Sex Abuser Levi Moscowitz Committed Suicide

From the Los Angeles Times:

A 24-year-old man who was sentenced last year for meeting a minor for sex was found dead Saturday morning in Griffith Park, authorities said.

The body of Levi Moscowitz was found at 8:20 a.m. inside the southern boundary of Griffith Park near the 2600 block of Commonwealth Canyon Avenue, said Los Angeles County coroner’s Watch Cmdr. Larry Dietz.

Investigators have not determined a cause of death and are waiting to perform an autopsy, Dietz said.

Moscowitz was arrested Feb. 28, 2014, after he told an undercover officer online that he wanted to perform sex acts with a 13-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl, according to a police report obtained by the Los Angeles Times.

Police had responded to an ad Moscowitz had posted days earlier on Craigslist in which he sought to join an incestuous sexual encounter, the police report said.

Moscowitz went to Long Beach for what he thought was to be a sexual encounter. Police arrested him there.

The Los Angeles County district attorney’s office charged Moscowitz with one felony count of meeting a minor for lewd purposes, according to the criminal complaint.

Moscowitz pleaded no contest in October and was sentenced to one day in jail, a year of counseling and five years of probation, the Jewish Journal reported.

His attorney, Tiffany E. Feder, described Moscowitz as religious and sincere, and she expressed shock and sadness over his death.
