The Spanish-Language News Media On Or By Antonio’s Side?

From a post to MayorSam:

It has always been this way. La Opinion has even gone so far as to deny competitors equal ad time – despite the competitors paying for it. Checks have been returned and requests denied, just ask Monica Lozano.

And then they interview Monica Lozano’s live in boyfriend, David Ayon – one of Fernando Guerra’s flunkies at LMU – to offer supposedly "objective" opinions on Antonio. It is all in writing, just check.

This is Parke Skelton’s style of politics – take a complete lame brain and make sure that everything is planned and choreographed – a real puppet on a string. But being the dumbass that Antonio is, he still finds a way to screw up. It is the same with the community throw away newspapers and of course as we all know, with the Los Angeles Times.

Now we know why Antonio and Parke don’t want to give up those Blackberry e-mails. He probably had up to the minute coaching for all those "live" interviews. And we joke about Bush receiving additional technical help in his debates.

Another poster says: "Univision has guests on all the time answering questions, and univision has a policy of giving those questions in advance for all their guests not just the mayor."

Antonio Watch posts:

KFI’s Eric Leonard reported that the emails were leaked by journalists at Univision who were outraged over the practice of sending these questions in advance.

Leonard also reported there is something of an unspoken expectation and/or demand on Villaraigosa’s part that he is to receive fawning treatment by the Spanish-language media, and the Univision guys/gals who take journalism seriously were fed up.

Here’s another post:

What a buncha ding-dongs post on this blog. Every TV station lets politicians know in advance what topics they’re going to be asked about. Every politician and candidate studies up before speeches, debates, interviews, etc. Very few of them just absorb knowledge out of thin air.

The people posting here don’t seem to absorb knowledge from anywhere. They just make crap up as they go along, or fall into racists rants inspired by bozos like John and Ken. Heaven help us if this is what passes for free speech these days.

Another post:

Recently, Univision abruptly fired it’s news director so the emails may have come from him.

Second, "Villaraigosa a su lado" means "by your side" as in next to you, not on your side.

On your side would have been "Villaraigosa DE su lado."

And last, if you read the emails in Spanish they simply go over the points/questions that will be discussed in that segment. That is common practice for every regularly scheduled segment in every newsroom.

The first email clearly reads that in addition to the points/questions mentioned, they will also discuss whatever question comes from the public, plus any additional comments/questions the anchors may have or make.

The segment was never billed as "impromptu" since it was SCHEDULED TO AIR EVERY SINGLE WEEK.

I am not defending the Mayor here — I think his conduct merits a city investigation and I think Salinas should be fired.

But the way these emails are being spun and translated is wrong.

Another post:

It makes no difference whether the interview was spur of the moment or scheduled. The only time constituents see or hear directly from their elected officials IS when they are interviewed or presented in some form of media – print, television or radio. If he is standing in front of a microphone giving a prepared speech, then everyone knows he and his handlers have taken great care to design the information and the spin carefully. When you see them in one of these arranged "town hall" formats or "debates" you SHOULD at least be savvy enough to know that any questions allowed to get through are all prepared, controlled and scripted in advance, along with the answers, so there is just more spin going on there as well. No surprises … it is up to you how much of it you are prepared to believe based on your level of awareness and gullibility.

When you see that elected official in a question and answer format, either one on one or in a group setting like a press conference, that is the only place where the public has – or SHOULD have – the opportunity to hear that official in real time, unscripted, unprepared, not so easily able to lie, propagandize and spin off the cuff. They are not interviewing some airhead celebrity about their latest movie or ridiculous personal antics – they are interviewing someone who has some considerable influence over the people and the condition of the city, state or country.

Additionally, a free press is supposed to be a watchdog for the interests of the public and the country. They should be in the vanguard of those who uncover improprieties and wrongdoing in government. If you have a press that is controlled by or is willing to pander to those in government and their masters, then you have a press that is completely unreliable and useless. At that point they have become nothing more than another arm of government lies and propaganda. This is unfortunately the state in which we largely find ourselves today. With a completely controlled media that does nothing more than indoctrinate and control an increasingly ingorant populace.

To simply roll over and say that this approach is in any form acceptable is stupid and suicidal. They seem to have spun and conditioned some of you so effectively that you now think it is okay, indeed good, to allow them to get away with this type of deception. So, where are you? Back in the USSR (study a little accurate history … that is NOT a good thing … among other things, they were guilty of slaughtering millions upon millions of people – far, far, far more than Hitler has ever been accused of killing.)

Another post: "Antonio’s sick obsession with "conquering" women – typical of men that are unsecure of their manhood- is making big waves. Feinstein has to rush to defend Hillary, two strong women with national profiles placed in a position to defend this scumbucket and now NBC Universal forced to answer questions on their billion dollar development because of Antonio’s lack of integrity and character."

From another post:

Ditto for Luke Ford: he is indeed a perv, horny and frustrated, also driven by jealousy and bitterness, which leads him into a cycle that ensures he stays poor, lonely, horny and bitter, hence looking for the next "victim" to go after.

He admits all this in this week’s LAT Dustup columns: after going after his sparring partner Spillman for being vain and shallow, just "entertainment" as all tv news is — Spillman begs to differ — he admits that he envies his sparring partner for owning a townhome and having a life and kids, something he himself will never have. (And he admits if any of his sources would go to bed with him, he’d have no problems with vertical info- gathering. But alas, they won’t.)

Honestly, Zuma, people read this blog not because of you, but despite you — except of course, the bitter, lonely, horny ones like you and LukeFord. IF there is crap going around here, some people may want to be prepared to read about it elsewhere, but if they know it’s crap, believe me, they don’t care.

Another post: "Of course, he’ll take it vertical, horizontal, back or front, up or down, coordinates and directions are not of the essence here. His horny desperation for sex and smarmy gossip is."
