* BLM campus guards are logical extensions of the typical attitudes of millennials. I am special, I am interesting, I am unique and I deserve recognition. These people must not be recognized as black lives/lies matter protesters, but something separate and different.
These people are logical outcome of participation trophies, special recognition for the talented tenth and genetic reality.
Gifted with little but victimhood status, they feel oppressed if others don’t recognize them and their ability. They do not feel the need to prove that ability or the greatness of that identity. They just need to exist and be recognized as great – their parents told them so. So did society.
This is really an internal struggle not for acceptance by society, as they claim, but coming to terms with the fact they are average, boring and tritely unoriginal. And that is their great battle – against their own mediocrity.

We see how would-be immigrants react to images of George Washington, pretty New England towns, John Winthrop, Norman Rockwell paintings, cowboys, etc
If the tests reveals bias against Anglo-American imagery, they don’t get in.
* When you see them in person it only reinforces the impression they’re very self absorbed and not very bright or self-aware. They’re all performing, but it’s a different dynamic depending on who you are. But I find it amusing and interesting how the great American dynamic–black people performing for fascinated whites–is very much on display. But you also see these pale-skinned black girls who probably have a white mom at home in the suburbs, and their Obama-esque need to blacken up leads them to emotional extremes.

* Worked for a Japanese company. Still deal with Japanese customers.suppliers, banks. They are genuinely negative on Trump which is understandable, as his rhetoric calls out inherent bias of Japanese US trade deals. But ironic that even though Trump rhetoric and immigration proposals are considered “extreme” by RightThinking People, Inc., trump’s views are to the left of Japan’s current immigration policy.
It’s hard to treat Japanese views credibly. It’s all “for me , but not for thee” hypocrisy. Japanese people say to me, “we should open up our immigration system”. They jest (lie), of course. They are so dang polite, its impossible for me to call out their bs.
Seems that Japan is resigned to take their lumps from terrible demographics with high taxes , slow economic growth, piddling bond and stock returns, inefficient markets (job, rice, agriculture), turbulent yen exchange rate, etc. But poisoning the demographic well is an absolute non starter for Japanese. I admire their collective decision.
Why doesn’t Trump play this “see what our allies do” card more? Trump should say….
“I want the same immigration policy as our crucial allies Japan, S. Korea , Israel. Are you saying our friends in those great countries are racist ????”

Trump’s numbers look like they’re tanking.
I don’t want to fall into a trap of saying the polls are wrong. But a post-Orlando slide seems really odd to me. Even Steve was calling it Trump’s luck again.
The left’s rhetoric has been transparently bad, while Trump’s responses were spot on, in my opinion.
Obama was clearly rattled by Trump, but he did score some good points. Trump replies that Obama was more mad at him than the shooter. Perfect.
Then a poll says only 25% approved of Trumps response to Orlando, but then another poll found that 50% support the Muslim ban. Go figure.

I’ve watched the first three parts of this ESPN documentary. It is compelling viewing. It is directed by a guy who’s half black and half Jewish. His politics are all left.
The black characters in the doc are so compelling and they are usually more emotionally affecting than the others. Whites seem dull by comparison. The blacks have such a strong sense of peoplehood, kinda like Jews and Chinese and Koreans and Australians, while the whites seem all about abstract principles such as “fair trial” and other legalisms and procedures.
There’s this Jewish journalist and USC professor, Joe Saltzman, who proclaims how he was as ignorant about black rage prior to the Watts riots as the white guy. Such Jews claim to be white when it is an advantage to them, and to not be white when that’s useful.
Prior to his 1994 arrest for murder, O.J. Simpson never seemed to care about being black. He seemed to prefer the company of whites.
Brentwood is described as a white place without crime and without blacks. Until 1994, OJ is treated by America as an honorary white, as a celebrity who transcends race (like Barack Obama was regarded before he took office as president and used his power on behalf of his race and against whites).

Rich Lowry writes: One of Donald Trump’s political skills is giving widely condemned speeches.
His post-Orlando jeremiad fit the pattern, but the speech was a little like Wagner’s music as described in the famous Mark Twain line: Not as bad as it sounds. There is something so inherently inflammatory in Trump’s delivery that he could read the Gettysburg Address and some listeners would wonder how he could possibly say such a thing.
The kernel of Trump’s speech was rather obvious: “The bottom line is that the only reason the killer was in America in the first place was because we allowed his family to come here. That is a fact, and it’s a fact we need to talk about.”
The reaction of much of the opinion elite was nearly instantaneous: Whatever we do, let’s not talk about that fact.
Countless articles have been written on how much better we are at assimilating Muslim immigrants than Europe is, usually with a heavy element of back-patting over our openness and fluidity as a society in contrast to the self-defeating insularity of a country like France.
This may well be true, but the assumption that we have the magic formula is, at the very least, under stress now that we’ve repeatedly suffered mass killings by second-generation immigrants. Read on.

Jews tend to prefer a strong central government because Jews have rarely been popular and have survived for millennia in the diaspora by cutting deals with elites.

It betrays the fortunate legacy of British Jews to hope that a Brexit will deny other refugees of war and dictatorship the sanctuary our great-grandparents received.
Like the overwhelming majority of British Jews, I am the descendant of ancestors who fled countries where persecution and pogroms were the norm. Put simply, if they had failed to find a safe haven in Britain, their descendants would not be alive today.
I find it hard to contain the shame that next Thursday, in the referendum on Britain’s membership in the European Union, many Jews will vote to leave. For all the talk of sovereignty and democracy being used to justify the escape from the grasp of the venal, nonelected bureaucrats in Brussels, the real motive of those voting to leave will be a fear of immigrants.
It doesn’t matter if you’re black-hatted frum or a bacon-eater who hasn’t seen the inside of a shul for decades, and it’s got nothing to do with your politics or how supportive or critical you are of Israel. There can be no more complete betrayal of the fortunate legacy of British Jews than to leave Europe in the hope that this will deny other refugees of war and dictatorship the sanctuary our great-grandparents received. Any attempt to justify it is rank hypocrisy bordering on racism.
There is of course a legitimate concern over the fact that many of the potential immigrants today are Muslims, coming from countries where crude anti-Semitic propaganda is a major staple of the daily diet. It would be foolish to deny the need for vigilance by the security services and the media. Does that mean human beings who had the misfortune to be born in countries where despots use Israel and the Jews as scapegoats for their own crimes should be left to their fate?
Few of the millions of immigrants arriving in Britain over the last century came from model democracies. Our grandparents certainly didn’t. And yet Britain is a more tolerant and open society than ever and, thanks to this tolerance, no minority has prospered more than British Jews.
Double historical burden
And yet, according to a Jewish Chronicle poll conducted last month, over a third of the Jews in Britain are planning to turn their backs on their heritage and vote for a Brexit. Of course, about half are voting to remain (and 17 percent were still undecided), but it beggars belief that it’s not just a few misfits and oddballs – at least 34 percent have no shame.
Jews cannot afford the luxury of having short historical memories. British Jews bear a unique double historical burden. They’re members of the one European minority that suffered more than any other throughout two millennia of mass murder, systematic discrimination and forced conversion. And they’re citizens of the one country in the last century to fight the entire duration of two world wars and the Cold War to rid Europe of dictatorships – Nazism and Communism.
Many of the British complaints over the EU’s restrictions and flawed policies are fully justified, but for all its Francophone dysfunction, today’s Europe – which has enjoyed seven decades of peace and trades in one single market – is more than anything the victory of British values won through immense British sacrifice. And while many Jews justly feel that the EU’s diplomats unfairly focus on criticizing Israel (which in real terms enjoys the most EU trade and cooperation in investment and research among non-European countries), how can they ignore the work done by the Union’s institutions in both fighting anti-Semitism and safeguarding Jewish culture in Europe?

Look around; there are still people among us who were alive back when nearly the entire continent was a hunting ground for Jews. Seventy years later, Jews have never been such equal and even honored citizens of Europe as they are today in the EU.
Judaism provides very little guidance for how Jews should vote in gentile elections so saying a vote against the EU is “unJewish” is hyperbole. There’s also nothing in Torah mandating that Jews vote in gentile elections to provide refugees with safe harbor. Judaism is almost entirely concerned with the preservation and welfare of Jews. It has very little to say about gentiles. Remember the story about the goy’s teeth?
I agree with the author that the primary reason some British Jews will vote to leave the EU is fear of immigrants.

There is no halacah (Jewish law) against racism. Judaism holds, after all, that the Jews are God’s Chosen People.

The Torah does not have much to say about such gentile policy questions. Torah certainly does not advocate that a Jewish state accept such people. From the Torah perspective, there is no room for non-Jewish citizenship in the Jewish state. So why should Jews in the diaspora advocate that their particular gentile host country accept Muslims who are fundamentally at odds with the West?

Anglos create the best countries (examples include the United States, Canada, England, Australia, and New Zealand). When you diminish the Anglo portion of these countries, they go downhill.

New York Times: Last month, two men linked to the shomrim in Williamsburg admitted taking part in the assault of a black man in their neighborhood. And in April, as part of a federal investigation, a former member of the Borough Park shomrim was arrested on charges of trying to secure handgun permits by offering bribes to the police.
That investigation led last week to the arrest of Norman Seabrook, the powerful head of the New York City correction officers’ union, who had dealings with an Upper West Side real-estate developer with ties to the New York Police Department and to Mayor Bill de Blasio. Several police officials who have come under scrutiny in the investigation had at one time or another held high-ranking posts in the 66th Police Precinct, which covers Borough Park and has in the past come under pressure from the Orthodox community.
The tensions play out in the crowded ethnic landscape of central Brooklyn, where blacks and Hasidim have lived in proximity for decades. Critics of the shomrim say the groups have leveraged this friction: In one of their recruitment videos, ordinary scenes from Borough Park — people shopping, a young boy learning Torah — are intercut with the image of a black man walking through the neighborhood and eventually stealing a woman’s purse…
In many Hasidic neighborhoods, shomrim groups court the police, honoring them at breakfasts at kosher bakeries and attending — sometimes planning — retirement affairs for officials who are leaving the department. When Stephen McAllister took command of the 66th Precinct in 2002, a crowd of Hasidic men, many from the shomrim, stood in line for hours at the station house to welcome him.
“It was a weird, but great, experience,” said Mr. McAllister, now the police commissioner in Floral Park, N.Y. “All of them came in saying: ‘Hi, I’m so-and-so. I’m the most important guy around. Don’t pay any attention to the next guy.’”
