On his radio show Friday, Dennis Prager said: “Why would they do this? We’ve never had a president to the left of Barack Obama. So why would the left of the Democrats object to this deal? Because what they care about is equality and redistribution of income. Therefore the idea that the top 2% of wage earners will not have a tax increase… The top 2% are the small business owners who can hire people. If we raise that tax, then fewer Americans will be employed.
“I believe that the left cares more about how many Americans are unemployed than they do about inequality. Everybody has priorities.”
“The non-wealthy are hurt by a tax increase but that does not matter to the left. That is why Europe has always tolerated a higher unemployment rate than the United States. Equality is more important than people working. Leftism is a passion. It is feelings based. It is anger at inequality. It is not a thought-through system. It is not pro-growth. It is pro-equality. Growth and equality are usually mutually exclusive.”

H1: Open Revolt
Prager H1: The Los Angeles Times reports that Democrats are in “open revolt” against the President and his tax compromise with Republicans. It’s probably just a lot of sound and fury, but it does signify something… Have the unions managed to alienate even liberal politicians?… UK students are rioting over a tripling of their tuition. They’re so used to getting so much for so little that it’s a shock to their system. And what better way to express yourself than smashing windows and vandalizing property?

H3: Open Lines
Prager H3: Per usual, callers set the agenda. Issues raised include: why can’t we have eye for an eye justice; should a woman of 41 adopt or have a child biologically; is there such a thing as ethical monotheism.
