The Cathy I knew was much more vulnerable than her writings suggest. After listing off her complaints one night, she said to me, "This is where you say something supportive." After we attended a party thrown by The Atlantic magazine (featuring Christopher Hitchens and Martin Amis), Cathy laughed about how intellectually out-classed she felt. She felt the same way after hanging out with Dr. Nick Gillespie.
