American Environmentalists Used To Oppose Population Increase

I hear: In the late 1960s, the environmental organizations all supported immigration restriction and wanted to stop population increase, especially in less developed nations. The intellectual heavyweights of that time, Garrett Hardin and others were clear.
As you can see from this post by Brenda Walker at VDARE, Peter Gelbaum who was married to the child of illegal aliens from Mexico made a huge donation to the Sierra Club to get them to change their policies on this, without any input from the membership. Now the Sierra Club is just another left-wing organization. It’s an arm of the Democratic Party. You never hear environmental organizations challenge immigration, illegal or legal, from the third world to first world countries on the grounds that the carbon footprint increases many times over from what one person does in a relatively primitive country to what one does in a developed nation.
Anyone who looks at the infrastructure of California, including specifically its water storage and distribution facilities, its highways, prisons, higher education facilities, and health care facilities can see how severely they have been taxed by the unanticipated flow of illegal immigrants, primarily from Latin America, but some from Asia and other areas of world (including Israelis overstaying their visas), yet no one talks about it.
