Lady Ghostbusters

Comments at Steve Sailer:

* Lady Ghostbusters. Some comments from you tube:

-I check back here every so often so I can laugh at the amount of dislikes.

-Drinking bleach is funnier than this trailer

-Society isn’t making Gay Man more attractive, just Straight Woman less attractive

-i do not know why this trailer has so many dislikes. im defiantly watching this when it comes out in theaters

-when feminists are trying to take over, we get this movie.

-Who actually believes a bunch of women would come together & start their own company instead leeching off an already male established one because they got quotas to fulfill?

-This movie looks like it should go straight to dvd/blu-ray

* Ghostbusters was bottled lightening, it can’t be repeated. The originals had a chemistry that made the file one of a kind. Not to mention the guy who came up with it Ivan Rietman was talented as heck.

Even as a cartoon series, it was popular – some 600 episodes were made IIRC.

This though has stinker written all over it. They basically had to bully or bribe the originals to endorse this dud. Really a all female team with no chemistry? Excellent way to give the middle-finger to the original fans and keep the younger males away from seeing what they will rightly view as chick flick made for the watchers of The View.

The other problem is Hollywood doesn’t do comedy very well anymore. They’ve become so PC/MC they’ve been reduced to potty style humor as found in Adam Sandler movies or serious unfunny and annoying garbage like the Fokkers. Ben Stiller is not funny and neither are the writers.

Give me the Rockford Files any day.

* Hollywood has turned into a Soviet Propaganda mill. The entire selling point of the original was these guys were losers who wanted to play it safe by staying in college their whole lives and got kicked out for bogus research. The Ghostbusters was their desperate attempt to cash in on their weird esoteric research in college because they didn’t want to get real jobs and be working slubs. They ended up accidental heroes because of Zool and an ancient cult trying to take over the world when at the beginning they were just in it for money.
These Pravda card carrying commies are so heavy into politics and feminist grrrl power, that they missed the entire point of the original film and made this into a girl superhero team. Yeah, no. The idea that people with careers and other options would purposely try to form a superhero team to fight ghosts is something you would expect to hear from people involuntarily confined to an insane asylum. No one in their right minds would leave a career to be a ghostbuster. These idiots are so politically motivated they don’t even see how dumb this plot really is…

* Last night we watched “Love Story” (man were the 70s ever dirty and drab, must be all the leaded gasoline and pollution in the air) and then reading about it on Wikipedia I see that they filmed a sequel, “Oliver’s Story.” Oliver’s female interest is Candace Bergen, playing an heir to the Bonwit Teller fortune. I wondered whatever happened to Bonwit Teller, so I read the Wikipedia entry and low and behold, Donald Trump bought their flagship store on 5th Avenue, tore it down and built Trump Tower in it’s place. When I started reading about “Love story” I did not expect that I’d end up on Donald Trump.

It’s kind of like when you buy a car and then you see that model of car everywhere on the street but had never really noticed it before you bought one for yourself. Trump is Everywhere sung to the tune of Elvis is Everywhere.

* That’s worth watching. On one level, it just cashes in on the original hit. The story is anticlimactic and has nowhere to go. After all, LOVE STORY worked as a romantic tear-jerker. With Jenny gone, where can OLIVER’S STORY go? The plot about Oliver’s ‘good work’ is pretty weak.

Still, it’s watchable enough, but then suddenly, it has the the only moment in either movie that has the ring of truth.
I like LOVE STORY — saw it as kid when impressionable — , but it’s all formula. Even the scenes of raw hurt are exactly what you’d expect and arrive on schedule. Of course the couple must have a fight and reconcile in some special way. “Love means never having to say you’re sorry.” I don’t know what it means but it sounds good.

Everything is contrived — rich wasp boy and poor dago girl — , and even the arty moments are like symbolism 101, like the last walk in the snow together against the backdrop of pure white. It is shameless hokum but works(like the stuff in Dr. Zhivago), and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

LOVE STORY copped some of the New Hollywood style of the late 60s and early 70s. It has an element of grit and realism, but it is really just formula.

But the formula begins to unravel in OLIVER’S STORY because the leftover material is so thin. After all, the only reason we cared in the first place was because Oliver fell in love and then lost the girl. So OS has nowhere to go. But then, this is precisely why OS is more interesting. Since the formula has grown weak, there’s need to flesh out the character, and the result is like a mid-level Woody Allen or Paul Mazursky film. (Or a kinder version of Nichols’ CARNAL KNOWLEDGE.)

But then, bang, Oliver’s outburst at Candace Bergen in the following scene(don’t see it if you don’t want spoilers) really rings true. It feels like genuine pain of life than part of the plan, the formula. For that moment alone, OS is worth seeing. Another good thing about OS is the handling of father-son relationship.

The movie ends on a more hopeful note than the novel though. I prefer the novel’s closing sentiment. “Sometimes I ask myself what would I be if Jenny were alive. And then I answer: I would also be alive.”

Erich Segal was pretty good schlock writer. His novel THE CLASS is a shameless piece of drivel but I ate it up.

>>It’s a romantic tear-jerker. It hits all the right notes, pushes all the right buttons.

You’re right. Ali McGraw was no actress, and the notion of her as a Radcliffe girl studying classical music is hilarious.

But it has all the right ingredients about love, class, father and son, etc.

True, it’s hackwork, but it’s pleasant hackwork, like BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID, a kind of populist version of both WILD BUNCH and MIDNIGHT COWBOY.
LOVE STORY is a crowd-pleaser. Just listen to the music.

Does it look ‘ugly’? I love the 70s look and missed it in the 80s when everything looked so slick and shiny. The MIAMI VICE look? Never liked it thought I got used to it.

A much better Harvard movie is PAPER CHASE. I can understand how even Harvardites can see that one and feel sort of like ‘home’!
But I doubt if any Harvardite took LOVE STORY seriously. It is a fantasy about rich folks for the hoi polloi. We need some fantasy too.

Another thing… given the total degradation of culture with stuff like GILRS and JESSE AND CELESTE(this trash has to be seen to believed), LOVE STORY now does feel ‘classic’-like.

You gotta admit the ‘I care’ scene is nicely done, and it’s too bad we don’t have scenes like that anymore. We have millennials with their casual attitude sending texts to each other like ‘fuc* me in the butt’.

* Yeah, pretty much everyone who’s reviewed the film has noted it was propaganda. The left went ape-crazy praising the PC-propaganda of Star Wars: The Feminist Awakens. In fact, that was supposed to be a selling point in the reviews: see the latest Star Wars, because it’s all grrrl powered and diverse now!

It made money because of it’s franchise tag and because the studio/director went all out promising the hardcore fanbase that it wouldn’t be the prequels. But there’s only so much yoou can milk a franchise with if the sequel gives you diminishing returns.

The fact that the latest Star Wars made no cultural impact—no quotes being bandied about, no internet memes, no chatter after it was out of theaters—shows that the next sequel will have “disappointing” and “unexpectedly lower” returns than anticipated.

I mean, the most talked about parts of the movie is the references to the old franchise and return of a character from the original trilogy—Han, Leia, and, at the end, the mysterious Luke. That’s a bad thing for Disney; when your movie can only cosplay with the originals, and people are most interested in talking about, not your movie’s new characters or plot, but about old characters you shoehorned into your new movie—well, that means your movie wasn’t that memorable. Which means there isn’t much impetus outside of hardcore fans to go see the next one.

The director also remade the Star Trek films, and suffered the same fate: the first one was a glossy, cosplay remake with literal cultural impact where the most talked about parts were the appearance of a character from the original franchise (Nimoy’s Spock) and the references to the old series. No one remembered the first reboot after it was out of theaters, despite being an ostensible hit. The result? The second Star Trek reboot sequel (Star Trek Into Darkness) “unexpectedly” had “less than predicted” returns. Why? Simple: the movies were no longer Star Trek, but PC-addled action movies with the words Star Trek pasted on them.

* I actually do know one female commercial airline pilot. But she’s a lesbian type who degrades women more than males do. When she’s encountered other female pilots, she invariably tells people how bad they are at flying and how they only got their jobs because of PC. When she gets drunk she actually starts ranting about how women are too stupid to vote (except her). She’s very red pilly and basically will tell you that she’s an outlier in life and knows it. She’s also very pissed off at this Girlbusters movie (she’s a huge Bill Murray fan).

* Jenny does NOT despise Oliver for what he is. She admits part of what attracts her to him is his money and privilege. She is honest in that sense. And that’s what he likes about her. She is forthright. And she holds no grudge against his father and sort of understands the old man who, by the way, isn’t really a bigot(by his standards).

On the drive back, she says, “I love not only you, but also your name and your numeral. After all, it’s part of what you are.”

If anything, Oliver despises himself and for conflicted reasons. Being part of the 60s generation, he feels uneasy about his wasp privilege. He is the creation of Liberal Jewish Erich Segal. He feels his place in Harvard is so unearned. He wants to break free of the world he came from. But he is also worried that he is under-performing and failing to live up the standards of his grandfather and father. So, his reasons are both ‘liberal’ and ‘conservative’. He sees himself as failure by standards of both egalitarianism and meritocracy.
Also, he has problems with his father because the old man’s ways are passive/aggressive. He’s not a meanie like Mr. Potter of IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE. He’s a kindly person, but there’s no doubt he’s been nudging Oliver to excel since cradle and live up to the family name. If his father was a true meanie, Oliver could just hate him and that’d be that. But his father is difficult to hate. He’s no Darth Vader, though sort of like Vader after the mask comes off and he’s a good guy again.

I think there’s a similar dynamics in REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE. The son is partly angry with his pa because the old man is too ‘weak’. It’s not so much a rebellion against tyranny as against weakness.
Oliver’s father is no doubt an ever-present figure of authority, but because of ‘gentle’ demeanor, Oliver has a difficult time going against it. And there’s that famous genteel wasp restraint which makes it bad form for family members to lay it all on the table and talk honestly. Oliver’s father isn’t Ralph Kramden or Archie Bunker. In a way, Meathead gets along better with Archie because they lay everything on the table. They despise each other but fully understand one another. And that’s why Jenny gets along with her father much better, though I find it rather unreal that an Italian Catholic girl would be calling her father by his first name.

LOVE STORY belongs to one of the several key films of the late 60s and early 70s about parent-child relationships. The younger generation was beginning to make a difference but Hollywood was still controlled by old folks.
Also, there was no clear break between old and new in movie culture.
In pop music culture, the young rockers didn’t care about most of older music. Sure, they had some respect for old blues men and country singers, and etc. But youth culture of 60s was a rejection of much that had come before.

In contrast, even the young turks of cinema were steeped in reverence for the old masters like Ford, Hawks, Hitchcock, Welles, Griffith, Keaton, Lean, and foreign greats like Renoir, Kurosawa, Fellini, Bergman, etc. One of the key features of THE SEARCHERS is the parent/child-like relation between Ethan and Marty, and that was one of the key films of the ‘movie brat’ generation. This is why movie culture is richer(with its deep sense of history and foreign cultures) than pop music culture that is generally amnesiac and narrowly Anglo-Afro-centric.
Even in the key rebel film COOL HAND LUKE, the finest moment is when Luke meets his mother and then later sings a song in her honor after she dies. And the most powerful scene in IN COLD BLOOD is when Robert Blake’s character talks about his father. And the sad thing about MIDNIGHT COWBOY is the two grown men are like orphans. They connect mostly deeply when Ratso talks about his pa and then Joe Buck mentions how his grandma died without him knowing; she was like his only family.

Though Harold’s mother is cast as something of a ‘villainess’, I love her. She’s the kookiest thing I ever did see. She is a great mother. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=reJAzTE980s

FIVE EASY PIECES is about some drifter-rebel, but the story leads to his meeting with his incapacitated pa. And GODFATHER, the maybe the most important film of 70s, is essentially about father and son. The darkest parent-child film of the 70s is maybe CHINATOWN. And then you got EXORCIST where a Liberal modern woman hires religious folks to save her daughter from possession by porn-devil.
And even in cases where without parent figures, one of the characters comes under pressure to play the parental role. Like Nicholson in CUCKOO’S NEST and LAST DETAIL where he wants to be the life of the party but finds himself in the role of mentor. BAD NEWS BEARS works in similar vein. And Lucas’ STAR WARS saga is held together by father-son thing. Though SOMETIMES A GREAT NOTION the movie was overlooked by critics and audience, it is a pretty solid family drama.

I think the parent-child dynamic became less important in yrs to come cuz the boomers were more understanding of their kids. There was less culture clash since both parents and children grew up under permissive culture of TV and youth pop music. Also, so many kids grew up without fathers in single family homes, so the father-son dynamic has become less of a reality.
It’s incredible how Lena Dunham became the way she is with the full blessing of her parents. And when Sulkowicz made that atrocious video, she got full support from her mother.

We need more Don Corleones.

Look how people are dressed in the final scene of GODFATHER II. Men are dressed like men, no one has tattoos or piercings. Connie isn’t dressed like a whore.
Was it really progress for Italian-Americans to end up like the freaks on JERSEY SHORE?

Btw, that scene says so much about America. How Sonny says, “your country aint your blood” and Michael says “I don’t feel that way”.
Even today, maybe more than ever even, we have this competing or simultaneous themes of ethno-America and credo-America. Since credo-America is supposed to trump ethno-America, the theme of ‘justice’ is invoked to rationalize certain ethnic interests. “Since we were wronged as a group in the past, we need to work together as a people in the present and near future.” So, tribalism is supposed to be bad, but paradoxically it is good and necessary to undo the dominant tribalism of the past. But how long can this go on? If tribalism is ONLY justified on grounds of victimization, does this mean that once a group gains power and privilege, it should drop its tribalism? Jews are coming under this pressure with growth of BDS movement, and some Jews, like Philip Weiss and Glenn Greenwald, are beginning to sound like reform-liberal wasps who became critical of their own group.

One of the surprising things in the Trump moment is the support he got from Palin, Giuliani, and Gingrich. Palin was like a Zionist whore, even going so far as to wear a Star of David bling. Gingrich pandered to Jews at a Republican debate in 2012, saying that the first thing he would do as president is recognize Jerusalem as capital of Israel.
Giuliani was like a dog of New York Jews. But they are either supporting or strongly defending Trump when he has pissed off so many Neocon Jews. Palin was Kristol’s brainchild: get dumb shikse whore with boobs to run with McCain to win over the sucker vote. So, why is she going with Trump who has pissed off so many Jews?
Did she realize she’s been used as a whore and that no matter how much she groveled at their feet, the Jewish community just mocked her and laughed at her?
Something interesting is happening.

* LS was partly autobio as Segal lost someone he loved when young.

Why Does The Mormon Church Support Open Borders?

Comments to Steve Sailer:

* “Mormons are fools who want the border open so they can “save” their souls.”

Bingo! Not just “save their souls” but get access to their wallets. For years, the Mormon Church has been billing itself as “America’s fastest growing religion.” But I think what happened is they discovered that they had pretty much exhausted the stock of native white Americans to recruit into their church, so they stepped up recruitment abroad, to the point where I think foreigners now comprise the majority of the Mormon Church. They need to recruit new members to keep their Ponzi scheme going, with each member pledged to tithe 10% of his income each year. I have known many Mormons over the years, and I have nothing but admiration for them. They are wonderful people for the most part, with wonderful values. But I am bothered by the fact that you have to turn off your brain when you join the Church and accept an awful lot of nonsense. The Mormon Church’s embrace of open borders, very much like the Catholic Church’s similar stance, is a clear example of an institution putting its own interests above those of the country they call home.

BTW I was long an admirer of Brent Scowcroft (and still am), who served as GHW Bush’s National Security Adviser, based on what I read. He was one of the only advisers of Bush I to openly oppose the Iraq War of Bush II, until he was told to shut up. (Even Jim Baker supported the Iraq War, as did Henry Kissinger, Scowcroft’s former boss in the Nixon Administration.) It was only around that time that I discovered from a Mormon friend that Scowcroft was a Mormon. My admiration for him only increased as a result of that discovery. I am nonreligious myself and rarely judge people by their religion, choosing to judge their merit by the quality of the advice they give and the statements they make. I would only hope that Trump, should he become President, is able to find someone as capable as Brent Scowcroft to give him sound advice about foreign policy.

* There are indeed many normal people voting for Trump, and a few highly intelligent, well-educated ones. But his core base of support is white high school dropouts, whites who never went to university, and white people from areas with social problems (heroin use, poverty, out-of-wedlock births, etc.).

Cruz wins among conservatives who go to church regularly and live in often rural communities that are not “broken.” Places where, when it comes to moral behavior and conservative lifestyle, people walk the walk. These include church-going evangelicals* and Mormons, but also as we have seen Dutch Calvinists in wholesome western Michigan.

Earlier in the comments section I posted how Cruz won counties in Kentucky where there were no deaths from prescription pain-killer overdose, whereas Trump won landslides in the top counties in that state for such overdose deaths.

Rubio and Kasich win among educated, urban Republicans (and in Kasich’s case, all sorts of Ohioans) – engineers, military officers, physicians, MBAs, etc.

MORE COMMENTS:

* United Nations is criticizing EU limits on refugee intake. What baffles me is how Japan, China, South America, Africa, and the Gulf States are completely ignore in this type of political pressure, and the expectation is overwhelmingly on the nations of Europe to serve as homes for millions of refugees wanting a better life.

* I seem to recall that the phenomenon of the two wage household became prominent after the passage of the Immigration Act of 1965 and the inflation of the 70′s. After all, women in the work force became essential once we had a half million fighting the Communists in Vietnam, just as Rosy the Riverter became necessary during WWII (and Mexican braceros too) with an army of over 10 million fighting abroad (well, abroad, anyway).

The Revolt Of The Comedians

Comments to Steve Sailer:

* Tina Fey is one of the few female comedians that don’t make me sick. Of course she must have conservative instincts.

Does every female comedian have to have a borderline pornographic name for their show? In the last few years we’ve had

Inside Amy Schumer
Full Frontal (Samantha Bee)
Not Safe (Nikki Glaser)

We get it already! You’re modern women who have intercourse without any emotional commitment and you don’t care who knows it!

There’s this show Quantico, where in the first episode the Latina main character has sex with a random guy she meets on the plane. And he wants to see her again, but she doesn’t want to see him and has to let him down. Then it turns out they both are going to work at the FBI. He tries to hide from others that they just had intercourse, and she’s like “Why would I want to hide it?” while the Latina’s blonde friend looks on admiringly.

I think a lot of the campus rape hysteria is girls imitating what they see on TV. They decide that they should have casual sex like their heroins, but end up feeling emotional about their partners, and convince themselves it’s “rape.”

* I attended High School with Tina, she was class of ’88 one year behind me at Upper Darby High School. my graduating class had almost 900 students, it was and is the largest high school in PA. it was 1% black, 95% white in 1988. Today the high school is 50% Black 40% White, 10% Asian. still no Mexicans live there.

hard to believe she wrote Mean Girls…if she attended Upper Darby High today she would write Girls in the Hood. Gentrification in Philly and section 8 has dramatically altered the demographics of the town we grew up in.

* Steve Sailer: I have a hard time getting past six hours of any show, no matter how good. Six hours into “Breaking Bad,” I’m like, “Wow this is great, but now I pretty much get it, I get Vince Gilligan’s world view, I know who Walter White is and why the name is evocative, etc.” But I’m not really that interested in what happens to fictional characters, so I’ll move on to watching six hours of something else, like six hours of “Mad Men.” From six hours, I get most of the cultural references, but it was already turning into a soap opera, and I can’t stay interested in who will sleep with with whom for very long.

That said, I’ve probably seen 90% of Seinfeld episodes and 90% of 1990s Simpsons. But those characters mostly just reset at the end of each episode. Homer has hazy memories of having been, say, an astronaut, but nothing really changes him.

* [Walter White] keeps changing. Also, you quit before meeting Gus Frink, Mike Ehrmantraut, the twin Mexican hitmen, and Saul Goodman. Those were some epic characters.

* 30 Rock was a consistently funny show. The political humour at times confused me, I would think: “This is Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin… aren’t they supposed to be flaming bien-pensants?

Funniest scene in the series IMO:

“We’re the National Association for Zero Intolerance – NAZI!”

“Should we change that?”

“It’s fine.”

* Schumer and Dunham are about plain jane slut culture.

There used to be a time when some women were pretty and decent. Some were pretty and slutty. The plain Janes didn’t figure either way.

But plain Janes discovered that guys are such hornballs that they will screw just about anything.
So, even a pigaroon like Dunham can put out and get lots of action.

So, even plain janes can pretend to be ‘hot’.

The recent slut culture is about plain janes feeling ‘empowered’ and higher-esteemed upon discovery that even a porkeroon like Dunham can attract boys if she says ‘come do me, boys’.

* The 90′s Simpsons episodes were simply brilliant. There’s so much subtext crammed in.

Take for example “Homer Badman” where the babysitter accuses Homer of sexual harassment. So many oxen are gored. Feminism, the media, ur-examples of SJWs and Nice White Ladies. Bruce Willis. It’s like one of those puzzles ‘how many squares can you see’. All the while making one laugh his ass off.

Plus it gave us the fabulous Fox TV Movie “Homer Simpson: Portrait of an Ass-grabber”

* Never-ending? It ended after 62 episodes. BB was a writing-driven show, not an actors’ showcase; I think the cast had many dependable second-raters whom you’d probably not care about watching in something else, but its filler/soap-opera quotient was light by the standards of the genre. They were usually able to tighten up the central dilemma each week, placing the characters in a worse jam than what they’d just escaped prior. With of course the side effect of the actual finale being a bit narrow and unsurprising.

30 Rock was not great off the bat; both the concept and execution needed honing. Over time the elevator-pitch situation, which seems very lame (“wacky BTS hi-jinx on a Manhattan variety show”), became vestigial and they homed in on which elements were legitimately funny. Fortunately the producers’ sense of personnel behind and in front of the camera was superlative. as would be expected– it wasn’t some left-field innovative pilot by unknowns upon whom NBC took a flyer.

* Girls is a very complex show, and simplistic analysis doesn’t do it justice.

The show seems to be testing how many bad decisions the characters can make. And they make a lot of bad decisions.

Sluttiness is not shown in a good light. It is the water they swim in, but not particularly satisfying. And the girls screw up many romantic relationships.

Most of the characters are not shown in a good light. Some are horrendously irresponsible.

Ray, the coffee house owner with conservative sensibilities is an exception. He is generally decent and reasonable.

It accurately shows how people of modest means live in New York.

It avoids lefty stereotypes. Hannah’s gay father is an extremely unsympathetic character right now.

Jessa is a drug-addled mess, but clear-headed and decisive in a crisis when everyone else falls apart. She brings sanity to a childbirth and a makeup catastrophe at Marnie’s wedding.

I have no idea how Lena Dunham managed to create this show. When interviewed, she sounds like a completely deluded standard-issue lefty, and she fell for the KKK/Oberlin hoax big time.

Cat Ladies And Childlessness: A Love(less) Connection

From the Chateau:

Stamping the imprimatur of SCIENCE! on what we already knew, this study found that cats and childlessness go together like a horse and carriage.

Quantifying the Search Behaviour of Different Demographics Using Google Correlate.

Vast records of our everyday interests and concerns are being generated by our frequent interactions with the Internet. Here, we investigate how the searches of Google users vary across U.S. states with different birth rates and infant mortality rates. We find that users in states with higher birth rates search for more information about pregnancy, while those in states with lower birth rates search for more information about cats. Similarly, we find that users in states with higher infant mortality rates search for more information about credit, loans and diseases. Our results provide evidence that Internet search data could offer new insight into the concerns of different demographics.

Wait for it……..

???

Small useless pets like indoor cats are child substitutes. There’s no flim-flamming away that obvious conclusion under a fog of try-hard White Knight rhetoric. The cat provides the single in the city cock carouseler the outlet for her maternal nurturing instinct (however weak) that a real child of her own can’t, because she hasn’t gotten pregnant in the fifteen years she’s been on the Pill.

There’s been chatter among the alt-cognoscenti about parasites and assorted pathogens secretly being involved in most of humanity’s weird behavioral outliers. News come daily of discoveries that viruses have the creepy ability to alter our personalities. Maybe T gondii, the cat-transmitted pathogen, infects the cat owners’ minds and suppresses their desire to settle down with a dutiful beta male who will help them raise a brood. It might even compel cat ladies to pop womb-charring Pills and seek fleeting hookups with undependable cads. Cat food for thought.

We’re On The Precipice

Comments to Steve Sailer:

* …Then there are people like myself who believe that we’re battling for our national survival on the edge of a precipice. We can’t afford to give ground. We can’t pretend if we lose this election, maybe the voters will see things our way next time… No more General McClellans, waiting for “ideal conditions” to take on the enemy. We need someone to attack, someone who has already burned his bridges behind him… We can’t afford to wait any longer for another courteous, well-informed, articulate candidate. We’ll settle for the brash, rude, egotistical vulgarian. He has shown he’s willing to fight and at this point that’s all that counts.

* I listened to an excellent C-SPAN segment on the Presidential election and trade policy, specifically the Trans-Pacific Partnership treaty. Guest Lori Wallach , Public Citizen’s Global Trade Watch Director, explained the reasons for the establishment’s delight with the TPP. She followed with a scathing review of the Obama/Hillary/GOPe position.

Bernie was the hero of the day, sainted for his opposition to bad trade deals. Ms. Wallach offered a dismissive grunt at the mention of Trump’s name because, Trump. Still, a great segment. Public Citizen’s view of the treaty here.

* And does Cokie [Roberts] ever agonize over the abuse white kids endure at majority-minority schools? Of course not.

* Cokie wouldn’t know anything about that. Cokie attended a private all-girls Catholic school in Jim Crow New Orleans. In the 1980s her children attended Betheseda’s Walt Whitman High, one of the best public high schools in the state of Maryland. For years the school has been over 70 percent white, 15 percent Asian, 6 percent Hispanic, and 4 percent black. Only 1 or 2 percent of the kids are low-income.

* I doubt Trump would have the mandate to really be a dictator. He’d probably do a few high-profile immigration things to recover credibility and spend the rest of the time trying to nail hot women around the world. I could see him trying to do one of each nationality or something.

* You do get the problem with deportation where they’ve grown up here and barely even speak Spanish.

* How is that any different from a kid who has grown up in Central America and can barely speak English, if at all, coming to the United States? Add to the fact that the kid is coming without his parents. It seems like it would be easier to go to a nation with your parents who speak the language than it would be to go to a nation without your parents especially if you don’t even speak the language.

If it is so harsh to take someone away from the only home they have ever known, and the only language they have ever spoken, then we should immediately end all immigration to the USA. Because immigration to the USA does exactly what they say is so horrific. It takes people away from the only countries and languages they have known and dumps them off into a strange, alien nation. The horror, the horror!

* Jesse Ventura got bored being governor after 2 years. Ah-nold stuck it out more, but did have a tendency to reverse course, like after his initiatives lost in 2005.

Huey Long was a dynamo for 2 years as governor of Louisiana, but then got switched to vendettas against his enemies mostly after that.

* Maybe it might be in the interests of worldwide Jewry for prominent Jews to come out and tell Germany they do not approve of importing Syrians to make up for the past. The Germans might wake up and realize this is not atonement for their grandfathers’ deeds. Additionally it will get Jews on the record publicly opposing this policy. Because when the nationalists in Germany fight back, I don’t think anyone wants them to blame the Jews for the current immivasion. It would be best now to disavow and let the world know this is all Merkel. And that Jews and Israel have nothing to do with it, and more importantly, reject it.

* I say we turn it into heart-warming footage.

All those illegals here being reunited with family back home.

I know BABEL is anti-gringo, but it was touching to see the Mexican woman back in Mexico hugging her son.

I mean what the hell was she doing in the US raising the kids of gringo while leaving her family behind?

I say reunite illegals with their families back home. Reunite them with their homeland.

Aren’t they patriotic? Don’t they love their own nation and own people?

Play about a French Muslim president hits nerve in Germany

Stage adaptations of French author Michel Houellebecq’s novel “Submission”, in which a Muslim president takes power in 2022 France, have been a hit in Germany where a huge Mideast refugee influx has stoked fears of the impact of Islamic culture.

The first German theatre version sold out in the northern city of Hamburg, while in Dresden, birthplace of the Islamophobic PEGIDA street movement, a play premiered last weekend, with a third adaptation planned for Berlin in late April.

“It seems like it’s a very timely story because everybody, each in their own way, picks up on a point of the topic that concerns them,” actor Edgar Selge, who plays the central character Francois in Hamburg’s Deutsches Schauspielhaus theatre, told AFP.

How Trump Is Inspiring A New Generation Of White Nationalists

From Huffington Post:

WASHINGTON — The gathering on the eighth-floor rotunda of the federal government’s Ronald Reagan Building looked, at first glance, like any other Saturday-evening D.C. cocktail party.

But this was no ordinary affair.

The 50 or so people in the room were there for the winter conference of the National Policy Institute, a nonprofit think tank based in Arlington, Virginia. On its website, NPI describes itself as a group “dedicated to the heritage, identity, and future of people of European descent in the United States.”

In NPI’s telling, white Americans are increasingly under siege in their own country, doomed to be a hated minority as people of color grow ever more numerous and politically powerful.

And Donald Trump’s presidential candidacy has given the group’s members more hope than ever that help is on the way.

A solid majority of the formally dressed men at Saturday’s event were sporting a hairdo known as an “undercut,” which consists of a buzz cut on the bottom with longer hair on top, combed across to hang over one of the shaved sides of the head. It’s not a style you see often on the Beltway cocktail party circuit, and as it turned out, it’s a telling feature.

The conference’s ubiquitous undercut hairdo was of a piece with the well-coiffed, respectable face of today’s white nationalist movement. At the same time, it pointed up the communal, almost spiritual, role that the movement plays in the lives of its adherents. Huddled together with drinks in their hands, the attendees with matching undercuts had the appearance of religious cult members standing in formation — or maybe just an especially tight-knit college debate club from a bygone era.

And like any other quasi-spiritual movement, the young, overwhelmingly male white nationalists have their very own charismatic leader in Richard Spencer, NPI’s president.

Spencer was sporting the sharpest undercut in the room, a distinction that has prompted his comrades on the alt right to rename the haircut “the Richard Spencer” — at least, according to Spencer himself.

A tall and preppy graduate of the University of Virginia with a master’s degree from the University of Chicago, Spencer manages to make even the most extreme white nationalist ideas sound like innocuous talking points. He is also a master of obfuscation and sophistry, evading questions about his real agenda by dismissing policy prescriptions as irrelevant (despite the name of his organization).

“Talking about policy is meaningless until you have a starting point,” Spencer said.

The starting point he has in mind is getting white people to openly embrace their “white” identity, and to organize as a group with common interests. Spencer and his peers maintain that creating an intellectual community of white activists is an essential step toward making America white again.

“I think it is important to dream, and you can look into the past for inspiration or you can think about the future,” Spencer said. “But I don’t know how history is going to unfold. All I know is, we need identity no matter what happens.”

Although Spencer claimed on Saturday that his ideal scenarios are so theoretical they’re hardly worth spelling out, he’s been more forthcoming in the past. Spencer told Vice in 2013 that his dream was “an ethno-state that would be a gathering point for all Europeans. It would be a new society based on very different ideals than, say, the Declaration of Independence.”

Spencer has also expressed an openness to the idea of some kind of nonviolent ethnic cleansing. “Today, in the public imagination, ‘ethnic-cleansing’ has been associated with civil war and mass murder (understandably so),” he said at the American Renaissance conference in April 2013, according to Salon. “But this need not be the case. 1919 is a real example of successful ethnic redistribution — done by fiat, we should remember, but done peacefully.”

Other interim policies that Spencer and many NPI members support resemble standard conservative positions, albeit with race more explicitly in the foreground. They want to deport all undocumented immigrants, for example, and eliminate affirmative action in university admission and hiring for black and Latino people.

They also advocate a non-interventionist foreign policy, something they believe Trump supports as well.

The white nationalists share Trump’s penchant for trafficking in conspiracy theories, but they indulge in a brand of anti-Jewish prejudice that Trump himself has not exhibited.

One of the speakers scheduled at the NPI event was Kevin MacDonald, a former psychology professor at California State University, Long Beach, who’s notorious for his incendiary ideas about Jewish people. MacDonald has argued that Jews are “genetically driven to destroy Western societies” by promoting liberal immigration policies as part of their “group evolutionary strategy,” according to the Southern Poverty Law Center. Many of Saturday’s attendees made comments about Jewish people, and about their supposed role in efforts to undermine white nationalism, that would have sounded familiar to anyone with knowledge of MacDonald’s work.

“Do [Jews] present a challenge to us?” Richard said. “I would say yes, because they overwhelmingly support liberal causes.”

It is something Jews have done throughout history, Richard argued, and it’s one reason they’ve so often clashed with the communities around them.

Jews “were basically advocating war against Germany before the war actually started,” he said.

Richard added that the Jews’ actions in Germany did not warrant genocide. But he’s not certain that a genocide actually occurred.

If the Holocaust “really happened, then of course it wasn’t justified,” he said. “If it happened differently than what the story we’ve been told [is], then I think that needs to be let out.”

A man who gave his name as Jake later elaborated on why Jews are not white, and why, in his view, they present a fundamental problem for the white nationalist cause.

“The main people who are stunting white interests are Jewish people,” Jake said. “Every time a white nationalist, or group that claims to represent the interests of white Americans, appears, it is destroyed by groups such as the Southern Poverty Law Center and the Anti-Defamation League, and those are Jewish groups.” (The SPLC is an Alabama-based anti-racist nonprofit that does not identify as a Jewish organization in any way.)

Jews support multiculturalism, Jake said, because they are not racially white, and therefore feel threatened by white identity.

John, another attendee, argued that it was in Jews’ nature to be “subversive” as a survival strategy. As he and other attendees spoke, an African-American server would interrupt us at intervals to offer miniature seafood tacos, sliders and other appetizers.

“Basically Jews, as outsiders in society, in order to become any part of it, to exploit it in any way, had to work in subversive ways, which is why they have a high verbal IQ,” John said. “This is why you’ll find that Jews have this kind of behavior wherever they go.”

Mike, an attendee from Massachusetts, said that the willingness of Jewish neoconservatives to abandon the Republican Party if Trump is the nominee is more evidence that Jews put their own interests ahead of the country’s.

“It’s a good example of Jews basically backstabbing an entire portion of the political spectrum with their own perceived interests,” Mike said.

Neoconservatives’ support for foreign policy interventions, including the Iraq War, is driven by their loyalty to Israel, Mike and his friends argued.

I asked whether it was possible that Jewish neoconservatives, like non-Jewish neoconservatives, simply support those policies because they believe they’re what’s best for the country.

They chuckled at my suggestion.

“Are you Jewish?” Jake interjected.

“I actually happen to be,” I said, “but I’m here as a reporter.”

Jake then confronted me with what he said is the hypocrisy of Jews promoting multicultural acceptance in the United States and other Western countries, even as they insist on having an explicitly ethno-religious state of their own in Israel.

“The only reason it is not brought up is because people are scared and because the Jews own the mainstream media,” Jake said.

“They are opposed to us having our own Israel, a state that is for us exclusively,” Karl added.

Talk turned to Rupert Murdoch, who owns Fox News’ parent company and who argued last year that only “proven” Christian refugees should be allowed into the U.S.

“Rupert Murdoch pretends not to be Jewish,” Mike said.

“If he’s not, he’s a shabbos goy,” Karl said. “He’s just so Zionist. He’s part of the billionaire class.”

A shabbos goy is a gentile who does things for a Jewish person on Saturdays that are prohibited on the Sabbath. Karl appeared to be using the term to describe non-Jewish sellouts who are beholden to Jews.

Karl argued that Trump is the rare billionaire who is neither Jewish nor beholden to Jewish people.

Trump has indeed rankled some of Israel’s Republican supporters by saying he would pursue a role as a “neutral” broker between Israel and the Palestinians. He also told the Republican Jewish Coalition in December that he didn’t expect them to back him, “because I don’t want your money.”

Trump would likely bridle at the open anti-Semitism of these supporters, however. His daughter Ivanka converted to Judaism in 2009 and raises her two children in an observant Jewish home.

A spokeswoman for the Trump campaign also did not respond to a request for comment on how Trump feels about supporters saying anti-Jewish things.

Spencer, for his part, concedes that Jews are not monolithic, though it’s not clear whether he thinks they are capable of being part of the white race.

“I agree there is a great deal of Jewish assimilation,” he said. “I don’t want to get into a [discussion of] ‘who is white.’”

Evan Thomas, a student from Michigan, offered his own perspective.

“Jews tend to be involved in all levels of society,” Thomas said. “There are Jews who are leftists, there are Jews who agree with us, there are Jews who are Zionist. There are Jews who are doctors and apolitical.”

Is Physiognomy Destiny?

I feel like I can usually guess someone’s politics by looking at them. Muscular men, for instance, tend to be more right-wing and skinny men tend to be more left-wing.

A friend says: This is similar to the use of stereotypes in jury selection.

You cannot always be certain but stereotypes are true for a reason; a large number of persons of that type (anything that can be ascertained through observing someone be it race, ethnicity, religion, body type) share that characteristic.

I remember in the late 60’s and early 70’s it was easy to assume someone held a particular group of beliefs if they looked and dressed like a “hippie.” Then more and more non hippies started wearing their hair long and dressing more in that style and often they didn’t share those beliefs.

Since 90 percent of blacks support the democrats, that is an easy call. You only have a 10% chance of being wrong and you can probably narrow that down by observing their personal appearance, carriage, grooming, way of dressing and way of speaking.
