NPR: Hospitals Set New Restrictions On Who Can Perform Risky Surgeries

NPR: “So how bad can things get? Dr. John Birkmeyer at Dartmouth-Hitchcock in New Hampshire says a patient came to him after bariatric surgery at a small hospital, a hospital that didn’t perform that operation often. Before sewing up this patient, the surgeon had messed up the plumbing. This patient’s gut flowed in a circle.”

It seems obvious to me that affirmative action doctors are going to be less competent. If you get a black doctor, the odds are seven in eight by the statistics that the doctor benefited from affirmative action (and the odds are higher than that because blacks get a lot of affirmative action off the books).

It’s disgusting that there are no publicly available records breaking down medical malpractice by race, but people who work in the field of defending doctors accused of malpractice say it is disproportionately black doctors who are charged with malpractice and who lose their medical licenses because of malpractice.

Fred Reed writes on affirmative action: “What effect does the unmentionable pervasive scorn have on society? One result is the widespread assumption among whites that blacks are incompetent. For example, I won’t let my children (or me) within shouting distance of a black doctor. I don’t care about his color. I know how great the affirmative action is, how great the pressure not to fail blacks. Sorry. I’m not going to take the chance. Nor are a great many people. Black doctors know it.”

LAT: Civil Service Panel Charges Black Bias at King Hospital : Workplace: Commission says facility discriminates in hiring, promoting doctors

June 10, 1995|JEFFREY L. RABIN

In an unprecedented rebuke of Los Angeles County’s management of Martin Luther King Hospital in Watts, the county Civil Service Commission has ruled that the hospital has tried to “maintain itself as a black institution” by promoting doctors and hiring residents based on race rather than merit.

The commission recently voted to accept a hearing officer’s conclusion that there is an “institutional pattern of discrimination” at the hospital that penalizes non-blacks. The commission’s preliminary action had been scheduled for a final vote Wednesday but was postponed until next week.

The action caps a tumultuous 18 months in the hospital’s busy trauma center, known for its medical challenges and high percentage of poor patients but also a hotbed of racial unrest among senior physicians, who have occasionally almost come to blows.

Three doctors have served recently as the hospital’s trauma chief–with each appointment triggering allegations of racial discrimination, lawsuits or grievances. The Civil Service Commission sided 3 to 0 in April with a veteran King physician, Dr. Subramaniam Balasubramaniam, who charged that he was repeatedly overlooked as a candidate for the hospital’s top post in emergency medicine because of his race.

After a prolonged hearing on the case brought by the Indian-born physician, a hearing officer found that King Hospital and the affiliated Drew Medical School have an “unwritten policy of maintaining itself as a black institution and of placing black candidates in positions of leadership . . . to the exclusion of non-blacks.”

…But county hearing officer Terri A. Tucker concluded in her report in January that she is “persuaded . . . that the officials of [Martin Luther King] and Drew University, together, or as agents of one another, have demonstrated a pattern of discrimination in favor of blacks, and against non-blacks.”

In particular, she found that the hospital has had a policy of adding 10 points to the scores of young black doctors applying for residency training in King’s emergency department.

“It’s an absolutely devastating finding about which the Board of Supervisors should immediately take action,” said Rees Lloyd, attorney for Balasubramaniam. “Black racism is no more acceptable than white racism, and this case is manifestly an indictment of black racism and the operation of King Hospital.”

r. William Shoemaker, a veteran surgeon who is white, was appointed the department’s first permanent chief in 1991–with the understanding that he groom a younger black physician, Dr. Eugene Hardin, to take over the post in about three years, the hearing officer concluded.

In late 1993, the agency that accredits graduate medical training programs nationwide threatened to shut down the emergency medicine training program at King, and Shoemaker was demoted.

He filed a lawsuit alleging that he was removed from the chief’s position because of his race and age and won reinstatement, but the decision is under appeal by the county.

The hearing officer concluded that soon after Shoemaker’s demotion, hospital officials circumvented Civil Service rules and appointed interim Chairman Dr. Range Hutson, a black physician, whose “qualifications, though promising, do not compare to those of his more senior colleagues” at King. Although Hutson received no fringe benefits, the county paid him far more than most other doctors–$240,000 a year, which was taken out of the hospital’s account for services and supplies, records show.

A few months into Hutson’s tenure, the department was in major turmoil.

Shoemaker alleged in a sworn declaration that Hutson had berated and threatened him “using the most disgusting gutter language” in a confrontation in the doctors’ dining area.

Another white physician, Dr. Harry Kram, sued Hutson for illegally firing him and charged in a declaration that Hutson had threatened him in the hospital corridor by adopting a “combative posture with fists clenched” and using vulgarities. Hutson, who could not be reached for comment, has previously denied ever threatening any physician.

Kram was immediately reinstated by the hospital. And a Superior Court judge granted a preliminary injunction prohibiting Hutson from threatening Kram with violence.

Two other emergency physicians, Gary Ordog and Jonathan Wasserberger, both white, also filed grievances against Hutson.

In November, about a dozen emergency department physicians, including several African American doctors, signed a petition to “implore” county health officials to remove Hutson from supervising the emergency department because of his “poor management and supervisory skills, unprofessional interactions with faculty and inappropriate language . . . in the presence of patients, families, nurses and staff.”

Hutson testified at the Civil Service hearing that the spate of complaints against him resulted from his crackdown on doctors who were not working hard enough. Hospital officials have defended Hutson as a highly qualified physician who formerly worked at County-USC Medical Center. And they pointed out that at the time he was hired, he was board-certified in emergency medicine, unlike Balasubramaniam or Shoemaker.

Hutson resigned about two months ago. Hardin is now the acting chief of emergency medicine, although the hearing officer concluded that Hardin, like Hutson, was a comparatively weak candidate for the post.

The hospital “either has, or had, under Dr. Hardin, a policy of adding 10 points to the scores of black applicants for the department of emergency medicine residency program in order to increase the number of black residents, to the exclusion of non-black applicants,” the hearing officer concluded.

Hardin said in an interview that he “never, never, never” added points to the scores of black applicants but that the faculty as a whole can occasionally change an applicant’s final ranking.

Hardin said that the residents at King are a heterogeneous group of 44 young doctors “from every race and culture.”

He acknowledged that during the last two years, their average score on national exams measuring their medical knowledge has declined. Nearly one-third of the residents scored in the bottom 10% of the nation when they were tested recently, records show. Eleven will be given letters of warning about their performance and will be re-evaluated.

“There were some low scores . . . more than I would like to discuss,” Hardin said, adding that the education of residents has been affected by “a lot of turmoil” in the department.

REPORT FROM GENE EXPRESSION: Back in December ’04 UCLA Law Professor Richard Sanders published A Systemic Analysis of Affirmative Action in American Law Schools in the Stanford Law Review which detailed the costs to African-American students of being recipients of Affirmative Action (see here and here for the Cliff Notes versions.) As you can imagine this set off a fire storm of protest, similar in tone, though subdued in fury, to what followed the publication of Rushton and Jensen’s paper Thirty Years of Research on Race Differences in Cognitive Ability. Critics lined up to take their shots at Sanders. A good summary of the ensuing battle can be found at the Volokh Conspiracy, here and here (Be sure to read the comments.)

As with Ruston & Jensen’s paper, the controversy that followed Sanders was a clear case of conflicting Axioms with many of the rebuttals arguing from the Axiom of Equality, the Axiom of Proportionalism and Axiom of Social Justice, and were primarily worried about the decreased African American presence in law schools that would result if Affirmative Action was eliminated. In reading many of these rebuttals I was struck by the game theoretic aspects which argued that if Affirmative Action was eliminated that many African-American students would transfer their ambitions to other Professional Schools that still employed Affirmative Action policies. The critics argued that Law Schools shouldn’t abandon the crutch they’ve provided to minority students thereby foreclosing the prospect of losing these unqualifed students to rival faculties. The critics seemed to completely miss that Sanders was arguing from the Axiom of Merit, which he felt trumped the existing policies of the Law Schools.

After reading through the back and forth volleys I got to wondering why no similar study had been conducted on the effects of Affirmative Action within the medical community. Afterall, the stakes are certainly greater in that a medical student’s performance impacts on the health of patients, rather than simply their well-being (civil law) or freedom (criminal law.) What I really wanted to see was how medical malpractice suits were broken down by race of the physician but I couldn’t find any data at all. If anyone has access to such data, please leave a comment or e-mail me with the particulars.

I’m guessing the data is proprietary to insurance companies and is probably essential in determining insurance rates. After reading some of the data from the National Medical Association, which represents the interests of African-American physicians, it’s clear that obtaining malpractice insurance is a significant problem for its members, but considering that we’re in the middle of a malpractice crisis, it’s imposible to ascertain whether African-American physicians’ rates, and difficulty in obtaining insurance, are any different from the physican community as a whole.

However, even without the medical malpractice data, the consequences of Affirmative Action are evident in how minorities perform in medical school and in subsequent licensing examinations:

The study examined admissions records in two separate years at the five medical schools: the Medical College of Georgia, Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, the State University of New York’s Brooklyn College of Medicine, and the University of Washington School of Medicine.

[ . . . . . ]

For example, at Michigan State University’s College of Medicine in 1999, the median grade point average (GPA) for white admittees was 3.61, nearly an A-, while the median GPA for black admittees was 2.93, slightly below a B. Furthermore, the median MCAT score for blacks admitted to Michigan State that year was 29 (out of a possible 51 points) compared to 36 for whites.

[ . . . . . ]

These differences in admissions rates mirror the racial disparities in accomplishment on the first stage of the medical licensing exam. Scores from Michigan State averaged over a three year period show that 14% of black students failed the Step 1 of the exam, and 10% failed to take it, while among white students the failure rate was only 1% and the untested rate, 4%. Thus cumulatively, 24% of black medical students at Michigan State failed to complete the first stage of obtaining a medical license compared to only 5% of white students. Among Hispanics the combined rate was 8% and among Asians, 2%.

[ . . . . . ]

These figures are especially stark when one considers that the scores reported by Michigan State are final scores. Medical students are allowed to take Step 1 up to six times, and when a student fails several times, only the final result is reported. Thus the 14% of black students at Michigan State who are noted as failing the exam, may in fact have repeatedly failed to pass the exam and have a failure listed as their final result, and will not be able to obtain a medical license unless they are able to pass Step 1.

More disturbing than even the failure rate of minorities on the licensing exam, Clegg asserted, “is that even among the students who ultimately pass the exam it’s fair to assume that they are not going to be as successful as doctors as students who are academically better qualified would have been.” He continued, “You know one of the responses that we heard to our study was, well, what’s wrong with racial and ethnic preferences because no one’s going to be qualified to become a doctor unless they pass the exam…as far as patients are concerned, not only will there be fewer doctors, but the doctors who finally do become admitted are not going to be as good. The idea isn’t simply to admit students who are able to scrape by with a passing grade after taking the medical exam several times. We should be trying to have the best possible doctors, not doctors who are simply minimally qualified.”

It appears that Affirmative Action’s lenient admission standards weeds out the weaker candidates before the time for placement through the National Resident Matching Program sifts and sorts the nation’s medical school graduates and places them into residency programs. Surprisingly I didn’t find any declarative statements that the program grants any preferential treatment to minorities, so if this is a true condition, we’d expect to see more of a merit-based sorting based on the competitiveness of the various disciplines.

It’s frustrating that the data I’m seeking is not available, for I think it would be informative to get a racial breakdown of medical specialties and compare the results to the difficulty of winning admission into the medical specialties.

I did find this breakdown of Black Physicians in New Orleans, and using the competitiveness data above, 9% belong to the Extremely Competitive specialities, 15% to the Very Competitive, 30% to the Competitve and 46% to the Less Competitive. Again, the corresponding data from the medical community as a whole is difficult to extrapolate without access to more data sources. Here is a datasource on State Health Facts that some may find useful.

So what is the ripple effect of admitting minority students to medical school under preferential quotas? The evidence is clear that a sizable portion of minority students simply won’t get licensed to practice. Of those that do get licensed, I’d dearly like to know how well they perform without institutional favoritism shielding them from the full effects of competition and how well they adhere to professional standards.

Once out of medical school, the results of Affirmative Action can have real consequences:

This debate over the possible benefits of racial preferences at the nation’s medical schools was most famously raised by the 1978 Supreme Court case, Regents of the University of California v. Bakke, in which the Court ruled that the use of racial quotas in admissions was unconstitutional but continued to allow for an applicant’s race to “tip the balance” in his favor.

One famous beneficiary of racial preferences in admissions is Bernard Chavis, whose admission into the University of California’s medical school despite his inferior academic accomplishment prompted Bakke to file suit against the university. Long upheld as an example of the success of racially biased admissions programs, Chavis made a career serving poor minority communities until the Medical Board of California suspended his license to practice medicine in 1997, warning of his “inability to perform some of the most basic duties required of a physician” after one woman died and two more suffered serious complications after receiving liposuction from Chavis.

We also see problems with institutional slipping of standards, as Godless noted the problems facing two black medical schools:

A Courant analysis of disciplinary actions against doctors nationwide found, however, that both Howard and Meharry produce troubled doctors more frequently than most other schools – at rates about 10 times greater than the schools with the lowest numbers. The actions ranged from a simple citation to permanent license revocation for a range of misdeeds including medical incompetence, ethical lapses and criminal behavior.

The findings – controversial and politically sensitive as they are – defy simple explanation. [Really?…]

Howard and Meharry are not offshore schools with little accountability to U.S. regulators. Their programs are regularly reviewed and are subject to the same accreditation standards as all other American medical schools. They graduate many fine doctors.

So what accounts for the higher rates of disciplinary actions?

With the consequences of incompetence being so much greater in the field of medicine than in law, a study similar to the one conducted by Professor Sanders is urgently called for. If the Axiom of Merit loses ground to the Axiom of Proportionalism, we could see calls for increased enrollment under preferential guidelines for minority students as reported in The Right Thing to Do, The Smart Thing to Do: Enhancing Diversity in Health Professions by the National Academies Press:

A projection model developed by Libby yielded results indicating that in order to reach 218 physicians per 100,000 persons for each racial/ethnic group, the numbers of first year residents would need to roughly double for Hispanic and black physicians, triple for Native American physicians, and be reduced by two-fifths for white and Asian physicians.

Note how Asians are Honorary Whites in that report.

It’s difficult to model how reduced standards for minority students can be ameliorated if they are not as prepared as their colleagues for the rigors of medical school, have higher failure rates during their education, have a more difficult time passing licensing examinations, and with some schools at least, have a disproportionate presence in disciplinary hearings. Are we to believe that simply practicing their craft on innocent patients will over time increase their competence to the same level of their colleagues who weren’t admitted under preferences schemes?

How Can We Sell Women’s Soccer?

Comments to Steve Sailer:

* I think the selling point is attractive girls.

Women’s basketball fails cuz of too many big ugly women.

But soccer women look like ‘girls next door’, at least compared to beasties in some other women’s sports.

* Put them in bikinis

* To make money they simply need their own version of the Lingerie Football League, and yes that’s a real thing, just google and oogle. Incidentally, the only extended attention I have ever payed women’s soccer was the last five minutes before Brandy Chastain un-jerseyed herself and then strained her neck veins in that triumphant roar from her knees. Why do girls play soccer? Cause playing soccer in college means you get tickets to the exclusive athlete party scene, a veritable stud fest. I swam every summer and so I learned early that girl’s raw athletic ability peaks at about age fourteen. And yet we suffer them their pro leagues. Lingerie, please.

* Interest in Women’s Sports is just too periodic. And vulnerable to Lesbian or Roid Rage monstrosities.

Look at Women’s Tennis. Since the Williams Sisters showed that women with the approximate build of a Middle Linebacker could win and in fact dominate Women’s Tennis, interest has declined. Billie Jean King and Martina Navratolova certainly undermined the idea of Tennis as a cute girls game. No woman wanting an Alpha Male (which is every straight woman) wants to be even thought for a minute as a full on Diesel version of a Lesbian.

Nor does she want to be thought of as a Middle Linebacker in a Dress.

By contrast, as you noted, the girly-girl women’s ice skating for the most princessy-princess draws lots and lots of female viewers. Unless the sport is deliberately set up to exclude the most over Diesel versions of Lesbians and the most extreme Middle Linebackers, they’ll dominate and drive away women and girl viewers. [I guarantee men were not watching the Women’s soccer team, Beach Volleyball being another thing.]

Any attempt to make money off Women’s Soccer will degenerate into farce. Will the Next Bruce Jenner play? Heck just for laughs you could reel in all the over the hill, indebted soccer players and have them “self-identify” as female. Play the women’s team. Hilarity ensues.

* “A devout Christian, [Clayton] Kershaw believed that his wealth could best be used to help others in need. His faith had taught him that he needed only enough money to ensure his family never had to worry. The rest was for giving away. Major League Baseball had recognized him for his work with orphans in Zambia months earlier by presenting him with the Roberto Clemente Award, the prestigious honor given annually to the player who best exemplifies the Pittsburgh Pirate legend’s service to others.” (67)

* “Because of significant language and culture barriers, baseball locker rooms are almost always segregated by race, with white players hanging with white players, Latinos with Latinos, African-American players with other black players, and Asians with their translators.”

* “Some of you guys have been doing the number two and not washing your hands,” said Greinke [to the team]. “It’s not good.” (201)

* ESPN: Championships are won by teams, like the Giants and Cardinals, that spend money wisely and value that elusive intangible called chemistry. If The Best Team Money Can Buy is to be believed, the Dodgers lack that special something. The book tells stories about Yasiel Puig bringing his entourage on team flights, coming late to games, and generally showing a lack of motivation that reportedly turned his teammates against him. Truly great teams can overcome behavioral issues and personnel divides — keep in mind that the Yankees actually won a World Series with Alex Rodriguez — if the rest of the roster isn’t falling apart.

Unfortunately, that’s not the case in L.A. With the pitching staff whittled down to a slumping Clayton Kershaw, Greinke, and a box of mismatched old shoes, and with Puig sitting on three home runs, a pensive, nervy feeling is permeating Chavez Ravine. The Dodgers remain five games ahead of the Giants for first place in the NL West, yet there’s a sense that a crash is looming, that it’s not possible for a rotation this depleted to survive into October. Joc Pederson has cooled off, Adrian Gonzalez has traded his bat for a matador’s cape, and Jimmy Rollins is inexplicably still allowed to play baseball.

‘Killer King’ Hospital Reopens

I’m shocked that hospital named for Martin Luther King would have competency issues.

LA TIMES:

Some critics of the old medical center have long-held memories of its failures, even as they hold out hope for the new MLK Community Hospital. Robert Winter, 54, of Downey said he was treated twice at King/Drew and he couldn’t wait to get out. Doctors left a bullet hole wound open when he was rushed there by ambulance in the 1986, he said, and he was overmedicated when he arrived there with chest pain in 1995.

“It was a madhouse,” Winter said. “The hospital was a cesspool because of the people who ran it.”

Rabbi Abraham Cooper and Harold Brackman write:

…But what must they have thought looking down from Hebraic-Hellenic heaven in 2010 when Greek Orthodox Bishop Metropolitan Seraphim of Piraeus said on Greek television that Jews “control the international banking system,”…

No one will argue against the importance of helping the Greek people get through the crippling economic mess. But it is also time for the world community to hold to the fire the feet of Greece’s leaders in both priestly and parliamentary offices.

Steve Sailer: Ta-Nehisi Coates Finds His Body Fascinating, Is Sure Everybody Else Does, Too

Comments to Steve Sailer:

* Ta is a pretty terrible writer, and I suspect he is thoroughly edited to get as readable as he is. To get a sense of Ta’s intellect, watch the bloggingheads he did with McWhorter. It’s really funny to watch McWhorter brutalize him verbally while Ta has that dazed-in-the-ring look that apparently never leaves him.

* I feel sorry for TN Coates as I believe he is suffering from PTSD after his childhood in a black neighborhood. PTSD explain his paranoia and distorted irrational world view such as his obsession with supposed “white violence” against “black bodies”.

I try to understand him, and the only case he can make is that america’s tendency of racial segregation force sensitive non violent black boys like him to live with violent blacks. I see it here in NY with the children of African immigrants who have to live in the Bronx as their parents are poor and can’t afford any other neighborhood. They were endlessly bullied by their classmates to turn “ghetto” (and to the dismay of their parents they do). To be poor and black in america is to be violent or to invite black violence.

Coates is bitter and angry because White people forced him to live with violent Blacks because they don’t want to live with Blacks.

* The quality of our white national opinion journalists is very low. The majority of them were supporters of the completely insane (and disastrous) Iraq War. They also have been huge supporters of free trade, immigration, financialization, ruinous levels of public spending, and other absurd policies.

“Iraq has weapons of mass destruction.”
“Wall-Street bankers are job creators.”
“Immigrants do jobs Americans won’t do.”
“We need a guest-worker program to alleviate worker shortages.”
“NAFTA created jobs.”
“Israel is our most loyal ally.”
“Obama threw Israel under the bust.”

When that constitutes the mainstream of American thinking, what does that say about our intelligentsia?

Coates deserves all the criticism directed at him, but the quality of his thought is not particularly bad in comparison to his fellow writers.

* John Derbyshire said it best:

For many American blacks, especially elite blacks like the Obamas, nothing exists outside their own blackness. Their blackness is endlessly interesting, endlessly fascinating to them. They can never get enough of thinking about it, talking about it, reading and writing about it.

If they write a book, it’s about their blackness: Barack Obama’s Dreams from My Father, for example. If they write a college paper, it’s about their blackness: Mrs Obama’s Princeton thesis, for example, the seven words of whose title contain the word “black” twice. If they read a book, it’s about blackness. I’ve spent many, many hours riding the New York subway. Sitting next to a black person who’s reading a book, I take a peek: two times out of three it’s some black author writing about blackness.

Black black blackety-blackety-black. It fills their consciousness and absorbs their attention. What on earth must it be like to so trapped like that, such a prisoner of your own skin? I can’t imagine. I guess, just as the T-shirt slogan says: It’s a black thing; I wouldn’t understand.

MORE COMMENTS TO STEVE SAILER:

* Blacks are framing things all wrong with this talk of “reparations”. What’s obvious is that after blacks get paid, say a year or two down the road, once all the money is blown, the same discussions will just recommence anew, in a never-ending cycle of bitch-festing.

On the other hand what many whites could buy into is the concept of alimony and divorce. For this to happen, the Malcolm X Society’s concept of an independent Republic of New Afrika (RNA) in the south of the US needs to be dusted off. Many, many whites would pay dearly to help blacks “move out” of the US and start their own country.

A few ground rules though. At least 80% of blacks would have to agree to relocate to the RNA. Once gone, there is no right to return although tourist visas are possible. Using the recent flood of African “refugees” to Europe as a lesson, obviously a real tall and secure border will need to be built. But this can be justified as a way to protect blacks from whites. Yes whites living in what will become the RNA will have to be cleared out although volunteers will be allowed to stay in the new black utopia. Progressives and SJW’s from the big cities will also be encouraged to relocate to the RNA; something tells me very few will answer this call. And for the blacks who decide to stay in the US they will have to swear an oath to stop bitching about race on the pain of being deported to the RNA in case they ever do start whining again.

The RNA would be independent and free from whitey. The RNA can have a central bank, its own currency (on the banknotes they could replace dead Presidents with retired cornerbacks for example). The US could agree to make generous payments for say 20 years to get the RNA up and running. After that though the RNA is on its own.

Surely once free from the oppressive jackboot of whitey, the RNA will be a prosperous country that in its turn will attract plenty of the world’s refugees.

* Why not institute your plan but make it Back to Africa? The president of Senegal said at the time of the Haitian earthquake, any Blacks who want to, can come back to Senegal and be given free land.

* American politics, and indeed the politics of America emulators such as Britain’s disgusting New Labour, are defined by one overriding animus and one overriding animus only. Which is an alliance of ‘oppressed’ minorities attacking and destroying white men.
Needless to say white women are major players in this enterprise, perhaps not providing the leadership, that’s a black thing for sure, but in terms of providing the sheer numbers.
In fact it’s the wish fulfillment of human evolutionary history’s deepest seated, strongest and most instinctually held grudge on behalf of white women – the final and ultimate triumph of the yoni over the phallus. As animal and elemental as the dawn of life itself.

With their joyous enthusiasm in allying themselves against white men and having the final, overall, epochal ‘victory’ in their sights, paradoxically, white women are making the biggest mistake ever.

* If RiRi thinks she can take my money, what little there is if it, she ought to put down the crack pipe. Maybe Chris Brown hit her upside the head too many times.

Yes, a spoiled, rich Black woman with a taste for thugs and a 85, being generous, IQ screaming at White America to hand over the money?

Trump just went up two points.

* Rihanna could have hired a couple of illegal Mexicans with criminal records to do the heavy lifting for her.

Considering how America’s black population has turned several formerly thriving white American cities into movie sets for the zombie apocalypse, I think blacks collectively owe the white population reparations for all the property values they have destroyed. We really should stop coddling and enabling these people.

* To me in a sane society really requires only five or six key attributes
a) there are borders
b) the successful majority race\civilization does not pander to any minority, much less a civilizationally disfunctional and more primitive one
c) men and women are understood to be different and being wives and mothers is the most important thing women do
d) having children and passing on our genes and culture is the most important activity society needs to make work; and we want the best, smartest, healthiest men and women to be doing it, and the incompetent not to be doing it
e) we value and celebrate the productive, righteous and decent, and don’t hold up, rent-seeking, rip-offs nor the disordered and depraved for anything but disapproval
f) criminals belong in jail or exile, without excuses
g) gay means light-hearted and carefree and a rainbow–what you get when the sun follows a rain shower–is pretty

* The plain truth is that the biggest beneficiaries of African slavery are American blacks. They not only a) physically exist because of it, but b) slavery has allowed them live in a white civilized society with both rule-of-law and material conditions far, far, far above what blacks are able to achieve in in Africa–even with the benefit of western knowledge, science, medicine, technology.

The whole slave trade was a disaster for whites and especially for indigenous American tribes, while it was an absolute boon for blacks. Blacks had an incredible demographic expansion, that was completely unearned. They expanded demographically without winning wars, without conquest, and without the slightest ability–technological or organizational to do so. But rather simply by being enslaved and sold to white people.

The Atlantic slave trade was indeed white people’s worse crime. But not for the reasons we hear about all the time–suffering, oppression, etc. etc.–bad stuff for sure, but stuff that’s just routine in human history. Rather the great crime is that whites enabled a huge unearned demographic expansion of an uncivilized backward people. Really a crime against civilizational progress.

* American culture used to emphasize to blacks that they should act deferential, which was humiliating because blacks aren’t a naturally deferential race like Mexicans, Asians, Filipinos, or Indians/Paks. Now American culture (primarily rap and hip hop) teaches blacks that they should act angry and savage. When blacks adapt to that type of behavior, they get a lot of respect, applause (Americans love 50 Cent rapping about getting shot), and even women. Unfortunately, they also end up killing each other a lot and terrorizing each other frequently.

America could start emphasizing proper behavior to blacks again, but won’t. It’s not just PC. It’s also because whites (and all the other races) love seeing blacks acting bad. It thrills them to see blacks acting violently in sports, music, and celebrity feuds. If blacks started acting like Chinese tomorrow, life would be so much more boring. In modern day America, people crave entertainment, so America is cool with blacks acting bad.

* Rap videos and hip hop culture are basically a minstrel show. It’s a minstrel show that allows people of all races (not just blacks) to have fun. Watching blacks act bad on tv is the equivalent of Romans cheering on gladiatorial barbarism. It’s immature and vulgar, but it’s what the people want.

Many whites tolerate the bad behavior on tv not out of a sense of guilt, but because a lot of them love it. That’s not to say that PC doesn’t matter at all, but it’s an oversold factor.

There’s a difference between entertainment and real life. In the entertainment industry, bad behavior is funny. In real life, most people won’t tolerate bad behavior because it’s not very entertaining to be victimized. Which is why whites will tolerate hip hop savagery on tv, but want strict policing in real life.

The typical white wants entertaining blacks on tv, but wants tough police to keep his suburban/rural/gentrified neighborhood safe. Our present day system (blacks get to act bad on tv, get police in their face in real life) is a reflection of what the average American wants (and what businessmen can make money off).

The downside to the system is that a lot of blacks take the hip hop stuff too seriously and embrace the thug life, which has serious consequences for them and their communities. Of course, it’d be unfair to say that whites are forcing blacks to act this way. Given how many blacks embrace hip hop and how muted criticism is among black leaders, it’d seem that they’re not particularly uncomfortable with the affect of hip hop on black communities.

J.* emails:

Recently I came across an online personality who goes by the name The Truth Will Live with whom you’ve done a number of interviews, and I wanted to thank you for having those frank, honest discussions about the controversial topics you discussed with her.

For a number of years I’d come to know of Jewish political involvement through White nationalist writers and formed opinions, as well as went as far as to troll the internet at other White nationalist’s behest which I now regret on moral grounds. Though some of what you say seems to confirm the fears of many westerners about the effects of certain factions of Jews having power in politics, it’s also good to hear that the Jewish liberal or neocon aren’t the only voices on these issues and that there are a variety of intentions and beliefs amongst Jewish people, as well as logical reasons for some of the things we perceive as threatening or dangerous.

Sometimes it’s easy to get caught up in the emotional side of an issue, especially when we fail to look at different perspectives, and it’s appreciated that you’ve expressed a perspective that many of us will never hear, as well as admitted to some of the problems people have with Judaism without excuses or denial. Most people aren’t willing to admit to their faults.

I wrote to TTWL and told her that because of your talks I’ve changed my entire stance on Israel, Judaism and Jewish people. Basically I’m admitting unknowingness or ignorance and will now approach these topics in a more agnostic manner.

My grandmother was technically Jewish by ethnicity and so would be my Dad, if what I’ve heard about matrilineal inheritance is true, but we never identified as such. It was always just that she was Russian. It’s possible that I’m the only one who my grandma told about her Jewish mother. As I’ve learned about other parts of my ancestry, I feel it would be respectful to also learn about her Jewish side and I thank you guys for waking me up to this desire to learn.

Thanks for the link. It reminds me of the Indian epic known as the Mahabharat. In the Mahabharat, there is a character named Shakuni. Shakuni is the archetypal deceiver who organizes a war in the background without taking a prominent visible position, and his motives are hard to discern. He supports the supposedly wrong heir to a kingdom and attempts to divide and conquer in support of the family he’s sided with.

In my interpretation of the Mahabharat, and the more well known section of it the Bhagvad Gita, the story espouses an ambiguity and complexity in which there aren’t easy answers as to what defines honor or morality. Shakuni is often considered to be evil, but it could also be seen as him simply doing what needs to be done to win. His, and his ally’s, enemies are not only physically stronger but are trusted in the community, too. Taking them on head first would be an automatic loss, so they use other methods.

While I think it would be more honest and traditionally honorable to be upfront about motives, I also wonder if it can be expected of these groups to adhere to such an open and honest method. Is Israel, or are the Jewish people, in a position to “play by the rules?”

But also, to look at it from another side, one would have to ask how long it will be beneficial to those groups like the ADL and SPLC as they lose respect day by day and inadvertently amplify the anti-Jewish sentiments that they are trying to fight against. Like Shakuni, the method which gave temporary victory could end up being the Achille’s heel which ultimately hurts Jews more.

Simple Birth Control Can Reduce The Births Of Low IQ Groups

Steve Sailer writes: “…after the Israeli Establishment quickly got tired of the Ethiopians they had let in so liberal American Jews could feel good about Zionism not being racist, they hustled the Falasha women onto Depo-Provera, with similarly effective results.”

Report: Shoplifting arrests at Eagan Outlet Mall raise question of bias

Article: “Nearly 85 percent of those arrested or cited in connection with shoplifting calls at Eagan’s new outlet mall were people of color, according to a Star Tribune analysis of nearly 1,000 calls to police in the first eight months the center was open.”

Comments to Steve Sailer:

* It is in the interest of SJWs that the rules of hate speech be ever shifting and ambiguous in order to keep the bad people off balance (people who don’t closely follow the twists and turns of the Party Line are automatically bad people) . That way, they can get you any time that they want, especially since the internet produces an indelible paper trail going back decades. If a fellow SJW makes an innocent mistake (as is inevitable) you can just ignore it (at least for as long as he or she remains a SJW in good standing), since you control the megaphone. In any case, as we have seen with the N-word, it’s OK for colored people (oops, I mean people of color) to break the rules – only white people (esp. straight white males) are capable of racism.

* > I’m sure a lot of these outlets stores are big name places who get their merchandise extremely cheap from Latin American and Chinese slave labor (e.g., Macy’s). Accept that a certain amount will be stolen and just consider it part of the cost of doing business.

That’s largely what the upscale department stores do. An expensive department store like Saks or a high-end clothing store like Banana Republic tends to make very high operating margins. Shoplifting’s a small impact, and they usually won’t go through the legal and PR bother of prosecuting anything unless it’s at least hundreds of dollars.

In contrast a low-end discount store has very thin margins. Wad-Mart makes $0.03 for every dollar of merchandise sold. If they let only 1.5% of their merchandise be shoplifted, that immediately cuts their entire profits in half. Therefore they experience a much higher impact from shoplifting and tend to be much more vigorous about prosecuting it.
