Praying For Unbelievers

People, usually secularists, are often asking me to pray for them. Most of the time it just trips off their tongues without much thought.

A friend just told me: " So, if you ever say prayers for us wretched unbelievers, now’d be the time… "

I don’t pray much. It usually feels like an empty ritual to me. I hardly pray for myself let alone for anyone else. I just say the prayers in the book, though that usually does open me up to talking to God a bit in my own words. I always leave prayer feeling better. It’s a good ritual but boring as hell. I prefer yoga.

Secular people seem to more often associate religious people such as myself with prayer more than with righteous behavior.
