Michael Weinreb writes for Rolling Stone about the white freshman basketball star:
Here are a couple of things I learned about Grayson Allen by perusing his bio on the Duke basketball website: He graduated cum laude (of course he did) from something called the Providence School, a place that defines itself on its own website as not just Christian, but “boldly Christian,” in case you enjoy your Bible study with a side of audaciousness.
I already dislike Grayson Allen (a bit player for the Blue Devils all season who put up 16 points last night), and as I write this, I’ve known who he is for about an hour. I already want to see him fail in some publicly humiliating fashion, merely because of the uniform he is wearing. He is every over-entitled, Izod-clad jerk I’ve ever come across in a bar, and I want him to spill his celebratory sparking cider.
There’s a certain type of Jew (such as Michael Weinreb) who just reflexively hates goyim but you’re not supposed to notice that.
Comments to Rolling Stone:
* When teams had been chosen, only one player remained. “You take him,” “no, you take him” they said of poor little Weinreb. Suddenly, that special little member of God’s chosen people felt overwhelmingly unchosen. They all pointed and laughed. They all looked like Haven Monahan, or was it Grayson Allen?
* Duke basketball… Duke lacrosse… UVA frats… Christian Laettner…
Media ashkenazis sure do love baselessly slandering white gentile college men. The vigor & gleefulness with which they do it, without any sense of objectivity… it seems to energize them.
* How come Rolling Stone is bullying a child at Duke?
How come Marxists hate children?
* Privileged white kids totally dominate college and pro basketball so Weinreb is justified in picking on Grayson Allen. Right?
* Does the Rolling Stones writing staff look like America? Or is it over-represented by mediocre Jewish writers who are there because of their privileged tribal connections instead of talent? Why doesn’t Weinreb do the right thing and resign his position in favor of a young under-represented Latino, Black, or Gentile writer who could then show what happens when writers with TALENT (as opposed to tribal connections) get to start cranking out stories.
* Weinreb comes across as a nasty, bigoted turd willing to write total BS about an 18 or 19 year old kid he’s never met.
Does Rolling Stone have editors or do its writers just post whatever they want?
* This seems like it was conveniently dusted off from the journalistic scrap heap that came in the wake of the Duke lacrosse fiasco. Apparently, Weinreb couldn’t submit a hit piece on the accused Duke players before the whole thing collapsed. Never waste a second chance, I guess. No matter how despicable.
* When there are reporters and journalists who are fired or reprimanded for attacks on other races, I would feel those actions should follow for the author of this filth. There is no substance found within this article, just one person’s rants. While I may not like Duke, there is no call for slandering any of its players, coaches or team. Hate should not be allowed to be written no matter who it is against. MichaeL WEINREB and Rolling Stones should be ashamed of themselves. There is no journalistic qualities to this trash.
* I’d rather take a shower at Penn State than read this Gentile-hating filth.
* Pure racist hate of gentile whites in article form. Wow, just wow. Even after the mega rape hoax fiasco.
* Oh look, it’s an effete Jew that hates gentiles. What a shock.
* And yet again another submission by a Rolling Stone “writer” who fails to do diligence, offers a drive by observation without any facts, and grasps at sensationalism to draw attention to one’s own pedantic writing style. Did you know Grayson comes from a blue collar family? Did you know that Grayson could have been admitted to Duke based solely on his academics and ACT scores? Did you know that his freshman coach told him “He didn’t have the talent or skill to play at Duke”? Oh, that’s right, this is Rolling Stone, why check facts.
* In 2015 can a writer for a major media organization really get away with so many blatant anti-Gentile slurs? Even after the racist slurs of Sabrina Rubin Erdely? This is astounding! Now sure maybe the author’s grandfather didn’t get into a country club but does a member of a hugely privileged and massively over-represented identity group really still get to sneer down at the little people like this? How about we get a person of color to replace his wealthy racist butt? Oh and why doesn’t Mr Weinreb let us know what kind of neighborhood he lives in? I’m betting it is 97% white.
* Do you not see how your article is just dripping with anti-gentile hatred. As a fellow member of the tribe, I’m telling you, you need to get over this for your own good. What kind of “privilege” does it take for a man to assume (correctly) that he can denigrate an entire demographic group based on his own cultural prejudice and not face any consequences.
* It’s a tribal thing. Weinred hates Grayson Allen for the same reason Sabrina Rubin Erdely hated those “overwhelmingly blond” fray boy rapists Tad, Biff and Haven. High-fivin’, having sex with cute coeds and feeding the resentments of a turd like Weinreb.
* This is revolting. You hate an upstanding 18 yr. old kid you have never met? Your magazine is a joke.
* Wow, just a day after Rollings Stone’s journalistic ethics and standards were laid bare, a new article ripping an 18 year old because his parents sent him to a religious based high school and seemingly because he’s white. Rolling Stone writers and editors swirl a little further down the toilet.
* Mediocrity always despises greatness, Weinreb. And Rolling Stone has proven with its University of Virginia fake rape story that it has not even reached the status of mediocrity. Grayson Allen, the last guy off the bench for Duke–and a relatively wispy, frail-looking athlete in comparison to the behemoths on the court, took the potentially dire circumstances into his own hands and prevailed with sheer will and determination. He sets the example for how the “little guy” can make a difference in the clutch. Yet the best you can do is deride him for attending a Christian school. Just another blatant example of the media’s hatred for anything associated with traditional America. Go join ISIS.
* I think it’s impossible to ignore the implicitly racialized nature of articles like this, even if the authors themselves are often white. There is something more satisfying about hating on the white players, it seems. Just as Laettner received all the hatred back in the day, now it’s being directed at Grayson. Never mind the fact that Duke’s team is now 80% black–let’s push the narrative of entitled white man.
Clearly RS is looking to push this narrative over and over again–that the world is being screwed by entitled, rich, snotty white guys. It’s getting boring, and in some cases blatantly untrue, like their UVA fiasco in which NOBODY was even fired.
* You and your associates at the Stone are practitioners of anything but journalism; way past what is called yellow journalism. You do not at all know Grayson Allen nor the environment in which he grew and developed into a fine young man. He was at star at the Providence School, about which you know nothing. He excelled academically and athletically in a Christian environment which focusses on character and leadership development. I watched him play there. His coach, Jim Martin is as fine a coach as anyone could hope for in high school athletics. My daughter will graduate from Providence on May 16. She too is a star – academically(President Nat’l Honor Society, athletically (a star swimmer, 5x state finalist), musically (piano) and spiritually (about which you no nothing). She will attend Florida this fall and major in Journalism. I will point to Rolling Stone as an example of where not to work and your writings as what not to become. You and RS are a scab on the industry and the profession.
* Grayson Allen is privileged and over-entitled, writes a guy named Michael Weinreb, who’s writing for a magazine owned by a guy named Jann Wenner.
We all know how privileged and powerful those Christians can be. Why just look at how the tiny Christian minority living outside of Arkansas and Indiana only just recently steamrolled the millions of atheists in those states to pass religious freedom laws, while poor oppressed locals like Marc Benioff had to just bend over and take it.
At some point it grows wearisome hearing the guy in the castle on the hill bitching about how poor and oppressed he is.
* Sounds like somebody’s grumpy about not getting into a country club.
* About Michael Weinreb: “I’ve read most of Philip Roth’s oeuvre. I once took a class in which we read nothing but Roth novels. I will admit, I am not an unbiased observer when it comes to Roth, and how much of that has to do with the fact that I am also a cranky Jewish male…”
LINK: “Michael Weinreb is a graduate of Penn State and the Boston University creative writing program. He has worked as a sports and features reporter at the Dallas Morning News, the Los Angeles Times, the Akro (Ohio) Beacon Journal and Newsday, and has been cited in the Best American Sports Writing anthology. His short fiction has been published in Nerve and other literary journals and he is a recipient of the Ray Bradbury Short Story Fellowship. He lives in New York City.”
* As a sometimes-subscriber to Rolling Stone, this one really troubles me. He as much as declares ‘As a Jew, I hate Christians and Christianity in all its forms.’
I was surprised the other day by an episode of ‘Big Bang Theory’ where Howard mentions casually that Jews aren’t supposed to wear crosses, which somehow had never sunk in before, and when I looked into it it was explained that for Jews the cross is up there with the swastika as a ‘symbol of antisemitism’.
I’ve never cared for the imagery of the crucifix, nor believed in the resurrection, but I do think we need to outgrow our ‘Old Testament’ bomb-Iran style foreign policy, so I’m tempted to make common cause with Grayson-Allen types, against the increasingly ‘audacious’ Old Testament Jews. I’d like some term with ‘Christian’ in it that just implies the mature/genteel/gentlemanly/gentile side of the New Testament, not the rabid sociopathic stuff (inherited I imagine from Orthodox Judaism).
How many people understand that Israel is only 2% Christian? That Jews there aren’t allowed to marry Christians?
How do I register my objections to this?
* Whenever any piece of writing is exceptionally, startlingly vile and hateful towards traditional white society, I look at the author’s name.
It. Never. Fails.
WEINREB
* Some kid wants to play basketball and a creep crawls out from underneath a dung pile to attack him for no reason at all. He’s done nothing wrong, yet this slimeball hates him just for existing. What a hater.
* Weinreb sounds a lot like Mark Rudd, who also copped to visceral anti-gentilism as his personal motivator.
The 60s were a great time for Jewish radicals and black panthers. You could guilt-trip and nail more white girls than you could shake a stick at.
* If someone wrote these words about anyone other than a white guy it would be considered extreme heresy and would undoubtedly be career-destroying. That Michael Weinreb is able to write this with apparent impunity and that a magazine that suffered a recent humiliation for its shoddy journalism would publish this is quite astounding.
* I congratulate Michael Weinreb for openly admitting he dislikes someone based on their religion and ancestry. (Well, also I suppose for quietly working hard and excelling at something.)
The unconscious mindset behind the Megaphone: people are judged by the color of their skin in spite of the content of their character.
* watched the “hate Christian Laettner” documentary the other day. All of the journalists who hated him were Askenazi Jews.
The only other person who really said much was Jalen Rose, who previously said that he didn’t hate Laettner and the person he hated on Duke was Grant Hill.
Is Christian Laettner hate as simple to explain as “Jewish sportswriters don’t like Polish basketball player (and his Polish coach)?”. Is Duke hate in general (outside of rivalries) this easy to explain?
So I look at the ethnicity of the writer of this article, the guy motivated to hate an end of bench freshman based on how he looks. Guess what?
* Weinreb admits that he knows almost nothing about Grayson Allen except that he is a Christian who plays basketball for Duke, and yet he says that he dislikes him and wants him to fail.
It’s clear who the real bigoted haters are. Weinreb openly admits to being one, but will in fact receive kudos from his peers for his writing.
* I find offensive that Whinereb is anti-gentile.
He is a gentiliphobe.
Did I mention the micro-aggressions inherent in his hate speech?
My civil rights were violated.
Perhaps his Manischewitz was made from sour grapes.
All better now.
* “He remembers every moment of the next three hours of agony, during which, he says, five men took turns dribbling, rebounding, and scoring, while several more – bench players and key reserves – gave instruction and encouragement. He remembers how the spectators swigged beers, and how they called each other nicknames like Deebo and Big J. He remembers the men’s heft and their sour reek of gatorade mixed with the pungency of sweat. Most of all, Michael Weinreb remembers the pain and the pounding that went on and on.
“As the last man headed for the basket, Weinreb was startled to recognize him: He attended a Christian high school in Florida. He looked like he was going to cry or puke as he told the crowd he couldn’t get his shot up. “P***y!” the other men jeered. “What, Wisconsin’s too good for you?” Then they egged him on: “Don’t you want to be a Blue Devil?” “We all had to do it, so you do, too.” Someone handed him a basketball. Weinreb stared at the young man, silently begging him not to go through with it. And as he shoved the ball into the basket, Weinreb fell into a stupor, mentally untethering from the brutal tableau, his mind leaving behind his doughy body under assault on the floor.”
* Jews have a partly homoerotic, partly primatological infatuation with negro athletes. Watching them outperform whites satisfies resentment and supremacy urges, because they view whites as competition.
* First of all, Grayson Allen is the “blackest” player on this year’s Duke team insofar as style of play is concerned. He has the highest vertical jump on a team that has 3 “one and done” players who are almost certain to all go in the first round of the upcoming NBA draft. The likely #1 pick, Jahlil Okafor, described him as the most athletic guy on the Duke team. He won several important dunk contests that featured top HS prospects.
Here is a video compilation of his playing style:
Dunks over no fewer than four 6’8 dudes at 16 years old:
Point is, the dude is the complete antithesis of the slow, vertically challenged “high motor” stereotype of white basketball players that is itself closer to being a blood-libel than to objective reality.
Anyway, a few days or a week after our debate here at Isteve over whether it is its “whiteness” that Duke bball is hated for, Grantland ran a big feature story on why this year’s Dukies are different and should be loved. I’m going to save you all from having to read that fetishistic drivel, but suffice it to say it consisted of cringe-worthy, slavish nut-licking of Duke’s “explosive” black starters punctuated by no fewer than 3 youtube videos of said black studs doing “explosive,” never before seen things like dunking basketballs or blocking shots.

The article doesn’t mention the words “black” or “white,” so ostensibly, there is plausible deniability. Maybe they just really like explosive players. Yeah right, but whatever. Point is, the sports media conversation had shifted, and not only at Grantland. This year’s team is not your “typical” Duke team. How is it not typical? Well, uh, hmm, they’re just more dynamic, more fun to watch! That’s it!
I watched the national championship game. Ironically enough, most of the athletic plays, like a flying dunk off a miss and a couple driving put backs, came from the white players on the Wisconsin side. From the Duke side, the only explosive plays came from Grayson Allen on drives to the basket and tough layups in traffic. Whenever Allen was on the court, he was attacking the basket a la Westbrook. In the limited minutes he played during the semifinal game against Michigan, his signature moment was a vicious dunk off of his own missed shot.
The point is, the guy had limited TV exposure but in the minutes he was in the spotlight for the national audience, he was the most emphatically “explosive” player on the Duke team. As the first part of my post showed, he has always been known as an athletic player throughout his career, so his outburst during the final 4 was not an anomaly. This was no Brian “White Mamba” Scalabrini using a perfect planetary alignment to go against all recorded history and go in for a dunk that amounts to an exception that proves the rule.
Funnily enough, before the confetti had even been swept off the court, the sports media (including of course Grantland) was abuzz about how we have finally found our new “Duke villain” in Grayson Allen. Huh? What makes him a villain? We were just told to love Duke, so the fact he’s a Duke player is by itself obviously not the reason. We were told to love Duke because of how explosive Duke plays, and this kid was by far the most explosive Duke player whenever he was on the court, so boring, unathletic play can’t be the reason.
So are white players hated because of their race? I think this answers the question. Allen is extremely athletically gifted, plays “black,” was given very limited minutes despite being a top 25 national recruit but when presented with a chance due to the starters’ foul trouble came in clutch and single-handedly pulled his team back from the brink on the biggest stage. But he’s white, so he should be hated. The only good thing to be said about this whole sad state of affairs is that the kid is getting laid and playing ball and not in some foreign shithole “fighting for America.”
* Pure, seething hatred of white Christian gentile America on full display. This article is so obviously animated by ethnic resentment I wonder how it could have gotten published – oh wait a minute, the owner of the magazine is the author’s co-ethnic, so I guess I don’t have to wonder anymore.
* Now, now, don’t pick on poor Michael. In 20 years when he’s lower T he’ll finally be able to openly profess his love for beautiful black bodies (Donald Sterling), and maybe even make a full transition (Buzz Bissinger).
* Gee, imagine if he picked out another familiar type and let rip:
Here are a couple of things I learned about DaQuante Ellison of by perusing his bio and rap sheet: He graduated from an inner city hellhole without having learned to read past the third grade level, write in cursive or perform basic math. The school is Bloods territory and fashions itself an “academy”, in case you like your savage chaos with an academic gloss.
DaQuante is just a freshman and still only a father of three, but I imagine this won’t be the last time he offends that shrinking base of decent folk still capable of moral discernment, because with a name and a biography like DaQuante Ellison’s, how can he be anything but the latest in a long line of one-and-done players who appear to have been genetically engineered to pillage and procreate as much as possible before lapsing into an early, child-like senescence in middle age, as likely as not in prison, should he survive?
He is every arrogant, pants-sagging jerk whose ever shaken down a spindly weakling like me, and I want him to spill his celebratory cognac, but I’m so terrified of him I’m going to go find a white preppie upon whom I will unload all this pent-up, impotent rage.
* What is wrong with these Rolling Stone people? Did they nurse on malice as infants?
Grayson Allen looks like a nice kid — even a little self-effacing.
I’m really amazed how people could foster such hatred for people who never did anything to deserve it, and who would probably be pleasant and respectful even to Rolling Stone types.
