for IQ-deterministic reasons there would be a *gigantic* growth in the national white underclass, just as disorderly and violent as the existing black urban underclass, and therefore by now all our cities would have become deadly no-go ghetto zones on the way to American “custodial democracy.” Instead, crime has since totally collapsed nationwide.

Afterwards, he mostly wrote silly libertarian books to impress his silly libertarian friends and paymasters, notably proposing to solve our social problems by having the government annually distribute $10,000 worth of free crack, er, I mean $10,000 in *cash* to everyone living in ghettos. He generally avoided IQ issues, except for a long article a few years ago in Commentary, in which he endlessly praised the unimaginable genius of the Jewish Race, and (as I recall) suggested that one major proof that the Jews possessed the most brilliant minds in history was that they had discovered the only true religion. Presumably, Murray wanted to have his stipend raised so he could buy a fancier house.
