I went to Guidestar.org and looked up the last 990 tax form filed by the Jewish Federation of Los Angeles. It was from 2008.
Then president Josh Fishel pulled in compensation around $500,000 that year. Executive VP Kenneth Krug brought in over $300,000. Susan Gotlib Torpin (VP of development) brought in over $320,000 in compensation. Carol Koransky from the Valley Alliance brought in approximately $220,000. Rabbi Mark Diamond brought in about $210,000. Beryl Gerber brought in almost $200,000. Cyndie Ayala, VP of administration, brought in $190,000.
As for Jewish Family Services of LA, here’s the 2008 filing:
Paul S. Castro, CEO: $290,000
Vivian Sauer, Associate Exec Director: $200,000
Susan Forer-Dehrey, COO: $215,000
Lawrence Trent Maggard CFO: $160,000
Eli Veitzer (Director of Administration): $150,000
Lisa Brooks (Director of Marketing): $131,000
Joan Mithers, Director of Food/Hunger Communication: $120,000
At the Jewish Bureau of Education, according to the 2008 filing, Dr. Gil Graff pulled in $290,000.
I think it’s awesome that in Jewish charities, bureaucrats can make good by doing good! Would that it were so for bloggers.
Also at JBE, associate director Phil Liff-Grieff pulled in $146,000.
