Here are some annoying tics I notice in the news:
* “Israel fears escalation.” Israel has been the aggressor for months against Iran and Hezbollah. Israel welcomes a wider war. Israel doesn’t fear escalation as much as it fears the status quo.
* Israel had a spectacular success against Hezbollah, but what’s its strategy? Maiming and slaughtering your enemy and killing off their entire senior leadership is part of Israel’s strategy. When you impose a harsh price for attacking Israel, you reduce the incentives to attack Israel.
The left is leery of punishment for violent criminals. For non-leftists, punishment for violent criminals is a normal and natural response.
The left says revenge is primitive. As Dennis Prager notes, all punishment contains an element of revenge.
The Talmud says, “If you know someone is coming to kill you, get up early and kill them first.”
* For [X}, this is personal. New York Times: “For [Tammy] Duckworth, Preserving I.V.F. Access Is Personal”
Who cares if something is personal?
* “Are the pager attacks a violation of international law” International law makes it as difficult as possible to fight back against terrorists while developing as many rights as possible for terrorists because they are brown people fighting back against the oppression of white people.
* Taking celebrities at face value. The New York Times states: “Sally Rooney doesn’t care about her career.”
