The scene is an Orthodox synagogue. The situation is that there are not enough hand-outs for all present.
The rabbi stands up and says: "You’re going to have to share. You know my ruling on this: if you’re sleeping with someone, it’s OK to share a hand-out."
"Whoa!" I said. "I’m in trouble. Should I huddle in a corner with eight women? Should I not share a hand-out with the woman next to me to save her from shame? What should I do? What does the HaShem want from me right now?"
That’s typical of me. I’m always thinking about the honor of others and how I can besmirch it.
