I walked past Beth Chayim Chadashim this afternoon.

* Who was Zimri and what noble purpose was he trying to achieve by hooking up with that Cozbi daughter of Zur?
* The modern Phineas Priesthood believe the story of Phinehas and Zimri provides divine mandate for the murder of race traitors. The Phineas Priesthood or Phineas Priests (also spelled Phinehas) is a Christian Identity movement that opposes interracial intercourse, the mixing of races, homosexuality, and abortion. It is also marked by its anti-Semitism, anti-multiculturalism, and opposition to taxation. It is not considered an organization because it is not led by a governing body, there are no gatherings, and there is no membership process. One becomes a Phineas Priest by simply adopting the beliefs of the Priesthood and acting upon those beliefs. Members of the Priesthood are often called terrorists for, among other things, planning to blow up FBI buildings, abortion clinic bombings, and bank robberies. (Wikipedia)
* The Jewish tradition has great concern about what Pinchas did. It’s not generally the Jewish way to act violently on your own initiative. Orthodox Judaism is a conformist religion. The Orthodox Jew is expected to conform to the community and to ask his rav for guidance on difficult questions. If you act on your own initiative without consulting a rav, you’re a rebel.
I’ve had people in the Orthodox community describe me as a “Pinchas.”
* The plague that Pinchas stopped through his killing of the couple consumed 24,000 people. Sometimes a well-placed killing or well-placed torture can save thousands of innocent lives.
* Are any of the orgies depicted in Torah literature gay orgies or are they all healthy heterosexual orgies? Have you ever encountered sodomy in any of the mikvas you’ve attended? Was it weird seeing great sages naked? Did that diminish their greatness in your eyes?
* According to Artscroll: “Lust is constant danger of re-emerging. The way to deal with such a danger is to make the people understand that what they think of as a tempting pleasure is in reality an enemy, a threat to their very existence.” In other words, sex addiction is a terminal disease.
* After all my nasty work, I like Pinchas received the gift of a covenant of peace. I got my tranquility through Alexander Technique, psycho-therapy, and 12-step programs.
* Dennis Prager today talks to Harvey A. Silverglate, co-founder and Chairman of FIRE (Foundation for Individual Rights in Education) and a regular columnist for The Boston Phoenix, about how federal criminal laws have become dangerously disconnected from the English common law tradition and how prosecutors can pin arguable federal crimes on any one of us, for even the most seemingly innocuous behavior. Three Felonies a Day: How the Feds Target the Innocent. The average professional in this country wakes up in the morning, goes to work, comes home, eats dinner, and then goes to sleep, unaware that he or she has likely committed several federal crimes that day. Why? The answer lies in the very nature of modern federal criminal laws, which have exploded in number but also become impossibly broad and vague. In Three Felonies a Day, Harvey A. Silverglate reveals how federal criminal laws have become dangerously disconnected from the English common law tradition and how prosecutors can pin arguable federal crimes on any one of us, for even the most seemingly innocuous behavior. The volume of federal crimes in recent decades has increased well beyond the statute books and into the morass of the Code of Federal Regulations, handing federal prosecutors an additional trove of vague and exceedingly complex and technical prohibitions to stick on their hapless targets. The dangers spelled out in Three Felonies a Day do not apply solely to “white collar criminals,” state and local politicians, and professionals. No social class or profession is safe from this troubling form of social control by the executive branch, and nothing less than the integrity of our constitutional democracy hangs in the balance.
* Wikipedia entry: On August 5, 2010, lawyers for Rubashkin filed a motion for new trial after having discovered, that Judge Reade was more involved in planning the 2008 immigration raid at Agriprocessors′ Postville plant than previously disclosed, claiming that “federal law and U.S. Supreme Court rulings would have required Reade to remove herself from the trial.”[29] On October 27, 2010, Judge Reade denied the motion.[30]
On January 3, 2011, lawyers for Rubashkin filed an appeal for a new trial with the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals in St. Louis. In the brief, four arguments for a new trial were made. According to the brief, government documents that surfaced after Rubashkin’s conviction and not made available to the defense showed that Reade was involved in the planning for the federal immigration raid of the Postville plant in May 2008, which it sees as collusion with the prosecution. Reade′s “excessive coziness” with prosecutors planning the raid raised doubts about her impartiality in the case, the brief claims, and states that as a result Reade should have recused herself, and that Rubashkin is entitled to a new trial or, at a minimum, an evidentiary hearing.[31]
Following the filing of this appeal, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL) and Washington Legal Foundation (WLF) filed amicus briefs supporting Rubashkin′s appeal for a new trial.[32] What has united the three groups is the involvement of the judge in the case with the prosecution, as argued by Rubashkin’s defense team, which, according to ACLU′s Iowa legal director Randall Wilson, “immediately gave the appearance of unfairness.”[33] The ACLU brief says: “Mr. Rubashkin’s conviction should be vacated and he should get his ‘day in court,’ with a tribunal that is not an arm of the prosecution. Due Process demands it. The Separation of Powers Doctrine demands it.”
* Folks, the danger is real. Don’t start off with an Alsatian. Begin with a Chihuaha and work your way up gradually.
* Have you ever tasted the sublimity of God’s kiss, like the one He gave to Moshe? There was this blonde ninth grader who taught me, a mighty 11th grader, to kiss. It was a Saturday night. Jan. 1, 1983. Sugar Bowl. She wore Lipsmacker. I love Lipsmacker. I particularly love the strawberry flavor.
* Did you ever play Seven Minutes in Heaven? I didn’t. I never even got to play Doctor. I feel like I really missed out in childhood. Perhaps that’s why I am the way I am?
* Can a Reform synagogue ever get too gay?
* Should we restore polygamy? The Jerusalem Post reports:
A new organization is trying to reinstate polygamy into mainstream Orthodox Judaism, despite it being against the contemporary norm of Jewish law, and prohibited by the state.
The idea is the brainchild of Habayit Hayehudi Hashalem (The Complete Jewish Household).
It is being promoted as the Jewish solution for the abundance of single women, the Arab demographic threat and the male predicament of seeking extramarital relations.
A small advertisement over the weekend in the broadly circulated Shabbat Beshabato, a hand-out distributed in synagogues nationwide dealing with the weekly Torah portion and contemporary issues, quoted a paragraph from senior Sephardi adjudicator Rabbi Ovadia Yosef’s Yabi’a Omer treatise, in which he wrote that it is a mistake for non-Ashkenazim to follow Rabbeinu Gershom’s “stringency,” according to which it is prohibited for a man to marry more than one wife. Approximately 1,000 years ago, Rabbeinu Gershom of Mainz, Germany, issued resonating reforms on a variety of subjects pertaining to Jewish life, and those who transgressed them were liable to be socially excommunicated. Perhaps the most well-known of these prohibitions is to not to be married to more than one woman at a time, despite the fact that this was common in biblical times.
The man behind the ad, Rabbi Yehezkel Sopher, saw no legal problem in his initiative.
“This is not about secular people who abide by the rules of the state, rather religious people. Whoever wants to take another wife – the Torah does not object to it,” Sopher told The Jerusalem Post. “We work according to the Shulhan Aruch, there are rules here.”
As for Rabbeinu Gershom’s excommunication ban, even for those who would as Ashkenazim have followed it – “that has been over for hundreds of years by now,” as its end date was the end of the fifth millennium according to the Jewish year count, i.e. some 700 years ago, he said.
Avraham tells me: I just mentioned tp rabbs a great way for you guys to raise money for your show.
On the torah talk page photoshop you and rabbs in mankinis. With the Heading: “Who want to see Levi and Rabbs pillow fight in mankinis?” Do a paypal link “If we raise $500 we wil have a pillow fight in mankinis.”
Dude, people know Rabbs is a party animal and your kinda reserved so I think the clash of personalities will definitely boost the ratings.
Luke says: And we could add a competing link for people to pay never to see such a shanda.
Avraham: No, but then again reb moshe and the rav wouldn’t interupt their torah discussions with reminiscent sexual escapades from the past.
I sent this essay to my friends.
Khunrum replies: “Much too long. I believe all you need to know about women is to get a pre nup. That said, I didn’t and my honey has promised to return to Bangkok with my 401K should it not work out.”
Jack responded: A rant by a loser for other losers to read, as he acknowledges (and in case you are wondering, I skimmed about half of it). I can boil it all down to six words:
Sperm is cheap, eggs are expensive.
Now, beyond that, my advice is:
1. Get it done (marry) when you are young and can fairly court a woman who is young (i.e., teens to early twenties). Marry young just like most of our ancestors used to do. More to the point, marry young to a young woman. The longer we wait, the worse it gets. Nature did not build women to spend ten years dating.
2. If you can’t get it done when you are young, get rich and then try for a young woman, like Russian billionaires do it.
3. If neither 1 nor 2 works, go to a hooker.
4. If 1 – 3 don’t work for you, detach yourself from American culture (which you should anyway for numerous other reasons) and look for someone from another culture. I am not talking about mail order anything, just about looking to cultures whose women have superior traits.
Otherwise, we’ll always have psycho women.
On page 315 of his 1993 book Case Closed, author Gerald Posner writes: “But if the President was struck in the head by a bullet fired from the rear, then why does he jerk so violently backward on the Zapruder film, which recorded the assassination? To most lay people, the rapid backward movement at the moment of the head shot means the President was struck from the front.”
When Itek Optical Systems did a computer enhancement of the Zapruder film for a CBS documentary, it discovered that when the bullet (the final of the three fired by Lee Harvey Oswald) hit JFK, he first jerked forward 2.3 inches and then began his movement backward.
So why did the president jerk backwards when hit in the back of the head by a bullet fired from behind him? The bullet destroyed the President’s cortex. That caused a neuromuscular spasm. That sent neurologic impulses from the brain down the spine to every muscle in the body. “The body then stiffens,” said Dr. John Latimer, “With the strongest muscles predominating. These are the muscles of the back and neck.”
So that’s why when most people encounter a stimulus, their first reaction is to jerk their head back and down and to compress their shoulders. These muscles are the strongest. When they are activated by the brain, they automatically contract.
With Alexander Technique, we learn about this fear reflex. When this reflex becomes a habit, it tends to lead people to walk around with a head permanently tilted back, with the neck and shoulders compressed.
This makes movement (as well as emotions and thinking) awkward. Freedom comes from letting go of this fight or flight reflex by releasing the tendency to compress the neck and the shoulders and to consciously free the neck and to release the head forward and up (the opposite direction from the back and down fear reflex).
Zapruder 313 – This shows the head shot to John F. Kennedy

Zapruder 335 – Connally is slumped into his wife’s lap. Kennedy, now mortally wounded leans toward Jackie.
Yes, that blob on the side of his head is his skull and scalp peeling outward and down.

This essay is great stuff. Here’s a taste:
MYTH: Women want love and affection. Women want to be treated well. If you treat a woman well, she’ll treat you well.
TRUTH: Young women want whatever other young women want. They’re herd creatures. If you lavish a woman with love and affection she’ll think you’re doing it because nobody else wants you (which may be true) and she’ll dump you. In fact, if you do anything that betrays that you’re a loser that other women won’t touch, she’ll dump you. Why? Because she wants to impress her friends with what a great catch she’s made, and if she thinks that they wouldn’t want you, then she doesn’t want you either.
There are only three exceptions to this rule. The first exception is psychos, otherwise known as “witches, bitches, and crazy ladies.” They’ll stay with you because nobody else wants them, or because you’re the only one who put up with their abuse. The second exception is women who like to “fix men up”: those women who like to take “broken” men and turn them into the man they want. These women are single because a mature man will recognize that these women don’t want him… they want to turn him into someone else. The third exception is that once in a long time you meet a woman who isn’t psycho, still wants to stay with you when she finds out that you’re not super stud, and doesn’t want to change you into someone else. This is the one you marry.
BITTER MYTH: Women are out for money.
TRUTH: Women are out for status and fun or for security, depending upon their age. A few women are out for cold cash, but not too many. Status-seeking women aren’t ready to settle down. They just wanna have fun, and they want their girlfriends to know it. They’re looking for a guy they can dangle in front of their friends and say, “Look what I got!” You don’t have to have money to be that guy, you just have to come across as desirable. Of course if you have money you don’t need to do anything else, but having no money isn’t the end of the world. The women who are out for security have had their wild fling and want to settle down. They want a guy who can provide a stable base for the future (and that includes finances).
MYTH: I should find one woman I like who likes me, and stick with her through thick and thin.
TRUTH: This is the biggest mistake I ever made. I used to be loyal to whomever I was with, even when someone better came along. All that happened was that I missed out on some great opportunities while I hung on with losers that ended up dumping me anyway. Do this if the two of you are getting married; once you’ve tied the knot it’s a whole other can of worms. However, if you’re just dating, do exactly the opposite. In very subtle ways you have to let her know that although you like her, there are lots of other women out there and you still notice them. Glance at tits and legs. Smile at and chat with pretty ladies, even while she’s with you (you’re just being friendly, of course). This is the most important thing I’ve learned about dating in a decade. I even thought of dating WASP bitches again, so long as I could keep this in mind. Never, never let her know that she’s the only game in town. As soon as she believes that she’s your “everything,” she’ll start whining and bitching and making demands.
Think of it like buying a car. If you let the salesman know that this is your dream car, that you’ve stayed awake nights thinking about buying exactly this car, do you think the price will go down? Of course not! He’ll jack the price up as high as he thinks he can go and still have you buy it. If you tell your girl that you’ve dreamed all of your life of going out with someone like her, do you think she’ll smile and kiss you and things will go on as before? Of course not! She’ll realize that you’ll put up with more of her bad habits, and that she can put up with fewer of yours, and the bitching will start. She’ll try to make the relationship as comfortable for her as possible and still keep it going. Remember the car salesman? Remember the attitude that “this is a nice car, but there are hundreds of other great ones, including that one across the street”, even as your heart is thumping and you’re practically drooling? If you’re just dating, this is the attitude to take.
…Second, and more important, women want to maintain the self-delusion that they already understand men. Women everywhere claim that they understand men and that “men are simple creatures.” The truth is that women haven’t a clue where most men are coming from and furthermore they care only insofar as they want to control us. Nonetheless, they want to maintain the fiction that they have us figured out.
It’s a pride and status thing. A woman who doesn’t “understand” her man can’t control him, and a woman who can’t control her man is a loser. The more you try to explain yourself, the more complex and multi-dimensional you become (a.k.a. “difficult”), and the less she can claim to understand you.
…TRUTH: Women never stop complaining. For them, it’s a sport. Some complain more than others, but none of them will ever stop, any more than one day men will stop discussing football. Men have built civilizations, created law, invented husbandry (that’s keeping domestic animals by the way, not marriage; women invented marriage), built skyscrapers, invented cars, washing machines, antibiotics, toilets, computers, and microwave ovens, and generally dragged us out of caves and into condos. Don’t kid yourself: men did it all. If it were up to women we’d still be living in caves and dying at 20. I know that men did it all because I know why they did it: they hoped that it would stop women complaining. It didn’t.
