With all the hoopla about this new conductor, how come nobody has commented on how he tightens his neck and pulls down on his spine when he conducts. A lot of musicians do this. They think it shows they’re trying really hard when they contort their body. They’ll pay a price. You don’t want to shove your head down and compress your spine. It results in all sorts of ills. Come back to length and poise, let the head float on top of the body, and you’ll be happier and healthier.
