A Happy Country

Dennis Prager said on his radio show yesterday: “It is so good for you to see the many ways to lead a life. It’s good to be challenged. Do they do this better there? Are there billboards different? We don’t have as many AIDS billboards here as they do in Africa for good reason. Do people smile?

“You could stick me in a place and not tell me where it is and I could tell you in an hour whether or not it is a happy country. I watch people’s faces. It has nothing to do with the affluence level… The reason people are depressed in Zimbabwe is not just because of poverty but because of the lack of opportunity. Hope, not status, is what gives people happiness.”
