I Want To Lease A Car

Anyone have any good advice for me? I don’t even know what type of car I want to lease. Just something cheap. lukeisback@gmail.com

I called up carsdirect.com. I said I didn’t know what type of car I wanted. They said they usually steer people towards the Honda Civic.

I decided on two doors rather than four doors (cheaper), decided on air conditioning and the stereo, and black for the color. I’ll put down $2500 and pay $200 a month for 36 months.

I’ve got good credit. I’ve never failed to repay a debt. I’m always on time with my payments. Only this year have I gone into credit card debt (for the first time since I emerged from it in 2000 — I wrote my first book while living on my credit cards in 1995-1996, stacking up a debt of $20,000 that took me four years to pay off).

The mileage limit is 12,000 a year.

Over the past 13 years with my van, I’ve driven less than 6,000 miles a year (and that includes a trip to Vancouver and back in 2001).

I wonder how much I’ll get on my trade-in considering I just put a used engine in (for $3,000).

I know I’ll definitely feel better about myself driving a nice car rather than a rusting junker.

Someone came over today to help me with my car troubles and I told her to "Go away and leave me alone! Go!"

I need to go into my cave to struggle with my problems. After a while, I’ll emerge and be more human.

But catch me in the middle of a crisis and I’m tunnel-visioned and not susceptible to suggestions.

Nor amenable to hugs.
