Parashat Tazria (Leviticus 12:1-13:59)

I discuss the weekly Torah portion with Rabbi Rabbs every Monday at 7pm PST on my live cam and on YouTube.

This week’s we study Parashat Tazria (Leviticus 12:1-13:59).

Rabbi Rabbs emails me:

During this week’s show, you relayed to me a question asked by your friend Chaim Amalek regarding King Henry VIII. My friend Esther who has lived her whole life in Great Britain watched the show and forwarded to my attention the following web page which states the following regarding English history:

“Katharine and her duenna, Dona Elvira, both wrote that her marriage to Arthur had never been consummated.”

Based on that important fact, Amalek’s entire question must be answered differently. King Henry was permitted to marry Katherine according to both Judaism and Catholicism because she was never married to his brother, as that marriage was never consummated.
