At The Stake

It was the summer of 1980 and my father was on trial for heresy at Glacier View.

I was playing in the swimming pool.

An older bloke, Dr. Bill Shea, asked me who I was.

"I’m the son of the man you’re burning at the stake," I replied.

He turned red.
