Where Are The Black Hats In Beverlywood?

The area has stayed resolutely Modern Orthodox. The black hats (more Orthodox) can’t afford to live in Beverlywood.

I’d like to imagine roving bands of Modern Orthodox in Beverlywood who beat up black hats who walk into their hood and deteriorate the quality of life.

The black hats tend to live south of Robertson, in Valley Village, and in Fairfax/La Brea.

None of the pulpit rabbis in Pico/Robertson wear a black hat, not even on Shabbos. They don’t put their tallit (prayer shawl) over their head on Shabbos.

The one exception — Rabbi Yitzhok Summers at Anshe Emet wears a black hat.

Shaarey Zedek in Valley Village, which is Modern Orthodox, would not have hired a rabbi who did not wear a black hat.

Black hats in Beverlywood would daven at either YULA or Adas Torah or Anshe Emet (east of Robertson where the losers live). Beth Jacob and YICC have an informal no-shleppers policy. You have to pay full membership.
