Shalhevet Selects New Head Of School

Say sources:

I heard Shalhevet announced the result of their head of school search by coming full circle to Steven Bailey, Ph.D. I don’t care how they try to spin it; they couldn’t get anyone good to come into that mess.

He was a puppet in Jerry’s hands and now he is back. He allowed Jerry to run amok. The parents and students were glad to get rid of him.

The man was close friends for years with a psychologist he worked with. They were such a good match. They would complete each other’s sentences… At the end he left his wife and children and married his psychologist friend who was single all this time. They left town soon after and now they are back.

Shalhevet also plans to hire Bailey’s wife (Dr. Clara Zilberstein) and a new placement director (college advisor) from USC’s Hillel — Dr. Steven Mercer. This guy is formidably competent and has a salary to match.

Some fear Jerry’s spending recklessly.

Shalhevet’s deficit this year is about $3 million.

The school’s board of directors is supposed to exercise some control over spending but president Esther Feder isn’t exercising control over school head Jerry Friedman.

Maybe her husband Steve’s wealthy mother will make up this budget shortfall. What’s $2.5 million?

Shalhevet is supposed to have a fundraising banquet in February but they’ve not been able to land anyone as the drawing card.

Perhaps they should name me "Jew of the Year" and then stand back and watch the donations flow in.

According to Zoominfo: Steve Bailey, Ph.D., is Director of a four-year Judaic Studies curriculum development project at Moriah College in Sydney, Australia. He was co-founder and educational director of an experimental Jewish High School in Los Angeles that pioneered the Kohlbergian "Just Community" model. Dr. Bailey has written two books; the latest is a co-authored work entitled, Curriculum: Real Teachers in Focus-A Study in Jewish Education.
