Death Threats

After I reported that a leading pornographer (Lenny Friedlander) died at his own hand Sunday, I got some threatening phone calls, including this one at noon:

Man: "What are you doing?"

Luke: "What do you mean?"

Man: "Are you looking to get yourself hurt?"

Luke: "No."

Man: "You’re gonna. There’s nothing that anyone can do to help you. You’re gonna have a big problem. A lot bigger than you’ve ever had.

"For what you put up there this morning, you will not go to any conventions without getting hurt. And I mean really hurt. You should’ve thought about that before you put that up there. You know you’re out of the porn business. I’m dead serious. You’re going to go to a convention or something and something’s gonna happen."

"This is somebody’s life. He has family. There’s a lot of people he knew. You put up that story, true or not, you should’ve thought about it. You’re not talking about these little douchebags who shoot movies…. This is one of the biggest guys in the industry. He has a lot of friends. You are not safe."

"This is a tragedy and that is something that should not be put up there."

Mikey emails:

Mr. Friedlander’s Family deserved a lot more tact than that headline ["Lenny Friedlander Shot Himself"]. I am not sure if you went school for Journalism, but I assume you did not. I can send you my book from my Ethics in Journalism class, but then again your not a real Journalist.

This was a great man that commanded respect from everyone that ever worked for with or even with him. Speaking as someone that worked for him for a number of years I hope the unidentified “Man” makes good on his promise. I owe Mr. Friedlander the life I currently have.
