Why Is Charles Murray So Vicious About Donald Trump?

He’s never ripped any politician, any body, like this. What’s going on?

LINK: On facebook and twitter Charles Murray has mounted a continual attack campaign against Donald Trump (and also on his presidential aspirations and its supporters–but, surprisingly, against Trump in an acerbically personal way more than anything else).

From Trump’s perspective, this is an ant-pissing-on-my-shoe scenario, of course. Another Establishment figure renouncing Trumpian populism is nothing new, nor is it anything that will hurt Trump’s candidacy. To the contrary, it’ll likely help it*.

It is, however, surprising to see someone who has been on the receiving end of a vicious, unrelenting Establishment assault so enthusiastically pick up stones stained with Murray’s own blood and throw them at the newest official object of hate.

There is no air of reservation or scholarly thoughtfulness present here, either. It’s embarrassingly sophomoric stuff. For instance, today Murray writes:

It could be the 1850s and the Know Nothings. Same fear, same rhetoric, same fascist tendencies. And I don’t use “fascist” loosely.

Yikes. Fascism is a distinctly 20th century European cultural-political movement. To label a distinct movement that occurred several decades previous to the existence of fascism as fascist is anachronistic and thus almost definitionally a very loose application of the term. It’s like saying the Jacobins were Marxists. This is something I’d expect from a talk show host, not from the author of Human Accomplishment.

The responses to Murray’s posts are about as fun to read as comment sections on NYT articles about the putative epidemic of white-on-black violence in the US are. For example, a particularly perspicacious one:

There is nothing more inherently conservative, in the most basic sense of the word, than restricting immigration. There is nothing more inherently transformative than mass immigration. This is not even a close call issue.

And one whose author reached for the scabbard under his cloak before posting:

Nice to see you utilizing the same tactics that marginalized you and sidelined your career. I suddenly feel much less sorry for you.

COMMENTS:

* While Murray may be a think-tank scholar, do you think he’s not jealous that scholars such as himself and his former colleague, Jason Richwine, get dragged over the coals when they write well-researched, factual articles that are less offensive than the statements Donald Trump is cheered for saying? The intellectual scholars receive the death penalty for merely pointing out that black/Latino IQs are lower than white IQs, yet Trump becomes a serious presidential candidate only after saying that many of our immigrants are rapists/murders/drug dealers. It’s similar to how a history professor watches a movie such as Braveheart and then throws a tantrum because Mel Gibson made millions from that movie in spite of its glaring historical errors.

* There is a documentary out there by an Israeli journalist who interviewed Murray about the 2008 election. The first words out of Murray’s mouth is how proud he is that the country elected a black man. Murray has always been basically a liberal. I was briefly a student of Allan Bloom’s in college and had the pleasure of meeting Murray at a neocon event. It was obvious that he (and Bloom) were basically small l liberals. Murray disliked my collegiate defense of Heidegger’s notion of being in the world because…Fascism, that Nazi. Consider that the obsession with IQ is really a rear attack on culture, class and any and all non-quantifiable criteria. I’ve never cared for the man – though he has a good speaking voice.

* Funny thing is, Murray’s Quakerism aside, he is still listed as an extremist of the White Nationalist type on the SPLC website.

That must hurt him with his Quaker friends (get it? I crack me up!). He sure is working hard to compensate.

* I think this has something to do with his Quakerism.

Here, in the WSJ.

“I am describing my own religious life from the time I went to Harvard until my late 40s. At that point, my wife, prompted by the birth of our first child, had found a religious tradition in which she was comfortable, Quakerism, and had been attending Quaker meetings for several years. I began keeping her company and started reading on religion. I still describe myself as an agnostic, but my unbelief is getting shaky. ”

The Quakers are 95% left wing activism and 5% religion.

Plus Murray is a libertarian and they are open borders nutters.

COMMENTS AT THE CHATEAU:

* There is a video on YouTube somewhere where Murray in a debate with Ralph Nadar backs H1Bs and forms of immigration that help corporations depress wages. Even in those comments from 9 years ago, Murray basically took a race-denialist position on immigration. He threw some dust at IQ trends but ultimately came down on the race doesn’t matter side. He also did a little status-whoring signalling about his preference for Asian communities to certain white ones.

IQ has some importance, but it’s not a basis for community. Murray’s brand of cognitive elitism effectively divides whites by class and intellectual ability, which is bad for white preservation.

I suspect one reason Jews and their allies and lackeys promote cognitive elitism is to sheer off the white cognitive elite from their natural constituents. That way, the white cognitive elite can be can be out-competed and marginalized by their more cohesive Asian and Jewish peers who are loyal to their natural constituencies.

* Murray’s in his dotage, and worried about his legacy, just like James Watson was. As if either of them will have any legacy at all if no Whites-who-were-once-men don’t renew their testicles and stand up against the dark tide swamping our civilization.

* I think Murray is just too old to accept that the political landscape has changed. He’s strictly a blue pill conservative; he thinks each election we all start from zero and a generic Republican has an equal chance against a generic Democrat. He doesn’t get that demographics have made the electoral college bad for Republicans and it will get worse with each election.

That’s why I don’t think, all things being equal, Republicans have a shot at the White House in my life time. Murray does, and so he wants a more ideologically conservative Republican, which Trump isn’t.

So he doesn’t get that if Republicans are going to have any shot, the establishment must crushed under the panzers of the Trumpenkreig. Trump is a hail mary, and a hail mary is the only shot Republicans have. Unfortunately Republicans are too stupid to realize it and Murray is too old to accept it.

* Charles Murray has always been an extreme corporate, free market and open borders libertarian, so his hostility to Trump makes sense from that standpoint. Murray has never had loyalty to anything but the almighty dollar and his Jewish paymasters. Murray is also an ID dork otherwise known as a cognitive elitist. The corporate libertarians and IQ elitists are often fellow travellers. Those of you reading who are interested in white preservation and need another reason to abandon free market cultism and libertardianism, including the reformulated versions peddled by that loon Hans Hoppe, here you go.

* He may have been libertardian, but he was never open borders:

“4. Immigration reform must begin first with enforcement of existing immigration law. If it takes a wall, so be it.”

In his defense, this was written 9 years ago so he may have had a lot of age-related Testosterone decline since ago.

* Future White historians, if there are any, will write volumes attempting to explain how a the most successful and powerful race destroyed itself wilfully. Maybe Whites will learn, and maybe they won’t. In any case the die is cast.

* Eastern Europe is already showing the most resistance, Hungary in particular. These countries are the least infected by cultural marxism in the white world. Ironically, being under the yoke of economic marxism for so many years spared them from cultural marxism. Here’s hoping they hold strong and their example spreads.

* “What’s up with Charles Murray?” asks the hosts of the Chateau.

Incentives, misunderstanding, and a soft-spoken temperament.

1. The reaction of the lukewarm, such as small L libertarian Murray, to criticism of their views as extremist is to point further down the spectrum and proclaim that that is the extremist. Forever vilified for one chapter in “The Bell Curve”, Murray tries to redeem himself of accusations of racism by painting Trump as the villain for opposing 3rd world invasion. Dinesh D’Souza tried it with AmRen and got the first run of his book pulped for it.

2. Murray a White Knight in the Bill Bennett sense who urges men to “man up”. Like Bennett, Murray has no inkling of the sexual market forces that have driven men to abandon marriage. In “Coming Apart” Murray harangues us about the importance of men marrying and the evils of divorce. Enter Trump with three hot wives and a penchant for banging models and White Knight Murray is bound to hate him.

3. Murray is a soft spoken intellectual who doesn’t even like to debate, who’d be comfortable with a POTUS who sips his tea quietly every day at 4:00 whilst chatting quietly with the cabinet. Enter the swaggering Trump who says rude things, has domineering body language, and has kept his name in the papers for years by picking fights with celebrities and the meek, like Murray, inherit conniption fits.

4. Trump has been inconsistent over the years, which is bound to drive the pure crazy. So long as he keeps us out of brush wars, stops importing the 3rd world, makes our “allies” pay for their own defense, and protects our jobs WGAF?

Murray is an important social scientist and his work is worth reading, but calling Trump a fascist is ridiculous. Fascist how? Banning usury? Installing a dictator? For a guy who generally speaks with volumes of data, Murray is more than a bit short on evidence of fascism.

Daily Mail: The Pope tells gypsies to stop ‘fighting’ and ‘swindling’ and make sure they send their children to school

REPORT: The Pope has told gypsies not to ‘fight’ or ‘swindle’ and ordered them to always send their children to school.
Pope Francis told a group of thousands of Roma, Sinti and other travelling people, from all over Europe, to respect the law and avoid bringing shame on their culture through petty crime.
At a gathering in Rome, Francis condemned ‘centuries’ of discrimination against Europe’s gypsies, he said they must do their part by respecting the law and sending their children to school.
‘Don’t give the media and the public reason to think badly of you,’ he said.
Gypsies who professed themselves to be Christians must, ‘avoid everything that is not worthy of the word: falsehood, fraud, swindles, fighting’, he warned.
Francis said that while the state had to guarantee education, it was ‘the duty of adults to see to it that children go to school’.
Italy is home to Europe’s biggest traveller camp, outside Rome, and the pope has visited several nomadic camps since his appointment in 2013.
Roma have been living in Italy for seven centuries. But their poverty and resistance to integration have made them conspicuous. In recent years several camps have been attacked by fire bombs.
On Monday Francis acknowledged that gypsies and travellers had too long suffered from xenophobia and said it was now time to ‘turn the page’.

The Decriminalization Delusion

Heather MacDonald writes: In July 2015, President Obama paid a press-saturated visit to a federal penitentiary in Oklahoma. The cell blocks that Obama toured had been evacuated in anticipation of his arrival, but after talking to six carefully prescreened inmates, he drew some conclusions about the path to prison. “These are young people who made mistakes that aren’t that different than the mistakes I made and the mistakes that a lot of you guys made,” the president told the waiting reporters.

The New York Times seconded this observation in its front-page coverage of Obama’s prison excursion. There is but a “fine line between president and prisoner,” the paper noted. Anyone who “smoked marijuana and tried cocaine,” as the president had as a young man, could end up in the El Reno Federal Correctional Institution, according to the Times.

This conceit was preposterous. It takes a lot more than marijuana or cocaine use to end up in federal prison. But the truth didn’t matter. Obama’s prison tour came in the midst of the biggest delegitimation of law enforcement in recent memory. Activists, politicians, and the media have spent the last year broadcasting a daily message that the criminal-justice system is biased against blacks and insanely draconian. The immediate trigger for that movement, known as Black Lives Matter, has been a series of highly publicized deaths of black males at the hands of the police. But the movement also builds on a long-standing discourse from the academic Left about “mass incarceration,” policing, and race.

Now that discourse is going mainstream. As the press never tires of pointing out, some high-profile figures on the right are joining the chorus on the left for deincarceration and decriminalization. Newt Gingrich is pairing with left-wing activist Van Jones, and the Koch brothers have teamed up with the ACLU, for example, to call for lowered prison counts and less law enforcement. Republican leaders on Capitol Hill support reducing or eliminating mandatory sentences for federal drug-trafficking crimes, in the name of racial equity.

At the state and city levels, hardly a single criminal-justice practice exists that is not under fire for oppressing blacks. Traffic monitoring, antitheft statutes, drug patrols, public-order policing, trespass arrests, pedestrian stops, bail, warrant enforcement, fines for absconding from court, parole revocations, probation oversight, sentences for repeat felony offenders—all have been criticized as part of a de facto system for locking away black men and destroying black communities.

There may be good reasons for radically reducing the prison census and the enforcement of criminal laws. But so far, the arguments advanced in favor of that agenda have been as deceptive as the claim that prisons are filled with casual drug users. It is worth examining the gap between the reality of law enforcement and the current campaign against it, since policy based on fiction is unlikely to yield positive results.

Two days before his Oklahoma penitentiary visit, Obama addressed the NAACP national conference in Philadelphia and raised the same themes. The “real reason our prison population is so high,” he said to applause, is that we have “locked up more and more nonviolent drug offenders than ever before, for longer than ever before.” This assertion is the most ubiquitous fallacy of the deincarceration movement, given widespread currency by Michelle Alexander’s 2010 book, The New Jim Crow. That a president would repeat the myth is a demonstration of the extent to which ideology now rules the White House.

Pace Obama, the state prison population (which accounts for 87 percent of the nation’s prisoners) is dominated by violent criminals and serial thieves. In 2013, drug offenders made up less than 16 percent of the state prison population, whereas violent felons were 54 percent of the rolls and property offenders, 19 percent. (See graph below.) Reducing drug admissions to 15 large state penitentiaries by half would lower those states’ prison count by only 7 percent, according to the Urban Institute.

The Ferguson Effect

Mike McDaniel writes: The President’s spokesliar, Josh Earnest, following a rather convincing—and no doubt, embarrassing–pair of statements by FBI director James Comey about the chilling of the “Ferguson Effect” on our nation’s police, proclaimed that there is no evidence of the Ferguson effect. As with virtually everything else Earnest has to say, personally or on behalf of the President, that’s idiotic and false, yet another twisting or reality in the service of the magnificence and image of Barack Obama.

The Ferguson Effect is the reality that police officers everywhere no longer trust that they will have the support of their superiors and citizens in doing their jobs. They do not have the benefit of the doubt. This is a very serious matter because without that support and the benefit of the doubt, they are finding themselves in danger of lawsuits, arrest and prosecution, and loss of their careers whenever they have to make an arrest of certain classes of citizens, and particularly whenever they have to use force in making those arrests.

Many police officers are risk-averse in the first place. They’ve learned to do as little as possible, because even in the best of times, that serves them well. They’re paid no less than their harder-charging colleagues, they’re more likely to be promoted, they’re probably safer, and they avoid the horrific stresses that come from being involved in even the most minor controversy. It all works because the hard chargers continue to take the risks, catch the really bad guys, and suppress crime.

But what happens when the hard chargers join the ranks of the risk-averse? We’re seeing that—regardless of what pathological liars like Earnest have to say—across the nation. Crime rates rise immediately and dramatically. Criminals immediately take advantage of changes in the enforcement climate and the most violent crimes, crimes relatively rare, suddenly become commonplace. Daily, more petty crimes become the norm, and particularly in big cities, minority communities and the poor are—unlike the lies of common leftist headlines: “poor, minorities hardest hit!”—hardest hit.

Here is a particularly disturbing example, but not for the reasons one might expect. Via Fox News:

“The Justice Department opened a civil rights probe Tuesday into the arrest of a student who refused to leave her high school math class, after a deputy was recorded flipping the girl backward in her desk and tossing her across the classroom floor.”

NYT: Tony Abbott, Ousted Australian Leader, Urges Europe to Take Hard Line on Migrants

New York Times: Tony Abbott, the former prime minister of Australia, used his first major speech since his ouster last month to denounce Europe’s migration policies, warning in London that the continent risked “fundamentally weakening itself” through “misguided altruism” as large numbers of asylum seekers arrive.

“All countries that say ‘anyone who gets here can stay here’ are now in peril, given the scale of the population movements that are starting to be seen,” Mr. Abbott, a conservative, said on Tuesday during a lecture honoring the British prime minister Margaret Thatcher.

Mr. Abbott backed an aggressive policy on migration during his two years in office. The Australian authorities turned away boats and refused to accept asylum seekers intercepted at sea, instead sending them to offshore camps. Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, who replaced Mr. Abbott in September in a party coup, has announced no change to those policies.

Mr. Abbott recommended the same approach for Europe. “This means turning boats around, for people coming by sea,” he said. “It means denying entry at the border, for people with no legal right to come. And it means establishing camps for people who currently have nowhere to go.”

Trump Vs Carson

Don posts: “Luke: If it comes down to Ben Carson for the Republicans and Hillary Clinton for the Democrats, who will get your vote? Do you agree with Donald Trump that Carson is unfit to be President because of his Adventist religion? Do you agree with Carson that a Moslem should not be elected President of the United States?”

Luke: I love Ben Carson, and would vote for him over any Democrat. I don’t agree that Carson is disqualified by his Adventism, but I do love the discussion about that! I love a good religious fight. I agree with Ben Carson that no Muslim should be elected president in the US. I agree with Carson that if European Jews had guns, there would not have been a Holocaust. I agree with Carson about almost everything except immigration (I want less, he wants more). Ben Carson is a beautiful man. The more America gets to know him, the better. What a great face for Adventism and for America and for blacks. I love it that Carson and Trump bring up things you’re not supposed to talk about publicly. They’re expanding the Overton Window.

Growing up as a Seventh-Day Adventist, I don’t recall ever having a conversation about race (or about the Jews). Not at home, not at church, not with friends. Adventists are about as color-blind as humanly possible.

Normal opinions in the 1950s are now racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, ageist, lookist, and Islamophic. Prior to the 20th Century, there was no conception of any such sin as “racism” or “sexism” or “homophobia” etc.

Have We Learned Nothing From The Holocaust?

It saddens me that these Germans are afraid of Muslims merely for dressing and thinking a little differently than them. It’s all too reminiscent of the Holocaust and being barred from country clubs in the ’50s. I hope Germany does a better job of integrating these millions of New Europeans in the future.

Breitbart: WATCH: GERMAN CITIZENS PANIC, ‘THIS IS OUR FUTURE’ – AS MUSLIMS MARCH THROUGH CITY

A new video appears to show Islamists marching in the German city of Hannover while at least two girls look on and express their fears.

The video, uploaded to various YouTube channels, has had over 100,000 views and appears to show a march that took place last week.

The girls can be heard saying:

“I thought I was the only one who’s in a bad mood because of this.”

“None of us want this. We’re all scared.”

“What is this? How will this be in 100 years?”

“This is not my life. It just shows you how many of them are here already.”

“Now there’s another 1.5 million who came this year.”

“Every year 2-3 million arrive.”

“It’s generally about foreign infiltration.”

“Yes, exactly.”

“We won’t dress like we do now.”

“Here, no! They won’t take anything from me!”

“Look, when I walk through the streets of the city, it’s only foreigners!”

“There are walking 50 foreigners and I only see one European face.”

“Look at the women! They’re all veiled!”

“This is our future.”

“Merkel says we’ll make it!”

“Yes we’ll make it! We’ll make it to our collective doom!”

“No, we won’t make it.”

The Los Angeles Busing Fiasco

Comments to Steve Sailer: Steve;
Did you ever do an article on the Los Angeles school busing fiasco of the late 70′s? I was away in the service while it was developing but if my memory serves me right by the late ’70′s the attempts to forestall the program died out in the courts and the program went into action. I remember driving to work through Sepulveda Pass past quarter mile long convoys of buses headed for the Valley. I think the bulk of the program was allowed to quietly fade away when it was discovered that the white students had pretty much all taken a powder by the time legal stalling smoke cleared. Buses would arrive in the newly “integrated” schools and it was pretty much:
“Hey where’s the White kids?”
” We don’t have any White kids here, we have Samoans, Persians, Koreans, Filipinos, Vietnamese and Arabs; we thought you were bringing White kids.”
“Who, us? We have Blacks, Mexicans, Cambodians, El Salvadorans, Hawaiian’s, Egyptians, Pakistanis and a smattering of !Hmong ethnic tribesmen.”
“Oh.”
I don’t know if it is related but I remember a shortly afterwards seeing from the freeway a sea of yellow school buses stored in a giant lot in San Pedro. There were literally acres of yellow roofs in that lot.

* Yeah, school busing to the San Fernando Valley pretty much wiped out Jewish attendance at Los Angeles public schools. Before busing, a very high percentage of Jews attended public schools in LA’s SFV. But not afterwards. Jewish politicians like Bobbi Fiedler and Alan Robbins led the failed resistance.
