I hear Rabbi Weil is a shoo-in to replace Rabbi Tzvi Hersh Weinreb who does not want to leave his position as CEO of the O.U. (official title is executive vice-president).
OU president Steve Savitsky is a major fan of Rabbi Weil and will likely ensure his ascension.
Full disclosure: About a month ago, I "reported" on here that Rabbi Weil would not get this position and instead would succeed Malcolm Hoenlein (Vice-Chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Major Jewish Organizations).
