Thoughts On This Week’s Torah Portion – Shemini

Rabbi Shlomo Riskin’s commentary.

According to the Ramban, the strange fire offering by Aaron’s sons Nadav and Avihu is that they wanted a relationship with G-d without judgment. They just wanted it to be all love and no relationship and community can be run that way. There always has to be accountability and consequences. We can’t look for unconditional love. We have to earn our way.

I’ve made a video explicating these mystical thoughts. Feel free to share it at your place of worship and within your faith community and also at G-d’s house.
