Managing Addiction

Addiction is like diabetes, there’s no cure. There’s no over it. There’s just managing it. When life gets tough, you may feel tempted to reach for your addiction to numb the pain. Keep coming back! It works if you work it!

Mark: you finally gave in?

Luke Ford I have many addictions. I get the….under control and others pop up.

Mark:Just go with the one that “pops up” and all the other ones won’t matter.

Darren: Well said Luke.

Luke Ford: Darren, what’s wrong with you? You’ve never complimented me before. Are you feeling ok? What’s going on in your life? Do you need a closer walk with HaShem?

Darren: Well Luke, this is the first honest non self-sabotage, non-antisemitic, non-discriminatory, unnarcissitic post I ever saw from you (please excuse all the made up words, it must be Auto-correct).

L. posts: I tried cutting some Luke out of my life, but went crawling back to my addiction to his posts and blog.

A friend says: “Since I cut out sugar my addiction to social media has become more pronounced. I think that’s the nature of an addictive personality because I struggle with similar things. Like, I have food addictions, but I’m on this new diet so I can’t have sugar, and I feel myself looking for another addiction.”

* Most people get, “Hi, how are you?” I get, “How’s your mental illness?”

* You can’t fire me for having a plant-based, legume-rich diet!

* Is it wrong to choose a sponsor because she’s hot?

* Shabbos table. Host: “So, Levi, how did you meet your wife?”
Levi: “She was my sponsor and I 13th Stepped her into Orthodox Judaism, Baruch Hashem!”

* “Does anybody have a bucket of ice? He’s going on and on about how he wants a girl like that.” (Friend)

* Luke: I have the most flexible female looks standards of any guy I know well. I’d even date a fattie (up to 15 pounds over) if she were brilliant.

Friend: “Haha….I just saw your fattie post. So 15 pounds over–I’m about 15 pounds over and I would barely sleep with myself.”

* Jew Husband: “My wife edits and corrects everything I say in public.”

* I find nasty obnoxious horrific disgusting people tend to have a lot of wisdom and strengths that I sorely lack.
