* Cubans in Miami have always looked down on “Anglos” as well – the same Anglos who took them in when they had nowhere else to go. Even the white(r) ones.
White(r) Cubans who look down on blacks are not white supremacists; they are Cuban supremacists. They feel no kinship with other whites.
In many ways, what happened in Miami was a preview of what is happening everywhere in this country today. Americans generously let foreigners into America; the foreigners manipulated the system to their benefit, took over, and screwed the native-born Americans.
And, yes, many Cubans do hate Puerto Ricans, Mexicans, and anyone else who isn’t Cuban. The hatred is often mutual.
The idea that Mexicans in Los Angeles will vote for a Cuban from Miami because he is “Hispanic” would be utterly laughable, if so many ignorant folks didn’t take it seriously.
When Mexicans say “Latino,” they mean “Mexican.” Rubio is not one of them.
