What You Can Do For Israel

Chaim Amalek emails: "When Israeli women (the sane, non-haredi ones) turn 18, they go into the Army, where they do situps, pullups, and otherwise tighten their young bodies. When American women turn 18, they go off to college and promptly gain 15 pound of fat and (often) bad attitudes that they spend the rest of their lives with."

Khunrum emails: “Luke needs one of these Israeli hardcores (an older model) to whack him with a rifle butt and make him get a job………a real one that pays wages.”

D.F. emails:

Hi Everyone,

In shul this past Shabbat several people asked me what they could do to help Israel during this time of war, especially in light of the expected additional negative media attention once Israel went into Gaza with group troops.

While it is great to write letters to the editor of the LA Times or the news director of CNN, and I encourage you and your families to do so, the best thing we can do right now is reinforce America’s standing by Israel and her right to defend herself. We need as many members of congress as possible to make public statements of support, and we need to thank those who make those statements, because they are most likely getting lots of calls, faxes and emails against America’s position.

So far, Senator Boxer has come out with a public statement of support, but we have not yet heard publically and officially from our Representative Henry Waxman nor from Senator Dianne Feinstein.

With Israel being forced to take increased measures in Gaza to defend its citizens from indiscriminate rocket and mortar fire, a bipartisan coalition of American leaders is voicing critical support for Israel’s defensive actions. Since Israel’s 2005 withdrawal from Gaza, Hamas has launched more than 6,300 rockets and mortars-including 600 in the past six weeks-at Israeli population centers. We need our members of the House and Senate to add their voices to the bipartisan coalition expressing support for Israel.

At the bottom of this email is a draft letter for those who want to call, email or fax Rep. Waxman and Senator Feinstein. It’s also all on the AIPAC website, www.aipac.org

_______________ Dear Representative Waxman/Senator Feinstein,

I write to urge you to issue a statement in support of Israel’s right to defend its citizens from terrorism.

With Israel being forced to take action in Gaza to defend its citizens from Hamas’ indiscriminate rocket and mortar fire, a bipartisan coalition of American leaders is voicing critical support for Israel’s defensive actions.

Since Israel’s 2005 withdrawal from Gaza – an effort intended to reduce violence and lay the groundwork for a future Palestinian state – Hamas has indiscriminately fired more than 6,300 rockets and mortars, including 600 in the past six weeks, at Israeli population centers.

Last spring, Israel tested whether Hamas would move toward peace by accepting Egypt’s proposal for a six-month lull in the fighting. Instead, Hamas significantly enhanced its arsenal, and ultimately resumed its rocket assaults. Despite Hamas’ aggression, Israel continues to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian assistance and is acting to limit civilian casualties in Gaza.

As Israel works to defend its citizens, the prime obligation of any government, I urge you to add your voice to those standing by Israel.

Thank you,
Let’s pray that this war ends quickly and well, that Israel creates a better security reality for her citizens, but let’s not take any chances with America’s support.

Thank you,
