The average IQ of the Dominican Republic is 82, lower than the 85 average of American blacks, who are the smartest blacks in the world because on average they are one-quarter white.

It should be a routine part of our national dialogue to recognize that nature has color coded people so we can make instantaneous decisions about how smart and how dangerous and how compatible to us they are. On average, Ashkenazi Jews have IQs around 115, Orientals around 105, goyim of 100, Sephardim of 97, Mizrahim of 92, American hispanics of 90 and American blacks of 85.

I don’t know about you, but when I think of Dominicans, I think of brilliance.

Major League Baseball on Friday said ESPN Radio host Colin Cowherd owes Dominican players an apology for on-air remarks made a day earlier concerning Dominicans and their intelligence related to baseball.

In a statement, MLB said it “condemns the remarks made by Colin Cowherd, which were inappropriate, offensive and completely inconsistent with the values of our game” and that he “owes our players of Dominican origin, and Dominican people generally, an apology.”

On Friday, Cowherd addressed his remarks from Thursday.

“I could’ve made the point without using one country, and there’s all sorts of smart people from the Dominican Republic,” Cowherd said during The Herd on Friday. “I could’ve said a third of baseball’s talent is being furnished from countries with economic hardships, therefore educational hurdles. For the record, I used the Dominican Republic because they’ve furnished baseball with so many great players.”

Major League Baseball issued its statement on Friday afternoon — after Cowherd’s show had aired.

Cowherd on Friday cited reports and statistics to back up what he said about the country’s ranking when it comes to primary education.

“I understand that when you mention a specific country, they get offended,” Cowherd said. “I get it. I do. And for that, I feel bad. I do. But I have four reports in front of me … where there are discussions of major deficiencies in the education sector at all levels. … It wasn’t a shot at them. It was data. Five, seven years ago I talked about the same subject. Was I clunky? Perhaps. Did people not like my tone? I get it. Sometimes my tone stinks.

“I think when you host a radio show, just like Jon Stewart hosts a show, I think sometimes I bring up stuff … that makes people cringe. I’m not saying there’s not intelligent, educated people from the Dominican Republic. I cringe at the data, too.”

Tony Clark, executive director of the MLB Players Association, also issued a statement in which he took issue with Cowherd’s response Friday to his original comments.

“As a veteran of 15 MLB seasons, I can assure you that our sport is infinitely more complex than some in the media would have you believe,” Clark said. “To suggest otherwise is ignorant, and to make an ignorant point by denigrating the intelligence of our Dominican members was not ‘clunky’ — it was offensive.

“These recent comments are particularly disappointing when viewed against the backdrop of the important work being done to celebrate and improve the cultural diversity of our game. Baseball’s partners and stakeholders should help such efforts, not undermine them.”

There were 83 Dominican players on Opening Day rosters this year, representing about 10 percent of all players in the majors.

The flap stems from Cowherd’s comments on Thursday, which were made while debating whether it was difficult for a front-office executive to take over managerial duties — using current Miami Marlins general manager/manager Dan Jennings as an example.

“It’s baseball,” Cowherd said Thursday. “You don’t think a general manager can manage? Like it’s impossible? The game is too complex? I’ve never bought into that, ‘Baseball’s just too complex.’ Really? A third of the sport is from the Dominican Republic. The Dominican Republic has not been known in my lifetime as having world-class academic abilities. A lot of those kids come from rough backgrounds and have not had opportunities academically that other kids from other countries have.

“Baseball is like any sport. It’s mostly instincts. A sports writer who covers baseball could go up to Tony La Russa and have a real baseball argument, and Tony would listen and it would seem reasonable. There’s not a single NFL writer in the country who could diagram a play for Bill Belichick. You know, we get caught up in this whole ‘thinking-man’s game.’ Is it in the same family? Most people could do it. It’s not being a concert pianist. It’s in the same family.”

* Is this a canny strategy to make such cities out of reach for people whose labor isn’t worth $15 an hour? And not only will there be no low-paying work available, but there won’t be any cheap, low-margin businesses around; there will only be pricey places, and poorer people, even the ones without jobs, will have to move somewhere else if they want to shop in a Dollar General or eat a Big Mac. As with the housing, immigrant businesses will play into this somehow, the places that don’t really pay official wages to their self-employed owners and relatives. Also, immigrant laborers will be as exempt from a $15 an hour wage floor as they are from any other legal restriction on their ability to work.

* The percentage of Whites determines the crime rate, the quality of life and school and of course that all-important “property value” which is duck-speak for blacks. More Whites = more people wanting to come and live, more blacks = more people trying to leave.

* I want “cuckservative” to be the word of 2015-’16. I want to hear media outlets like NPR, The New Yorker, PBS and the CBC feel the need to explain it to their sheltered older audiences. I want the word “cuckservative” to turn the world world upside down like Willy Wonka’s last golden ticket. I want Glen Beck to cry about the word and for David Frum to claim it was refined in Iranian centrifuges and made using Neville Chamberlain’s secret recipe of 11 herbs and spices. I want Barbara Bush to hear the word.

* Thomas Sowell writes: A recent story in a San Francisco newspaper says that some restaurants and grocery stores in Oakland’s Chinatown have closed after the city’s minimum wage was raised. Other small businesses there are not sure they are going to survive, because many depend on a thin profit margin and a high volume of sales.

At an angry meeting between local small-business owners and city officials, the local organization that had campaigned for the higher minimum wage was absent. They were probably some place congratulating themselves on having passed a humane “living wage” law. The group most affected was also absent — inexperienced and unskilled young people, who need a job to get some experience, even more than they need the money.

It is not a breakthrough on the frontiers of knowledge that minimum-wage laws reduce employment opportunities for the young and the unskilled of any age. It has been happening around the world, for generation after generation, and in the most diverse countries. It is not just the young who are affected when minimum-wage rates are set according to the fashionable notions of third parties, with little or no regard for whether everyone is productive enough to be worth paying the minimum wage they set. You can check this out for yourself.

Go to your local public library and pick up a copy of the distinguished British magazine The Economist. Whether it is the current issue or a back issue doesn’t matter. Spain, Greece, and South Africa will be easy to locate in the table near the back, which lists data for various countries. Just look down the unemployment column for countries with unemployment rates around 25 percent. Spain, Greece, and South Africa are always there, whether or not there is a recession. Why? Because they have very generous minimum-wage laws. While you are there, you can look up the unemployment rate for Switzerland, which has no minimum-wage law at all.

Over the years, I have never seen the unemployment rate in Switzerland reach as high as 4 percent. Back in 2003, The Economist reported: “Switzerland’s unemployment neared a five-year high of 3.9% in February.” In the United States, back in what liberals think of as the bad old days before there was a federal minimum-wage law, the annual unemployment rate during Calvin Coolidge’s last four years as president ranged from a high of 4.2 percent to a low of 1.8 percent.

Low-income minorities are often hardest hit by the unemployment that follows in the wake of minimum-wage laws. The last year when the black unemployment rate was lower than the white unemployment rate was 1930, the last year before there was a federal minimum-wage law. The following year, the Davis-Bacon Act of 1931 was passed, requiring minimum wages in the construction industry. This was in response to complaints that construction companies with non-union black construction workers were able to underbid construction companies with unionized white workers (whose unions would not admit blacks).

Looking back over my own life, I realize now how lucky I was when I left home in 1948, at the age of 17, to become self-supporting. The unemployment rate for 16- and 17-year-old blacks at that time was under 10 percent. Inflation had made the minimum-wage law, passed ten years earlier, irrelevant. But it was only a matter of time before liberal compassion led to repeated increases in the minimum wage, to keep up with inflation. The annual unemployment rate for black teenagers has never been less than 20 percent in the past 50 years and has ranged as high as over 50 percent. You can check these numbers in a table of official government statistics on page 42 of Professor Walter Williams’s book Race and Economics. Incidentally, the black-white gap in unemployment rates for 16- and 17-year-olds was virtually nonexistent back in 1948. But the black teenage unemployment rate has been more than double that for white teenagers for every year since 1971. This is just one of many policies that allow liberals to go around feeling good about themselves, while leaving havoc in their wake.
