A Torah scholar accused of fondling an elderly man lying in a Manhattan hospital bed first asked his frail victim whether he was Jewish before grabbing his genitals, prosecutors said Thursday.
When the 72-year-old senior replied that he was an atheist, Yakov Kramer allegedly lifted the man’s gown and molested him Wednesday afternoon at New York-Presbyterian Hospital Columbia, prosecutors said.

I was in one of them for a while several years back and it seemed like every time I came out of sedation there was another one of them asking if I wanted a kosher meal or needed help getting the right doctor. My roommate had one of those names that only show up in good Irish neighberhoods yet every time they looked in on me (my family and given names are so Jewish I didn’t need a bris to mark me as Jewish) they went over to see if he or his (noisy) family members visiting with him needed anything too.
Can’t say the same for my Modern Orthodox or Conservative friends. Seems the rest of us have abandoned bikur holim to the Hassidim.
