Chaim Amalek emails: “For the first time since I moved here years ago, I am seeing more and more the signs of real economic downturn in NYC – empty stores, stores closing shop suddenly, including some huge huge retailers like Circuit City, Virgin Records, etc. giving up their signature leases and announcing that they are going under in a few months. With respect to the face of the city that you see on television, New York without loose money is like Hollywood without breasts.”
