The Conservative/Neo-Conservative Divide On Race

Through the 1960s, the flagship Conservative magazine National Review took racial differences for granted and fought on the side of white segregation around the world. By contrast, much of the burgeoning neoconservative movement pushed for a racially blind approach.

On pg. 165 of his book on James J. Kilpatrick, William P. Hustwit wrote:

The northern newconservative journalist Irving Kristol
cautioned William F. Buckley to drop any criticism of the 1964 Civil Rights Act “in terms of racial differences.” To do otherwise would be
“political folly” and injure the conservative movement.

Jews, Asians, Goyim & Schvartzes

Williamsburg. A Satmar drives up to a ba’al teshuva baker with his delivery truck filled with baked goods and tells the man, “Get your schvartze to unload my truck.” The ba’al teshuva took great offense at the term “schvartze”, pointing out that “Fred, my schvartze, is Mexican.”

For outsiders, “schvartze” is how traditional orthodox Jews refer to blacks, it is the Yiddish word for black, and it is no more pejorative than the words “goy” or “Chinese” or “orange”, but ba’al teshuvas, who grew up with secular inclusionist values tend to take offence at it.

I’ve made it a crusade to reclaim the word “schvartze” for the good guys, as in, “Baruch HaShem, my daughter’s marrying a schvartze.”

Chaim Amalek: “I understand that there are secret race tracks in the New York area where chussids race shvartzes against one another the way the goyim do horses.”

James J. Kilpatrick: Salesman for Segregation II

I’m reading this new book. I’m interested in how the conservative thinker James J. Kilpatrick, as much as possible, made the case for racial segregation without talking about race. Regnery published Kilpatrick’s first book, The Sovereign States in 1956.

From page 68 of William P. Hustwit’s biography of Kilpatrick:

Protecting southern values and traditions served one purpose of The Sovereign States, but it also became the book’s drawback. Although the published version of The Sovereign States came closer to diminishing race as a factor in the school controversy than the original draft, it made the kind of racial arguments that hampered the South’s case with the rest of the country. Initially, Kilpatrick intended to present a case for the South in the last section of The Sovereign States. He portrayed southerners as a people with sophisticated constitutional ideas, but he also devoted seventeen pages to the deficiencies of Negroes as a race. In the final adaptation, only two pages mentioned the inferiority of African Americans. One of Regnery’s editors, Charles Lee, convinced Kilpatrick to reduce statistics on blacks’ illegitimate births, illiteracy, and venereal diseases. The original manuscript contained a chapter called “On the Merits” that introduced a number of sociological, psychological, and anthropological arguments against blacks as well. Regnery’s staff seemed more racially sensitive than Kilpatrick, and the content on African Americans nearly disappeared from the book…

“The experience of generations has demonstrated that in the south (whatever may be true of the Negro in urban areas of the North and West) the Negro race, as a race, has palpably different social, moral, and behavioral standards from those which obtain among the white race,” he scoffed. African Americans corroded civilization through their venereal diseases, marital infidelity, and ignorance, which could hinder white children’s educations in mixed schools.

Marilyn Monroe Studied Alexander Technique

Alexander teacher Betsy Polatin writes:

I have taught this technique to thousands of students all over the world, and people often ask me, “Should I swim? Or do Pilates? Or yoga?” I answer, “It’s not so much what you do but how you do it.” For example, in your yoga class, when you do any type of back bend, whether “Cobra” on the floor or “Sun Salutation” while standing, you want to be sure that you lengthen your spine first and then bend your whole spine, not just your lower back. This way you are using one of Alexander’s principles, lengthening, to improve whatever exercise you choose to do.

The Alexander technique doesn’t call for extreme measures that lead to unattainable results. Rather than only paying attention to your body through exercising for one hour a day and then slumping and ignoring your physical patterns for the other 23 hours, the technique teaches you to bring awareness to your movements throughout the day. You can incorporate simple tips throughout your daily routine to help you achieve your wellness goals.

You can do awareness exercises that bring conscious attention to how you’re using your body while moving or while staying still.
You can monitor your upright stance as you run errands or take an evening stroll.
You can pay attention to your feet on the floor as you sit at your desk throughout the day.
You can determine if you are using unnecessary effort in simple tasks such as brushing your teeth or pressing down the keys on your computer.

I want to become a community organizer

Which community should I organize? I don’t want to put much effort into this.

Chaim Amalek writes: What a great idea. I suggest: 1. Ashkenazi Yidden from your old temple who feel impoverished and disempowered because they make less than 500k/year 2. Persian women sick of living under their father’s thumbs; 3. white people generally, but especially white heteronormative Christian men; 4. ex porn women who at age 25 are too old to work in porn anyway and need a leg up in life; 5. young ladies who, because of their fantastic good looks everyone is afraid to hire.

Is This the Most Shocking Story of a Woman “Chained” in Her Orthodox Marriage?

On this episode of Up Close, we hear directly from a woman “chained” in her marriage and whose husband is now marrying someone else. Lonna Kin has been trying for ten years to get a Jewish divorce, or get, from her now-ex-husband. She separated from her husband, (Israel) Meir Kin, in January 2005, and their civil divorce was finalized in May 2007. Yet Meir Kin has yet to give her the Jewish divorce document that would free her from her Jewish marriage and allow her to perhaps remarry and move on with her life — even though as this interview airs he is scheduled to marry another woman. Lonna is known as an agunah, or “chained woman,” stuck in her Jewish marriage. She shares her story, for the first time, in this episode of Up Close.

Because of the importance of the topic, we are making the complete interview with Lonna Kin available online in the special extended webcast of the episode above.

And then, what do we mean when speak about “evil?” Why do we act immorally, and why do some of us do so more than others? Author Andrew Michael Flescher offers some answers to these questions in his new book Moral Evil and on this episode of Up Close.

Rabbinic Guidance Sought For Insurance Operation Busted By The SEC?

LK posts to FailedMessiah: “I know the accused people personally and even worked on the project. All of these claims are fabricated and, frankly, I’m shocked that reporters and the media can publish without knowing any of the details of the case. Everything we processed was on the up-and-up and everything was legal. These men are honest, hardworking people. And, by the way, 100% of the proceeds went to charity. Besides the fact, that rabbinic guidance was sought before embarking on the project at all.”

There’s always something interesting going on with Aish HaTorah. Michael Horowitz responds to SEC investigation.

Outcast Yid posts: “Los Angeles’s Jewish Journal is investigating these crimes. The most repugnant is “Harold” Ten, or Rabbi Heshy Ten, who runs Bikur Cholim, an organization that helps sick Jews. He created a new non-profit, Raphael Health, to serve the terminally ill; it was all a front for collecting confidential information about the dying. He personally “invested” in one of these instruments.”

* I made some stupid mistakes at work.
Friend: “Do you want to leave or do you want me to get rid of you?”
Luke: “I’d like a bullet to the temple.”
Friend: “Which temple? Aish HaTorah?”
Luke: “Only after they take out a life insurance policy on me.”

* I’m trying to figure out if the fruit bar is kosher.
Secular Jewish Friend: “Put your wallet next to the bar and if the bar reaches into your wallet, you know it’s kosher.”

How Can You Mistreat People In Your Country Illegally?

I don’t really care if Israel or America or any country mistreats those who are in the country illegally. That’s how you should deal with infiltrators. Maybe we should announce, “Every illegal alien still in the country in 60 days gets capital punishment.” Execute a few and the rest may self-deport. Notice how the more successful Israel becomes, the more people around the world try to pull the scam that they are Jewish? Now Israel has 120,000 Ethiopian “Jews” with average IQs of 63.

If somebody is in your country illegally, he is not a citizen and has no rights under your law. The Geneva Conventions don’t apply because he’s not a soldier in uniform. He has no rights. The more gently you treat him, the more you encourage foreigners to infiltrate your country. Sometimes you have to be harsh to criminals to protect your own citizens, which should be the first order of government.

How long until we have an American Crimea situation? “Southwest once belonged to Mexico, as the Crimea belonged to Russia before it was given to Ukraine. The immigrant Mexican population apparently can’t even stomach the sight of American flags in public schools without resorting to violence—and the federal government sides with the invaders. A few decades from now (if not sooner), what do you think the results of a referendum in Southern California would be?”

Jewish Journal Reports On SEC Investigations Of Richard & Michael Horowitz, Marc Firestone, Hershy Ten

Michael Horowitz responds. Jonah Lowenfeld writes this morning:

Richard Horowitz settled with the SEC for more than $365,000; Firestone settled for more than $180,000. Neither Richard Horowitz nor Firestone responded to emails or to a message left at their firm’s office.
The SEC also settled with Harold Ten, who is the president of Bikur Cholim, a Los Angeles-based nonprofit that, according to its Web site, provides services to seriously ill Jews and their families. According to the SEC, Ten, an Orthodox rabbi who also goes by the name Hershy or Heshy, established a new charity, Raphael Health, which he presented as providing services to terminally ill patients.
In fact, the charity, according the SEC, merely served to identify terminally ill patients to be named as the annuitants on the fraudulent policies, and received compensation from Horowitz for doing so. Ten deceived both hospice care providers and a number of patients in their care in order to obtain private medical information that allowed him to ascertain that the patients were, in fact, dying. In November 2007, Ten himself purchased an annuity on the life of one unnamed woman, who was dying of stomach cancer. Ten invested $1 million, and when she died, less than one month later, Ten realized a profit of $50,000.
Ten agreed to pay the SEC more than $290,000. He did not respond to an email or to a phone message left at the office of Bikur Cholim.
While the scheme, which according to the SEC lasted for at least two years during 2007 and 2008, generated hundreds of thousands of dollars in commissions and profits for investors and the brokers involved, the terminally ill individuals who were named as the annuitants on the policies received next to no compensation at all – between $250 and $500 apiece, according to the SEC’s order against Ten.
“This was a calculated fraud exploiting terminally ill patients,” said Julie M. Riewe, co-chief of the SEC Enforcement Division’s Asset Management Unit in a statement. “Michael Horowitz and others stole their most private information for personal monetary gain.”

Muslim Preacher Released After Raping and Killing Daughter Because he ‘Doubted her Virginity’

Link. Chaim Amalek says: “We are all so very quick to judge other peoples’ cultures, but what about our own sins? I say let he who lives in a glass house cast the first stone. (I know that is not exactly how it goes, but they no longer teach that sort of stuff, or at least did not when I was a kid attending Ethical Culture School.) Also, diversity takes many forms, and rather than damn it when it offends us, perhaps we should all try to see things from the other fellows perspective. Perhaps she really was a slut and ruining his good family’s name.”
