HIAS Statement on Paris and Beirut Attacks
NOV 16, 2015BLOG POST
WASHINGTON—Mark Hetfield, president and CEO of HIAS, the global Jewish nonprofit that protects refugees, released the following statement in response to the attacks in Paris and Beirut last week:

“All of us at HIAS extend our deepest condolences for the people of Paris and Beirut, for the families who lost loved ones. We pray for the recovery of the wounded. Words alone cannot express our sadness over these events.

“HIAS condemns these monstrous acts of terror and the mass murderers who committed them. May they be brought to justice.

“We at HIAS are also saddened to see politicians citing these tragic events as a reason to put safe haven further out of reach for refugees. The world needs to stay focused on fighting terrorism and hatred, not on building walls of brick as well as paper to keep refugees out.

“Refugees resettled to the United States are already subject to multiple layers of security screenings. Of course, the United States must continue to rigorously screen refugees to ensure that terrorists are not disguising themselves as refugees to gain access to resettlement. But as a rule, refugees do not bring terror, they flee terror. And at this tragic time in human history, where there are more refugees and displaced persons than at any time since the Second World War, we must take care to protect refugees and asylum seekers, not scapegoat them.”

Hetfield is scheduled to testify before the U.S. House of Representatives Judiciary Committee, Subcommittee on Immigration and Border Security, on Thursday, November 19.

From January 7, 2014 HIAS testimony:

A major obstacle to resettling Syrian refugees in the United States is likely to be the application of the Terrorism-Related Inadmissibility Grounds (TRIG) to Syrian refugees. This could bar from resettlement anyone who provided even the most minimal levels of “support”—including a meal or a night of lodging in one’s home—to anyone who engaged in resistance against the Assad regime. Children are not exempt from the TRIG bars to admission.

Since the USA Patriot Act expanded the definitions of “terrorist activity” and “terrorist group” in 2001 to include any armed opposition or support for armed groups, regardless of the goals or aims of the group or whether the United States also provides them with support, thousands of bona fide refugees have been kept from resettling or receiving permanent legal status in the United States.

The U.S. government must ensure that Syrian refugees who are otherwise eligible for resettlement and need protection are not barred because of overbroad terrorism definitions that should not be applied to them.

IRAP and HIAS endorse recommendations listed in the RCUSA Statement for the Record and urge the Administration to implement the authority Congress has granted it to exempt Syrian refugees from the TRIG provisions of U.S. law.

Jewish Elite Solution To ISIS: Invade Middle East, Restrict Free Speech

Rabbi Abraham Cooper writes:

Someone’s boots—perhaps NATO’s— will have to get on the ground so that the ISIS snake can be beheaded, not innocent Christians, Muslims, and Yazidis. Large-scale ISIS casualties and destruction of their training bases will destroy their nexus to extremists who have returned to Europe. A NATO force would also help secure an immediate humanitarian goal of establishing a safe-haven/no fly zone for the millions of displaced Syrians that would at least slow the flood of humanity storming the shores of Europe…
Finally, social media giants must join the war against terror. When will Twitter finally wake up? Why do they continue to allow themselves to serve as the key platform for the cheerleaders of depravity? And Silicon Valley leaders may want to take note that the apps they are generating are not only allowing teens to hide their sexual antics from their parents, but enabling mass murderers to threaten us all.

Jewish Actor Seth Rogen Takes on Macklemore for ‘Anti-Semitic’ Costume

REPORT:

Comedic actor Seth Rogen on Sunday derided rapper Macklemore after the Same Love singer donned a costume during a performance that some criticized as “anti-Semitic.”

“@Macklemore, first you trick people into thinking you’re a rapper, now you trick them into thinking you’re Jewish?” Rogen, who is Jewish, wrote on Twitter.

Macklemore’s offending outfit, worn on Friday, included a fake wig and beard, and an over-sized prosthetic nose. He unveiled the look at a surprise concert with Ryan Lewis in his hometown of Seattle, which was held at the opening of a new exhibit at the city’s EMP Museum called “Spectacle: The Music Video.”

While Seattle Weekly reported that the Grammy winner’s disguise was an attempt to avoid detection prior to his two-song performance, Macklemore’s look was roundly criticized for portraying negative Jewish stereotypes.

Jewish human right group B’nai B’rith International said the “costume choice by singer Macklemore, in which he wore a hook nose while singing a song about frugality called Thrift Shop, is deeply offensive and propagates Jewish stereotypes.”

“His costume choice and subsequent response demonstrate an utter lack of sensitivity. Stereotypes are dangerous and offensive. Stereotypes dehumanize— removing individuality and promoting intolerance,” the group added.

Comments on Twitter:

* But it is OK for @Sethrogen to mock a Christian holiday. Mocking Christians = edgy. Mocking Jews = HATE.

* His latest movie has him vomiting in church

France’s Muslim Problem

From the NYRB: France has one of the largest Muslim minorities in Europe. French Muslims are also predominantly a social underclass, a legacy of France’s colonial past and indifference to its aftermath. For example, although just 7 to 8 percent of France’s population is Muslim, as much as 70 percent of the prison population is Muslim, a situation that has left a very large number of young French Muslims vulnerable to absorbing radical ideas in prison and out. Within this social landscape, ISIS finds success. France has contributed more foreign fighters to ISIS than any other Western country.

Le Pen Frightens Jews as FN Regional Elections Victory Looks Certain

From the Jewish Press:

French Jews are not particularly ecstatic about the prospect of an FN win. Newsweek interviewed Jews in Paris’ Le Marais district, the historic Jewish “Pletzle,” and several expressed concerns at Le Pen’s momentum. Marine Le Pen’s father is virulently anti-Semitic, and ran his party along those points of faith, complete with crematorium jokes. A 51-year-old Jewish shopkeeper named Jerome told Newsweek about a video he’d watched on YouTube, showing Le Pen rubbing her hands together in satisfaction over Friday’s mayhem.

Marine Le Pen is boycotted by mainstream French Jews. The Ukraine oligarch Vadim Rabinovich, founder of the European Jewish Parliament, met with the FN leader last July, only to be condemned by the European Jewish Congress, whose president, Moshe Kantor, said in a statement: “That any European Jew would ever consider themselves available to fig-leaf racists and anti-Semites is shocking in the extreme.”

An old FN supporter told Newsweek, “The attacks were a catastrophe for the country, our government is a catastrophe, it doesn’t control our borders.” For him, and for millions of others in wounded France, Le Pen represents a willingness to rid the country of Islamists, and to make sure no one new comes in. How she would define the difference between a terror-harboring Islamist and just a swarthy guy going to shul is what frightens Parisian Jews.

The Jewish Imperative To Help Syrian Refugees

Hugo Schwyzer writes on FB: In 1938, my Jewish grandparents fled Austria for England with my young father and his sister. The rest of the family perished in the Holoicaust.
When war broke out in 1939 my grandfather was briefly interned as an enemy alien, My father, who was then the age my daughter is now, was beaten up in school and called a “dirty Nazi.”
The schoolyard bullies who tormented my daddy made the same mistake that the right-wing makes today: refusing to make distinctions between those escaping fanaticism and the fanatics themselves.
As the son of refugees who owes his very existence to the willingness of an ostensibly Christian country to accept a destitute family from a different faith, I want Syrians to be welcome here.

You can thank @HIASrefugees for removing terrorist background checks

HIAS = Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society. It is a Jewish activist group in the USA that constantly pushes for more immigration (irrespective of human capital) and fewer background checks on immigrants to keep out potential terrorists.

Trump Rally in Beaumont, Texas: Pounding Home the Anti-Immigration Theme

REPORT: My family drove over from Houston to attend a Trump rally in Beaumont, Texas on Saturday, his first after the Paris shootings. I’ve never seen him push the envelope like he did.

First, he made a comment about the French attacks, saying essentially, “if they, if our people had guns, this wouldn’t have happened.” “Our people” here is referring to the French victims—perhaps hinting to the audience that he sees the French victims as White like us and that the problems France faces are the same facing Whites around the world. Phrases like “our people” uttered by a White person and including Whites in other countries are anathema to the social justice/cultural Marxist crowd.

Second, he brought out four families, all White, whose relatives were murdered by illegal aliens. Trump is essentially running a live action road show with the content of an American Renaissance article, the ones that became so tiresome and depressing, chronicling non-White misbehavior. Trump, however, just repeats these themes over and over.

It’s plausible that someone of Trump’s personality could be successful without pushing the immigration issue so hard, which makes a case for it being a genuine conviction for him. All in all, a very surreal experience. Trump tells these hugely parenthetical stories, and then will jump back and pick up the conversation thread from twenty minutes ago, all with no notes and all with keeping the language on a fourth-grade level. He may be the most talented public speaker alive today.

He continued hammering his theme of Eisenhower and Operation Wetback.

Dirk Nowitzki’s ex-girlfriend / former fiance / inmate Cristal Ann Taylor

I was watching the 2014 Netflix movie on Dirk Nowitzki of the Dallas Mavericks and I noticed a black woman ran a con on him in 2009, living with him for about a year under a false name.

REPORT FROM 2009: “Cristal Taylor was sentenced to 5 years in prison on August 24 for violating the terms of probation from a former conviction. Additionally, Nowitzki has applied for sole custody of his unborn child with Taylor. Let’s break this down a little bit here: Dirk Nowitzki, a Multi Millionaire NBA star, and generally revered good dude, vs. Cristal Taylor, a multiple time convicted felon who happens to be currently incarcerated and also seen as pretty much insane.”

After that horrible experience, the Teuton married black woman Jessica Olsson and had a kid with her.

The Meaning Of The Paris Attacks

It’s silly to talk about Islamo-fascism and radical Islam. ISIS is Islam. Liberal easy-going Islam is not Islam. Islam is about conquering the world, by the sword if necessary.

From Edge.org: Scott Atran: Anthropologist, Directeur de recherche, Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, Institut Jean Nicod, Paris, Co-Founder, Centre for the Resolution of Intractable Conflict, University of Oxford. Author of Talking to the Enemy.

The latest round of ISIS-inspired attacks in Paris, “The First of the Storm” proclaimed by ISIS, the chaotic scenes on the streets, and the angry reactions provoked among the public are, are unfortunately, precisely what ISIS plans and prays for. For the greater the reaction against Muslims in Europe, the deeper the West becomes involved in military action in the Middle East, the happier ISIS. Its key strategy is finding, creating and managing chaos, as outlined in the manifesto Idharat at-Tawahoush (The Management of Savagery/Chaos, “tawahoush”, from “Wahsh = Beast, so an animal-like state).

Some principal axioms:

“Diversify and widen the vexation strikes against the Crusader-Zionist enemy in every place in the Islamic world, and even outside of it if possible, so as to disperse the efforts of the alliance of the enemy and thus drain it to the greatest extent possible.

So, hit soft targets that cannot possibly be defended to any appreciable degree:

Capture the rebelliousness of youth, their energy and idealism, and their readiness for self-sacrifice, while fools preach “moderation” (wasatiyyah) and avoidance of risk:

“[The] media plan… its specific target [is] to motivate crowds drawn from the masses to fly to the regions which we manage, particularly the youth… [For] the youth of the nation are closer to the innate nature [of humans] on account of the rebelliousness within them, which… the inert Islamic groups [only try to suppress].”

And draw the West as deeply and actively as possible into the quagmire:

“Work to expose the weakness of America’s centralized power by pushing it to abandon the media psychological war and the war by proxy until it fights directly.”

Ditto for France, the UK and other allies.

In “The Gray Zone,” a 10 page editorial in ISIS’s online magazine Dabiq, in early 2015, the anonymous author describes the twilight area occupied by most Muslims between good and evil, the Caliphate and the Infidel, which the “blessed operations of September 11” brought into relief. Quoting Bin Laden: “The world today is divided. Bush spoke the truth when he said, ‘Either you are with us or you are with the terrorists,” with the actual “terrorist” being the Western Crusaders. Now, “the time had come for another event to . . . bring division to the world and destroy the Gray Zone,” of which the Paris attacks are in reality just the latest, ever more effective, installment.

Simply treating the Islamic State as a form of “terrorism” or “violent extremism” masks the menace. Merely dismissing it as “nihilistic” reflects a willful and dangerous avoidance of trying to comprehend, and deal with, its profoundly alluring moral mission to change and save the world. And the constant refrain that the Islamic State seeks to turn back history to the Middle Ages is no more compelling than a claim that the Tea Party wants everything the way it was in 1776. As Abu Mousa, the Islamic State’s press officer in Raqqa put it:” “We are not sending people back to the time of the carrier pigeon. On the contrary, we will benefit from development.”

Meanwhile, the Islamic State is reaching out wherever a state of “chaos” or “savagery” exists, to fill the void (over 700 hundred Saudi fighters alone in recent months according to evidence Saudi leaders presented to me in August). Where there is insufficient chaos it seeks to create it, as in Europe. It conscientiously exploits disheartening dynamic between the rise of radical Islamism and the revival of the xenophobic ethno-nationalist movements that are beginning to seriously undermine the middle class—the mainstay of stability and democracy—in Europe in ways reminiscent of the hatchet job that the communists and fascists did on European democracy in the 1920s and 30s. The fact that Europe’s reproductive rate is 1.4 children per couple and so needs considerable immigration to maintain a productive workforce that can sustain the middle class standard of living—at a time where there has never been less tolerance for immigration, and which is another situation of chaos that the Islamic State is well-positioned to exploit—is a godsend for the movement.
